A bit hard to get to play, I'm still not sure what is the number on the right. The tutorial was nice though and the true level has some design to it. Also the idea is a good fit for the theme.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD44 → HAMMO

Excellent game. Game feel is perfect, the humor on the signs in the tutorial made me laugh. I found myself replaying level 2 over and over to try and get a faster time!
The name is funny, would love to know the inspiration behind it.
Thanks! Inspiration hit me while naming the variable to store both **H**ealth and **AMMO** :P

Parece um protótipo :/
Cool idea. Didn't seem to be able to get 6 rockets back when killing something in the air, and it was hard to tell when a rocket was colliding. Fun though!
I think Enemies could be made harder and you should probably add more excitement when killing an enemy (IE. camera shake). Really cool idea and gameplay, its a shame you didn't have more time to expand on it.
28.320s :) don't think i can get any quicker.
Loved the idea of just jumping around using rockets. Would love to have mid-air controls.
@duncan-soo Thank you! you get a prize!
@hexiez123 I designed it with the goal being speed more than completion. They're meant to be easy to beat but require skill to beat fast. Also if I made longer levels like I intended to they would be necessary to farm for HAMMO in order to continue rocket jumping and save time.
Great concept! I love the enemy charging up effect and the sounds are on point. I think a speed based shooter is a really cool idea! Maybe add medals at the end or a 3 star system so that players are always striving for the next star.
7.859 on the first and a bit over 22s on the second map was my best.
I loved the idea of this. In fact, the rar file wouldn't unzip on my computer and I even did some self-administered TECH SUPPORT just to play! (Tuned out 7zip was an old version)
Thank god for the R button. It wasn't mentioned by Nikachu, I mean Pikafu, so I went a few times without it and that hurt realbad. Things got much better after I found R: I may have hit "R"it to "RELOAD" a few times out of muscle memory and wrecked a few good runs, but insta-restart on demand was a HUGE quality of life feature that I'm glad you included.
If I could add one thing to the game it would be a sound effect when I kill an enemy. I found myself often taking a quick shot and wanting to turn away and move on, but since I'm required to kill all enemies getting a confirm sound would be a help.
I'm a sucker for rocket-jumping so I enjoyed this one a lot!
I like the speedrun aspect the most. I managed to get 16.260 on the 2nd level. Rocket jump challenges are fun in Quake and TF2 so it's good here too. The fast reset really helped for the speedrun sentiment.
To improve I'd say make it more clear if you have killed all the enemies, like a sound or something. And the health-ammo connection needs to be more present with more serious enemies and such.
Nice work on the movement. Would definitely enjoy more levels in this style. The ammo was a little confusing and a couple more SFX would be nice. Tough genre for a LD, good job.
Well, you got something done that it the main thing. I feel the theme was not present in this game. Good job though.
@no-grapes-games my interpretation of the theme was that your life would act as a currency you can spend on speed. rather abstract I know, but still present.
@gentel That's on par with my own times for the level, I'd say you win.
Nice execution on the core mechanics, although I seemed to get less than 6 rockets back when I killed enemies in the air. Still solid gameplay that ties into the theme; could be cool as a larger experience. Great stuff!
This game is very raw, but I can see your idea! If you did it alone, then what you managed to do is great work. And the tutorial is very funny, I would leave it in the full game haha :)
Looks and feels very much like a prototype but it's very playable. I like the speed run mixed with rocket jumping and I like the way you tied it in with the theme. Also the tutorial was funny. The enemies are a bit too easy and there's a lot of room for polish overall but you have a good base to build on after the jam if you decide to (I think you should!). Nice submission!
@balance686 good timing, I just finished making an Itch.io page for my postcompo release! https://badram.itch.io/hammo
Good prototype of an interesting game! The ait control and control in general feels pretty great already. Very responsive and tight. The art is basic but works for now. It was hard at first to really get a feeling of how big the "rockets" were and how far the opponents were away from you. I missed a lot of shots because I thought the projectiles were a lot bigger than they really were.
The first two levels could've worked towards the third a bit better. The difficulty curve ramped up pretty hard and might turn off some players.
All in all, nice entry! Good job
