CPU Heater by krasse 2017-12-04T19:31:08Z

Great game, but very hard to control. I love love love the graphics!!

CPU Heater by krasse 2017-12-06T21:01:17Z

Nice, but the audio is broken, ruining the mood.

CPU Heater by krasse 2017-12-06T22:40:08Z

@krasse It wasn't playing at all, but now it works. Sorry for the trouble.

Superstar Knight by Seththefirst 2017-12-06T03:34:46Z

Decent game. How does it fit the theme though?

The Dark Castle by Joror 2017-12-06T16:14:37Z

Ummm.... That was inappropriate. I'm sorry, but that was offensive.

The Dark Castle by Joror 2017-12-06T19:01:45Z

@joror Thank you!

Super Awesome Mage Power Ultra Magic Madness by CocaPasteque 2017-12-06T03:41:19Z

Needs music, movement was a bit messed up, and the colliders were bad, but it's pretty good!

Among the trees by LooksLikeSomething 2017-12-15T23:00:49Z

Gotta go FAST! Anyway, this game is pretty well done. The gameplay was pretty fun, and it fit the theme. I think that it's pretty nice that you're learning 3d modelling too, a very useful skill. Now, improvement tips. Firstly, look up fog. It would look a lot better than plain camera clipping does. Second, maybe use the default trees, or improve the art. It could use some work, although it does look fine when you are just rushing by it at a billion miles per hour. The big ones are stretched, and I'm not sure if that looks good. Finally, the game mechanics need a little improvement. One, you feel VERY slow at he beginning, and it's really boring. Maybe either increase the speed or trees as you go, not both? Also, the trees don't spawn far enough to your left and right, so it feels empty, and you can just hold down in one direction and survive forever.

Into the Slumber by FernandaBatista 2017-12-05T01:28:54Z

Decent game. I couldn't figure out how to beat the one where it's dumping mice and green and pinks lol

Cracks by YouBeStrong 2017-12-06T04:18:27Z

Nice job, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense......... It's a really innovative idea, although it isn't really fun. You just sit there and click stuff over and over and over and over and OVER... It gets old. Anyway, the music was decent, the artwork was okay (Although the tape has potential. How did you do that?), and the mood was pretty good. Overall, a pretty nice entry!

Going Nuts by nidup 2017-12-06T02:39:53Z

Nice! I love the art style, and the steady progression of difficulty/decrease in speed as you pick up more nuts. The audio is fun sounding, and i found the slapping noise a pleasant surprise. It's pretty innovative for this theme, although as far as the effects of the theme, speed is a pretty common thing. I did the same! Overall, great game!

Power and Reaction by Murilo 2017-12-07T01:04:06Z

Ahem. Your download link is missing...

Power and Reaction by Murilo 2017-12-07T01:13:29Z

Sorry, it's back. I was experiencing issues on my end. Anyway, it's a pretty cool game, although it does feel like I should be leaving the area, but I can't... Good job. The art is pretty well made, for blob art.

Forest by Rasmus Clausen 2017-12-06T03:36:04Z

Pretty nice, although kinda boring, and completely silent.

Not candy crush by eptwalabha 2017-12-08T00:24:43Z

Not candy crush by eptwalabha 2017-12-08T00:38:03Z

@eptwalabha Oh.... my mistake. I'm sorry.

Rogue Intelligence by Ayxs 2017-12-06T03:00:33Z

Erm... Kinda not great. The art is nice, and the audio is great. However, the pick up and put down object gun tends to glitch your movement speed, leaving you stuck at about an inch per hour with the game completely unplayable. It's kinda fun, but not really innovative. You basically just ripped off portal, but without the portals, and then added the light clicker from harry potter. Not what I call innovative... Anyway, pretty good entry, but has some major problems, as all games have.

Intelligent Fireball Cleanup Detail by smilewood 2017-12-05T01:52:36Z

Love the game, but it needs sound for sure. Also, doesn't really get a whole lot worse until you have extreme armor levels, so maybe adjust the armor level speed decrease next time.

Tap me, darling by supr 2017-12-06T15:34:40Z

Android only. Please make it cross platform, because we have a hard time giving out reviews if we can't play your game.

Fatcat's Trip by rayriver 2017-12-06T03:27:57Z

Fun game! I love the graphics, and the music is great. I love the camera and stuff too. Rather short, though. Maybe make it longer and put it on the app store. It would be great as an app.

Astray by AidanMarkham 2017-12-05T02:27:19Z

Fun game, but very grainy and I can't find the map at all.

The Prison Maze of Ozxu by MrPhil 2017-12-04T19:56:17Z

Very fun, but the graphics are bad.

Brick Racer by nekoballs 2017-12-06T18:30:06Z

Ugh.

Doughnut Drop by Roanock 2017-12-07T21:17:16Z

@roanock Is it there now? It's still not working. What you need to do is zip up the build so that it has the exe AND the data files AND the dll (if there is one).

Doughnut Drop by Roanock 2017-12-07T21:42:50Z

@roanock Thanks for fixing it! Now, about the game itself. Good job on the donuts! I'm learning too, so it's nice to see a fellow new person, but this is a lot better than what I can do. The game is UNBELIEVABLY hard, and I think that's what makes it great! Nice incorporation of the theme. Overall, good job!

Island Rescue by lukethecoder64 2017-12-06T18:57:04Z

Please try harder next time. And look up real airplane physics.

Speedy GOO-zales 3D by kristoverek 2017-12-05T01:23:01Z

Very fun, lol. I like the music, where'd you get it?

Voiid by Ace17 2017-12-13T16:34:01Z

Fullscreen doesn't work... It Locks the mouse, but it makes the mouse movement very buggy, so you constantly are spanning you look direction all over the place. Can you make a windows build? Anyway, the physics aren't great, which is important for a platformer game. It's impressive that you made your own engine though!

LDAX: Ludum Dare Asset Exchange by foolmoron 2017-12-05T16:35:37Z

Interesting idea, but boring game. It's too easy to just break it and rack up a ton of coins, or just rack up a ton of coins without breaking it. Also, not sure how this fits with the theme...

Mr. Great President by spyispie120 2017-12-16T15:20:41Z

Pretty funny, but the controls are hard to use.

Toutous by ArnoChux 2017-12-06T03:06:15Z

Hard. Very hard. However, this is pretty darn cool, and it's a good idea. I do notice one thing though. There's no pause button or quit on any screen, so you have to force it to quit. That's not user friendly...

Perigee by zee 2017-12-04T19:07:41Z

Innovative game, but somewhat boring and needs music.

No Coins Allowed by whooshy 2017-12-06T23:56:20Z

Erm... no. Could you at least get a better player and physics for him, because that's an integral part of the game.

Askipaouf by shubart 2017-12-03T19:13:28Z

This should be under Jam, if you used other people's art. It'll even give you an extra day to make the assets.

Askipaouf by shubart 2017-12-07T00:47:59Z

Pretty nice job! A major improvement over what I saw last. The art is nice, but you didn't make it. The audio is strange for a space ship game, so it's pretty innovative. Kinda fun. Nice entry

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-06T19:06:31Z

Whoa!!! Why does this have so many ratings?!?! Geez guys, please spread the work out so that other people have a chance!

The Heist by snake5 2017-12-04T19:12:28Z

Very fun, but rather short and doesn't really fit the theme. I like the music a lot too

What's Yours is Mine by kumoi 2017-12-06T05:01:50Z

Sorry, can't rate this one adequately as I don't have a VR. I'll base it off of the video. Maybe next time add some functionality that a non VR user can go off of?

Cat Lady Simulator 2020 by CubicTimeline 2017-12-06T02:49:51Z

Fun, but the graphics are not very good and I couldn't tell if it was feeding the cats at all.

The Peddler by AndrewBallinger 2017-12-06T02:47:29Z

Great concept! However, it's pretty boring. And it's almost impossible to tell what is going on because the user interface isn't great. However, you do have something to go off of, given more time.

Fungus Among Us by Lukuluk 2017-12-06T23:27:36Z

You mixed up the web version and downloadable version. Just so you know. Anyway, quite a good idea, although it is SUPER hard. The graphics are nice, although the infinite abyss isn't great. Good job!

Super Ploogy Rescue by 100th_Coin 2017-12-13T15:29:17Z

Suggestion: Rate more games! If you rate other people's games, you get noticed more, get better reviews, and help out people who need it! Now, the game is great! Fun gameplay, great art, nice audio, a good idea, it's just great all around! Good Entry!

LDGolf by unit684 2017-12-06T02:56:46Z

This is just really, really bad.

Moths by narve 2017-12-06T03:59:55Z

Nice entry, and pretty funny, but not really innovative, aside from the fact that these are moths rather than aliens or something, and the graphics aren't great. Also, the effect of the theme isn't apparent. How does this game fit with the theme? Good idea though.

