LD42 — Running out of space

Gel Break by HitchH1k3r 2018-08-19T17:36:11Z

I tried to extract the windows jam version and got the error: gelbreak_ld42_windows.zip: Checksum error in Gel Break\Gel Break_Data\globalgamemanagers.assets.resS. The file is corrupt gelbreak_ld42_windows.zip: The archive is corrupt Redownloaded, same error

Sticks and Stones by harark 2018-08-16T16:44:44Z

Interesting concept! I like the player sprite and the audio. You made good use of the theme with a unique take on it. It'd be nice if you could ward off the inevitable ending by collecting the hearts reduce the size of the text. Atm there isn't really a point to collect the hearts. Overall good job!

Growing Cities by Igor KinGamer 2018-08-16T04:27:35Z

Nice take on the theme! I dig the concept you came up with here. I haven't played an urban planning game since sim city :P It would be nice if the resolution was scaled up a bit. Also the audio only plays in the left channel. If your sound effect files are mono they can easily be made stereo with a free app like audacity. I had fun playing!

Ghost Cleaner by akai_0okami 2018-08-30T04:20:03Z

Fun game! I dig your pixel work and combined with the sound/music it really creates a positive mood and playful atmosphere. I enjoyed the concept and the mechanics are great. I would have liked to see some kind of score kept and the tie in to the theme is loose but I had a great time playing. Good job!

Senbir by CliffracerX 2018-08-18T05:29:09Z

You're an absolute madman for this and I mean that in the best way lol. This has to be the most ambitious jam entry out there. Regarding the UI, it was ultra tiny on my 4K monitor. It'd be nice if it would scale up. Very interesting and unique submission!

Endless Game by gmaker 2018-08-24T03:18:37Z

Wow I love the music! Probably best I've heard this jam. The graphic style is excellent and I enjoy the splatter animation. You made good use of the theme and the game is really fun to play. I'd like if you actually had to attack the enemies to kill them and colliding with them resulted in death (or loss of health) to increase the challenge. Also on my fourth play the player didn't spawn and I was stuck watching the spikes destroy platforms. Great game though it was a blast to play!

Slaughter House by masterkrepta 2018-08-19T22:59:42Z

I dig it! I like the art style and the audio was fitting. The mechanics you implemented make good use of the theme. The concept is funny and the game is generally fun to play. I'd like to see the colliders reduced in size because you take damage when the animals are still a distance away from you. Pushing the animals into the grinder could be a bit more player friendly as well. Also the text elements of the UI looked small compared to the health/lives when playing in 4K. There seems to be a spawning bug when you play after seeing game over. Nothing would spawn for me unless I exited the game and started it again. Nice submission!

Housing Crisis Island Wars by piscythe 2018-08-19T17:55:39Z

Great mechanics! You incorporated the theme well and the graphics are pleasant. The game is genuinely fun to play. Some in game instructions would be a good idea and sound would seal the deal. I'd definitely play a post jam version! Great submission!

Package Overload by Pete 2018-08-22T03:37:54Z

Fun game! The graphics are simple but do the trick. The music and ambient audio help to reinforce the hectic atmosphere and mood. The control was responsive although I'd do away with having a different mouse button to drop the package. You made good use of the theme and the game is challenging. Nice job!

Wall Press by johnnwfs 2018-08-18T04:52:20Z

I like the concept you came up with! It makes good use of the theme and it's an interesting spin on the block/tetris genre. I'd like to see the move speed dialed down a bit and I also think it would be more intuitive if the player rotated the same direction you're moving rather than having to use spacebar. My game would randomly end on both WebGL and Windows without any blocks touching the defensive zone (not sure if anyone else experienced that). I also found a bug where after you use a bomb you can't stick a block to that side until you use a bomb on a different side. I think this game has a lot of potential after the jam. I hope you keep working on it!

Bardolf's Curse by mrjoshuamclean 2018-09-04T15:28:32Z

I haven't played a game like this since I was a kid - it really took me back! I thought the writing was great. Very impressive especially given the amount of time. I thought the tie in to the theme was a bit loose but it was one of the more unique games I played this jam and I enjoyed it. Good job!

Spaceless Space by Maffew 2018-08-18T05:06:36Z

Nice take on the theme (and a funny title :P). I like the pixel work and the music. The pulse bomb kind of feels like an ode to missile command. I like the short grace period you get after losing health as well. It's satisfying dicing up asteroids with that protective shield :P I'd like to see the score oncreen during playing rather than just after the game is over. Good job with this!

Bury The Dead by wdhg 2018-08-19T23:39:28Z

Great pixel work! I like the look of the game and how you worked with the theme. It's fun to play although a tad easy if you pre dig your holes. One thing I would change is using the mouse to dig. I feel like a keyboard button like shift would work better since you don't actually have to click on the spot you're digging. Nice compo submission!

Taco Time by thedragonllama 2018-08-17T20:45:27Z

I love the pixel work! Looks great with a really charming art style. You used the theme well and the game is fun to play (although a bit too hard imo). I'd like to see the drop speed lowered a bit to make it a bit easier. I didn't hear any audio but I noticed sound credits. Not sure if this is a bug or not. One bug I did find is when you click menu then return to gameplay, if you walk right the menu button will regain focus and become activated when you jump. Clicking the game area clears the focus. Good job with this!

Become a Monster by Rodrigo Denúbila 2018-08-22T03:52:35Z

I dig the logo! Really polished looking game. I have no idea how you made those assets and the game in a weekend - props! The animation is great and there is a nice level of detail in the environment. The concept is interesting although it doesn't tie in strongly to the theme. Also I didn't see any reason to eat/drink anything. Fun (and funny) game though! Nice submission!

Overflow Control by dcrdro 2018-08-20T00:29:05Z

Nice use of the theme! The graphics are simple but clean. I like the blur when you move the blocks. I think the control is better suited for mobile but it works with the mouse. The difficulty ramps up pretty quickly. I couldn't pass level 7 after many attempts. It would also be nice if you could start from previously completed levels. Nice submission!

Stax of the Dead by loveapplegames 2018-08-17T21:51:41Z

I had a blast playing this one! Simple and well designed. You made good use of the theme and the variety of enemies is great! I also enjoyed your pixel work. Great submission!

Bug Squasher by erikiene 2018-08-16T21:20:13Z

I had a blast playing this game! Very unique idea and a great use of the theme. Graphics are good, audio is hilarious, and the game is challenging. On my first playthrough I experienced an exception right when the game ended but it didn't happen the second time around. Good job! bugs.png

Running Away by crastinator 2018-08-17T22:21:31Z

Funny take on a runner game! I dig the player sprite (kind of reminds of of Astroboy). The switch from traditional runner in the second level is refreshing as well. The first level is buggy with being able to jump along under the platforms but overall the game is both fun and amusing. Great compo submission!

Galactic Wars by jondalnas 2018-08-24T03:50:55Z

I dig the take on retro arcade aesthetic with the glowing geometry on the solid black background. Very much a homage to Asteroids meshed with the theme of the jam. I like the sounds but I think you should maybe vary the pitch based on the object size because it gets a little monotonous. Also it would be nice if collision with the asteroids damaged the player to increase the challenge. I had fun playing! It took me back :)

Slimeblast! by svntax 2018-08-24T03:32:25Z

Nice use of the theme! I enjoyed the pixel work and the interactive title screen was a nice touch. It's fun to play and the thwack when your slime hits the ground is very satisfying as well. I'd like to be able to see the player's health onscreen and also I wasn't sure what the ending condition actually was because it would always end while there was still unslimed tiles. My high score was 71%. Good job!

SQUASH KILL by Smithy 2018-08-15T18:32:59Z

Fun game! Simple and well executed. Squishing zombies is a blast and you made good use of the theme. I would like if the player rotated faster but the current speed adds to the challenge. Good submission!

Blazing Balls by Ayushman 2018-08-23T03:50:34Z

This is a fun little game! The graphics are simple but clean and do the trick. I enjoy the retro audio. It's challenging and fits the theme. I wish the control was a bit tighter especially because you have to move to earn points. Might be interesting if rather than the player getting bigger, the enemy that strikes you gets bigger. Either way I enjoyed playing. Nice submission!

Hurry Fruits by Marin0104 2018-08-15T18:03:42Z

Interesting idea! I know you didn't make the graphics/sound but you chose and paired them up well (that music is funky!). Good use of the theme and a fun twist on this type of game. I experienced a bug on my first playthrough that I couldn't replicate. While the board was full size I dragged a fruit and it dropped to the bottom left spot and stacked on top of a fruit down there. Besides that everything else was smooth. Nice submission!

Swirling Infestation by Coda Highland 2018-08-23T04:11:52Z

Interesting concept! I enjoyed the character sprites and the audio. You made good use of the theme with a unique take on it. I felt like the movement was a bit unresponsive (the player will often keep moving after the button is released) and the game was easy overall but I had fun playing nonetheless. Nice submission!

Escapeless by HellSquirrel 2018-09-04T16:01:41Z

Great job on the graphics! That along with the sound effects really created a creepy atmosphere. The experience really reminded me of an escape room. I found the mouse sensitivity too high so it would be nice to able to adjust that. Also while I enjoyed the music, I felt like it clashed a bit with the mood of the game. I got stuck on level 4 :P Nice submission!

SHIP-A-TRON by Daniel Conway 2018-08-30T04:34:11Z

Nice and easy to pick up. You made good use of the theme and the graphics, while simple, are pleasant. The control is responsive and I enjoyed the mechanics. I found the game a bit easy. I think to increase the challenge you could make it so you can't drop additional boxes on completed platforms and also remove the ability to toss them off the edge. Good job!

Thug Slugs by thunderawesome 2018-08-16T16:31:45Z

I really like the voxel graphics! Did you use MagicaVoxel by chance? The concept is good and the environment you came up with creates an enjoyable atmosphere. I didn't really see the theme involved at all though. Had fun playing!

Dark Colosseum by BinarySpark 2018-08-16T20:29:14Z

This is a great game! I love Bomberman and the twist you added is both fun and perfectly matched to the theme of the jam. The graphics look nice and the audio sets an intense mood. Also very cool you added bots. Great job!

Nose Picker by gimbalock 2018-08-19T23:16:53Z

Only managed to get into the game twice (by manically clicking all over the nose and moving the mouse) and both times it was instantly game over. Not going to rate because I was unable to play. At the very least I would redesign how to start the game.

Snow Day by chispaLBC 2018-08-15T21:57:02Z

Fun game! I really enjoy the pixel work you did. The music suits the game well. Also the concept of having to shovel snow to earn money to buy food for your cat is both original and funny lol. There seems to be a bug with earning money though. You can stand in one spot and keep clicking and earn money even if there is no snow around. That's a quick fix though. Good job!

Snow Day by chispaLBC 2018-08-16T03:36:23Z

@chispaLBC ah my mistake! Literally says that in the how to play lol :P

Jumpless by ChicoMCastro 2018-08-20T04:08:35Z

Fun game! I like the art style and the parallax scrolling with the background. The control is slick and being able to slide down the wall is nice. I dig the limited number of jumps mechanic you implemented and how it ties into the theme. The only thing that's missing is sound. Great job!

Sky Runner by BelowParallel_Ian 2018-08-19T23:57:35Z

Nice simple infinite runner. I enjoyed the intro and the transition into space. The music is charming and the player is amusing as well. I'd like if your jump height varied depending on how long you hold the button and also if you could duck under the meteorites as well. Nice entry!

Space(bar)Invaders by Carraka 2018-08-25T17:28:28Z

This is a great take on the theme! Loved the art style. Everything is very clean and stylish. The music is good (title song is amazing although much louder than in game music) and the mechanics are solid. I enjoyed the difficulty ramp up and the QA ratings after the level are funny. Great job on this!

Tunnel Racer by ctrble 2018-08-21T15:34:22Z

Fun game! I enjoy the graphics and the frantic audio is anxiety inducing lol great for the mood of the game. You utilized the theme well. I made it to the end on my fourth try. Control wise I would ditch the mouse look altogether and maybe even the brake/thrust (I didn't use them). Great compo submission!

Block Fall by GeroX 2018-08-16T20:01:54Z

I enjoyed this game! Good use of the theme, the graphics are pleasant, and the sound effects are suitable. The controls definitely need work. I think even just changing shoot to spacebar would make a big difference. Nice submission! Especially for compo!

Trail by Petitpadawan 2018-08-21T22:27:08Z

This is awesome! The graphics are simple yet stylish, the audio is amazing, and the game is a blast to play! Great use of the theme. I also enjoyed the level design. I'd like if the trail color was slightly different from the player to be able distinguish when things are getting crowded. This is a stand out game of the jam imo!

Line 42: Space Subway by isubka 2018-08-20T00:47:23Z

Very polished! The graphics and audio are great. I like the look of the aliens and also the effect when traveling through space. You used the theme well and I enjoyed the mechanic of having to decide where to place the alien based on its preferences. Excellent submission!

Bloody Hooligans by Natwomb 2018-08-20T03:54:50Z

I had a blast playing this! It's really satisfying to fishtail around splattering people all over the place lol. The game looks and controls great. The audio is good (would have liked flamethrower sound though) and you made great use of the theme. Excellent submission!

Inventory Heroes by Gonzalol 2018-08-16T16:17:19Z

Graphics are great! I like the art style. It would be nice if the items impacted gameplay (being able to use the potion for health would definitely help). I think you should get rid of the countdown to collect the item since if you click it or wait it out the result is the same (although you may have been planning to let the player use items during that period to free space). Definitely something you should develop further after the jam. Good job!

Trophy Hunter by dasun 2018-08-16T21:38:50Z

Great game! The pixel art is very impressive. I like how you incorporated the theme and how it becomes a built in difficulty scaling mechanic. I enjoyed the sound as well (music would really seal the deal). I experienced a bug a couple times while playing. Right when the level started I was stuck walking backward or forward without pressing anything. Love the concept and execution!

