......... Really? I can run off the screen, the controls aren't great, and I have little idea what to do. Good try, but this is a miss, sadly.
Nice work! I feel like the character sprite could have been improved in a few easy ways, such as simply flipping horizontally when turning in the other direction. All in all, it's a very basic game, and that's not a bad thing. Also, telling the player the controls at the beginning would have been nice, even though they're not hard to figure out.
I thought the game was actually pretty fun, and the idea was very good.
I thought that the art was appropriate, and the controls worked well. This doesn't hurt your rating, but I think using "A" and "D" along with the arrow keys would be great.
The only thing I saw the could have used work were the way the plates let you know how unstable they were. It wasn't easy to see, as they piled up, how much of a risk I was running on dropping them. It wasn't until I tried to spill the pile did I start seeing the wobbling, then it just went overboard. My only recommendation would be to make the scale of instability more known to the player.
Good Job! I think it can be improved if you had some music, some old-timey stuff. I didn't actually know you could destabilize the stack of plates. Maybe I didn't get the stack high enough, but I had to try to get them to fall off.
You got me to play it twice. Is there a reason movement feels so stuttered at times? Am I supposed to be able to move no matter how high it gets? Nice use of theme. Good work.
Thanks for the feedback. To answer a few questions...
Yeah, it's a bit clunky, and certainly underbaked. I did not put near as much time as I could have into this, and kind of did it on a whim. Not excusing, explaining.
I appreciate the critiques! As far as movement being stuttery, there are conditions (being hit by a knife, stepping on broken plates) that cause the character to be stunned, but I don't think I conveyed that well.