Museum Keeper by Louspirit 2017-12-07T02:06:17Z

Museum Keeper by Louspirit 2017-12-07T02:07:15Z

Museum Keeper by Louspirit 2017-12-07T02:13:19Z

Decent game. I like the visual effects. You seem to know a bunch about shaders. However, the camera was blurry, and you are unable to catch the burglar after he picks up the painting, which is kinda lame, because I have lost with a burglar clearly within sight range and easy walking distance. Anyway, great game and idea, with a few kinks.

Disk Overdrive by Bendev_Games 2017-12-27T15:16:53Z

Pretty good idea, but you might want to tweak the mechanics a little, like maybe add a bigger space and several balls, or different places for drives to spawn.

Drunk Santa by UrsiGames 2017-12-13T02:41:06Z

Great job! I like the art, and the effects add to the feeling, although it does seem like Santa is on drugs rather than drinking... Anyway, SFX were great, the gameplay is nice, it fits very well with the theme, and it's pretty innovative. Overall, one of the better entries in this competition. There is a VERY low entry bar...

eatMoreBurgers(); by Luther 2017-12-06T02:41:17Z

Kind of boring, and where does it fit the theme? It doesn't have any direct effects, only steady difficulty progression, which isn't the same.

StoneHead Shooter by Piootrek 2017-12-18T02:19:33Z

Good job! I do wish there was more room or the faces sped up slower. It's too hard to get a good score. The best way is just to spam at one the moment you spawn as fast as you can. The visuals are nice, since you made it in 48 hours.

It's all fine I can drive by squirrelsoft 2017-12-07T20:53:14Z

Good job! I liked the art and the idea! A word of suggestion: Rate other people's games! You have poor ratings because people don't know about your game, but if you rate other games, they rate yours!

Headache by Number6406 2017-12-06T22:10:20Z

Good concept, but this game seems to literally just challenge the player's morality and beliefs. Boring too

Headache by Number6406 2017-12-24T00:23:29Z

@Number6406 I'm not saying it hurt mine, but I am saying that the game very obviously asks the player for his beliefs, and if they don't exactly meet the game's expectations of perfection in morality, then the player will lose.

WAVEFORM by pogo 2017-12-13T16:21:49Z

DANG! That's quite a game you put together! GREAT JOB! I love the art, and the gameplay feels great! It is kinda low on sound, but that's okay.

Deck the Hauls by DrunkardWolf 2017-12-07T21:14:24Z

Dll missing! Can you put it back please?

Deck the Hauls by DrunkardWolf 2017-12-07T21:36:59Z

Thank you! Alright, feedback. My very first thought when I saw this game: "The elves quit, didn't they?" Good job on this entry! I love the art style, and the effect of the theme is very apparent, and very close to the effect on my game. I found it interesting seeing santa dancing on the title screen. Anyway, neat idea!

Escape by asunoz 2017-12-06T02:30:01Z

Interesting idea! The way you used the theme was creative, but kinda... really? Also, I did stop reading the notes. Please don't swear, I'm not a fan, and you didn't need to in this situation. Finally, there is no way to quit midgame unless you quit the application manually. Please please PLEASE add a pause menu to pretty much every game you will build to standalone. I promise you, it will help a LOT.

CrudeCarnageCars40 by elZach 2017-12-04T19:37:58Z

Lol so weird and fun

CrudeCarnageCars40 by elZach 2017-12-06T14:35:10Z

Pretty fun. It does end up as quite a mess after a couple laps though, and you always have that one pole or tree that spins you around and leaves you way behind. Really not a bad entry though, and I would love to see multiplayer on this.

ARTIFACTS by Fran Segura 2017-12-11T02:48:41Z

Lol! My game is named artifact, and it was beat to the punch by another game named artifact! This appears to be a VERY popular name... https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/artifact-1

Identity by Kataware 2017-12-06T16:22:02Z

Decent entry. Needs more content though.

Gun Roulette by Kensou 2017-12-07T21:01:07Z

Good job on this entry! I see a lot of programmer art, but that's okay. The gameplay is pretty cool.

Infection by Daniel Conway 2017-12-06T23:43:59Z

Meh. Good entry, but it has flaws (As all games do)

The World's Worst Ludum Dare! by JoyFired 2017-12-07T16:39:06Z

... Why did I choose this one? Out of all the games on the "zero" page, I chose this one. Let's see how it is. Welp, the title's darn right. You were going somewhere with this one, and didn't get it right really. I like the art though.

BufferMAN: Hack 80's style! by Akryllax 2017-12-06T23:20:55Z

Nice job. Unfortunately, this seems to be a tragic case of source without implementation. I would rather have a level 2 than most of the extra stuff IN level 2. Good job though! It's pretty fun and the graphics are nice, although I would have liked a little sound. It's kinda blurry all the time, and I know this is on purpose, but it's not great.

Overkiller by SubWooferX3 2017-12-08T00:21:07Z

Broken link, please fix! It just says, "There was an error in your request" whenever I try to go to the site.

Trial of the Doggo by Pedrowzee 2017-12-13T21:17:52Z

Good job! A word of suggestion: rate other games!

Cute invaders by sgadrat 2017-12-04T19:17:28Z

Very fun, awesome graphics, fits the theme very well, and very innovative. But the music is a bit repetitive, and kinda loud.

Cute invaders by sgadrat 2017-12-06T19:23:35Z

Fun, but impossible to lose, and kinda boring.

Great Deal by sunnray 2017-12-13T02:35:18Z

Seems very unfinished, but it's a start.

Gluttony Simulator by BelowParallel_Ian 2017-12-06T02:54:30Z

Everything is bad except the audio and the fact that it fits the theme.

Too many Nyans by hijomo 2017-12-05T02:29:59Z

How do you win? Lol. Pretty fun but aren't there copyright laws?

Too many Nyans by hijomo 2017-12-05T15:54:51Z

Have you read the rules? No copyright infringement please...

Perfect Limbo by sirJupitron 2017-12-06T03:00:07Z

Fun game, but doesn't fit the theme and you used the nyan cat stars for limbo.

ToggleGoggle by Spiria 2017-12-07T00:56:39Z

Summarize this game in a sentence: "Equip every single image effect known to man at the same time and make the player WANT to play." Surprisingly, this works! It's pretty odd, but it's cool that way.

Rabbit Farmer!!! by EggshellDog 2017-12-04T19:48:16Z

By far the best game I have tried so far! So fun! But why kill the harmless bunnies when you can OVERPOPULATE THE WORLD!! HAHAHAHAHA

Endless, Nameless by LeonLaci 2017-12-06T15:41:18Z

Great idea, and an okay execution, but when I got to the second terrible, i couldn't move. Also, the art is mediocre, and the audio is the same.

Endless, Nameless by LeonLaci 2017-12-06T15:49:46Z

Scratch that, the "Can't move" Was on purpose. I got FTH gamer and didn't understand. Great execution, great game, so far.

Wumbo No 5 by wizebin 2017-12-06T03:52:32Z

Fun game, but not very innovative. It definitely fits the theme. though.

Dorm Doom by Cataractar 2017-12-16T15:39:58Z

Nice one! Could use some work though. You can win just by doing the project immediately, and if you don't do that, it's too hard. It could use some better UI in game and would benefit greatly from some more sound. Also, there are plenty of glitches to iron out. Overall though, great job!

Games: Behind The Scenes by Gatox 2017-12-07T16:30:53Z

Great job! I seriously think this game deserves a LOT more attention than it's been getting. It has a few bugs, but the overall polish and quality that went into this makes up for it quite well. Great job!

Games: Behind The Scenes by Gatox 2017-12-07T20:00:19Z

@Gatox Review games! Review as many games from as many people as you can, and those people may review yours! It's the best way to gain popularity! Other than that, there isn't much you can do.

Frank's escape by Nyri0 2017-12-13T15:49:12Z

Like the art, it's pretty well done. It could use some SFX/music, implementation of the theme, and a way to get on the helicopter though... anyway, good job.

Delicious Colors by XavierSeal 2017-12-06T15:55:17Z

Ooohhh, fun idea! Unfortunately, it just turns into guessing game that doesn't quite work... Anyway, the graphics are awesome, and the audio is too, but it's not very fun. Keep developing this idea, and I'd like to see what comes out of it!

Jingle Jewels by Bevanhewett1996 2017-12-07T21:28:57Z

Nice, but you never actually die when you fall. You just fall onto a platform at the bottom of the map... Also, the UI could use a little touching up. However, the game is pretty fun, although rather overwhelming with the ridiculous number of enemies. Also, the ragdoll goblins are the wrong scale, like lamsodarncool said, and either the navmeshes haven't been updated recently, or the step height is wrong, so the enemies can't go up or down stairs. You get a massive amount of goblins inside of the stairs when you are upstairs, and a massive amount of enemies upstairs when you are downstairs. Also, the crossbow doesn't fire in the right Y rotation, instead shooting straight forward, and it shoots like a machine gun, leaving no reason to use the torch at all. Anyway, fun pretty game, good entry!