Chambers by RemiCraft 2018-08-17T21:33:45Z

Very creepy! This is an interesting take on the theme. The dark environment and ominous music really creates a dread filled atmosphere. The flashlight looks good but there isn't really a reason to use it. Might be cool if you could scare the creature away with it (as long it had a battery or something so you had to ration the use). Either that or make the environment dark enough where it would come in handy. Also a loud sound when the creature attacks could be a nice jump scare :P Can you escape the warehouse? I couldn't find a way out. Good submission!

Displacer by JesterSeraph 2018-08-20T15:11:14Z

Interesting idea! I like the gloomy aesthetic and the humming sets a somber mood. You made good use of the theme. My last LD reinforced to me that in-game instructions are a must so that's something I'll pass along. I'd also like to see a score system. Good job!

Adware Attack by AdonisDevs 2018-08-18T04:22:14Z

This is a great game! I see we both went with the desktop running out of space - I really enjoyed your take on it! Well executed and good use of the theme. The audio is funny and effective. Really turns up the anxiety when all the voices are clamoring on haha love it. Even more impressive that this is your first LD and you went compo. Kudos!

Too Close by Zayah0_0 2018-08-19T00:03:42Z

I like the concept! The art style, while simple, has a retro feel that I dig. Also losing viewing area as your panic meter rises provides added incentive to lower it so you can properly navigate the environment. I'd like if the enemy attacks made the meter rise faster because they are inconsequential atm. Very unfortunate about the power situation! You may be aware of these but a couple bugs I noticed are: - When you finish the game you can still walk around. This can lead to you being stuck in the wall when you restart - If you go back down after you enter the second room you can navigate around through the walls

Zero Star by CristiHKJ 2018-08-17T19:50:06Z

Interesting concept! I really like the background and the impact particles. The sound effects work as well. I first thought the goal was to get the biggest explosion size since it's increasing but the win condition is killing the mother ship. That kind of makes the explosion size aspect inconsequential to the gameplay. I also found that if you hold a direction the enemy rockets will never hit you. Also the game ends at explosion size 2300 regardless of if you take any damage (not sure if that's an intentional time limit or not). Looking forward to seeing what updates you come up with! Nice submission!

Zero Star by CristiHKJ 2018-08-17T20:26:13Z

@cristihkj that makes sense. Perhaps if the explosion size was indicated by a progress bar rather than numeric it would convey the running out of space aspect better. Then you'd know how close it is to you before you die. Just an idea

@madamin-z @arche-san Thanks for playing!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-16T03:24:29Z

@swini @igor-kingamer @lootgrounds thanks for playing and also the feedback!

@igor-kingamer Thanks! The delay is intentional. I planned to make an animation for the tiles switching positions but ran out of time. I agree it could be dialed down a bit though. I'll keep that in mind if I decide to flesh the game out more after the jam.

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-16T16:04:34Z

@notlivingpool Thanks glad you enjoyed! I was planning to have more interaction with the OS in between games but didn't have time.

@ceasar Much appreciated!

@stames I agree. I had planned to implement difficulty progression based on number of panes closed but I ran out of time. Currently they spawn at a random time between 10 and 20 seconds.

Thanks for playing!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-16T18:39:32Z

@enrius thanks for playing!

@gerox interesting - sorry that happened! I wonder if the timer ran out while you were making the last swap to solve the puzzle? I'll look into that.

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-16T21:22:04Z

@jeke @cresceda @rubixnoob13 @loonydrope @erikiene @dasun

I appreciate the feedback! Thanks for playing!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-16T23:01:59Z

@gerox just patched that bug you encountered :) Thanks for letting me know!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-18T05:38:23Z

@adonisdevs @maffew Thanks I appreciate that! Thanks for playing!

@johnnwfs I'll look into that thanks for letting me know! So glad you enjoyed it!

@cliffracerx Thanks for the detailed feedback! The delay I put in after the second piece is selected hasn't been received well haha duly noted for a post jam version for sure. I'm definitely considering expanding it after I wrap up my current project. I wanted to have more puzzles, scaling difficulty, an online leaderboard, and more interaction with the OS in between rounds among other things. Btw as I said on your entry, you are a madman lol I still can't believe what you made. Props!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-19T17:38:19Z

@rob-parker @cr0w Thanks for playing!

@naali that is very strange. I use Firefox and it works fine (tested on multiple PCs). Is your Firefox up to date? Are you able to play other Unity WebGL games? I provided a Windows download as well if that's your OS

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-19T18:16:12Z

@piscythe Thanks for playing! Yeah I really wish I had time to implement the difficulty scaling I planned but I ended up adding audio within the last 30 minutes of the jam :P Hoping to manage my time better next time.

@carlos-giraldo I agree - thanks for the feedback! The limited amount of puzzles in the jam version (14) and lack of difficulty scaling don't provide the most long term experience. I'll definitely address that in a post-jam version

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-20T04:10:13Z

@reax @chicomcastro Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for playing!

@jesterseraph @hollandgeng @hyprgloo Much appreciated!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-21T16:25:52Z

@paulie-b Thanks for the feedback! I definitely made a bad call with that delay lol everyone seems to dislike it. It's only one line of code to change but I'll have to wait until after the jam as per the rules.

@ctrble I'm glad you enjoyed! Thanks for playing

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-25T17:37:15Z

@ryomayonnaise Thanks I'm glad you liked it!

@sheldonzs Good call on the interchangeable pieces. I remember thinking at the time (tired of course :P) that it would be important to notice the image before it scrambles but it isn't always possible when things get hectic and it shouldn't look right if pieces are in an incorrect spot. I was putting borders around the images to help with that but I neglected to do that on some of them. Also I agree with the swap delay haha that's become the bane of my existence during this jam :P Thanks for the feedback!

@rexpeppers Thanks! I was trying to sell the virtual OS idea the best I could. Glad you liked!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-28T15:12:01Z

@rodrigo-denubila Thanks! I watched your timelapse - amazing work! Dev goals right there haha

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-28T20:29:28Z

@lu7cie A few of the puzzles have pieces that look right in a couple different spots. That was a bad choice on my part! If I develop the game further down the road I'll be sure to add a border to the outside of those puzzles so it'll be less ambiguous. Thanks for playing!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-31T03:47:14Z

@bbapps Sorry about that! I was planning to animate the play button to draw the player's attention to it but ran out of time >.< I'm glad you had fun! Thanks for playing!

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-09-04T16:03:15Z

@mrjoshuamclean Thanks for playing my man! I appreciate the stream/feedback! @hellsquirrel thanks for playing!

Lucy in the Sky by Joshuc 2018-08-16T15:41:21Z

I dig the concept here. The graphics are nice and the effect when you interact with a customer is really cool looking. The music is good but could use a bit of variation. It'd be nice if the player moved faster given the size of the level, and also if there was some kind of indicator to at least reveal the direction of the closest customer. I'd like to see cops patrolling through the inner area too to increase the challenge. I think a game like this where you deal drugs at a concert/festival while avoiding security would be awesome. That's the vibe I was getting while playing anyway. Good job all!

Shrink by loonydrope 2018-08-16T21:05:18Z

Fun game! You made good use of the theme with an interesting take on the walls closing in mechanic. I like the music as well. It would be nice if you emitted an amount of bombs proportional to how many you collected out of the total for an added challenge. Overall a simple idea that was well executed. Good job!

Clocky The Clock by Ryomayonnaise 2018-08-24T01:19:39Z

Props for going comp on your first jam! This was my second but I haven't dared to try yet because both jams I finished right at the end :P The graphics are simple but pleasant. I saw that @batmanasb recommended you scale your movement by dt and that is definitely essential. I also think you should only have 1 jump per button down so you don't accidentally jump off an edge by holding the button too long. I made it to the clock after a few unforgiving falls lol congrats on your first LD - looking forward to what you make next time!

Home Invasion by Lexxio 2018-08-16T18:34:08Z

I like the cardboard aesthetic! The controls were a bit funky with using different buttons to pick up the poop and aliens. I'm a bit confused about the win condition. If you don't do anything and let the timer run out you win. I'm guessing the mechanic is to feed the aliens to make more to sell them but risk getting overrun with aliens/poop? If the goal is to prevent an invasion then there's no reason to feed them and risk overpopulating the house. Either way, the concept is interesting and the mechanics can be tuned up to make an interesting play experience! Good job for your second game!

You Wanna Pizza Me? by Elowan 2018-08-15T20:46:28Z

This is an interesting take on the theme! It's hard (I managed to get 20 pizzas) but fun to play. The music is great, graphics are pleasant, and the game is funny. Since the point is to attack the enemies without being seen I think they should only be concerned with delivering pizzas rather than coming after the player. I also noticed the enemies seem to die when they hit the fence to the left of the blue house. I had fun playing!

The Curse by jiukka 2018-08-28T16:06:37Z

Interesting game! Nice graphics and ambient audio. Really helps to establish the mood. The character run cycle is great. I also enjoy the mechanic of having to return to the fire to ward off the curse. I thought Q was a bit of a bizarre choice for left. Also if I made the game fullscreen or clicked anywhere outside the game frame the game wouldn't reclaim keyboard focus. Good job overall!

The Curse by jiukka 2018-08-28T20:24:21Z

@lu7cie ah I was completely unfamiliar with an AZERTY keyboard. Makes more sense now!

Soggy Bunny by rexpeppers 2018-08-24T01:35:10Z

Fun game! I like the low res art style/pixel work. The concept is simple to grasp, ties in well with the theme, and steadily ramps up in difficulty. The camera was a bit far away on some levels and it would be awesome if there were more levels/music but I really enjoyed playing! Also out of curiosity - did the engine put the link to itself in the game or did you? If it was the engine that's quite obnoxious :P Nice work!

Clutter Dungeon by kodran 2018-08-28T15:30:36Z

I dig it! I like the pixel work/palette choice. I also enjoyed the concept and your use of the theme. Being able to make your own levels is nice as well. I found the game a bit easy but as others mentioned, that could be remedied by level design. Might be cool if you could also place blocks as well to create your own path in a more restricted level. Good job!

Dataphobia by Shozou 2018-08-15T20:27:03Z

I like mechanic of having to choose what abilities you can use to make it through the level. Also how it integrates with the theme. The graphics are pleasant (great UI)O and the audio is well suited. I thought I was experiencing a bug because I could only walk forward after the tutorial but I didn't realize I needed the flip ability. I think maybe if you changed the arrow under walk to only pointing one way (or explaining the flip in the tutorial) it would make more sense. I found your in game comments about running out of time hilarious haha especially when I fell down in level 2. I feel your pain with the jam crunch! Good job!

Out of Space by n00b 2018-08-18T05:51:25Z

lol funny game! I enjoyed the dialogue and the artwork made it even more humorous. As others mentioned, less linear would be a nice change but it's entertaining nonetheless!

Crowdy Planet by arche-san 2018-08-15T19:28:02Z

Wow this is a home run! Beautiful game with great atmosphere. Unique concept and stellar execution. I had a blast playing! Great job all!

AutoSpace by orestulis05 2018-08-15T20:09:12Z

I agree with @sambi. I also like the limited palette used and the simple but clean UI. Nice literal take on the theme. It's tough to finish everything you want to in such a constrained time period but it would be cool to see this expanded on after the jam. Nice submission!

Groundfall by Arcus 2018-08-23T04:25:08Z

Interesting idea! I like the look of the player. The collision is definitely off but that's something that can be fixed up after the jam. I think the movement speed should be faster and the audio turned down as well. Is there a purpose to collecting the coins? I got them all but nothing happened. Good job!

Virus: Rabbit by Rob Parker 2018-08-18T23:17:31Z

Creative take on the theme! The music is fitting and I like how your clones block your shots because it ramps up the difficulty. The game over error message is funny as well. I'd like if you could see your projectiles because it's a bit hard to tell what you're hitting besides the enemy eventually disappearing. Some retro sound effects would be nice too. Good submission!

Inventorium by Ramanujo 2018-08-20T01:06:11Z

I was pleasantly surprised by this. The premise is simple and the game is fun to play. The pairing of the retro visuals/sound effects works well and you incorporated the theme. As others have mentioned, I think shooting with the mouse would work better. Also I think it would be better if the level only shrank when you collide with an enemy. The whole punished for missing shots thing is a little sadistic :P Nice submission!

Froggily by AlbeGame 2018-08-15T18:23:04Z

Interesting idea. I like the frog sprite/animation, the bugs, and jumping from pad to pad mechanic. I would like to see some kind of mechanic/consequence regarding the frog's stomach filling up because atm it doesn't seem to have any impact on gameplay. I experienced an issue with lily pad's getting caught in a jam slightly offscreen which halted the majority of the flow of bugs. Good concept to build on!

RE:Boot by hollandgeng 2018-08-20T15:29:52Z

Funny game with an interesting concept! It looks nice and makes good use of the theme. I enjoy the music but it kind of clashes with the mood of the game. I'd like to see some kind of score mechanism (ie: a timer for how long you keep the planet's population under control) and also I think your attack should be directed at the currently selected country on the globe rather than the dropdown menu in the attack window. Good job on this!

Space Shipping by RubixNoob13 2018-08-16T20:52:13Z

I dig it! I like the mix of managing tetris-like cargo and planning what to take based on the route. The random encounters add some variability to the experience too. I know you mentioned planning to have refuel/repair stations and that would be great. Also being able to take multiple pieces of cargo from a drop would be ideal. You should definitely work on this after the jam because it has potential!

Never run out of SPACE: a ZIP folders journey by Swini 2018-08-16T04:03:02Z

First LD and you went compo? Props! I dig the dark aesthetic with glowing text/player/objects. Interesting take on the theme and the sounds were fitting. The first level was a bit punishing with the limited FOV but it makes it more like a memorization thing. As others mentioned, the boss doesn't die when it falls off. That's an easy fix though. If you jump on his head you can keep tapping forward to coax him off the edge :P Good job for your first LD!

Space Waste by BBApps 2018-08-31T03:46:10Z

Great concept! Hits too close to home haha hard not to feel like we inevitably destroy everything we come into contact with. The graphics were simple but did the trick. The music really adds to the bleak atmosphere already established by the premise. The mechanics are solid and well executed and the game tied in wonderfully with the theme. The tutorial was nice as well. Great job on this!

