I Loved The game really! But the walking animation is poorly done... and it feels a little stuck for my taste. But the game is awesome and you should be really proud of your self! One Of the best games so far

@sdrrv thank you! One of the best? Big thanks to you. Yea i am not the king of pixle art and animation of them so the walking was horribleXD

Solid first entry! The cheapest quality of life improvements would probably be sped up text at the beginning (and pressing spacebar before the dialogue ends skips the animation), and differentiating some of the data sprites. For example, getting into level 2 took me a minute just because you were trained in the previous level *not* to touch the blocks, and now they're your platforms and some of them are bouncy. A bit confusing, but sprite creation is definitely one of the things that can take a hit in compo :)
Good job on your first game! The graphics did a good job at setting the mood. The first level is very difficult though. It would have been better if you could see more below or if there were something like coins that show you the correct way. I think your game would have benefited if you let other people test the game during the jam because then you would get a good indication of the difficuly. The text at the start was also a bit slow in my opinion but overall a nice first LD. :)

The game was really good, the first level is way too hard though :D I had no problem in the second level but I needed a few attempts for the first one. The graphics are amazing, the screen effect is really well done. It really needs some background music though ^^ Good work!

@decentsauce thank you. Yea I was working and working but i forgot to let people testXD

The game has great presentation and production values, but it's a bit tedious to play. Not only intro dialog goes on a bit too long, but the game suddenly throws you into an almost unwinnable situation at the start. It doesn't help that restarting levels takes a bit of time. Overall the game looks/sounds great but core gameplay could use some more work.
Also thanks for making game playable in browser!

@moczan thank you for your comment. Yea it was my first game and i should have spend more time on tutorial or introduction.
There was a typo in the end ("Lurum dare"), but the game was playable. The controls were a bit unresponsive and there were quite a lot of bugs, but you made it, and the I was satisfied with the content.

@stepan-shabalin thank you stephan! Oh no a typo... thank you. I was a bit under time and a bit confused durong the jamXD

Your game builds up a good mood and its impressing, that you did 3 different mechanics, but there are two points of criticism I want to tell you: 1. I think the field of view is too small. Level 1 and 2 often feels unfair, because I see an obstacle way to late. 2. The red bomb in Level 3 shouldn't collide with the player, because this makes jumping feel buggy.
swini
2018-08-13 00:04
@oadt thank you for your comment! Yea i thought this could be a problemXD Should the player get pushed away when the bomb expledes? But i am proud of one thingXD Every player reached the goalXD

Thank you @brallex :)
For your first game, this is great. Graphically this is beautiful, and I like what you have done with the theme. However, I did not enjoy the game. This is mainly due to difficulty issues. I only managed to get to the third level before the frustration got to me. Every level requires death to progress, death usually invoked due to a lack of knowledge of the level, as opposed to the lack of ability. Level 1: the movement speed was a bit too low, resulting in being unable to dodge the blocks. Level 2: You can't see the platforms you're trying to jump to in multiple instances. Level 3: the boss moves too fast to constantly avoid, and a lack of feedback as to if the bombs are hitting leads to uncertainty and frustration. I want to enjoy this game, but the little things like these just make it too frustrating to play.
My opinions go withh Omniorcus !
Great color nevertheless i loved it !
Great game. It was quite challenging, but very fun. One question; I found that I could jump off the sides of platforms. Was this intentional?

Wow, this game is excellent, really creative with beautiful graphics, the first level reminds me of dark souls and it's pretty hard overall and a lovely zip folder legs animation is very funny. The only thing; the input is a bit buggy, noted it specially in the boss fight (space sometimes doesn't work) also I've beaten the it ^^, a very well done game.

I like the story setup. Builds much expectation on what funny things are to come. A virus chasing a file. Nice... Lots of potential: Maybe the file has to find bits of itself in each level to unlock the next. The characterization of the virus could be great storytelling...
Nice game! Very good use of the theme in this game, I liked the story and I was actually thinking about a similar idea in the beginning but I didn't know how to execute it, but this is just perfect. Well done!
Nice game, enjoyed it very much. Keep it up!

Nice one. I liked the slow pace of the zip file, like it's in space already. But sometimes it's hard, the collisions are too strict and the obstacles big, and you can't do anything about it if you don't know the level.
But overall, great little game. Nice job :)

Cool intro, but your character moves very slowly and the mechanics are a bit inconsistent and it confused me. but it's a cool game !!!

It's a fun game and the programmer/binary/matrix ambientation it's so cool. The only thing that I could change is to skip the intro text of each level at the 2nd, 3rd, and succesive attempts. Good luck if you keep working on this game!

Really fun little game! The overall ambiance was really cool, especially with the green scrolling binary in the background. The controls felt a bit unresponsive at times but that was the only real problem I had. Overall it was short and sweet, good job!
Nice game. I really like the graphic style you used and the bits of floating data are really cool.
Something wrong with html5 version. It shows Unity logo and progress then black screen only.