Rocket Jump by RahmKota3 2017-12-05T01:14:42Z

Very interesting game, although it needs music and is a bit glitchy with the jumping and rocket.

Pirate's Escape by BobbyTables 2017-12-06T15:26:43Z

it's a pretty nice idea, but it needs a fair amount of polish and optimization before it's going anywhere.

Defence The Castle by SG Alin 2017-12-06T19:17:55Z

Programmer art tends to happen frequently in Ludum Dare, and that sure happened here. The idea is good, but saying that the controls are "Intuitive" is a lame excuse for not including them (each man may have a different idea of "intuitive"), and the gameplay is rather dull and slow. It takes forever to get to the cannons. I mean, it wouldn't be hard to add STAIRS. Also, mark the game as a web game, not a windows game. It tends to mislead mac users. The audio is nice, but I'm guessing it's not yours.

Stack Stuff by egawag 2017-12-06T03:29:55Z

Fun game! I did notice that it is REALLY easy to exploit however. Just stack a few items and then spam items to keep the item number above the win count and you instantly win. The art is great, and the audio is fine. The game does fit with the theme pretty well, although it's not really innovative. Nice job though!

Worm It Up by Arthur Amorim 2017-12-15T14:59:59Z

Fun. Gets very hard VERY fast, had somewhat glitchy mechanics, and could use some sounds, but the graphics are nice and the game is pretty fun, so good job!

Razza the Gold Shark by Sylver_Kovy 2017-12-08T04:01:28Z

....

Milk Hunt by Weizengaming 2017-12-13T03:20:44Z

Well, it's a good idea, but it does need some improvements. I don't know where to put the full bottles, the character moves absurdly and boringly slow, and the audio does get old after a minute or so. Pretty fun, and a nice idea.

Motion only by DavidLibeau 2017-12-04T19:59:25Z

Fun, but I don't have a VR.

Artifact by notpresident35 2017-12-04T21:49:46Z

@JackIsaacs - I should have mentioned this ingame or something, but you have ammo for your gun. The other three artifacts power the gun. You start with no ammo. Sorry this wasn't readily apparent, I now have added it to the description. Thank you for the feedback though, I'm glad it does what it's supposed to! (scare the life out of the player.)

@Evan Overly - I haven't created a reason to wander off into the wilderness, so you should be fine just sticking to the path, unless you get attacked. Also, the aliens do not spawn until you pick up an artifact, and they don't know exactly where you are, only generally, until you pick up the last one, in which case they always know your exact location. However, they always know a general location around you, so you never get into a situation where you can't kill the aliens. Thanks for pointing this out, it is now in the description.

@Darkgrisen - Sorry it lags. It's a pretty laggy game. I'm not sure how to do graphics quality control, and I didn't really have time for that. I'm glad you liked the quality though!

@Arcadia - You're right, it does feel sorta like slenderman, although the relation isn't on purpose. The effect of the theme in this game is that when you pick up more artifacts with more ammo, you slow down and the aliens find you more easily. This is mostly behind the scenes though, so it's not really apparent. Should've said that somewhere. My description is now updated to include this information. Thank you though!

@Kapura - Success! Good to know it does what it's supposed to do.

Artifact by notpresident35 2017-12-05T05:29:40Z

Thanks guys! I'm glad you liked it and were scared!

Artifact by notpresident35 2017-12-06T01:06:41Z

@Almost-Panda-Studio Thank you! I didn't add an indicator on purpose, because it was intended to feel natural, and any status indicators would break it. I also did not include an ammo indicator and a flashlight battery indicator.

@Smilewood Thank you! The game does not have crosshairs or anything, so it is hard to aim, but I was trying to avoid indicators to make it feel more real, and having difficulty aiming adds to the effect of difficulty in killing the aliens, making it scarier.

@Charles-Cox Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Unfortunately, I used a lot of free art assets from the unity asset store, so I opted out of art to give others a chance.

@Guoboism Yeah, the theme does fit pretty well here. I'm glad you thought so.

@Louspirit Thank you! As far as the movement, it does need some work for sure, but I ran out of time. I also need to figure out how to remove that camera blur. Now, the gun takes 5 shots to kill. I should have specified. I also need some feedback both for the gun firing and the alien being hit, but (again) I ran out of time. Anyway, glad you enjoyed!

@MrPhil Thanks for trying out my game! Sorry that it was confusing and had lots of bugs that I intend to squash in a post jam version. The "glasses" were batteries, but the textures broke, so they look ridiculous. They fill up your flashlight's battery. The flashlight has battery level, so maybe the glitch was you running out of battery. Also, the game is kinda open world and easy to get lost. Maybe I'll try adding a sci-fi compass or something...

Balloon Baffoon by B34k3rM33p 2017-12-06T23:50:06Z

Erm... Could you learn more about the unity engine before trying a game jam? Usually, you learn and then participate in the jam, not the other way around.

Balloon Baffoon by B34k3rM33p 2017-12-07T00:08:24Z

@B34k3rm33p Sorry, it was rather harsh. I think sorting layers would be one thing, along with animations and physics. A better UI would be good too. As far as art, the asset store would have been your friend, since you are competing in the jam. Or, you could look up images. I drew and animated a stick-man for a platformer game in a very short amount of time. Just draw each limb separately. A paid course really helps learn anything, unity especially. This: https://www.udemy.com/unitycourse/learn/v4/overview worked great for me (Goes on sale frequently, got it for $10), but there are a number of sites for that type of things. Anyway, keep it up, but try to pick up some things and spend a LOT of time doing so. That's how I learned. I'm rather new to unity, having only used it for the past 6 months or so.

Super Trader 64 by WildGamut 2017-12-06T04:28:37Z

Erm... No. I get that you were trying to make the N64 graphics, and you succeeded, but I never particularly liked that era's graphics, so I'll try and keep my review neutral. The game is difficult to play, although it works when needed. The character's model is kinda buggy, and the animations aren't great. Also, the game freezes the moment you complete your first trade. Another problem is that there is no pause button or quit button anywhere, you I had to use Alt-F4. Nice entry, and good work, but I don't think it's really all that great.

Enjoy the Flowers by Ethos 2017-12-06T03:54:00Z

Cute, fun game, but the effects of the theme aren't really noticable. What are they? Also, the art is great, but the fact that there are invisible walls and an infinite abyss of nothingness on the map isn't great. Also, the game is sorta fun, but the hills are impossible to maneuver on because you get stuck all the time, and if you fly off the edge of the mountain sideways, you get stuck sideways. Other than that, cute! I REALLY wish you hadn't opted out of humor, because I would have really loved to give a good rating for that!

Little Collector by AtmosEntertainment 2017-12-04T22:32:43Z

I'm not sure what to say here. First of all, it's broken. I'm rather disappointed. The menu music is nice, but it cuts out the moment you press play, leaving you in a dull silence for the rest of the game. The WASD keys are mixed around, so you're moving the wrong way constantly. You effectively have to rotate the keyboard to play this game. Is this on purpose, or are you working in a different country where this is normal? The level is in dire need of cleaning up. I'm not sure if you procedurely generated the rocks on the floor, and if you did, good for you! That's one of the saving factors of this game. Another important thing: Controls! I have no idea what to do, and wandered aimlessly into the distance before giving up. How do you pick up the crystal/do anything? On the graphics side, I loved the menu, but the player model looks broken and the animation for him is also broken. The rocks are pretty nice, and the crystal is pretty. Also, could you clean up the project file? It's kinda hard to find the executable. There's a pretty good way to do this: Building! Here's a tutorial (I learned this just this morning. It's not hard.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nxKAtxGSn8

One more thing: Did you make all of this yourself during the jam? Since you were doing jam, you could have gone and used assets from the unity asset store. I used a LOT of them, and it saved my butt. They are really nice, especially the free ones. I only used free assets.

A final word: I'm guessing this is your first game jam. If so, then good for you! It's mine too! I like that you are learning how to use the unity engine, and everyone has to start somewhere. I'm sorry about the bad rating, but it's literally unplayable, since I don't know the controls. If you want, you have a little time to revise it and fix some of this stuff.

Little Collector by AtmosEntertainment 2017-12-04T22:41:03Z

After going through and working at the source code for 5 minutes, I fixed a lot of it. Here's a few tips: Switch around the input controls. Constrain the rotation of the player so that he doesn't do back-flips. Get the pick up script working!!! (Seriously, the game doesn't even function at all). Increase the movement speed. Please, just get this game working!

This is not a normal village... by rohezal 2017-12-08T00:11:14Z

That was... disturbing. The story was kinda freaky, but at least you aren't playing the part of those three other people, and were doing the right thing. It was well written though, so it was fine. I'm not sure about the effect of the theme. It's hard to notice, aside from the random teleportation thing, but that happens periodically, not based upon whether you have more. I would have preferred the game if it got steadily brighter and brighter, instead of turning it super bright and then back to normal periodically. Also, the teleportation was just plain annoying, and didn't really fit. Anyway, the puzzles were well made, and kept me going for close to ten minutes before I solved it. Overall, good entry.