Castle Z by Erick Alves 2018-08-18T06:05:18Z

I dig the sprite work as well as the mechanic you demonstrated. I also enjoyed the music although it shouldn't keep starting over. I don't really see the theme utilized at all but I'd enjoy playing a more fleshed out and refined version of this game nonetheless. Nice submission!

My Little Sister by Alderis 2018-08-16T17:59:29Z

Interesting game! I like the low poly art style. The audio was good as well. The part about the developers not having time to finish the animals was funny. I'm also impressed with the amount of content you managed to fit in for the time given. I didn't really see a point in the disable command as I didn't have to re-enable anything but I got stuck at the ritual so perhaps it becomes useful later on. I also didn't see the theme used. Overall good submission!

Night Shift by lootgrounds 2018-08-15T21:43:18Z

Interesting idea! The graphics are great and the audio sets the mood well. It's definitely a good basis for a night shift simulator. Would be nice to see more events happening. I don't really see the theme incorporated at all though. I hope you expand on it after the jam it could be really cool!

Falloor by Madamin_Z 2018-08-15T17:41:32Z

Great job on this! Good use of the theme. I dig the retro aesthetic and music. The mechanics are fun and the game is challenging. I got stuck on the "It's time to think about the way back" level lol perhaps I need another coffee. Really enjoyed it!

Step into the Void (Web) by Bilzc10 2018-08-21T15:21:24Z

Nice simple concept that makes good use of the theme. I like the challenge/pace and the difficulty ramp up. The music is bumping too (a longer loop would have been great). Having the tiles vanish randomly can put you in unwinnable situations so there is definitely a bit of luck to it. It might be nice to have a title briefly flash or glow before it falls so you can strategize better. Nice submission!

Airlock Gridlock by HYPRGLOO 2018-08-20T15:48:37Z

This is excellent! Great design! The graphics are pleasing and audio is pleasant. The mechanics are well thought out and implemented and the game makes great use of the theme. I also like that you included a playable tutorial. My only gripe (a small one) is it looked really tiny on my 4K screen. Resolution scaling would be icing on the cake. This is a stand out game of the jam imo. Great job!

Eyeball Run by Andaron_Noob 2018-08-22T04:10:00Z

Nice game! I dig the title screen and the character. I really like the music as well. The abilities as 1 and 2 should definitely be changed. I found I had to play with two hands. Also the fire moving with the player makes it really easy to dodge. Great job on your first LD!

Shrinkle by Tozzo4316 2018-08-17T20:10:27Z

Nice first entry! You made good use of the theme! The second level is sadistically hard though lol I was determined to beat it but couldn't do it after MANY tries :P I saw you put out an easier version but I played the bug fix one because technically only bug fixes are allowed during the review period. Also you might want to opt out of the audio category since there is no audio. I think the game has potential. You should definitely expand on it after the jam!

Space To Breathe by kirb 2018-08-22T04:22:19Z

An ever encroaching killer fog of war - I dig it! Nice concept and use of the theme. I dig the limited palette you used and the audio creates a creepy, panicky atmosphere. I think to increase the challenge you could put some kind of limitation on the air gun. I had it held down the whole time and was in no danger of running out of air. Also maybe speed up the enemies a bit because it's easy to not engage them at all. I like how you show them through the darkness though. Great submission!

CheatDay by Stames 2018-08-15T19:49:45Z

lol this game is hilarious! Very unique concept that makes great use of the theme. The graphics/audio are great as well! The press Q UI text/button don't seem to be anchored properly as they are offscreen. Also "Avoid" is spelled incorrectly. Minor details though - this is excellent!

In regards to your question about your sprite edges, try turning off Pixel Perfect on your camera. Also, if you want your quit button to work in WebGL (and everything else) use this:

#if (UNITY_EDITOR) UnityEditor.EditorApplication.isPlaying = false; #elif (UNITY_STANDALONE) Application.Quit(); #elif (UNITY_WEBGL) Application.OpenURL("about:blank"); #endif

CheatDay by Stames 2018-08-16T03:34:34Z

@stames Glad I could help! We're all trying to get better at what we do!

[edit] Actually disregard the pixel perfect comment lol pretty sure you aren't drawing that arrow on a canvas. My submission was completely UI driven so I had canvas on the brain :P

From my understanding you're allowed to do bug fixes but not add additional content. I would consider the Q UI thing and quit functionality as fixes. The pointer growing I'm not so sure about.

Keep at it! :) [/edit]

Last Shot by jeke 2018-08-16T20:17:55Z

Fun/challenging game! Great use of the theme. I like the look of the black holes and the gameplay mechanics. I could only make it to the third planet and even that took many tries haha. Audio would seal the deal! Nice submission!

Build Out In Space by nikasxirtla 2018-08-16T05:09:06Z

Simple and well executed concept! It's fun to play and a good take on the theme. Watching all the blocks spin when you have a lot of them built is almost hypnotic haha. I think @tungunity96 's suggestions were on point. Also the music is triggered every time you go back to the menu so it will stack on top of itself over and over. The call to play the music should check if it's already playing or not. Good submission!

Memory Leak by cr0w 2018-08-18T23:43:07Z

Unique take on the theme! The graphics are nice and the character animation is superb. I dig the story aspect and the atmosphere the music created. I would like to see the losing memory mechanic have an impact on game play, maybe like disabling certain actions to make it harder. Also having that nag message pop up and halt gameplay if you don't push a number is a little frustrating. This is very impressive for the compo time frame - great job!

crushED by DaviHayato 2018-08-17T22:02:18Z

Great concept! I like the variety of running out of space mechanics. Looks nice and I dig the music as well. The tetris level is definitely the highlight. It would be great to see a variety of levels of each type but time is always short during the jam. Nice submission!

Build Build Build! by Ceasar 2018-08-16T15:59:54Z

Nice idea! Feels very prototype'esque (which is to be expected with the short amount of time we have to work) but I can see the potential in it. Definitely develop it further after the jam!

Don't mess up by LeoDESIGAUX 2018-08-28T15:46:51Z

Very well done! I love the pixel work and aesthetic you went with. The puzzles were well designed and the difficulty ramp up is nice. It also fits well with the theme of the jam. One bug I noticed is footstep sounds will trigger when you hold walk after winning a level but that's minor. Had fun playing!

Park & Match by Carlos Giraldo 2018-08-19T18:11:40Z

Fun game! The graphics are clean and I enjoy the mechanics you implemented. It gets challenging when your previous parking choices end up screwing you out of available parking spaces. The audio is great as well! I'd like to see colliders along the left/bottom edge of the environment because atm you can drive cars offscreen to prevent from losing. In-game instructions would be nice as well. Great submission!

CrumbleDungeon by Celdur 2018-08-16T17:03:33Z

Great use of the theme! Running out of space in both the level and your inventory is a cool idea. The sprite work is nice as well. I also enjoyed the feather/construction kit mechanics. I'd like to see the resolution scaled up a bit (was really tiny on my 4K monitor) and sounds would be great but time is always short and you mentioned starting late as well. Good job with this!

Space Farts by iBalls 2018-08-15T21:26:22Z

Nice job! The graphics are nice, UI looks great, and the music suits the mood of the game. Fart sound is funny too :P I think both the player and the enemies should move faster. Also some switches need a box on them to remain activated while others have a timer but both switches look the same. Maybe a different color/sprite to differentiate? Good submission!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Chains & Ore by Yvanor 2019-05-01T21:04:05Z

Very impressed with this! It kind of reminds me of Norse by Norsewest but with slaves instead of vikings :P Great concept that was well executed. Excellent take on the theme and a great amount of content for 2 days (clearly I need to up my level of productivity). I found a bug in the third level where I got stuck down an elevator shaft and couldn't exit with the main player. Attaching a screenshot. Excellent job on this! ChainsAndOre_bug.png

shoot out your life by puppetmaster 2019-05-18T23:49:01Z

I had a lot of fun playing this! Simple game with an excellent execution. I like the aesthetic and the audio was enjoyable as well. You made great use of the theme and the difficulty pacing is great. Excellent job! [edit] Side question: How do you like working with Affinity Designer? I've been eyeing it up lately. [/edit]

NECROCAT 9000 by tweedle 2019-05-03T05:00:42Z

The intro is amazing! Very psychedelic which is my jam haha. I dig the art style, the audio is great, and you utilized the theme well. I had fun playing! My only suggestions are to disable corpse/summoned minion collisions are maybe add a visual indicator for when you successfully dash over a corpse. Great game!

The DESCENDANT by Rudra Nil Basu 2019-05-03T21:03:15Z

Nice entry! I like the player sprite, the level design, and the jumping on arrow mechanic. The tie in with the theme is a bit loose but I see what you're going for with it. I found the way the camera jumps side to side when you turn a bit jarring. It looks like you're rotating or negating the scale based on a point at the center of the screen perhaps? If the goal is to maintain the camera distance from the direction you're traveling maybe lerping its location would be a better approach just to smooth things out. Either way, good job on finishing!

Meat Mountain by gamechoy 2019-05-07T05:17:11Z

Interesting idea! I didn't do the tutorial until my second play so I was lost on the parrying but after figuring it out it works fairly well. I enjoyed being able to slash from multiple directions. It would be nice to see a damage popup (perhaps certain angles of attack could work better than others for certain enemies) and slashing sound effects would be mint! The story is really weird and I dig that haha unique game for sure. Nice entry!

HAMMO by BadRAM 2019-05-15T05:09:37Z

Looks and feels very much like a prototype but it's very playable. I like the speed run mixed with rocket jumping and I like the way you tied it in with the theme. Also the tutorial was funny. The enemies are a bit too easy and there's a lot of room for polish overall but you have a good base to build on after the jam if you decide to (I think you should!). Nice submission!

Angry Hog Head by saucygames 2019-05-01T05:23:35Z

I like the aesthetic! The art is clean and stylish. The shotgun is the business haha once I tried it I didn't switch back. I think the score should reset on game over rather than every time you go up so you know how you did at the end. I had fun playing - good job!

Paper Combat by tgiant 2019-05-08T05:05:44Z

I really dig the animations! Super fluid - they look and feel great. I enjoy the art style and the game is fun to play. The AI was a bit on the easy side especially since they won't follow you up on the platforms. The game controls well but I recommend switching kick to a different key because I brought up the sticky key prompt many times by accident. Also I think the title screen music should play during the levels. Best animation of the jam imo - great job!

The Day Of The Chosen by sahoskins1 2019-05-02T19:32:42Z

I enjoyed your writing! I haven't played many text based games since back in the day so it was a refreshing experience. Some additional choices/forks and some background music would enhance the experience but I feel you all too well on the time constraints. Congrats on finishing!

The Ultimate Frontier by multiplexor 2019-05-18T23:27:38Z

I really enjoyed this! The intro was nice, I dig the pixel style and particle/trail effects, and it makes great use of the theme. The music suited the mood and the retro sound effects complimented the art style. I'd like to see other enemies and also I think the fire shouldn't have a collider on it because it gets in the way. Very impressive for compo I had fun playing!

Blood Chest by PeachTreeOath 2019-05-02T05:42:20Z

I really dig this game! The artwork is excellent (I love how the chest goes from friendly looking to vicious) and the tongue/throwing mechanic is both cool and fun. The audio is nice as well (although only playing out one speaker in WebGL - the mono sounds need to be converted to stereo). I think having a custom mouse cursor that is larger and a contrasting color would help. I lost track of the mouse position after throwing enemies sometimes. Also 9 people writing code for this is kind of wild lol. Great job to the team - this is a standout for me so far!

Experimental Treatments by Greet 2019-05-03T18:01:49Z

I really like the concept and the presentation! Easy to pick up and play and fun to boot. You made good use of the theme and the graphics are mint. Some music/sfx would really seal the deal! Side note: How did you guys opt out of the Humor category? That's something I typically do but I was unable to this time around for some reason. I think you shouldn't have because the game is funny! Good job!

Lifes to Spare by theStartlestare 2019-05-11T17:53:16Z

Nice concept! I like the sprite variety and the style is cool. The music compliments it well and creates a kind of ominous mood. Also it ties in well with the theme. I'd like if the movement speed was increased a bit because it felt a little slow and also it would be nice if you could regain health with some kind of pickup or killing enemies. Nice job!

Forfeiting Your Soul by D-Studios 2019-05-18T22:35:18Z

Nice game! I especially like the player sprite. The animations, while simple, add a nice touch. Also cool you ended it with a boss fight. During the first level I was wondering what the tie in to the theme was but that became apparent in level 2 with the upgraded attack/boost. I thought the button choice for attack was a bit strange (I think spacebar would probably work better) and I noticed the enemies getting stuck on each other and walls which is something that could be tightened up post jam. Also I didn't see any reason to actually use the boost. Nice job!

Courage, My Knight by sparewizard 2019-05-03T20:33:35Z

This game is very enjoyable! The writing is good and the life limiting what you can do in a day mechanic works well and ties in nicely with the theme. I enjoyed the pixel work as well. It has a Tandy era feel that I dig. Some music would definitely help the mood but I didn't manage to squeeze in any after 3 days let alone finish in 2 like you haha great job!

Butt Poke by Enumox 2019-05-06T18:19:08Z

Fun game! I like the pixel graphics (player animation had me laughing) and the mechanics are solid. The audio gets a bit repetitive but it matches that retro feel. It's definitely tough (I couldn't pass the second level although I got really close many times) but I don't think it's necessarily too hard. Might be cool if there were different enemy types, maybe even something simple like the same sprite a different color and moving a different speed or something along those lines. Good job I enjoyed it!

Life Merchant by Webox 2019-05-06T04:53:06Z

Great take on the theme! I found the age mechanic to be a clever twist on this puzzle game. I enjoyed the gameboy style graphics and the music was well chosen. It definitely left me wanting to play more levels. Congrats on finishing!

