I love the concept and how the prompt aligned with the beat. The graphics and sounds are really attractive. Yet the gameplay is a little bit dull comparing to other aspects. Anyway, a great game!
@gevernus Yeeeesss!! hahahaha thanks!!!
@igaryhe Thanks for the feedback!!! Yes! the gameplay is very simple, and the balance needs to be improved. I focused the jam in audio and game feeling, so... not bad!
Love the theme here and the "story" unfolding on the right side of the screen.
I got a real kick out of this game - wish debugging memory leaks IRL was this fun!
Really well balanced game, I liked the references, there isn't the full screen option (you can enable it in itch.io) and on my screen was quite small. A lot of fun!
I think it has a memory leak! I eventually had a triangle get stuck right next to me that couldn't be destroyed so the game froze. Cool idea and I like the flavor text!
Wow! I really like the approach taken! Feels pretty polished!
@schraf thanks!!! ^^
@theconfusedcyborg oh no! :( thanks for playing!!!
@axeltherabbit Thanks for the feedback!!! Unafortunately I didn't take other resolution than 960x600 into account :(. Maybe in a next version I'll do it!
@neonjeff yeeeess!!! I got it too!! Browser said that it's a null reference, but I didn't catch it in editor yet xD thanks for the feedback!!!! :)
@hadryel thanks!!
Nice idea to combine system messages on the side, which kind of narrate what happens in a game. I wonder if Unity's garbage collector feels like it plays such game while working. Had fun playing :)
@meek-bits In my mind that is the way GC actually works xD thanks for playing!
Simple, fun, detailed, thank you for your tips because I got much, much farther with them. Enjoyed this a lot!
Solid game! I loved the double use of the theme, playing in a while(true) loop, and rotating around in a loop, nice job! If I were to change anything I might alter the names of the upgrades slightly so its easier to understand what they were actually upgrading (but that could also just be me!). Altogether, super well polished game and a great submission!
Very solid entry! Nice sounds and music, graphics are simple and effective, gameplay is fun, feels very polished.
Honestly I can't think of much to improve, maybe just tune the difficulty a bit and add some more powerups and enemies.
Great job, I really liked this one.
Nice game, really like the theme interpretation. I got hooked on the game, even though I can't get past the 4th wave
Entertaining, replayable, polished. Wonderful arcade with lots of ways to upgrade the player. Enjoyed playing this masterpiece :)
Very enjoyable game! Loved the concept and the execution is amazingly well done. Great job!
Great game, love the console, everything looks polished and feels nice
only thing that could have been done better is the implementation of the theme but then we might not have gotten such a nice game :)
oh yeah and you wrote "A / W" instead of "A / D" ;D
I like the garbage collector theme! It marries well with the game mechanics and the visuals like the little log at the right really ties everything together. The game is very well rounded. Nothing to complain about.
Nice work. I really enjoyed playing this.
Wow this game is good. I loved the system log on the right, and how you translated processor characteristics into game mechanics. The game's addictive, music is cool. This might just be more favorite game of the jam - stellar 5 stars!
Ok, I just love it ! I don't know what else to say but it reminds me of a flash game I played (a loooong time ago) on kongregate: PixelVader ! Thank's for this game !
An original entry and way too real for programmers ;-P I missed a reminded about what every powerup does in the game itself. Other than that I liked the gameplay, art and audio!
@conneli Thanks! i'm glad the tips are usefull, it's not so obvious the mechanic of every upgrade ingame.
@str0nkyk0ng Thanks for your feedback! Sincerly, I didn't think about rotation as loop them hahaha, bat it makes a lot of sense ^^. Yes! Upgrtades are not so obvious ingame, so I explain it in the web description, but I'll try to change that in a future Post LD version :).
@mvasko2 Thanks for the feedback! Yes, it need some improve in balance, i'll work on it in a PD version too :).
@azsteak Thanks! I'm glad you like it! it's a little difficult, I would like to change a little the balance in order to make it easier and more frenetic at the same time.
@cookienoir Thanks you very much!!!! It's very pleaseing to read you like it!!! :)
@aemiliu5 Thanks you!!! I'm glad to read that! ^^
@seskon Thanks for the feedback and for the correction!!! I fixed the text! :) Yes!!! There is a lot of awesome games in this LD that fix better with the theme and I'm enjoying a lot playing them!
@diego-escalante Thanks you very much for your feedback!!!
@lone-wolf Thanks!!! :)
@eldar Thank youy very much!!!! I love all of this comments!!! ^^
@hoolop Oh! I saw a video and it looks like very funny!!! Thanks for the comparission, it's a good reference!! (but Pixel Vader feels much much better!!)
@island-jam-2-group-3 Thanks for the feedback!!! Yeeeesss!!! I have to improve the upgrades understanding! :)
I think the log view on the right side is an awesome UI idea, and the gameplay was pretty fun. Starts out simple, but then the upgrades make it interesting. Graphics and effects were great too. Nice job!
Nice! Loved the programming twist on the classic asteroid formula. Mechanically, everything works really well, Controls are snappy and frame rate is very good. Sound effects and music as well! Very fitting. Exploring the power ups was also a nice addition. Hiding the actual effects behind technical terms added to the immersion with the risk of potentially frustrating the player... but it worked for me at least :) I went for bullet quantity and bullet reload speeds to just fill the screen with bullets. That worked pretty well. Then I encountered a bug that prevented me from continuing... one of the triangles was not moving anymore and I couldn't shoot it. I was stuck.