Apocalypse2D by saviourgaming 2017-12-08T00:19:40Z

Cool. Not too innovative, but it's plenty fun. The art could have used some work though, and the gun doesn't scale when you flip it over, so you're holding it upside down when firing left.

Empowered State by grizeldi 2017-12-06T15:28:58Z

It's pretty good, but needs some optimization and some fixes. For example, if you have a lot of bear traps, and one bunny comes, all of them fire at the one bunny, leaving you with no traps. Also, you can just place a ton of miners on one crystal, so it gets dull because you can just camp around the base. Also, the game starts to lag hard after you place like 20 or 30 turrets total. Good idea though!

Alright, nice game! I like the idea, and the audio/art is fine! However, the gameplay seems uncontrollable. Pretty nice idea, although it could use a little work. The character bobs up and down while moving over little bumps, and while the art is nice, some of the terrain (maybe the ground?) needs some work. I love the idea of a stealth based game though! It's pretty well executed on that point!

Five Star Dining by arcadia 2017-12-06T02:07:39Z

Nice job! I somewhat like it, but the endless amount of people you can have waiting for spots is a little ridiculous. Also, the diminishing returns really hit hard once you reach around 100 ratings, so it becomes almost impossible to lose. I literally had to just sit there for 5 minutes waiting for the votes to overcome this. As far as graphics, it is pretty, with a rather simplistic art style. Innovation is almost none, because it's just another cook'n'serve game. It does fit rather well with the theme, but at a certain point, it just becomes a grinding game.

Drink Or Die by xujiangjiang 2017-12-13T03:23:35Z

Was the 1.2 version made during the jam? Or was it a post-jam version? Anyway, the game is pretty interesting. Alcohol appears to be a common theme. The physics need some work for sure, and maybe a decrease in the spawn rate or effect duration of the alcohol would help the game from becoming boring. However, the art is nice, and the audio is pretty good. The other people are great!

Drink Or Die by xujiangjiang 2017-12-13T16:26:14Z

@iluvatar He probably opted out of graphics because he didn't make them. That's why most people opt out, like me. @brokenvectors The point of the game was to keep everything alive because if anything nearby dies you die, but I didn't have time to add the dialogue system, so it didn't come across very clearly. It was also originally going to be a comedy game (hence the funny intro), but the lack of dialogue caused the same problem :/

FIREKATANA by DPS2004 2020-05-04T14:44:07Z

Overall, this is a pretty good game! I liked the art style, and the audio was very good. However, I did notice that the game speed is tied to your frame rate (my monitor is 144hz, so the game runs more than twice as fast, making it almost unplayable unless I switch my settings). Also, the sword fighting felt janky. Maybe if the sword was able to attack in different directions, like up and down, and always attacked in the direction you were travelling, it would feel better, or maybe you could try something entirely different like the sword attacking towards your mouse. But having it only attack in the horizontal axis felt bad. Despite the issues, the game is still fun, and the dash mechanic is a good addition. Great job!

Pestilence by Whiteseraph 2020-05-02T21:00:49Z

Overall, this was a quite high-quality entry! The art was nice (especially the lighting and colors), the concept was decent, and the audio sounded great. The writing did kinda range in quality; some of it was good and felt natural, and some of it was cringe-worthy or way too long. Also, the mechanics of the game boiled down to "go here and do a thing, spam spacebar, rinse and repeat," which wasn't terribly engaging. (this is a problem my own game had too, so throwing stones and glass houses I guess). Also, the simon says section was a little fast and the codes were a little long, and there was almost no delay after you finished one before the next one started, which all made it a bit too hard. But, overall, this was quite well done!

First Day: Chicken Duty by ParadoxCrusader5 2020-04-23T17:00:47Z

Hello! I see that this is your first Ludum Dare; welcome, and congratulations! You did well! I loved the concept for this game, and I think it fit the theme very well.

That said, I'm going to give you some criticism. It's going to be pretty harsh, so don't take it personally. There was a significant lack of general polish. I understand that it's hard to fix bugs and polish gameplay during a jam with all the other things you have to do. However, there are FAR too many bugs, and it makes the entire game feel as if there was very little effort put into it, even if it had a cool concept and good art. These issues are really the only thing holding this game back from being a pretty good game. Here's the laundry list of issues I ran across just in the first two sections after like 10-15 minutes of banging my head against the wall, but I'm sure I could have found three times as many if I had been able to complete it. - Walking up the stairs only worked half the time, because the other half, the player would either slam his head against the roof or his feet against a step on the stairs (can't tell which), which for some reason stopped all of his momentum and prevented him from moving. You had to jump halfway up or it would act as if there was a roof over your head - The fading transition happens every time you press e (and not just when you grab the gun) - The chicken spawns in weird places, has bad AI, and keeps its health between scenes, so if it spawns next to a fox it can run towards it and instantly end the run or make it effectively over because it doesn't have health for later. - The lighting was unbuilt, which meant an annoying red text was in the top-left corner at all times -* During the chase scene the side the object was on was randomized AND the object was invisible, so you had to blindly guess which side to choose every time. It's probably a rendering bug, but I only have a basic understanding of the Unreal engine. Oh, and if this was intentional, just... don't. This is what made me stop trying to play the game. Don't do that. - The player was unanimated when holding the gun. I can tell you just posed him so he grabs the gun because you couldn't find/didn't have animations for him walking and shooting, but it looks strange in comparison to all the other fully animated characters and scenes. - The gun detected shooting from the gun barrel, not the camera. It made it hard to hit the foxes because you weren't shooting at your cursor. Also, the foxes' hitboxes were tiny, so they were already hard to hit. - The difficulty reset every time you respawned.

Lucky for you, there's some hope. The jam rules say that you are allowed to fix minor issues after the jam, so you might be able to fix the biggest issue (which I've starred) and reupload the game. I would complete the game if you fix that issue (and the issue is one the rules allow you to fix) and @ me. But for now, it's impossible to do.

But most importantly, don't sweat it too much. This is already much better than my first jam game, so keep at it! The only way to improve is to keep at it.

All the best, The President

Rusty by Primum Ludum 2020-04-24T16:03:00Z

Overall, this is a really impressive game! The graphics are phenomenal, and even though the audio for the character is repetitive and doesn't loop well, it sounded good! And of course, the mood of the game was spot on. I will say that the paint popping in and out of visibility was pretty distracting, and the gameplay boiled down to walking through a maze and hoping you went the right way, which wasn't very fun. But those are just a few flaws. Great work!

All the best, The President

Kalkov by TrepoHQGames 2020-04-23T16:15:45Z

Before I say anything else, I want to make something very clear: Everybody starts somewhere. I see you're new to this, and to that I say welcome, and congratulations on your first jam game! You did great!

Now, if you want, I'm going to give you some things you can learn from this and improve on in the future. Don't take these critiques personally: The best way to improve is to get feedback from others.

1. Describe your game to new players. I understand that you were trying to go for "keep an old game alive by updating its code," and you did manage to get that across, but it was confusing and very non-obvious. Even just saying that in the description would help the player understand, because I only really got what I was playing on the final level. You also did not include controls anywhere. You can actually do this now: edit your description to describe the story behind your game and the way it fits the theme, and add the controls. Oh, and nobody needs to know how long the game is unless it's really long. Just let the player see for themselves.

2. Don't be afraid to use assets. You're entering the jam, which means you are free to use assets from online, such as art and music. Don't be afraid to use those resources to make your game better. If one of the people on your team is an artist, you can even have them spruce up those assets and customize them for your game. But don't be afraid to improve your art at the cost of originality. Once you develop an artistic feel for how a game should look to make it look good, assets will look way better than programmer art.

3. Rate games! Seriously, it's important! If you want a rating at the end of the jam, you have to give ratings to other people. Nobody will see your game if you don't rate other games, because the algorithm showcases games from people that review other games. Besides, it's one of the most exciting parts of Ludum Dare. You've made a game, now go have fun!

Everything else that'll help you make good games will come with practice. If you want to improve, the best advice I can give you is to stick to it and keep making games. I know there are probably going to be a lot of people who will be... harsh in their ratings, and this only makes sense, because they're rating you on the same level as seasoned, professional developers. For the first few years, don't worry too much about harsh feedback. Just keep doing what you love.

All the best, The President

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Glide by egawag 2020-10-05T23:45:23Z

Alright, here are my thoughts on the game.

Let's start with the idea: It's great. Don't change it. I think the core concept could easily be polished into a full release of some sort. It's also a really creative use of the theme, so props for that!

Now, some constructive criticism. The gameplay is fine, but it could be better. Firstly, it's much too hard. For a simple game like this, I would guess that the average player will, at most, play it three times. After playing it three times, the highest combo I could reach was around 5. Most of the time, I didn't have a combo at all. There were many times where I scored points within half a second of the combo expiring. Maybe the combo time should be longer, or maybe the ribbon should be longer. At the moment though, it's too frustrating having the combo be at less than double for 2/3 of the game. Second, the timer is probably not an ideal choice for deciding when to end the game. It works, but it feels arbitrary and unfun. It also would be fun to have control over keeping the timer going, but at the moment the game will still end no matter how skilled you are. The game would be much more interesting if, say, the ribbon gets shorter over time, or some of the symbols are bombs that kill you if you loop around them.