BodyHop by NoNiMad 2019-05-15T04:49:13Z

Great idea! It took me a few tries to get the hang of it but then I went on a spree. The machine gun is the business haha very satisfying. I enjoyed the variation in the environment and the models/animation did the trick. Also an interesting take on the theme. I found the aiming to be a bit off and sometimes it was hard to click on a body to swap. Maybe an enlarged cursor would help? Probably a reticle would make sense. Good job on this I had fun!

Elevator Pitch by Hugimugi7 2019-05-01T18:03:19Z

This game is too real haha. Great take on the theme! The graphics and audio are well done and it's fun to play. I would have liked to see more levels but considering the overall level of polish this is very impressive with the given time frame. Great job!

Lifetime by AMastryukov 2019-05-02T04:55:35Z

Nice take on the theme! It's fun and challenging. I really enjoy the audio. That pistol sound effect is super satisfying haha. I'd like to see or hear some kind of indication the player is getting hurt though. Good job!

Lifestream by Manus 2019-05-03T20:05:51Z

Excellent particle work! The visuals are simple and minimal but the gorgeous particles really make it shine. The music is great as well. The message ties into the theme well but the gameplay not so much. One suggestion I have is for the money to be only partially illuminated when it still needs more life energy. Very stylish game here - great job!

In Exchange For My life by Fahim Faysal 2019-05-02T05:13:30Z

I really like the player and enemy sprites. The player is especially smooth. You made good use of the theme and I like the wagering health mechanic you implemented. As was already mentioned, the movement is a bit slow and the melee feels a bit off. Also on the WebGL build the top of the screen is cut off so you can't see what you're wagering. I enjoyed it nonetheless - congrats on finishing!

My Little Planet by Maxime Hanot 2019-05-03T21:49:46Z

This is an impressive entry! The graphics are top notch (I recognize that shield effect haha). The music is great and really sets the mood. It controls and plays well and also incorporates the theme. A visual indicator when you get hit would be good. Also after you die you can still rack up kills before the round ends. Excellent job on this! Very polished!

Brain Jam by Empyrean 2019-05-07T04:58:47Z

Interesting concept! It's like Jamception lol playing a jam game about making a jam game. I enjoyed it but the results at the end seem a bit random (played through twice with different styles). Also choices like working all night don't seem to do anything regarding progress on the game which is a bit strange. I think with a bit of fine tuning this could be something special! Good entry!

I D E N T I F T Y by Psychedelia 2019-05-11T18:06:07Z

Interesting game! I enjoyed the writing. I don't typically play interactive narrative games so it was refreshing. I used a lot of trial and error/multiple attempts. Not sure if that's due to ambiguity or my lack of skill :P Some audio would sealed the deal on the mood. Nice one!

LastSwap by EdevJogos 2019-05-11T18:15:22Z

Nice job on this! I really enjoy the graphics. Great low poly style and the lighting is done well. The music is great (lots of mood on that defeat song) and the game is fun to play. It takes at least a play to figure out the summoning/potion mechanics but I thought they were executed well. I enjoyed the presentation overall and narrating the beginning was a nice touch. Great job!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-04-30T19:08:59Z

@snufkinshat Thanks for playing! I was planning to add many things (barrel interaction and music to name a couple) but I ran out of time.

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-04-30T19:41:51Z

@snufkinshat I look forward to playing it! I was too tired to write up descriptions for the game last night so I'm getting that out of the way then I'll take it for a spin :)

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-01T21:42:04Z

@amerigo-gazaway Glad you enjoyed it! I wish it had music as well but I finished adding sound effects with 4 minutes to go before submission :P Thanks for the offer I bookmarked your site!

@squirmonkey Yeah there's definitely guesswork involved. I figured with only having 3 levels it would be too quick of an experience if you could just breeze through it. Thanks for playing!

@unplugred Much appreciated!

@ninjacatz Thanks for playing! Glad you made it through!

@someday-not-today haha thanks!

@yvanor I'm glad you liked it! I was running way behind and made the levels on submission day :p

@gullyngames I hear you. They were definitely planned (along with a monster that would patrol the halls) but I finished right at the buzzer. Next time haha thanks for playing!

@pixscope Much love!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-02T17:29:25Z

@simonl I completely agree with the music/animation suggestions. I fell behind during the jam and they unfortunately didn't make the cut. I was extra choked about the lack of music especially because it definitely would have helped the mood.

I planned to have more levels but when it became clear I would have to settle for 3 my thinking was first introduce mechanics, second introduce hazards, third ramp up the difficulty. Thanks for playing!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-02T19:36:07Z

@sahoskins1 Thanks! I spent too much time prototyping this time around. I won't make that mistake next jam :)

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-03T05:05:41Z

@ianlux thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@ropedog much appreciated! thanks for playing!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-03T17:39:50Z

@black-flag I like that idea! I think a level redesign incorporating more gates (and wrong paths) with one time costs would probably be better than the approach I took. Definitely something to think about. Thanks for playing!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-03T18:07:46Z

Anyone happen to know how to opt out of humor? I wasn't given the option when I submitted the game and can't seem to do it now either. In my last two jams (LD41 and LD42) you could edit the game and opt out of categories. Not that it's a big deal but it wasn't designed with humor in mind :P

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-03T21:13:41Z

@datagreed I agree! I fell behind and made all the levels on the last day. When I realized I'd only have time for 3 I tried to make it so you had to learn from your mistakes and apply that to the next attempt rather than breezing right through it. Turned out a bit on the punishing side though. Thanks for playing!

@manus I definitely wish I had time to add music (among other things haha). My first jam game without it :*( Interesting about the half hearts I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the feedback!

@sparewizard That's a good idea. I did all the levels on the last day and didn't have much time to playtest them. Thanks!

@rudra-nil-basu Thanks a lot I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-06T03:50:15Z

@peachtreeoath Thanks I appreciate the detailed feedback! Respect!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-06T16:12:15Z

@topbraj Yeah that definitely would have helped. When I first read the theme I figured most people would be making something where you buy items with health so I thought having to pay a "health toll" to enter an area would be a bit different. I think a combination of both would have been ideal but I fell really behind during this jam and just finished on time after cutting a lot of content. Next time :) I don't know how you guys do compo lol I find 72 hours tough enough :P Thanks for playing!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-08T05:32:50Z

@enderswype totally planned to have music but ran out of time. I agree about the story. That's something I need to work on for my jam games for sure. I tend to just focus on mechanics. Thanks!

@tgiant Much appreciated!

@gbugge Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@webox That's a great idea! I think the camera panning over the dungeon before the lights go out would help. Thanks for playing!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-11T18:17:05Z

@thestartlestare thanks I'm glad you liked it!

@tamail Sorry that happened! That's very strange I haven't been able to replicate it. What browser are you using? Were you keeping the mouse cursor away from the player? Thanks for playing!

@edevjogos I agree I really wanted it in there but ran out of time. Glad you enjoyed!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-13T16:54:51Z

@avsc I'm glad you enjoyed the mechanics!

Good call about the player art. I originally had a pixeled player but I didn't like the look so I went vector. Definitely a clash of styles. In retrospect I probably should have kept the player center screen. I wanted to have a bit of play in movement to make it a bit less static but you're right about approaching corners. Since the camera stops and the player keeps moving you can move over the mouse which makes the position change. Actually thinking about it if I didn't have the camera stop directly at wall boundaries but instead let it overflow into the darkness it would solve that issue as well.

I made the player 720p in browser so perhaps that could be your issue but if you click the full screen button it should size properly. Thanks for the detailed feedback/playing!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-20T16:58:03Z

@jackson-makes-games Yeah there is definitely trial and error to it (similar to a real maze really). Someone else suggested panning over the dungeon before the lights go dark and I think that could help a bit. Really wish I had time to add music and animation but I fell really behind during this jam. Next time! Thanks for playing!

@jonathan-lorenz That is very strange! I built it for WebGL2.0 instead of 1.0 so I could use Linear color space. Is your chrome up to date? Did you try the Windows download build?

Kat's Flowery Fever Dream by topbraj 2019-05-06T16:07:42Z

This is great! Has a really pleasant vibe. The art and audio are well done and create a happy mood which contrasts nicely with how hectic it gets when you have a lot of offshoots and your water is running low. Excellent use of the theme! I also enjoy the mechanic of the prices fluctuating so there's a risk/reward of waiting to earn extra money. I thoroughly enjoyed this - great job!

Penny Arcane by SamStallion 2019-05-01T04:57:45Z

I can't play it for some reason. On the title screen the cursor is confined within the upper left quadrant of the game window. I can't get it to go below halfway on the y axis so I can't click any of the buttons. My cursor leaves the window and loses focus. The title screen song bangs though! Any ideas? I'd love to try it out

Penny Arcane by SamStallion 2019-05-01T17:47:52Z

@alphazeba Windows 10. I recorded a clip so you can see what's happening: [https://www.dropbox.com/s/zbo5rq06vv1w3zl/Penny%20Arcane%20Mouse%20Issue.mp4?dl=1](https://www.dropbox.com/s/zbo5rq06vv1w3zl/Penny%20Arcane%20Mouse%20Issue.mp4?dl=1)

Penny Arcane by SamStallion 2019-05-02T16:58:45Z

@cileth that did the trick! Works properly in both windowed and fullscreen.

This is a masterful jam game! Incredibly polished and fun to play. The graphics and audio are stellar, it ties in perfectly with the theme, and it's definitely the best game I've played so far this jam. Extra points for random dungeon generation as well. GREAT job!

Coin Operative by davidsheadgames 2019-05-06T04:32:25Z

Interesting idea! I can't recall playing a game like this before so that's always refreshing. I enjoyed the jumping and shooting mechanics. Jumping up over another coin and raining down on it is pretty satisfying haha. I think having the camera rotate with A and D would probably work better because I found using the mouse a bit off. Also that shoot sound effect rapidly triggering over and over was a bit grating. Good job on this I had fun!

Age of Coin - Battle Stars: ULTRA by squirmonkey 2019-05-01T18:38:06Z

Cool concept! I like the mashup between the platformer and coin battle. The graphics are pleasant and the sound suits the mood of the game. I also dig the hints aspect/having to strategize which coins to play and when. Props for the tutorial as well! I'd like if you can leave the coin fields rather than having to wait out the time because I killed an enemy and couldn't reach the last coin with a couple minutes left. Good job on this!

bETween us by Zariel 2019-05-15T04:24:14Z

You did a great job creating a very creepy environment/atmosphere! I enjoyed your use of lighting and your sound choice. I wish there was more to do besides go inside and game over and I didn't really see the theme but I think you have a solid base to expand on post-jam. Nice job!

Attack on Jerry by unplugred 2019-05-01T19:41:38Z

Fun game! Cool twist on tower defense that ties in well with the theme. Graphics and sound are on point and I had a blast playing. Great job!

Servant to the Reaper by MediocreMonty 2019-05-01T05:44:35Z

Great concept! You made good use of the theme. I like the art (cool style/nice colors) and the disguise descriptions are funny. Also the music fits well for an amped up killing spree. I had fun with this one - great job!

Noobmancer by IanLux 2019-05-03T04:45:39Z

This is an excellent game! Looks gorgeous and plays just as well. I enjoyed the level design and the clone mechanic. The audio was great too. Very polished! My only gripe, a small one, is that gates remain unlocked after you die. Makes it too easy the next time around. Great job on this!

AVE Knight by NinjaCatz 2019-05-01T20:16:12Z

This is the Dark Souls of platformers :P The controls are on point which is important in a game this punishing. I dig the pixel art and the background ambience really sets the mood. It reminds me of something I heard in a float tank before lol. Interesting take on the theme. Well done!

Super Psychic by Jackson_makes_games 2019-05-20T16:52:47Z

Interesting take on the theme! I think the art style compliments the overall desperate feel of the clients. It's a guessing game with some cold reading which pretty much mirrors the actual "profession". What does perform tricks do? It didn't seem to have any effect for me. Adding more clients would help and some audio would go a long way but jams are always tight on time. Nice submission!

MEGATOID by GullynGames 2019-05-01T21:21:17Z

I like the mechanic of spending life on upgrades! Ties in with the theme well and provides a nice risk/reward situation. I also dig the look of the bosses. I wish upgrades stacked because I felt it was a step down when I bought the homing missiles. Also some sound would be nice but I feel your pain about running out of time because the same thing happened to me and I had to cut a bunch of things I wanted. I made it to wave 25 but I died on the boss :( Had fun playing though!

Till Breath Do Us Part by DataGreed 2019-05-03T19:42:29Z

I dig the title! Nice mechanic with the oxygen (only game I've played so far this jam like that). It works well with the theme. I appreciate that the legs are animated as also - makes the graphics seem less static. I bought armor for the first round and couldn't afford anything after that. Maybe the value of the oxygen you pick up could be higher? Also I'd like it if the movement speed was faster. Good compo game!

Killing in the name of... by sver 2019-05-02T17:24:55Z

Love the RATM inspired title and music! The music is great and really establishes the mood. Good use of the theme and I enjoy the concept. The screams were funny too. I'd like if the scale was changed to make everything larger and easier to click. Also maybe if there was a visual indication of sanctuaries being attacked since the sound plays in the center channel regardless of camera position. Good job!

Menorah's Quest by enderswype 2019-05-08T04:46:19Z

Nice idea! The lighting looks great and spending your life to light up the darkness is a great mechanic that ties in well with the theme. The candle shrinking as you life lowers is a nice touch as well. I was also impressed with the amount of content you managed to fit in the time frame. Fun game - great job!

Danko by Pixel_Error 2019-05-01T19:52:01Z

Amazing artwork! I really love the graphical style. Great take on the theme and execution. I think the music sounds great but I feel it's a bit of a mismatch toward the mood of the game. Also I noticed in your WebGL build the sound effects are playing in one speaker only. That happens with mono sounds in Unity WebGL but converting them to stereo will fix it. Excellent job on this!

Sold Soul by Black Flag 2019-05-03T17:36:45Z

Nice compo submission! I like the procedural dungeon gen and the bassline of the music helps set the mood. The art is very jam like (not a bad thing) but consistent so it has a coherent feel. I also appreciate that you got all this done in 2 days because even with 3 I didn't manage to add music this time around :P I'd like if the player movement speed was increased and maybe if the enemies didn't actually collide with the player. They can press you up against a wall and you're pretty much boned. Good job!