Still a pretty nice game. Especially for a compo. There's a lot of content and stylistically, it's well made. Congrats!
@ale Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
@duke Thanks for the feedback, it was very complete and constructive! I'll fix the bug in a future version post LD, and surely make the texts more comprehensible (I have to think how to do it without break the immersion).
Very fun associating the powerups to tuning parameters of the machine xD
Very nice game. Quite challenging and fun to play. I liked the stats on the right. You took a simple idea to another level with that.
Good work.
Really cool game! Love the concept. Sadly, I encountered the bug @duke mentioned as well, and couldn't continue, but I still had fun
Nice simple idea, but executed well! I was thinking when I started that the turn speed was a little slow, then realised I could upgrade :)
Got hard quite quickly!
@wabble Thanks!
@hakro Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
@cookie-chr Sorryyyyyy!!!! I'll try to fix it this weekend! Thanks for the feedback!!
@adjo Thanks for the feedback! I think some balancing is needed in order to be more frenetic (but not more difficult) at the beggining, as there is a lot of games to play and we don't use to spent so much time in just one :). Thanks for playing!
Really good game and loved the how you did upgrades, very clever and well thought out! The music and SFX really add to the experience of getting there in the last second to shoot the enemy. Unfortunately I did come across the bug of a triangle staying on screen and not moving as well but in all had a great time playing this game!
Really neat game, simple and fun! The programmer-like UI looks really nice and is quite thematic. Nice sounds and effects, and the controls are ok.
Only complaint I have is that the spread shot upgrade kinda ruins your aim a little, as the shot is split evenly left and right, so it kinda feels like a side-grade, not an upgrade.
Awesome game ! I spent a lot of time to try different upgrade combinations ! Great graphics and gamefeel ! Congrats.
the whole graphics and concept seem very cute! although I can't seem to actually play, because I don't see anything other than the background, messages and some explosions (which are probably my invisible player getting hit by invisible things) ^^ playing on the web HTML5 version
@yeti-kid Thanks for the feedback! I'm just upload a version with that bug fixed. I'm glad you like it!!! :)
@thecakeconsortium Yes, the aim feeling when you upgraded the weapons first time is a little confused (you expect shoot ftom the middle instead of that angle). I'm just upload a version that change the order of weapons upgrade and I think it improves that feeling :). Yhank you very much for your feedback!!!
@wakobu Thanks you so much for playing!! ^^
@indivicivet I'm not sure what could be the error :S. I upload a new version that improves broweser compatibility (I detected tha IE and Safari does not works with gzip compression), but I'm not sure that it will fix your issue :S Thanks for reporting!
Cute shooter! Looks polished, good music. The graphics are a bit basic, maybe add more particle effects? I had trouble paying attention to the in-game text, as I was too busy aiming at the enemies :-)
@loveapplegames Thanks for your feedback! Yes, art style is minimal, but maybe I could improve the particle effects.
The text is only important for overclocking system, while you are playing only prints when you receive damage, but it's just narrative, because you have the feedback ingame (particles, camera shake and live status color).
Really loved this! It was quite polished and really innovative, a few things to note
I understand the reason for health being shown in the console and I don't think I would change it but it is very hard to look over there sort through all the text and figure out your health in the middle of a cycle. Unless perhaps I see in the comment above perhaps the color of the player changes based on health and I didn't realize?
Things could have felt a lot better if the enemies had just a little more juice when you destroyed them or when you get hit! I really liked this game, it was refreshingly new and quite humorous, very solid game, bravo!
Hey there! Congrats for your entry, overall, I really liked the concept and the simple artistic and UI choice, one thing I've found a bit frustrating was the controls, maybe a bit slow, I think I would have felt more comfortable with the mouse. But that's my only (small) complain, it's a well polished game! Good job!
Cute, very well-made and polished timewaster.
I like the theme you went with and how you stuck to it even with the UI, it taking the form of a console output. Very creative. I also enjoyed the upgrade system, which had quite some variety. I didn't expect to depend on the multiple-core upgrade as much as I did.
Great job overall.
@sharks Thanks for the feedback! Player color changes from green to yellow to red as health indicator, but maybe I need to improve the feedback. About the particles: yes maybe I need to improve the impact effects :).
@savvy-community Thanks for the feedback! Rotation is slow because it can be upgraded, and I wanted that it was important to do it. Anyway, the game is a little unbalanced, so I think you need to spent so much time playing until it gets frenetic (a kind of bullet hell feeling). I would like to fix it (and maybe one of the steps to do it is make the angular speed faster), but I don't want to change balance during Ludum Dare as only bug fixing is allowed.
@arbe Thanks for the feedback!! I'm glad you like it! Multiple core and shooting speed are the more important and satisfying this to upgrade in my opinion ^^.
Very nice idea and game. Good job! :)
@guimoliveira Thanks! ^^
Very fun! I loved the presentation, with the scrolling debug output at the side, it really added to the overall feel of the game. The difficulty ramped up nicely, with the upgrades just about offsetting the gradual increase in difficulty level. I wish there was some sort of scoring system, or even just a level counter, so if/when you die, you could tell how well you did. I died shortly after the pentagons started showing up, and I wasn't sure how much I had actually accomplished.
@f1krazy Thanks for your feedback! Yes, I think some kind of score is needed. I'll add it if I release another version :).