The gifs really intrigued me because they look good. However, there are some little details that I feel you could improve without a lot of effort. The UI feels blurry or something, and probably shouldn't be such a harsh shade of black because it clashes with the background; the ribbon needs some hefty anti-aliasing, looks jagged when it makes a sharp turn, tapers off too quickly right at the end, and probably shouldn't just be a solid color if it's combined with other textures; and the background is a bit blurry. But don't let my nitpicks fool you; I still think that it, overall, looks pretty good!

The audio sounds good, but I think it could mesh better with the art style. The sound effects feel too abstract when compared to the more realistic textures, and should probably reflect the appearance of the game a bit more. For example, the symbols explode with a paint splatter effect. Why not try using a sound effect that sounds more fluid or squishy? Maybe your team could nail down the overall aesthetic of the game with greater clarity (either at the start or somewhere down the road), and then have everyone review the art and sounds as they are made to make sure they fit that aesthetic.

Overall, I would say this is a pretty good game that, with more time than a weekend would allow, could become a very good game. And for that, I give it 4/5 stars.

GUNRAIL by Sisyphean Games 2020-10-06T05:02:48Z

The game was fun to play! The mechanics, if a bit unoriginal, were very engaging. I was always on the edge of my seat at the end of a level. I will say that the game is very slowly paced, and the art definitely needs to be complete (I would recognize that default UI knob sprite anywhere), but it definitely doesn't look bad. You could make it look even better in just a couple of minutes by using a color palette (I would recommend coolors.co for this). I would also recommend improving the UI; just picking a custom font from dafont.com will go a long way. Plus, the music did get a bit repetitive towards the end, but putting it at a lower volume like you did was enough to fix it. Good job, and keep at it! You're improving over time, which is a good sign!

Chicken Leggacy by Magic_mike 2020-10-06T18:29:32Z

I really loved the art style, especially with the onions! The music got a bit repetitive over time, but the sound effects were really great! I do think you should probably make it easier to tell where you are attacking and make the attacks have bigger areas of effect because you can only attack left and right, and I really wish I could lay another egg in a later nest after already laying one in an earlier nest, but aside from that, the gameplay was pretty good.

Round Trip by DarkRoasted 2020-10-05T23:55:52Z

It's nice to see a new participant! You'll improve over time if you keep at it, so keep on learning!

LineLoop by Squareworx Studio 2020-10-06T00:05:04Z

Juicy and quite pretty! I think the pixelation filter should maybe be even stronger; lean in to the style! The camera movement is a little high, but it makes things interesting by forcing you to aim where you want to move or you'll die. I would lean into that a little more; maybe make the camera view a bit smaller, or maybe add a timer that resets when you grab the ball so you have to grab it quickly (thus forcing you to make risky decisions and choose whether it's better to shoot or look where you move). The tutorial does feel a tiny bit rushed, and could use some polish, but this is Ludum Dare, so it's a small detail. Overall, I would give this 4.5 stars. Great job!

PS: Opt out of humor since your game isn't meant to be comedic. It'll drag down your overall score!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Delve by notpresident35 2021-04-28T17:21:56Z

@sheinxy I don't have access to a mac, so I can't really help there. Sorry about that! I think I had this issue last ldjam too; still not sure how to fix it.

If anybody knows why a Mac build from a Windows computer wouldn't open, please let me know!

Delve by notpresident35 2021-04-28T18:24:47Z

Wow, y'all really rolled in all at once! Thank you for all the feedback!

@slavi My buddies made the music using Ableton Live, and I made the sound effects with SFXR (it's free, and it's awesome)

@reblys I definitely agree with you on that. There's a sound effect for killing an enemy, but it's too quiet, and I ran out of time to make sure it was the right volume. I also didn't have time to make an enemy death animation, which would have been a big improvement. It's a miracle the player death animation made it in

@toxiccomputer That's a good idea! I originally planned on there being multiple weapons (much like Downwell has weapon sidegrades), so some of them would have shot faster and slower. Then again, I originally planned on making multiple stages lol.

@mastoast Progress bar when you die, very good idea! I'll add it to the pile of "features to add if there's ever a post-jam version."

@martiniano-marelli I agree; the camera shake is a bit overtuned. I'd normally make that a setting so you can disable it, since screen shake makes a lot of people motion sick, but there wasn't time for a settings menu.

@phil-lesnar Thank you! I like the idea of letting the music loop at the bottom; I'll add it to the wishlist.

@wheybags @plomeg @yamzho @aidanmarkham @pd-dev Yeah, you have to be *really* precise if you want to click to shoot. I knew that was going to be an issue, but I didn't have time to rework the code to be more lenient. This is definitely first on the improvement bucket list.

Delve by notpresident35 2021-04-28T18:56:22Z

@cakestorm Thank you for the feedback!

There was a lot overall that hit the cutting room floor that I wish hadn't. I wanted to make a little warning for the spikes, similar to the enemies but less urgent, and I wanted to briefly show the flight paths of the flying enemies. I also wanted at least 2 more enemy types, 2 more hazardous obstacles, and 1 more weapon (which I even made the art for). Heck, I originally wanted 2-4 stages, each with unique music and a different color palette. But this is Ludum Dare after all, and I only had ~6 hours to work on Sunday, so the scope just kinda shrunk over time. I was still making the level design an hour before the deadline lol.

I'd also agree that the background was a little unpolished. I wanted to give it another pass, making it look more like rock while also making it only use 2 colors so it would stand out less. The bullets would also absolutely have had impact effects. Again, cutting room floor.

Thanks for all of the complements! The feedback definitely helps.

Delve by notpresident35 2021-04-29T17:30:56Z

@venitherich Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, there are a lot of features and bugs that I wish I could have added/fixed. Enemies spawning in walls and falling through the floor, not warning the player about spikes, and the platform moving after the player dies were all issues I knew about, but didn't have time to fix. Checkpoints were on the bucket list, so it's nice hearing that it would be a good feature to add. Using reloads (or making the gun shoot constantly) is a good idea; I definitely want to add that.

I'll pass on the complements about the music! I'm sure the musicians will love to hear it!

Deep Cover by Madbarron 2021-04-28T17:14:41Z

Love the style! It feels like it belongs in a comic, which really helps sell the story.

The mechanics do get a bit repetitive, since there's no variety beyond simple fetch quests, but I really like the idea of collecting bits of evidence to get secret keywords. Some simple puzzles (IE if there were some pieces of evidence that had been shredded and you have to get all of the pieces, or if there were some pieces that were partially burned so you have to fill in missing letters, or even some pieces that were so tiny you needed a magnifying glass to read them) would add a lot of flavor to the game.

For a Ludum Dare entry, the whole experience is really impressive! Great work!

Dino Digging by Argon 2021-04-28T17:44:10Z

I spent more time than I care to admit playing this game. Very addicting! Good job!

Some game balance stuff: The pickaxe is leagues better than anything else in the shop. In all cases, it's a better strategy to save up 20 points and buy it first than it is to buy anything cheaper. To compensate, I would make the shovel clear all the dirt from a layer, not just connected dirt, and I would also make both the lamp and the health upgrades purchasable multiple times, starting at 3-5 points and increasing in price with each purchase. Also, the pickaxe shop description should make it clear that it only clears tiles *above* the one you click (assuming that was intentional and not just a design flaw).

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-28T19:42:04Z

I would have bought this game. It was that amazing. Difficult? Yes. But the mechanics were *so* solid, and the art *so* beautiful, and the sound *so* polished, that it had me hooked til the very end. Fantastic work!

Mocap, Mo' Problems by Skleembof 2021-04-28T16:57:24Z

I'm a simple man: I see ragdoll physics, I like game.

Seriously though, good job with the motion capture! There are obviously a lot of things to work out with this entry, but this game is ambitious enough that it's an impressive entry even without a lot of the core mechanics that make it a game. My one nitpick with the mechanics is the attack; it's pretty difficult to pull off. I would recommend either making the attack animation have a shorter windup, locking the closest enemy in place while you attack, or giving the attack a weapon and a much larger hitbox. Aside from that, just running around and smacking enemies was fun enough that this was a good entry on its own merits. Good stuff!