Flip Me Off! by Bob174 2019-05-06T04:12:50Z

I really enjoyed this! The art and music are great. I dig the title and the dimension switching mechanic is well executed. I thought the level design was top notch as well. It's also very fun to play and challenging. The only thing missing is sound effects. Very solid entry!

Guttula (HTML) by SnufkinsHat 2019-05-01T04:45:16Z

I really dig the player sprite/animation! Cool concept with a great vibe. Is mana a measure of score? Congrats on finishing! Good job!

UpDrain by Artisiole 2019-05-07T04:43:06Z

I think you have a good base to build on here. The upgrades for health mechanic works well and ties in with the theme. It's challenging also (couldn't get past that full wall though). It needs graphics and sound but it's definitely a playable prototype. One suggestion I have is to apply a physics material with no friction to the player because getting stuck on an edge kind of feels like you're being robbed. Interested to see where you take it!

KYNIGI - LIFE, DEATH & ROBOTs by florG 2019-05-08T05:09:32Z

Your website doesn't seem to be working atm. I'll try again tomorrow night and leave a rating after I play

[edit] It's back up now. I really dig the models and the particles when you kill the spider like enemies. The game controls well although I'd like to be able to dial down the mouse sensitivity a bit. You made good use of the theme and I like the sound/visual effect when you take damage. I think it might work better if you didn't automatically get health from killing enemies but rather relied on picking up the hearts (although you might have to bump up the drop rate a touch). I had fun playing - good job! [/edit]

Seeds Of Life by PixScope 2019-05-01T21:33:29Z

I enjoyed this game! Simple concept that ties into the theme and was executed well. Nice colorful graphics (the player is hilarious haha looks like he's living his best life) and the sound effects were funny as well. It's definitely tough but I don't think that's a bad thing. Good job!

Delivery Vamp by AVSC 2019-05-06T05:12:09Z

Interesting use of the theme! Original idea with nice pixel work. It took me a couple plays to find all the different areas I had to go to pick up deliveries. Some road signs or indicators could help with that. Also I think the bat form should be nerfed a bit. You can switch once for a small amount of health and then stay in it all game to move way faster. Maybe if it had a timer/cooldown? Nice entry!

Lifo, The Forest Necro by kkyloves 2019-05-03T05:28:04Z

Nice twist on the endless runner! The graphics and music are pleasant which vibes with the forest feel. It also ties in well with the theme. I experienced the mouse issue others have mentioned. Shooting was inconsistent. I saw above that you put in a delay to avoid the bullets colliding with each other. I suggest moving the bullets to a separate layer and disabling that layer's collision with itself to tackle that issue. You can still have a delay to pace the shots but there's something else going on here (perhaps the way you're toggling your shoot bool?) Also it'd be nice to see a score at the end showing how many trees you saved. Good job!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Lost Temple of the Monkey God by aurel 2019-10-21T05:33:19Z

This is phenomenal! Holy hell how was this made in 3 days? Not only the most polished game I've played this LD it's the most polished game I've played ANY LD. Graphics and sound are top notch. The lighting and atmosphere is great and the game is very engaging. My only gripe is the ball puzzle because it's tough to get right. I'm speechless on this one - game of the jam without a doubt!

Alphabet by rplnt 2019-10-11T17:58:55Z

Interesting idea! Pressing the letter to shoot from the corresponding block is a cool mechanic and I enjoyed the parallax on the stars. It gets a bit easy to just button mash when you have a lot of blocks but I had fun playing. Nice one!

MeebÜ WeebÜ by saucygames 2019-10-14T05:22:04Z

Good vibes on this one! I like the flat/unlit art style. The music is relaxing and compliments the visuals nicely. Very peaceful! Great use of the theme as well. The controls left a bit to be desired and I didn't read the instruction about doing things in order so I got stuck on 5/12 having to fill a pond that was already full. Managed to catch a bunch of fish though :) Nice job all!

Fireflies Will Find My Bones by 0x01F0 2019-10-14T19:00:23Z

This is fantastic! I love the art style and the use of bloom/fog. That along with the music creates an amazing atmosphere. The player animation is very fluid and you made great use of the theme. You really created something special here. Very impressive - excellent job all!

Beet-hoven by jamioflan 2019-10-20T00:22:05Z

This is great! Very innovative use of the theme. I enjoy the low poly aesthetic, the music is relaxing, and the voiceovers are a nice touch. The note matching/pie mechanic is creative and I had a great time playing. I think it would be better to have the player face the movement direction rather than the mouse cursor. Excellent submission!

Blackout by almost 2019-10-21T04:45:15Z

I don't play many point and click/mystery games but I enjoyed this one! You made great use of the theme and I really dig the music (I still have it playing in the background right now haha). The hand drawn aesthetic is stylish and the story was engaging. I didn't pick the right killer but I'm not the best detective :P Great submission!

Survival of the Fattest by loveapplegames 2019-10-14T21:50:01Z

Had fun with this one! Cool idea to have a collection of mini-games. The graphics and sound effects are simple but suitable. I liked Sumo Diet the best. I enjoyed Balloon Burst but it seemed like the odd man out since it was the only one that didn't involve starting small and getting bigger. Also I think the down arrow would work better for throwing the ballast. Nice job!

Ghost Memories by 966623 2019-10-19T21:45:00Z

I really dig the pixel work! Nice color choice. You made good use of the theme and the game has atmosphere and mood even without audio. Some music would have definitely added to it (I didn't have time for any as well :P) and opening/navigating the menu can be a bit finicky. Had fun playing - nice job!

A Merchant's Adventure by sharbelfs 2019-10-14T20:44:41Z

Interesting take on the theme! I couldn't figure out what to do initially but the in-game help button sorted me out. Perhaps that could be displayed initially by default as a tutorial of sorts? I enjoyed your pixel work and color choice. The buying/trading mechanic is cool as well. Some balancing post jam would be great because it becomes ultra expensive to purchase and you don't make the money back in the trades. Fun game - interested to see where it goes! Nice job!

Escape from Nabazka by Tomcus 2019-10-19T21:31:18Z

Congrats on your first game jam! Impressive to go compo your first time around too (I have yet to do that lol I barely finish in 72 hours :P). I enjoyed the game. It ties in well with the theme. The graphics are simple but do the trick. It's nice that is has music as well. I'd like to see some kind of indicator showing which spell is currently selected. Also the healing spell has a bug where if your health is greater than 20 and you use it it will lower your health back to 20. Nice job!

Not My Hoarder by Tommyflower 2019-10-11T17:40:24Z

Legit made me laugh! Great job on the graphics and audio. The cinematic sequences were also done well. I thought it was a great take on the theme. My only suggestion would be the ability to drag the large items rather than just push. Great job all!

The Only Way is Down by Roka Josh 2019-10-11T20:59:07Z

Nice job on this! I dig the pixel work and the audio really sets the mood. I especially like the color choice in the subterra levels. It fits in well with the theme, is fun to play, and the cutscenes are a nice touch! I ran into that collider issue in the tutorial as well. Maybe just set it to being a trigger rather than a collider so you always penetrate it (triggering the message) and not holding the player back? Also I think in the spirit of start with nothing you should probably start with 0 dynamite as well. Great work! Lots of content for a short period!

Shi no ganbo by Simon Rahnasto 2019-10-19T23:55:11Z

I really enjoyed this! Great visual style and the music and voiceovers were superb. You made great use of the theme and the narrative was interesting. I also enjoyed the platforming and combat. I killed the second boss without jumping down to actually fight him. As soon as the health bar popped up I stayed on the ledge I was on and shot downwards until he was dead. Also going fullscreen in settings caused a full system lock that I had to do a hard reset on. Very impressive to create this in 48 hours. Excellent job!

Pizza Panic! by Studio RTV 2019-10-14T04:25:05Z

Very fun! I dig the low poly look and the amount of models you managed to squeeze in. The audio is great and I particularly like the music. The timer being a pizza is a nice touch as well. I found the speed upgrades a little OP especially when maxed out but I had a blast playing. Excellent job!

Spooky Isekai by ahistyap 2019-10-19T22:02:23Z

Really great art and animation! The lighting from the flashlight looks great in the second scene. I enjoyed the music as well. In the first scene turning side to side is very jarring. Perhaps the pivot point isn't centered? The collision was a bit sticky and I didn't see any reason to collect the fruit. I also noticed a bug where the music doesn't play after the first playthrough. I think this is a great jam entry to expand on. Nice job all!

The Island by Sanguis 2019-10-26T21:07:11Z

I had fun playing! I like the sprite/animation work. Friendly and relaxing aesthetic. I thought the mechanic of starting with nothing every time you add a new island tile was a great use of the theme. I wasn't a fan of the music but it was nice that it had music. Sound effects would have sealed the deal but time is always tight. It becomes ultra easy once you start getting money rolling in but as it's meant to be relaxing rather than challenging I don't think it's really an issue. Great submission!

BETA Feel Fighters V4 by PoundTheGroundStudios 2019-10-19T23:26:30Z

I dig the dark aesthetic mixed with bloom - looks cool! Interesting idea as well. Killing enemies is satisfying with the particle effects and the audio did the trick. It'd be nice to have some variety in waves of enemies rather than 3 coming from the left all the time. Also some kind of visual indicating your attack/range and being attacked would be nice. Good submission!

Egg Scramble! by Balance686 2019-10-11T17:42:19Z

@tommyflower I definitely planned to have audio (among many other things lol) but I came right down to the wire just to finish. Starting to think I should try a team jam some time. Thanks for playing!

Egg Scramble! by Balance686 2019-10-11T21:19:41Z

@roka-josh I agree with your suggestions! I was planning to have hawks that swoop down and a chase behavior for the foxes but I had to scale everything back to finish on time. The graphical side takes me way longer than it should :P Thanks for playing!

@ausstein Definitely! The food indicator HUD unfortunately met the chopping block as well. I need to improve my time management next time around. Thanks for playing!

Egg Scramble! by Balance686 2019-10-14T04:08:21Z

@nsadie Pesky foxes haha thanks for checking it out!

Egg Scramble! by Balance686 2019-10-14T20:49:06Z

@0x01f0 Thanks! The graphical side of things is always hardest for me so I'm glad you enjoyed!

@sillyman987 Thanks for playing!

@sharbelfs I like that idea a lot! I think a run/stamina mechanic would work well with the chasing behavior I had planned for the foxes when the player gets nearby. Thanks!

Egg Scramble! by Balance686 2019-10-19T21:16:08Z

@mrstari Thanks much appreciated!

Egg Scramble! by Balance686 2019-10-21T06:00:46Z

@ninnec Thanks for playing!

@almost The foxes have 3 waypoint behaviors (loop, ping-pong, and random) so I'm guessing you must have gotten clipped by a random. I hear you about not knowing about where the food is. I planned to have some kind of indicator but didn't have time. Thanks for playing!

@nisovin Yeah the scope got slashed pretty dramatically to finish on time. Definitely could use additional mechanics to make it more engaging. Thanks for playing!

@aurel I hear you. I planned to have additional sprites to vary the terrain and also obstacles like rocks and ponds so it wasn't such a wide open area. Also for the animation I was planning to use interpolated keyframes but had to cut it short with the simple 2 frame animations. Thanks for the feedback!

@heyycap I think they snuck in looking for food :P Thanks for playing!

Egg Scramble! by Balance686 2019-10-26T21:11:51Z

@mad-brokli For sure I definitely planned to include that. Love your company logo btw!

@jin9310 I've always been interested in having chickens one day but I'm not sure if it's in the cards haha. I wish I had sounds this time around. Ironically this was the first LD where I planned to record my own sounds (rather than using sounds and opting out of audio) but I didn't have time for either approach :P Next time!

@ahistyap I agree. Thanks!

Thanks for playing all!

ReWorld by Firesplash Entertainment 2019-10-14T21:27:18Z

Nice puzzle game! I think the card mechanic is clever. I enjoyed the artwork and the audio is nice as well. I got stuck on level 5 🙈 I think the player movement speed should be increased. Also having sound as an unlockable, while suitable for the theme, is a bit iffy imo. If you're trying to get a fast time you'll likely omit adding it and then you're missing out on the ambience the audio adds to the experience. I had a great time playing - really enjoyed this one!

Junker Derby by Wyatt 2019-10-21T05:52:58Z

I dig it! I enjoyed the graphics and the music was top notch. Kind of reminds me of the Motorcross/Monster Truck Madness era when I got my first 3DFX card. Very ambitious to offer multiplayer too although I was playing alone this time. The controls leave a bit to be desired (I experienced the same issue @projectaroid did) but I had fun playing. Nice submission!

Null Is Zero by Sunblast 2019-10-11T18:29:59Z

Love it! Great use of the theme. The game is challenging and fun to play. Very well executed! Great job on this!

Substructure by Mateusz Wojtkowski 2019-10-19T23:04:21Z

Looks stunning! I'm guessing by the graphics you at least had some solid modeling and texturing experience prior to this jam? The lighting is great and the audio compliments the visuals nicely. Lots of mood! I enjoyed the Commander 46 too lol. Would love to see (a lot) more!

Chicken Nothing by sillyman987 2019-10-14T19:17:55Z

Nice submission! I dig the player's walk animation haha it's funny but there's something satisfying about how smooth it is. It fits the theme and I think it's a great base to expand on in the future. Besides the button focus issue, I noticed a bug where if you're walking when you click a button you'll keep walking until you press that direction again. I also have a few suggestions:

- WASD to move would be very helpful since the spacebar collects eggs

- Collecting eggs should raise your money. The separate sell action seems unnecessary (I did something similar in a previous LD and received the same suggestion haha)

- A level indicator on the coop would be helpful

- a win/lose condition would add some challenge. Perhaps a mechanic to lose chickens and losing them all ends the game?

Glad I got a chance to play it. Good job!