Floody Hell by OursBleu 2022-04-11T23:06:09Z

Stuck In The Hypertext by RealTanHen 2022-04-11T22:37:10Z

Cool story, good art! It would have been more fun if each transition cutscene was skippable or faster, but they were very stylish. Also, being able to click on the blank space around an item to close the item menu, and not just the arrow, would have been much more intuitive. I think if you improved the UX of the game and added some more interesting puzzles the looping time-stop concept is super interesting and worth seeing fleshed out!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Torn by IgorsGames 2018-04-25T23:41:27Z

Good job! I'm really impressed with the art, and the music is superb! The idea is well done, and the dialogue actually feels meaningful for once! I think you should really use the genres rhythm-based and narrative or puzzle or walking simulator or something, not endless runner and walking simulator. Endless runner and walking simulator are WAAAAAYYYY too compatible for this. Luckily, your game fits other themes that are less compatible (and that feel more obvious at first glance), so I will rate it on those.

Good job, and good luck!

Alice Unlimited by ARuculaDoMal 2018-04-25T23:24:46Z

Good job! The graphics and sound are great, and the genres are well mixed! I also liked the animation and the mood. I do think you could use a few more turn cards and a few less attack cards, OR make the character turn after attacking. It was really hard to move anywhere.

Good job, and good luck!

Commodore Combat by Syrapt0r 2018-04-23T19:46:10Z

It looks great! However, I don't think I would call it fun. For one, the only way you can be attacked by anything is by typing check, and then defeating enemies requires no challenge. I suppose this is why these two genres are incompatible. I feel like you could have done more with this, but the interface is really cool and looks amazing!

Good luck

Sudoku Junction by selfsame 2018-04-25T04:47:46Z

Good job! I loved the Kermit frog! It's a pretty good impression. I also love the mood here, and the animation on the characters and Kermit is quite good! That aside, I do think you could make the Sudoku puzzles easier. Standard size is 9x9 or less, so 15 or so is a little large. Also, I think you could do something about the big red flashing POOR text. It's good at letting you know, but it gets distracting and annoying when it's massive and right in the middle of the screen. Good job, and good luck!

Logicatory by zgragselus 2018-05-14T20:30:02Z

So, the first thing I thought when I saw your theme was Uncharted, Portal, and pretty much every major first person shooter made. Seriously, this doesn't fit the theme at all. However, you did a good job! I liked the art. I do think it was a little too good though. Did you use assets? If so, PLEASE opt out of graphics. I also like that you used a puzzle game. However, I do think that the use of checkpoints would have been a good idea. Going over one obstacle over and over got frustrating. I also think you could use some better cues that the caution thing is an enemy. I had no idea what was going on the first two times I was shot by those guys. I also think you could use some audio, and the "You win" thing is the lamest move possible to pull for completing a game. I also got a lot of trouble with the falling through the floor while looking up bug and the seesaw glitching into the cement tube bug. Those major bugs should have been fixed before adding more content, especially since they are game stopping issues. Maybe add a collider under the floor that sends you back to the start, and a failsafe restart for the board?

Goof job, and good luck!

The Chamber by Phaix 2018-05-14T21:46:34Z

Good job! I like the concept, although you totally ripped off portal in almost every way. Unfortunately (just like everyone else here) I was unable to actually win the game. This is really a bad thing. I mean, how hard is it to add a few hints here and there? I killed the cameras, talked to the computer (and failed to leave), and turned every pipe red, blue, yellow, or black, and I still didn't find the solution. This is very bad for a puzzle game. I like the art though, although you should really make the box in the air above the color-changing machine an unlit shader (Look at it from above and you'll see what I mean), and what would be better here is to reduce the massive amount of red herrings in the room. You don't need that many shelves or the water tank or the cake or the pipes, so why have them? It really eats away at the minimalistic style. You could also make the room a little smaller, and make the big table in the middle actually function.

Good job, and good luck!

Lobotomy and You by rodobodolfo 2018-05-06T22:27:24Z

That was... interesting. The concept is hilarious, and the graphics are pretty good. The voice acting is nice, but you do have some issues on the design side. For one, you have no indications as to what you are supposed to do whatsoever. The little nudge with kicking the bowling ball needs a little more. Some sort of reference to his powerful leg would be good, coupled with a little mention of the door needing a little force to open. You could also make sure that the detection for the little cage at the end works better. I found it almost impossible to trigger the end of the game. You need to make sure that it happens every time the player walks into the cage, not just when the player slams into a corner of the door.

Good job, and good luck!

First Person Shooter by aaants 2018-04-28T21:06:39Z

Good job! I love the graphics, and the idea is quite good! I also would like to see it in VR. It sounds like a good idea! I also do wish that there was audio. It feels like an amazing game, but the silence rather kills the fun of it. You know what this means? POST JAM VERSION!

Good job, and good luck!

Rocket Punch by piscythe 2018-04-26T17:02:13Z

Good job! I like the idea of a boxing rocket! It's a good genre combination! I also like the art style! It does get rather exponentially hard though. The number of aliens increases very fast as the number of rockets goes down, and the aliens have too much health to actually deal with them when they start showing up in massive numbers. Some ways to help counter that would be to increase the number of large rockets coming in at the same time or make the aliens have less health and/or drop more fuel to make it worth fighting them.

Good job, and good luck!

Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-04-28T18:57:13Z

Dang! Good job! I love the graphics and the audio is superb! I also love the genre-mixing mechanic, very well done! It's actually fun to type like that! I suggest actually taking this forward as an educational game! I'm sure it would do phenomenally!

Great job, and good luck!

Chesburgrellia by niborious 2018-04-23T18:33:02Z

Good job! I love the aesthetic of the game! It looks pretty, it's well animated, the feedback loops are well done, and the gameplay works wonderfully! I do wish that some of the sounds were better, but the minimalism of a lot of them flowed well and saved the ones that weren't as good. The cheeseburger noise was... interesting. Well done,, and good luck!

@niborious Oops I meant the patty frying noise! My mistake!

Goose Typing Attack by ehtd 2018-04-23T18:35:57Z

Haha! That's awesome! I love the art style here, and the gameplay is pretty well done! I'm not so sure about the genres though. I've played a lot of typing games, and the second genre is pretty commonly used.

Crafty by Brackeys 2018-05-01T17:13:18Z

Great job! I love the art, and the semi-intuitive recipes worked better than most crafting games... Anyway, I do wish for some music, and I do wish it was a bit more innovative.

Good job, and good luck!

ESC by kittyinthestudio 2018-05-06T16:57:24Z

Good job! I love the mood, and the graphics are pretty good for minimalistic pixel art. This fits the theme quite well. I do wish it was a little easier, but it's good for a puzzle.

Good job, and good luck!

BINGO FUEL by LancesCaterpie 2018-04-23T18:38:46Z

I love how the game looks, but I ask you to please use a different hosting service like itch.io. Whether or not the game actually contains a virus, my computer believes there is a virus in the code because of the way it is made and/or hosted.

If you can fix it, I will try again. Thanks!

Marco Polo by microwerx 2018-04-26T14:41:32Z

Good job! I like the mix of genres, and I think you did a good job on the idea! The art is quite nice, although you could fix the sprite packing so it doesn't have random partial pixels in boxes around sprites (if this is unity, go to the import settings and change filter mode to point and compression to none). The music was okay, and the game was fun, but SUPER hard. Maybe make it a little more common to obtain resources and jewels and a little less common to get tapeworms? Seriously, I got tapeworms like three times. What am I doing, drinking larva infested water?

Good job, and good luck!

Pseudonarrative Dissonance by Baby Dino Herd 2018-04-30T01:50:10Z

Good job! I love the way you did the atmosphere! First of all, don't have a long hallway if you're not going to use all of it. It was too tempting to just wander towards the darkness. I love the art though, and the writing is quite good (although really, the detective stereotype was laid on WAY, WAY too thick. Tone it down a little.) The music is nice too. One thing I have to say though is that I don't understand what the genres are. I can think of a large number that would fit this game (mystery, detective, puzzle, narrative), but that doesn't mean a whole lot until you specifically tell what the genres are.

Good job, and good luck!

Colony Sniper by ab200 2018-04-23T19:50:12Z

Rock Reach Flag by willowblade 2018-04-25T15:02:45Z

Good job! I love the execution on the genre combination! The art is pretty good too, and the puzzles are fun, although I wish there were more. I also wish you had sound. Sitting in silence isn't as fun.

Good job, and good luck!

YOU LEFT ME. by Angela He 2018-04-24T14:47:41Z

Now THAT was amazing! I am duly impressed once again by the artist! Great work! I do wish that you had chosen some more incompatible genres than these, and done a slightly more original concept, but the quality of this game well makes up for that! Good job, and good luck!

TetrisBridgeBuilder by GettingRekt 2018-04-28T21:01:52Z

Good job! You did well on the theme, and the gameplay is pretty good. I do wish you made it easier on the later levels and harder on the first one though. Also, I do wish that you made it easier to tell where a block is going to land exactly. I had too many times where I slammed a block into a wall when it appeared that there was a large amount of space between the block and the wall. Also, the music is rather dull, and although the lava art is good, the UI and environment make it clear that this is a FIRE, not a stream of LAVA!

Good job, and good luck!

Stirfry's Rhythm Rave by joltjab 2018-04-26T22:01:07Z

@joltjab Try turning off AO. It might fix the issues with tiling artifacts. Anyway, love the art! The audio is pretty good too, although it's not suited well for a rhythm game. Too many in-between beat notes, and no base whatsoever. The genres are definitely incompatible, and I like how you executed on that (although the music makes it VERY hard to actually platform).

Good job, and good luck!

Speed Card by DanielM 2018-04-25T23:50:31Z

Good job! I love the concept, although your execution on the genre mix could use some work. I like the captions for the cards! I think you could use some work on the battle mechanics though. It was super confusing, cards weren't being used correctly, the draft is seemingly pointless (at least explain its value, because it isn't obvious), and the cooldown really kills the real-time aspect of the gameplay.

Good job, and good luck!

Survival of the Smartest by AMastryukov 2018-05-06T22:37:29Z

You lose? Really? Surely you can do better for a main scare! You did quite well on most of them! The one on the penicillin question was pretty strong. I do wish you had made the player faster or the hallways shorter, because it was really rather boring just walking forwards the whole game.

Good job, and good luck!

From the Breach by erebus 2018-04-26T15:27:28Z

Great job! I'm really impressed! The game is very fun, the graphics are great, the music is really good, the voice acting is pretty well done, and the genre mix is executed flawlessly! Great job! I do think that you could have made more waves and made the enemies actually increase in health so that you didn't just have to make a bunch of turrets the whole game, you could upgrade them, but that's rather nitpicky

Good job, and good luck!

Stealth Trucking by Crabman 2018-04-25T21:42:10Z

Good job, and good luck!

Time Spike by egawag 2018-04-26T15:11:35Z

Good job! It's a really fun entry! You combined the genres really well, and the SFX are quite nice! I do wish that the music clashed a little less though. Also, the background has lines in-between the sprites that leave blue artifacts everywhere.

Good job, and good luck!

@IronPotato Yeah, the bosses are hard to defeat. I had to nerf all of them multiple times in development, and then nerfed them again after release, and they're STILL hard! Also, the enemies do get stuck on edges, but that will be fixed in the next post-jam version. I'm glad you enjoyed!

@piscythe Thank you for the feedback! Greatly appreciated! Just so you know, the arrow keys aren't intended to be used. However, I like that you figured out that you can rotate with WASD and move with arrow keys. I might try to make that a permanent feature after fixing it a little. I think I will use WASD to move and arrow keys to both rotate and shoot (or the other way around). We tried mouse aim, but it was a bit of a disaster. Also, boss health bars are on the way!

The not-so Correct Platformer by notpresident35 2018-04-26T19:24:29Z

*Update Note* The first post-jam version has been released! We changed quite a bit, as is evident from the notes in the description. The not-so Correct Platformer by notpresident35 2018-04-29T16:43:19Z

@MrChippy Thank you for trying the postjam! I'm glad you liked it! We are going to be making some changes to the final boss, so maybe that will help with the issue of the crab being harder. Yes, we are fighting fire with fire. We might nerf the crab some, but nothing major.

@batmanasb Yes, lots of things were broken. We fixed a lot of them, such as the enemies getting stuck and bosses turning around, and we made it much easier to kill literally anything with mouse controls. The final boss also had some changes, so you can't just sit still and pump bullets in him anymore. I'm very glad you liked the platforming. We will be keeping it around, but it will be changing forms (and hopefully for the better).

@Aaron Nemoyten Thank you for the feedback! The boss health bars should help with the bullet sponge feeling a little, if you play the postjam. I'll try to help with the hit feedback on enemies and the movement code. I never realized about the movement, but now it feels super obvious. Thanks!

The not-so Correct Platformer by notpresident35 2018-05-03T14:50:36Z

@Zukureneno I'm glad you liked it! Yes, the controls are a bit tough when platforming, but that is one of the weird quirks of a top-down platformer.

@GenTel I'm glad you liked the game! Yes, we do need some better platforming behavior. This will be more apparent when we introduce a higher stress environment in the form of boss attacks while platforming. I'll work on adding some leniency. Another item to the big bad to-do list. Thanks for the feedback!

The not-so Correct Platformer by notpresident35 2018-05-09T00:33:21Z

@PhilStrahl Thank you for trying my game! I appreciate the feedback. I think I'll try some sort of color-changing bullets so you can see them better on all levels, and I'll try some options for visual feedback on the enemies, as well as audible feedback. There are a lot of problems that you found that we squashed in the post-jam version, the biggest ones being boss health bars and mouse controls. Hooray! While you aren't recording any more videos, I recommend trying the post jam to see the differences and the solutions to the problems you discovered. I also think I will do some rethinking on the jump mechanics. It already seemed rather flat to me, and it needs some visual boosting. As far as content goes, I highly recommend going through the post-jam and checking out the final boss, the epic peak of the game. It hasn't changed a whole lot, so you can pretty fairly judge it off of that. As far as the puzzles, that's what the 5th level is for! I was using the first 3 or 4 levels to give the player an introduction to the game and a feel for the game, and then the 5th level is the penultimate that uses what the player knows. Cheers!

Triassic Park by GiraffeCat 2018-04-25T22:02:31Z

Good job! I like the concept and the art! It could use some music (this is a stealth game), fewer dinosaurs (you can't do anything without walking into one), and slower turning on the dinosaurs (They snap to where they're looking, which can be 180 degrees from where it's looking currently. Rather obnoxious, since they can instantly spot you in a large circle around you).

Good job, and good luck!

Storming Sands by grizeldi 2018-04-24T15:08:59Z

How to make a racing game fit with a tower defense game... I know! Let's make all the cars super slow to make the racing part long, dragged out, and boring, and then cut out of the race really frequently and make you go all the way back to the base to kill the tanks! Seriously though, good job! The 3D art is darn good, the sound is at least decent, and the gameplay of fighting the tanks was somewhat fun! Good job and good luck!

Light At Night by Extrone 2018-04-27T18:58:12Z

Was this all original music, or was it a mix of premade beats, or was it premade music? Hard to tell. Anyway, good job! It's fun, it fits the genres well, and it looks quite good! For a rage game, it was really easy UNTIL the last level, where the difficulty spiked REALLY badly. Maybe make the earlier levels easier OR make it so that you only get one life, then you have to start over. It would fit the rage theme better. Also, since when is mystery 3d platformer a genre? There's three genres here...

Good job, and good luck!

INSiTU by tulipekoni 2018-05-14T19:14:32Z

Good job! I like the art, and the theme fits quite well! I'm impressed that you took on a puzzle game in a game jam! That takes a lot of work! I do wish you had used the music in the game though, even if it's just the same music as the menu. I also suggest removing the introduction. Often, games do better with no plot in a minimalistic style or a simplistic game. It often leaves the benefit of the imagination in its place, and lets the gameplay and art tell the story. Games that do this: Mario, Spelunky, etc. If you really want the introduction, you have to add a conclusion to go with it. A story with a beginning but no end falls very, very flat (unless you're using a cliffhanger, but even that is a conclusion of sorts).

Good job, and good luck!

Haiti Kitty by Beebo Studios 2018-04-25T14:55:13Z

Dang! You've got a good one! This is really fun! I love the art, and the idea is hilarious! While the audio is a little lacking, the mood more than makes up for that. Good job, and good luck!

LD41 by Horbee by Horbee 2018-04-25T23:31:04Z

Good job! I like the art, and the idea is quite good! I do wish there was a little more to do though. The shooting was rather boring, and the fact that there's only one enemy that just teleports around is rather lame. Maybe a worthy opponent trying to score against you? I know AI are hard, but it's well worth it.

Good job, and good luck!

Ducks Hunter (Shooter + Racing) by StarzzDrak 2018-04-23T18:48:13Z

This is why they call these genres incompatible. First of all, I am also a young teenager, so I'm glad to have you on board! The idea for this is a good one, and it fits the theme perfectly. I do wish you added some music. Also, the physics could use some work, and the AI could use a LOT of difficulty curbing to actually make the game winnable. Nice job modelling the ducks!

Good job! (PS - A suggestion for next year: keep it 2D! It's very hard to make 3d assets in such a short time AND program a game that's fun and doesn't have thousands of bugs. I know because I tried it and ended up using assets for all of the art in my game last Ludum dare, and the game STILL wasn't all that great.) Good luck!

Rainy Day by WFMG 2018-04-26T21:51:39Z

Pretty fun! I like the mechanics and the art. I'm not so sure about the default unity terrain outside though. Maybe cut down on the terrain part and bring up the number of trees visible? Anyway, it's a good concept, and it's pretty fun! The audio could use a little work, but the music is pretty good.

Good job, and good luck!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-26T14:51:50Z

I seem to be unable to ever get ammo. Ever. Anyway, good job! I love the idea, and the genres mixed quite well! I like the audio, and the gameplay is quite interesting. I do think the graphics in the survival portion could use some work (why not make it 2D? You already have all the movement and stuff in 2D, so why not just display it that way?), and the fact that I NEVER got any ammo was an issue.

Good job, and good luck!