The Adventures of Hugh Mahn Through Time by Ninnec 2019-10-21T04:25:27Z

Great take on the theme! Very unique. I thought the dialogue was funny. The performance is quite slow but jams don't give much time for optimization. As @niborious mentioned, the debug statements will definitely bog things down because they create garbage. Best to wrap them in a #if UNITY_EDITOR #endif block so they never execute in a build. I thought the caveman runs too fast and also it would be good to have colliders around the perimeter so you can't play outside the bounds. Definitely a nice base to expand on - good job!

Alchemicraft by chaosed0 2019-10-19T22:49:12Z

This is amazing! I'm a sucker for the black/white pixel art aesthetic and this game makes great use of it. You fit an amazing amount of content in. Lots to collect and craft and the island is fun to explore. The sound effects are simple but suit the art. I think the water sound should be turned down though. It would also be nice if the names of items were displayed in your inventory when they're selected. This is the best game I played so far this jam - excellent job! Also - any chance you could provide a standalone build to download?

Alchemicraft by chaosed0 2019-10-21T04:26:30Z

@chaosed0 I'm blind :P Thanks for letting me know

Stash by stamestratagem 2019-10-14T05:38:42Z

Nice take on the theme! I like the vector work and the music was good (although a little monotonous). The audio when you're seen is nerve racking haha. I think this was well executed and fun to play. Great submission!

Human by TinySalad 2019-10-11T19:32:02Z

I really dig the pixel work! Great use of color as well. The story was funny and it was an interesting take on the theme. Some music would have really sold it but time is always a limiting factor (especially for compo). One bug I noticed is that after you either talk to the cat by the house or the farmer in the house (one of those two conditions, unsure which) the tongue appears back on the ground by the barn. Nice job on this I enjoyed it!

Shoot it all by Symphonia 2019-10-11T21:44:53Z

This is a nice base to expand upon. The shooting mechanics are fun and the game is challenging. I'm impressed you managed to get it together after restarting (especially for the compo!). My high score was 7205. I found the rocket behavior a bit peculiar as they seem to launch off in random directions but maybe that's to prevent them from being too OP. Also it'd be nice if the grass tiled further because it's hard to tell you're moving when you go outside that area. I had fun playing - nice submission!

Genesis 1 (God Simulator Procedually Generated) by Ausstein 2019-10-11T21:11:47Z

What did I just play? lol definitely the most unique game I've seen so far this jam. Lots of points for humor and theme. The Will Smith heads killed me 😂 It'd be nice if you could interact with the world you create but this is definitely a creative submission. Good job!

Scrap Spaceship by Nisovin 2019-10-21T04:56:57Z

The ship building mechanic is great and incorporates the theme well. The graphics are simple but clean and the audio is nice. It's tough for sure but fun to play. I think you shouldn't be able to launch without a thruster because I did that on my first play and couldn't figure out why I was unable to move :P Great job with this it was well done!

Ghost Vacuumer by AVSC 2019-10-19T22:17:44Z

Fun game! I like the pixel work and the concept of a ghost vacuum is funny. Nice job randomly generating levels as well. I think the player and vacuum hitboxes should be smaller. Also a vacuum sprite would go a long way to sell the mechanic. It would also be great to be able to pick up health along the way. I encountered a bug on one playthrough where the scene didn't change when I walked offscreen and I was stuck until a ghost killed me. I enjoyed this one I'd love to see it expanded post jam - nice job!

In the beginning by nsadie 2019-10-11T20:12:00Z

Great job on the visuals! The lighting and particle effects add a lot of atmosphere. You made good use of the theme and the puzzle mechanic was enjoyable. I ran into the same bug of walking off the edge but I'm guessing that's what was fixed in the updated version. Sounds/music would have really sold it but I ran out of time before I could add them as well :P Nice job!

Hellion: The Legend of Jeff by Mad Brokli 2019-10-26T20:40:42Z

I really like the vector style graphics, animation, and the audio! Very polished with a great aesthetic. The controls are responsive and the building mechanic works well. You also incorporated the theme nicely. I found staying alive to be a bit too easy (mashing space seems to do the trick) and little incentive to build anything since there isn't really an overall goal besides staying alive. Also you should probably provide a link to the original submission since 1.1 contains additions beyond bugfixes. Great job - I enjoyed playing!

Nothing45 by StickyGames 2019-10-14T04:52:41Z

Nice game! I like the dark, brooding atmosphere you created and the 2.5D aesthetic works well. You made good use of the theme and the sound effects did the trick. I found F to melee pretty awkward and I didn't really have a reason to jump. Also might be nice if the player had a bit of illumination around him so you don't run head on into zombies in the darkness. I had fun playing - good job!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Sputtering around the Loop by Rialgar 2020-10-10T22:04:08Z

Simple but well executed concept. Nice use of the theme and I like how the objects bend around the corners of the track. Would love to see a leaderboard. I had a lot of fun playing this one! Great compo submission!

Looper Hell by Dubgron 2020-10-09T22:24:24Z

This is dope! Excellent use of the theme. It's very fun and challenging. The graphics are clean and the movement mechanic is awesome. I like @jdbuenol 's idea of a crazy mode with 3 loops. Great submission!

Loop Royale by rayriver 2020-10-17T21:35:38Z

Great use of the theme! The low poly aesthetic works well and the controls are responsive. It's fun to play but not overly challenging. I think it would be cool if at least one of the cylinders extending from the middle were down low so there was a reason to jump. In the current state jumping is only a risk with no reward. I enjoyed it - nice submission!

HamStuck by Tommy 2020-10-24T23:16:47Z

I dig the vector graphics and the music suits the mood. The hamster exploding is funny as well. Nice use of the theme (I actually had a hamster in a wheel idea as well haha didn't go that route though). Also enjoy the leaderboard inclusion which is great for these kind of games. I think the lose condition should be explained a bit in-game because it isn't immediately clear how the bottom bar ties into things. Nice job!

Loop Invader by Ale 2020-10-27T04:43:49Z

This is a creative take on the theme for sure! I really enjoy the mechanics, especially the use of code blocks. The music is soothing and you've created an impressive amount of levels (even more so for compo). It's fun to play, challenging, and thankfully includes an in-game tutorial. My only suggestion would be a continue/next button after you beat a level to proceed to the next rather than having to hit abort. Great job!

Bureaucrazy by Ntimi 2020-10-20T23:18:18Z

Great game! I dig the music and the graphics were nice. Good job with the characters and the storyline - definitely the funniest game I've played this jam. You also made excellent use of the theme. Awesome job!

Loopy Loops by ded 2020-10-19T00:25:17Z

lol this is a funny prototype. I like the lo-res style and I found the applause after collecting the milk to be hilarious. Not much of a game but you mentioned you were just messing around so kudos for completing something playable!

Loop Heart by NeithR 2020-10-17T20:52:36Z

I like your usage of a limited color palette. Gives the game a cool style! Graphics are clean and friendly and the level design/quantity is great. I wasn't a fan of the music but making it with PICO8 is pretty rad and does suit the aesthetics. The mouse aim works but it's a bit funky. As was already mentioned I think WASD/arrow keys would work better. Also perhaps limiting the ammo you have per level would increase the challenge. I had a fun time playing though nice job on this!

Looplex by aviv871 2020-10-13T23:32:34Z

Interesting take on the theme! I enjoyed the pixel work and the audio was nice as well. The puzzles were well thought out but I'd be lying if I said I figured out the last one my own :P My only gripe is I was unable to play fullscreen. Nice job!

Endless Assault by Mau Zer 2020-10-12T00:53:44Z

Cool to see a tower defense game! I enjoyed the pixel work and the UI lays everything out nicely. The day/night cycle looks good as well. I think it would be nice if there was additional illumination on the map, either the turrets or enemies, just so you could see what's happening a bit better. Also the money seemed a bit tight. Nice job on this I enjoyed it!

TimeSplitters 4 by BlueCalx 2020-10-11T23:36:41Z

This is awesome! Definitely the game I've spent most time playing so far this jam. Very clean presentation with pleasant audio. The loop/break mechanic is very clever and fits in excellent with the theme. It has a bit of a learning curve without an in-game tutorial, which you mentioned, but it can be easily learned with some initial trial and error. Excellent job!

On a side note, I saw you used Unity and Tiled. I'm curious as to why you went with Tiled over Unity's built-in tilemap stuff. I haven't used Tiled so if I'm missing out I'd like to know :P

Cereal Killer by Shelvid 2020-10-09T21:48:42Z

What a bizarre game - I love it! Dig the pixel graphics and the dialogue (and whole concept really) is hilarious. Great use of the theme. It's a tad unforgiving - maybe the enemy bullet speed or size could be reduced a bit, but very fun to play. Great job with this!

Leopold the Lich by Grentacular 2020-10-20T23:56:19Z

The art/animation is gorgeous! Great style - very fluid. The audio was great as well and overall created a nice atmosphere. I played both versions as the first one only used a portion of my screen in 4K and I kept losing because I couldn't see the enemies running through the cutoff portion. The windowed mode in v2 worked fine though. Kind of strange that the background moves in the opposite direction you're traveling :P Also displaying the controls in-game would really help. Overall I really enjoyed it - nice job!

Debug Or Die by Balance686 2020-10-07T04:45:35Z

@glayson @inefficientchunkofcode Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it! Was hoping to fit in a lot more but you know how it goes :P

Debug Or Die by Balance686 2020-10-09T21:37:36Z

@xiyou Thanks much appreciated!

@layne-stokes Glad you liked it! I hear you about the step back mechanic. It was a stretch goal that didn't make the cut unfortunately (among many lol).

@colejparker Definitely inspired by Baba Is You! I'm glad you dig the puzzles - respect!

Debug Or Die by Balance686 2020-10-10T21:03:21Z

@foxlit Thanks! Yeah I was really hoping to have at least 5 levels besides the tutorial with 4 and 5 involving multiplication/division blocks.

@sli Thank you!

@daspikeyboss I appreciate that! Glad you liked the comment block mechanic

Debug Or Die by Balance686 2020-10-12T00:12:41Z

@tino Thank you that's very kind!

@katherine-stark Thinking I should have called it Baba Is Loop haha :P Thanks for playing!

@zoomer Thank you!

@neithr Multiple block push is a great idea thanks for the suggestion!

@coryru Number Munchers haha damn it's been a while since that game crossed my mind. Thanks for the props - AB showing out for LD!

Debug Or Die by Balance686 2020-10-17T21:37:48Z

Does anyone happen to know you can opt out of a category post submission? I swear I remember doing that for a previous LD but I can't find that option anywhere. I didn't mean to be ranked in humor :P

Debug Or Die by Balance686 2020-10-20T23:19:02Z

@asimov Thanks! I hate when you can't skip instructions :P

Debug Or Die by Balance686 2020-10-25T21:29:11Z

@ismael-rodriguez Thanks for the detailed feedback! I couldn't agree more with the points you bring up. There is definitely a lot more I wanted to include and polish but I always find myself against the clock having to make cuts during these jams. Definitely aspiring to create submissions on par with your LD47 masterpiece. Next time ;P

Debug Or Die by Balance686 2020-10-27T04:46:05Z

@ale Thanks for the feedback! I like how we both approached the theme from a programming angle haha I enjoyed yours as well!

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-13T23:56:52Z

First off I absolutely love the voxel graphics! Gorgeous environment and when mixed with the audio you've definitely set the mood. The concept is great for the theme and the execution is on point. It's very polished, especially considering the timeframe, and I had great time playing. Excellent job!

As a side note, is there any point to that box you can push around before the third totem? I pushed it out but didn't need to use it. Also, I saw you guys used Qubicle. Have you used MagicaVoxel at all? Curious what you prefer about Qubicle as I haven't tried it.

Wizard Recurse by Ismael Rodriguez 2020-10-24T23:32:00Z

This is phenomenal! The pixel work/animation is gorgeous. The audio is great and the mechanics are perfect for this theme. The level design was well done and the tutorial at the beginning was a nice inclusion. Very fun to play! This is a stand out game of the jam imo. Excellent job!

Hoop Hopper by MayChant 2020-10-13T23:09:30Z

Had a blast playing this game! Simple concept with flawless execution. Great use of the theme. Really dig the music and the graphics are clean. The larger levels have a hypnotic vibe with the rings pulsing at different offsets. It's addicting - excellent job!

The Vendor by Shambles 2020-10-18T23:21:33Z

I really like the artwork and the audio is great! The dialogue was funny, particularly when you make the wrong selection, and your take on the theme was interesting. Scrolling the text was a bit slow and the close buttons for the items don't work. I also ran into the bug previously mentioned on the second character where the go button doesn't work (although I think that means I got it right :P). Nice submission!

Around The Jungle by Makbeard 2020-10-19T00:13:46Z

I really dig the music it compliments the visuals nicely. I also enjoyed the hook/swing mechanic. It's a bit tough to control though. I think having an indicator drawn when you click/drag the mouse showing the direction/velocity of the movement (ie: arrow with length based on the velocity) would go a long way to improve the experience. Nice job it's one of the more unique games I've played this jam!

Prison Endless by EndSSGamesStudio 2020-10-09T22:14:03Z

Couldn't play for some reason. Got this error:

One Way Ticket by Marnie 2020-10-07T05:01:44Z

I've always been a fan of Pipe Dream so this is right up my alley. The artwork is great, the audio was well chosen, and it's fun to play. Also fits in very nicely with the theme. I had fun playing - nice job!

Remember your actions by Sli 2020-10-10T20:32:33Z

This was a good use of the theme! Memory/platformer is a unique matchup that works well. The vector graphics were simple but clean and I also enjoyed the fact that the collected items actually impact the gameplay. My memory is pretty bad so I made it to 10 actions :P Nice job!

loop runner by xiyou 2020-10-09T21:07:43Z

Nice job on your first ludum dare jam! The pixel work is great and combined with the music sets a pleasant and comedic atmosphere. It controls well and fits in with the theme. I would tone down the camera shake a bit and maybe reduce the hitbox on the spikes to make it a tad more forgiving on the sides. Had fun playing!