Manly Thomas by Yippiez 2018-04-23T20:24:05Z

Good job! Nice art, although the blurriness rather ruined it. The audio was a little lacking, but that's okay when compared to the interesting mechanics. Good job, and good luck!

Card 'Em Up by stderr 2018-04-27T02:11:13Z

Good job! It's fun to play and fits the theme very well! The audio is good, and the art is quite nice for a minimalistic style. I do wish it was easier though, and the fact that you can't actually shoot the thing that's killing you is a bit of a hamper.

Good job, and good luck!

BIRKANOID by MateCziner 2018-04-23T19:25:57Z

Nice job! I love the aesthetic of this game, and the feedback is great! The two genres mesh a little well to seem incompatible, and it could use some music, but other than that, great job! Good luck!

The Cards You're Dealt by Raindrinker 2018-04-23T18:56:14Z

Great job! I love the idea, and I love the roguelike genre! I badly wish I had time and ability to use that genre. Maybe next time. Anyway, the art is good, the puzzle scheme is great, and it's genuinely fun to play! Good luck!

Left for Bread by GregK 2018-04-25T14:25:20Z

Fun! Good job! The art style is good, the concept is interesting, and the mix of genres isn't half bad. The audio could use some work, and there are some issues (the toast uses exit time on every animation making him run for a sec while stopped, the background doesn't quite loop correctly leaving visual tears, etc.) but these are rather nitpicky issues for Ludum Dare. Post jam version, anyone?

Good job, and good luck!

Modern Fairway 4: Spec-Ops in the Rough by Lost Dutchman Software 2018-04-27T14:02:58Z

Good job! I love the idea! It's hilarious shooting a golf ball into a hole. It fits the theme very well. However, I do wish you had made your own art, FPS system, and/or music. Using some assets is okay, but this is too many, especially since the FPS asset you used is old and rather garbage to play. I also wish you made the player faster. You spend most of your time chasing the ball as it rolls back down the hill than you spend actually playing the game.

Good job, and good luck!

Learning with Mr. Bear by Nessa 2018-04-25T21:24:05Z

I saw a horror game mixed with children's game genre coming, and here it is! The execution is pretty darn good. I love the graphics! I do wish you had used a voice filter or a better voice actor, but that's okay. It's dang innovative (There's a reason that you're innovating here. Nobody does this professionally), and matches the theme almost perfectly!

Good job, and good luck!

Mom, I was stolen by UFO by Croosle 2018-04-30T21:34:37Z

Good job! I like the visuals, and the audio is nice! I do wish it was easier though, and the fact that there is no feedback when you hit an enemy isn't great. I also like the roguelike genre, ambitious, but well done!

Good job, and good luck!

Rythmic Shooter LD41 by Zicman 2018-04-23T21:39:43Z

Great job! Love the art! I wouldn't say that the genres were very incompatible though, and the music (the heart and soul of a rhythm game) is rather lacking, but other than that it's quite well done! Good job, and good luck!

Gun Appetit! by Nyunesu 2018-04-28T15:40:31Z

Outstanding work! I'm duly impressed! The gameplay is awesome, the graphics are beautiful, the music fits really nicely (love how the menu music is a calm little tune and then the fighting music is heavy rock), and the theme works really well here! My only concern is that it's too hard to cook while in a fight. Maybe make the cooking menu slow down the zombies a little so you can actually cook stuff?

Great job, and good luck!

Dead man's hand by ItPlay 2018-05-02T18:43:10Z

Good job! I love the graphical style, and the atmosphere is really well done. The mechanics are great, and the gameplay is quite fun. I recommend opting out of humor because your game isn't funny enough to be worth staying in. There is a little humor in the card summaries, but it's not enough to justify leaving it in, especially since having a bad humor grade can drag your game's overall grade down as a whole!

Good job, and good luck!

Don't Fry Michel ! by Vladadamm 2018-04-28T21:47:19Z

Good job! I love the graphics, and the gameplay is quite fun! I do think that you need to make it a LOT easier for the chef, or a LOT harder for the fish. We played like 10 times, and the fish only lost once because he gave up.

Good job, and good luck!

Reverse by MrJake7X 2018-04-24T14:33:14Z

Question: What are the two genres you combined? I don't get it. Besides that, this is an impressive game! The art is dang good for 3D, and the puzzles are cool and interesting. However, the audio is a little lacking, the character controls are floaty and often unresponsive, and the game could use a little more of a victory than "Coming soon." Other than that, great job!

Tactical Hydra by MacDoom 2018-04-26T21:17:54Z

Good job! It's really fun and looks great! I like the audio (minimalistic but fitting) and the genres are combined flawlessly! The cloak doesn't really provide much feedback as to whether it is working or not, but that's okay.

Good job, and good luck!

A Skeleton Story - Ludum Dare 41 by Zukureneno 2018-04-26T15:02:43Z

Good job! I love the art and music! The game idea was a good one, but I don't quite understand how this fits the theme. I also like the animation, and the platforming physics feel great! I do wish you did a little better on the storywriting, but the story makes up for it.

Good job, and good luck!

Monster Stew by Aaron Nemoyten 2018-05-01T17:23:40Z

Good job! I don't really like the 2D billboard style for the enemies though. It looks rather ugly. Also, the enemy detection didn't really work that well, and the fact that the cooking pot is so small in one place is rather annoying (not to mention the fact that you die if you walk into it)

Good job, and good luck!

Mud and Pixels by Hare Software 2018-04-24T14:51:22Z

Good game! I think that you chose what are possibly the hardest genres to combine, because it is quite literally impossible! Because of that, I don't think you did very well with theme because you fit completely into turn-based shooter. However, the gameplay is nice, I love the art style, and the mood feels well done. I do wish you added music though.

Overall, good job, and good luck!

Bananalicious by Jesper K 2018-04-25T15:12:58Z

Good job! Hilarious concept! It is rather creepy though. I know what to call this! Bananabalism! Anyway, the art and animation is pretty darn good, and it's fun to play!

Good job, and good luck!

Rootin' Tootin' Shootin' by tomonaku 2018-04-26T15:42:46Z

Good job! It's a really fun game, and it looks quite good, considering it's all white cubes. Sorta like superhot. Anyway, I do wish you had some music. It kinda kill the old west mood.

Good job, and good luck!

Dirty Race by Shape 2018-04-25T03:02:27Z

Good job! Really hard to play though, and the puzzles... or can you call them puzzles? I would say this is more of a basic arithmetic test of some sort. Maybe call it a racing educational game? I like the art though. This is really well done 3D art for Ludum Dare! Good job, and good luck!

Quickdraw by nudle 2018-04-25T14:46:26Z

Great game! I loved the mechanics of a card-based FPS! This is a really well done combination! It was fun, innovative, and fit the theme! Now, I do wish it wasn't a cube environment, but it's Ludum Dare, so it doesn't matter that much (good job modelling the weapons, BTW). I would love to see an extended (and maybe procedurally generated? That would be insane!) post jam release!

Good job, and good luck!

SCARE-CADE by lum 2018-04-28T21:26:52Z

Good job! I love the graphics, and the gameplay is very fun! I like the minimalistic audio, and the genres mix quite well (a little too well, but that's okay).

Good job, and good luck!

Happy Town by Alegz 2018-04-24T15:16:41Z

I like the aesthetic of the game, and it's kinda fun. Good job! Could use some music and some sounds to clarify that what you're doing is good. Also, don't EVER make a progress bar red unless it's a bad thing you're doing.

Good job, and good luck!

Ludums Kitchen by tommohawkaction 2018-04-27T02:43:22Z

Good job! I love the art and audio! The theme fits very well, and the game is genuinely fun. I do wish that you added more time so that you had time to go down and get three pieces of meat for a single order (or allowed you to carry multiple things, that would work.

Par 99 by notnullnotvoid 2018-04-29T17:14:42Z

Good job! I love the metroidvania genre, and the mini golf worked quite well with it. The graphics are nice, and the mechanics and puzzles are quite well done. Good job!

Witch's Escape by cristiano.m.garcia 2018-05-06T22:10:31Z

Good job! I like the art, and the theme fits very well! I know that it has been mentioned by many other people, but I will say it again: Add a penalty or prevention against spamming keys. Just spamming to win kills the fun factor, especially since it does so well. Add some sort of impediment to this, like a magic bar that goes down as you press keys but refills over time and when you destroy stuff. Pretty good audio, and a pretty good mood too. I recommend opting out of humor so you don't get dragged down by the rating.

Good job, and good luck!

RuneTowers by Tiberon 2018-04-25T03:28:52Z

Good job! I'm impressed! The art is great (especially on the match 3 section), and the audio is superb! The web version seems to freeze on load though, so I couldn't get it to work. I like how you combined the genres, although I wouldn't necessarily think they were very incompatible, but that's okay. It's pretty incompatible, which is fine by my standards. I recommend that you opt out of humor though, as it is in no way humorous, and you're just going to get knocked down for it.

Good job, and good luck!