Stuck in Room by BhavinDivecha 2020-10-10T22:51:30Z

I like the bloom effect and the gun twirling after you shoot is a nice touch. It fits in well with the theme. I think the player's acceleration/max movement speed should be dampened because it's a bit hard to accurately control. Also, the random door to progress, while good for the theme, is a bit too punishing in that it takes you to the beginning. Maybe better if it restarted the room you failed on? Nice compo submission!

Froot Loops Delivery Job by InefficientChunkOfCode 2020-10-07T04:43:18Z

Had a lot of fun playing this! Cheerful graphics and a nice spin on the theme. The first time I hit a cactus I literally lol'd at that popup. Great job!

Arthur Fisher Intelligence by Teto 2020-10-17T22:26:34Z

This game is great! Visuals are very polished including the UI. The in game tutorials are helpful and well constructed with humor tossed into the mix. Excellent level design. Besides sound, the only other thing I'd like would be for the level progress/goal to be visible on screen. Excellent submission it's very fun!

M4LL0's Journey by Plutonium Powered 2020-10-20T23:30:34Z

Excellent visuals! Has a bit of a Starfox feel. I thought the smoke particles looked particularly great. The audio was nice as well. The gameplay really boils down to guesswork with a touch of memorization and I feel like you could take what you have here and expand it into something wonderful. Nice submission!

Foolish Me by Raeya 2020-10-10T20:14:06Z

This was a fun one! Great platformer with interesting mechanics. The magnets/color changing works well but I definitely found it tough with a keyboard. Controls are responsive, but as mentioned, a controller is certainly ideal. The pixel work looks great and the parallax backgrounds are awesome. Also enjoyed the mood set by the music. Great submission!

HERO BURGER by mhm32167 2020-10-24T23:06:29Z

Love the graphics and audio. Very friendly upbeat vibe. I thought you used the theme well and the game is fun. At first I thought the sharp things did harm rather than slow you down but after that I started doing much better :P Nice submission!

CycleCycle by colejparker 2020-10-09T21:28:59Z

Nice spin on tron! I dig the vaporwave aesthetic and the music has an anxiety inducing quality to it (in a good way lol suits the experience). Also cool that you made a multiplayer game. I didn't have anyone to play with unfortunately but I did play a few rounds against myself (guess who won? :P). Nice submission and shout out to a fellow AB dev!

Loop Legacy by LuksusDyr 2020-10-12T01:24:41Z

I really like the pixel work in this game. Looks great! The concept is good and fits well with the theme. The aiming is a little tough at times. Also some kind of score or loop count would be nice. Nice job I hope you expand on this after the jam!

Stuck in a planet by Ethery 2020-10-14T00:15:29Z

I really dig the round level! Looks cool and also fits in well with the theme. The platforming mechanics were good and I liked having to pick up the ladder while being at the top of it to reuse it for the next position (I might have initially went looking for another ladder :P). I think the movement speed could be increased and while the music does match the mood it also becomes repetitive due to the loop length. Nice submission!

BL0CK by GregoryBlomquist 2020-10-09T22:04:57Z

Rad game! Definitely captured the Atari feel and the crt/scanline shader really nails it. Creepy vibes and a great use of the theme. Also pretty sure that's the first time I saw a written manual for a LD game haha very detailed as well. Great job on this and shout out from a fellow AB dev!

Orbit by DaSpikeyBoss 2020-10-10T20:55:38Z

I think you used the theme well with this arcade shooter. The shield on the back of your ship is a cool idea so there's a balance between completing your objective and switching between offense/defense with the enemies. I agree with @wendel-scardua that the camera could be back a bit further to increase the view range. Also I noticed your score increases when an enemy kills another enemy - not sure if that was intended or not. Nice job on your first LD!

The Grand Torus by Zagganoth 2020-10-10T21:50:41Z

Definitely a lot of potential here. You used the theme well and the music is great. I like variety of win conditions and the loop texture is funky. I share the concerns regarding control sensitivity and depth perception but that's something that can easily be tightened up post jam if you decide to develop this further. Nice job!

Among The Stars by Layne Stokes 2020-10-09T21:17:20Z

I had fun playing! The controls threw me off at first (being inverted by default) but once I switched them it was easier. Love the music and how you meshed an endless runner with the theme of this jam. The graphics are nice as well. I agree with what was mentioned about the depth but this is a great comp submission regardless. Congrats!

Clound loop by Glayson 2020-10-07T04:32:08Z

Challenging game! I dig the aesthetic and the default Unity skybox actually fits perfectly haha. Took me too long to get passed the first obstacle but after that things clicked into place. I think the control could be tightened up a bit (I found myself falling off walls semi often, but maybe I just suck :P).

I came across a bug where I could walk on spikes in this area. Also, for some reason I couldn't play in Firefox.

walking_on_spikes.PNG

Great job on your first jam!

LoopIn by Dani Tufeld 2020-10-17T21:57:16Z

Love the artwork! Very vibrant. The game is fun to play and I like the difficulty progression. Excellent use of the theme as well. One suggestion I have is I think collecting the pink orb should make the boundary disappear rather than let you pass through it.

I ran into a bug where once I hit the chest the player jittered back and forth and the level wouldn't end. Not sure which one it was because I couldn't back out but I'm attaching a screenshot if it helps.

stuck.png

Great submission!

Shoobeat - Control a spaceship using a programmable loop of actions by MTabasco 2020-10-18T23:46:23Z

Great use of the theme! I dig the aesthetic/color choice and the explosions look great. The sound is nice as well. It took a bit for me to beat the first level but I lucked out and nailed the second and third on the first try.

When I tried the WebGL build the action buttons were all on top of each other.

buttons.png

They were fine in the standalone but it'd be nice if you could play fullscreen because the window is really tiny in 4K.

Nice job on this I had fun playing!

[edit] I tried the WebGL build again and I found the buttons are fine if you go fullscreen while in game, but the issue above occurs when going fullscreen during the title screen before the level is loaded. [/edit]

Horizon Signal by Tiro 2020-10-17T20:33:03Z

I really enjoyed the pixel work and the audio is great! That coupled with the storytelling creates a lot of atmosphere/mood. It also works well with the theme of the jam. I liked that the boss fight added more interaction to the point/click storytelling and having the enemy speed up when its health gets lower adds a bit of challenge. Would have liked a way to speed up the dialogue, especially after you've been through it once, but overall I enjoyed the experience. Nice job!

Little Orbit by CurdleGames 2020-10-17T22:50:30Z

I'll admit I was initially skeptical about the mouse button movement controls but I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it is. Nice visuals (cannon animation is great), pleasant music, and a well executed concept. Also ties in well with the theme. I think it's a bit too easy - perhaps lowering the fire rate could make it a bit more challenging? Nice job on this it's fun!

Chrono Drift by Katherine Stark 2020-10-12T00:09:39Z

I like how you captured the feeling of floating in space! It took me numerous loops to complete but I was along for the ride. The parallax with the stars is nice and the sound effects match the aesthetic of the game. I think having space also decelerate you a bit would probably be nice but it might make it too easy (possibly combined with the loop resetting your component count?). I had fun - nice compo submission!

Sleepy Hamster by Karl Erik Saks 2020-10-10T21:24:24Z

Really dig the artwork! The music is great and works well with the rhythm based movement. Also a good use of the theme. The control can be a tad unresponsive and I'd like it if there was some gameplay benefit to being on beat but I had a great time playing. Nice submission!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Bloody Battle by dib 2018-04-27T03:49:57Z

This is a great submission! Large variety of sprites that come together and make a kind of abstract hell that's as weird as it is eerie. The music is very ominous and totally sets the mood. I like being able to tunnel through walls and I'm a big fan of procedurally generated games. Great job!

Humaning by PixelProductions 2018-04-25T21:02:07Z

lol this is amazing! Hilarious game with great graphics and sound. Surprisingly polished for such a limited time frame. I really enjoyed playing it. I found the tutorial a bit intrusive in that it obscures the whole game view but the gameplay experience is still top notch. You guys crushed it!

Rail of Rhythm by drzanuff 2018-04-26T22:42:59Z

Nice genre mashup! I like the art and sound. Enemies look great (nice animation) and the environment definitely has that wild west feel. I didn't get to see enough of it though because I couldn't reload my gun. Tried mashing buttons and clicking around everywhere but I couldn't figure it out. A bug perhaps? Cool idea!

Bath Crasher by dwemthy 2018-04-29T23:53:46Z

Nice genre mashup! I had no issues playing in Firefox. I like the various turrets and upgrades you can do. Also the palette suited the game nicely. I experienced an issue where I could no longer buy hp (after buying many times) not sure if there's an intentional limit or not. Good submission!

Funk Escape by Rolle 2018-04-28T21:20:24Z

Great graphics/audio! I dig the text on the title screen. Cool mashup of genres that makes for a very challenging game. On my first playthrough I didn't have my browser window big enough and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting the timing right (it was cut off just at the top of the bar the blocks have to be inside of). After maximizing it was easier because I could actually build up some ammo haha. I thought the ship movement was a bit too sensitive using the keyboard (takes awhile to stop after releasing the key) but I didn't have that issue using the mouse. Great concept/execution!

Moon Omens by Otso Turpeinen 2018-04-29T01:01:00Z

Nice genre combo! I like the dark aesthetic and the player looks really dope. The music is great and having an online leaderboard is a plus. Great submission!

NIGHT CLICKER by smaganik 2018-05-03T04:39:27Z

This is a fantastic submission! Excellent graphics and ambient audio that creates a genuinely creepy atmosphere. Good use of the theme. I thought the heartbeat mechanic was fresh. Very polished presentation - excellent work all! Scariest game from the jam I've played so far.

Shhhh!nacks by darthone 2018-05-03T04:24:07Z

Great use of the theme! I can't say I've played a stealth based cooking game before so I appreciate the originality. I really dig the artwork and animation! Would have been great to be able to make it to the next day but there isn't much time with a jam. Great job!

Retroviral by saiodin 2018-04-25T21:15:10Z

Lots of fun to play! The aesthetics are gorgeous and the music/sound are great! I like the variety of weapons as well. Very polished - great job guys!

Rhythm Attack by automatonvx 2018-04-25T19:44:54Z

I dig it! Great mashup of genres! The music is excellent and I'm a fan of the pixel work. A bit of head bobbing got my timing on point and I was lighting em up haha great job!

Super Balls Defense Base Craft by radmars 2018-04-25T03:51:45Z

Interesting idea! First pinball game I've played where you have to destroy the balls haha had a blast playing!

FishOut by auxC 2018-04-26T22:24:04Z

Wow great job with this! Simple mechanics in a very polished game. The artwork is amazing, the concept is original, and the audio compliments the mood nicely. Very impressive for 72 hours! I managed to beat the AI on my second try but it was a close one haha excellent submission!

Forbidden Love by abhimonk 2018-05-08T04:40:15Z

lmao this game is awesome! Great original concept and use of the theme. I dig the pixel work and the audio is excellent. The game is hilarious (that ending was killer haha) and I had a great time playing. One of my fave games of the jam! Great job!

Let's Not Make This Weird by mjomble 2018-04-27T22:10:06Z

Fun game with an interesting premise. The text based dialogue was humorous, the graphic style was simple and consistent, and the audio was dope! I agree with what @siimer said about taking a lot of side missions to get items for the main mission but there isn't much time for balancing during the jam so that's something that could be worked on if you guys pursue the game further. I enjoyed it - good job guys!

Submerge by ectucker1 2018-04-26T04:09:36Z

Lots to like about this game! The artwork is excellent and I really enjoyed the music. I like the theme and it was well executed. I got just over 32k (my memory is like that of a fish in the game :P). I found the powerups a bit too plentiful and make the player OP (I was launching an insane amount of torpedoes haha) although I tend to associate rogue-like with overly difficult. Great submission!

Armagedunk by videodog 2018-04-27T05:19:23Z

An interesting take on the stealth genre! The story/dialogue is great. I thought the ending part about traveling was hilarious. The stealth mechanic could use a bit of work (I found I was either getting spotted really quickly or able to get away with too much) but that's something that can be ironed out post jam. I wasn't sure how to finesse the ending part so after failing on my first attempt I just went for it haha good work guys!

Infinite Typer by theamazingb 2018-04-26T03:37:14Z

Great concept! I'm a big fan of the graphics. The game is hard as hell but I enjoy the challenge. Excellent submission!

Crazy Cube by YANIV 2018-04-28T21:32:54Z

Very original! I really like the mechanics you came up with. The game is challenging and fun to play. I like how you represented the health as well. Would have loved some sound! Good job!

Permadate by lectvs 2018-04-27T04:03:49Z

Good use of the theme! A roguelike dating sim haha that's a great idea. I enjoyed the art/audio and it's cool the girls are randomly generated. I dated 3/4 and then DIED ALONE :*( right in the feels lol great compo submission!

Driftout by Matsudasu 2018-04-29T23:28:04Z

The concept is interesting but the execution leaves a bit to be desired. I feel like the player accelerates too slowly and also the invisible side walls are well within the play area which makes for a confusing death. It would also be nice to be able to hit the balls after they are in motion. It's a good idea though and something you could develop into a fun game after the jam.

Ryth by Kataware 2018-04-25T16:23:09Z

Great submission! I really enjoy the music and the game is fun to play. My first 5 or 6 attempts were admittedly terrible lol but once I got into the groove I felt like I was actually banging out the melodies. Very well done!

PainBall by Erik Brunnstrom 2018-04-25T17:11:56Z

Wow this is awesome! Graphics/art style are great and the concept is original and skillfully executed! I found having one person in the crowd hilarious. Top notch submission right here!

Lost Without You by jackrugile 2018-04-25T16:33:42Z

Excellent graphics, beautiful music, and a blast to play! Very impressed with this!

Very Realistic Waiter Simulator by Nathalia Hohl 2018-04-25T19:29:26Z

Great job you 2! There's something satisfying about flinging food at people haha fun to play! The facial expressions are great and the audio suits the game. The only issue I experienced was crackling audio but I haven't seen anyone else mention it so perhaps it's an issue with my setup. I could go for one of those burgers right about now :P

Zombie Slayer by jkniest 2018-04-29T01:34:47Z

WebGL version still running out of memory for me but the download works perfectly. I like the concept and the dark environment lit up by your headlights creates a nice spooky atmosphere fitting for a zombie game. It was fun to use nitro to hit a jump and land on a crowd of zombies. Well done!

Nuclear Fission by mattpattie2 2018-04-25T19:06:21Z

lmao this is great! Love the concept!

Cornivore by nardandas 2018-04-25T20:09:44Z

Interesting idea! The controls took a little getting used to but after that it was smooth sailing. The music is very peaceful and suited to the game. I dig the worms! I'd like to see some kind of indication of when seeds are being planted (maybe a sound effect?) just to be a bit more tactile. Great title as well haha good job with this!

Seagulls by shaw 2018-04-27T04:38:53Z

This game is awesome! I've played a few times now and it's one I'll be holding onto. I love the pixel graphics, the variety in weapons/cards/enemies, and the mayhem! Good use of camera shake and the audio is great as well. I agree with what other people have said about pulling the camera back a bit but you have something solid here to build on. Great job!

Love is not bulletproof by Emery 2018-04-27T04:26:51Z

Great use of the theme on this one! First game I've played where you can persuade the bullets not to hit you haha it's a funny one. I like the music and the contrast between the action and the sappy parts made me laugh. I would like to see some kind of floor sprite just so it doesn't feel like you're floating through space but I had fun nonetheless. My highscore was 98. Good job!

FarmPunch by F14K-3R 2018-04-30T00:05:56Z

Interesting idea! I really dig the pixel work. The idea/presentation made me laugh (in a good way haha). The boxing mechanic seemed a bit too random rather than something you could strategize. Maybe if the carrot's gloves flashed right before punching or something along those lines? Compo is short though so I applaud your work. Good job on this!

Order Up! by jchaplin 2018-04-27T21:50:43Z

Nice idea! Simple premise that works well. The controls are very responsive (I like that feel of the platform mechanic) and the double jump is a nice touch. I think there should be some kind of cash penalty for leaving with a full inventory rather than just clearing the inventory so there's more pressure on the player to collect the right food items. Either that or timed orders as was mentioned above. Something to think about if you pursue the game further after the jam. I had fun playing - great submission!

Extreme Fishing: Shark Bait Edition by stephen321 2018-04-26T21:27:34Z

Fun to play! The animation is fluid and everything is responsive. Nice take on the theme. The shark mouths flapping had me cracking up haha good job all!

Stirfry's Rhythm Rave by joltjab 2018-04-27T21:01:56Z

Great use of the theme! I had fun with this one. Took me a bit to get the timing down (I find it's about a 1/16 note off) but after that it became easier. I enjoyed the pixel work and the audio suited the game nicely. I was determined to get to the top haha good submission! SRR.png

Chrono Blaster by CG_Fred 2018-04-26T03:52:03Z

You did a good job on this! In only 9 hours is very impressive as well. I haven't played Super Hot so this was new to me and I really enjoyed playing it. Dodging between bullets whizzing by and landing your own shot is very satisfying. I thought the mouse sensitivity was a bit on the high side but tossing a slider for that in a future version would be a breeze. Great submission!

Scarry by Memel06 2018-04-24T19:20:36Z

Love the concept and having to use the mic to boost. Feels satisfying to yell when you're being chased and the music is pounding. The graphics and ambient sound effects are very creepy. Great job on this!

Bloodtype Coffee - Timco - Supported by Graphickly by Timco 2018-04-26T20:34:59Z

Very cool! I dig the concept and like how you pulled it off. The graphics are great - especially the 3D portion. Nice aesthetic! Very trippy lol I think there's something in the coffee :P The music was on point as well. Great submission!

Rythem Hell by EternalXP 2018-04-26T04:46:48Z

Love the narration! "And then....you are dead" lol I laughed every time I heard that. Nice mashup of genres. Is it possible to dodge the enemy's attack when it's the 3 rows that spread out? I died every time during that. Nice submission!

The not-so Correct Platformer by notpresident35 2018-04-26T04:25:20Z

I love this! Great genre mix, clean minimalist graphics, and very fun to play! The music was enjoyable and I like the use of camera shake to provide feedback. Great job!

Bitcoin Dozer 3D by chadrbanks 2018-05-08T04:26:07Z

I haven't played a coin dozer game in years! It was fun to play one again. Interesting concept with the cryptocurrency, although as @blushine mentioned, it does feel like a themed dozer game rather than a genre mashup. That said, it plays well, it's satisfying to see those coins fly off the edge (and make it rain haha), and the borrow from grandma is funny. I think it's a good submission given the amount of time we have during the jam. I found a bug you may want to fix if you develop this further after the jam. The borrow from grandma button seems to set the value of coins to 20 rather than incrementing it by 20. I earned 40 coins and clicked it before it disappeared and it set me back down to 20. Would be interesting if the game had a hidden js mining script embedded in it, not that I'm advocating that :P

Scoop by BryceLTaylor 2018-04-26T16:24:46Z

Interesting idea! I enjoyed the sprite work and the stealth component with enemy FOV. The intro cutscene was a nice touch as well. I couldn't figure out what the freeze button on the keyboard does but I didn't need to use it to beat the level. Good submission!

Toppen Ultimate Anime Defense by DosWosh 2018-04-26T20:55:26Z

Wow this game is excellent! Great voxel graphics, awesome sound (announcer is on point!), lots of content, and very fun to play! Very polished especially considering the time frame. Great job guys! 5/5

Rockin' Horse by niterich 2018-04-29T01:17:03Z

Very impressive! I really dig that low poly look and the environment you created. The music is great and the mechanic of tapping to beat 1/3 or 2/4 is a cool idea. Great submission!

Tsun Tsun Button Mash by Team Infernus 2018-04-26T16:41:32Z

lol only NSFW game I've come across in the jam so far. Good artwork and humorous dialogue! The experience reminded me of back to when I was a kid playing those old strip poker games except now I feel like at least 2x as much of a creep lmao good job guys!

Rogue Race by Groggi 2018-04-27T21:15:01Z

Interesting concept/use of theme! I like the minimalistic graphics/color scheme. It's tough but that's what I expect in a roguelike. I got 1800 score (and lower haha) good job!

Baseball Nightmare by Amazura 2018-04-25T21:34:10Z

High score 30. Great artwork and animation! Nice mashup of genres and fun to play. Awesome job on your first LD!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-25T05:53:40Z

@jackrugile @Kataware @Joe-Zabriskie Thanks for playing! I can't believe those bugs slipped through but I was really pressed for time. They are now patched! Much love

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-25T05:58:10Z

@jackrugile Thanks for the feedback! I agree the zombies should stand out more. I'm definitely considering developing this further after I finish my current project. I wanted to add different kinds of zombies, weapons, animations, scrolling level, etc. but the time crunch was real haha thanks again!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-25T18:45:30Z

@mattpattie2 @felipe-guimaraes Thanks for playing! I built for 1080p but perhaps I should lower it. Itch.io was putting a fullscreen button over top of the Unity one which was causing problems. I just disabled it.

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-25T22:12:37Z

@drskort @amazura @theamazingb @cd-fred Thanks I appreciate you all checking it out! :) I'll play your games tonight when I get home from the gym. Much love!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-26T16:45:01Z

@yubs @bryceltaylor @team-infernus @notpresident35 thanks for playing!

@notpresident35 I went with 3D because I find it easier to work worth (I'm terrible at drawing) and I was planning to make the models more polished with animation but I ran out of time. Ammo is purchased using credits you earn from matching cards. I should have included instructions/controls in game but I was so rushed I thought about it after the fact. Definitely noted for next time!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-27T04:14:15Z

@timco @doswosh @dib @lectvs @emery @shaw @raphiell @videodog thanks for playing! I appreciate the feedback!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-27T16:00:46Z

@jamfella I'm sorry you experienced that issue! I don't use chrome but I just installed it and the game played fine for me. I'm not sure what the issue is in this case. Thanks for checking it out regardless!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-27T16:43:48Z

@jamfella Thanks for checking it out again and for the detailed feedback! There are some great ideas in your response there. I agree with a lot of your suggestions and I'll keep them in mind if/when I decide to flesh the game out more. I had more variety planned but ran out of time and had to scale back a lot. This was my first game jam so I figure next time around I'll have a better idea of what I can accomplish in the time-frame. Your game is great by the way it was one of the most original I've tried in this jam. Respect!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-27T20:17:25Z

@utho thanks for playing! You need to buy ammo with the credits you earn from matching cards. In my rush to make the deadline I forgot to include in-game instructions and I notice a lot of people aren't seeing it under the game description haha. I'd like to add it but I think that's against the rules of the jam.

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-28T20:29:42Z

@jchaplin @feel @jyrms Thanks for playing!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-29T01:03:32Z

@otso-turpeinen Thanks! Good call on the strat. I was originally planning to increase the amount of zombie cards as the waves progress but since they really bone you I left it at 2. I just finished playing your game - really enjoyed it!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-04-29T23:16:19Z

@team-yarn Thanks for playing and also for the feedback! The delay is definitely something that could be tweaked.

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-05-05T16:51:15Z

@cristiano-m-garcia @josh-lilly Thanks for playing!

Deck of the Dead by Balance686 2018-05-08T03:59:26Z

@chadrbanks Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I definitely plan to come back to this game after I wrap up my current project. Lots I want to add!

Ms Grunhilde's Sandwiches by pparadigm 2018-04-26T21:56:12Z

Simple and well executed. It definitely captures the essence of making a peanut butter sandwich, a sandwich I'm a big fan of for the record :P The music is relaxing I kind of wish it was playing throughout rather than just when you deliver the sandwich. Good job!

Devil's Playground by NullSpace 2018-04-28T21:03:26Z

Interesting concept! I dig the idea and the difficulty progression with the commands being displayed a shorter amount of time is a good idea (although when it gets fast it's a bit hard to sync up). Not sure why but for my first two plays only 2 of the 3 icons came up so I couldn't understand the inconsistency of an icon meaning a different action at different times. On the third try I got all 3 icons and a score of 92. Cool idea! Nice submission!

Learning with Mr. Bear by Nessa 2018-04-25T17:58:41Z

Very well done! Creepy atmosphere with great visuals. Audio was on point and I dig the genre mashup. Great job you 2!

Dream World by DrSkort 2018-04-25T20:40:43Z

Great concept! I dig the procedural level idea. It's a very unforgiving game which is exactly what I expect in a rogue-like. There's something satisfying about hopping off the edge and free falling back into the level. There's no escape! I came across a bug that I haven't seen anyone mention which leads me to believe it could be on my end. Every time I played, at some point the screen would randomly go black but the game would continue running (I could still hear myself jump and enemies shoot). I installed the Java runtime to play the game and didn't restart (wasn't prompted to) so not sure if that had an impact or not. I'll try it again later after I reboot to see if it has any effect.

[edit] Fired it up again today after rebooting and still came across the bug. Doesn't happen with any specific action but it goes all black every play for me before I can complete the level. Playing on a 4K monitor if that matters at all [/edit]

Fatty Boy Run by lyha 2018-04-26T21:15:23Z

Great job on this! I like the art style and the audio is great. It runs well (nice animation) and it's fun to play. I think I found a bug. On my last run (my best) I noticed the popup at the end said my best score was lower than my current score. Attaching pic. Great submission! FBR.png

Math Blast! by Joe Zabriskie 2018-04-25T17:00:36Z

The sounds made me legit lol haha they're great! The genre combination was well done. It took me back to playing Math Blaster in the 80's! My only critique was already mentioned above relating to lack of dynamic equation generation but you already mentioned variation was a priority in the next version. Great job!

The King of The Hill by Alex13 2018-04-26T21:41:01Z

Very strange and equally awesome haha I like what you did here. My first play I couldn't understand the controls at all but I got it the second time around (still wasn't easy :P). I managed to get up top and then accidentally launched myself off lol it's a funny and unique game. Great submission!

Dog Petter by Raphiell 2018-04-27T04:57:46Z

I really enjoyed it! Great use of the theme. Having to strategize which cards to play to best take care of the dog is a cool idea. I was always low on food and got stuck with a ton of bad cards at the end but managed to finish. Makes me miss my doggo! Great submission! DP.png

SCARE-CADE by lum 2018-04-26T22:13:16Z

I really enjoyed this! Great dark atmosphere and I dig the art style and the shifting of the player's face when you move/change direction. When I first fired it up it defaulted the graphic quality to very low (I didn't notice) and the movement was insane. I would tap the keyboard and the player would rocket off in a direction. When I loaded it up again and changed the quality to ultra it felt perfectly responsive. Just a note for anyone else who may have experienced that. Excellent submission! Especially for compo!

Fishing With Mr Bear by GexAlmighty 2018-04-25T17:47:01Z

Nice creepy atmosphere! Audio is funny and Mr. Bear keeps the paranoia level on crank! This could be heart attack inducing in VR lol. Cool idea

Catchinko by Team Yarn 2018-04-28T20:50:06Z

Nice colorful/friendly art style! The rainbow trail is a nice touch. I also thought the music suited the game nicely. Would have liked to try it with the rogue-like mechanic but jam timeframes are tough! One suggestion for the trail - when the cat teleports you should use .Clear() on your trail renderer so the trail doesn't draw from the old position to the new position. Nice submission!

Barry Has a Secret (horror, meal hiding simulation) by jamfella 2018-04-27T16:31:23Z

Very original concept! Even though you didn't make the graphical assets you chose them well and created a convincing scene. The music was very suitable as well and I thought you did a good job with the voice recording. I hid everything beside the toilet haha had a great time playing. I love the idea you came up with here - great submission!

Witch's Escape by cristiano.m.garcia 2018-05-03T04:13:33Z

This is an excellent submission! I love the pixel work/parallax scrolling. The music is great and the ambient audio is very suitable as well. Great use of theme and a really polished entry. Very well done all!