I really like the intro section, you set up the story really well! I found it a bit difficult to react to some of the later data obstacles, there's not enough space to move as you see them so I had to restart a bunch just to get by one obstacle. It does fit in very well with the theme so it's certainly a job well done! Congrats on your first Ludum Dare, good job!
Excellent presentation, i enjoyed this title a lot. thank you for creating this!

html5 worked fine for me.
Great job, i loved the introduction a lot also !
I couldn't get past the first level where you drop through data. That level required me to memorise the pattern of the data all the way down. Should I fail, back to the start I go. I didn't enjoy that at all so I dropped it completely fairly quickly.
The art style and the narrative seemed compelling.
I like the look of this game and it's a very good first entry, but the real sticking point for me is the change from level 1 to 2. We go from avoiding blocks of data at risk of restarting the level to jumping on them to get to the end? And on top of that there's no way to differentiate the blocks that will bounce you from those that won't because all the blocks up until that point have been different colours but served the same purpose. That transition is very confusing at first and though I jumped on the block right away to see if anything had changed it really just left a bad taste in my mouth.
The story is a nice addition and it makes for a coherent experience though there are a few spelling errors. I think with a few more sprites or even more meaningful colours you could eliminate that confusion and it make it even better.

Very cool intro. I also like how the leg animation while the zip file is flying down. Is the virus suicidal? He always jumped after me after he kicked me down from the plattform? :D
Awesome style!

Like this graphic very much. However gameplay is a little hard. Obstacles are seen too late, I don't know if colour of data mean something (suddenly data is making me jump higher) and first you giving me message that I should avoid data in a first place. But - as I already know how much work is worth to make whole game in 48h I like this game.
Hey, just letting you know, it's probably just Safari being Safari, but the web version just goes to a black screen for me.

Good avoid platformer type of game ! The text at the beginning is too long, you should put something to skip it. Nice entry !
I enjoyed playing this game, even if the text was too long (maybe there should have a way to skip it, or it could appear only the first time you enter a level) and didn't really see the link with the theme

@swordfish thank you swordfish. Yes i know a lot of peaple said that the confusion between level 1 and 2 was big. I understand it. First avoid then touch is quite confusing. A simple sentence at the beginning of each level could save it.

It was very tough and I couldn't get pass level 1 because I needed to memorize the layout and the game gives me no time for reaction at all. However I did like the graphics a lot and the way the intro was done.
Good job on your first entry!

This looked really good, but the controls were so slow to respond. I didn't feel like I had much control over the character at all. Also, at the end, I caused the virus to jump off but then the game didn't advance at all so I had to restart the level.
First LD and you went compo? Props! I dig the dark aesthetic with glowing text/player/objects. Interesting take on the theme and the sounds were fitting. The first level was a bit punishing with the limited FOV but it makes it more like a memorization thing. As others mentioned, the boss doesn't die when it falls off. That's an easy fix though. If you jump on his head you can keep tapping forward to coax him off the edge :P Good job for your first LD!

Fun game, I liked the Glowing Text.
A very interesting and fun little game! I always love a fast-paced platformer. However, there are some things that can be improved upon. The cutscenes were unskippable, so when I reset the website I had to go through the intro all over again. The momentum was slippery, so it made precise platforming pretty difficult. The boss could be driven like a car, and there was a glitch with the cutscene where half the times you would sink into the floor during the introduction and die. Also, the view wasn't very big, forcing you to make some leaps of faith, which combined with the slippery momentum caused for some pretty frustrating moments. I do still appreciate the graphics, the variety in each level, and the fact that the theme was incorporated into the story itself. Everything worked well together despite these hiccups, making for a creative and fun experience. It's really impressive for a first time, well done! But this is a compo game, so where is the source code? isn't it a requirement?

@purrfexionator Thank you for your answer. I am happy that you played it. I know there is a lot of space in character controll and Ai but I am a better designer then programmer(I hope it will change soon). You can find the code and the other assets like pictures in the asset folder.(Windows link) Thank you for your great feedback. It helps so much!! This competiton is the best place to learn and improve cause of honest people!
@swini Yeah, I totally agree. Can't wait to see what you do in the future!
great graphics, first level is too hard though! also wish there was some music. Also really enjoyed the overall text/style
Really good graphics and idea. Love it! Nice job!

Game is good and full of nice ideas, but level 1 is just way too hard (you need to remember every single obstacle's position in order to finish, that's not considered fun since the 80's). I think level 1 and 2 should have been swappped.
I like the concept of the game and I think the style is great. I think maybe making the character/file tuck its legs in while it falls down in the first level would have been a good thing to do, as the most annoying failures in that level were when I just caught my legs on the corner of a piece of data.
I'm not much a fan of using the up arrow to jump rather than space, but I got used to it — it did, however, not always worked when I thought it would during the boss fight on level three. I couldn't jump when I was on top of its head, so I couldn't get clear in time to avoid being kicked across the screen. I also wasn't entirely sure if the things I dropped on it did any damage.
I thought the introduction was pretty good, though (a few typos, but nothing unintelligible)!
Wow this was really challenging at first. I just kept dying and dying. The game art is really good and so is the gameplay. Well done
Do check out our game as well maybe you'll like it.

I like how you introduce different mechanics per level. It mixes up the gameplay and introduces a new challenge everytime. The game controlled realy well and it was enjoyable.
Here are a few suggestions for future updates:
-- Make a skip-text key.
-- Make the diffrent platforms have a unique feature. I mention this because, they were some bouncy platforms of different colors and it was a bit incoherent. Perhaps, make the bouncy platforms all one color for consistency.
-- zoom the camera out. This way I can see more of the level and can plan ahead. I say this because some platforms were offscreen on level 2. For that particular level, because it was easy, it was fine. But generally speaking, for traditional platformers, the player would not appreciate platforms hidden offscreen.
-- The boss level was at level 3 was hard. I think its because of the narrow platform.
Hello, I like the mood of your game and the graphics + narration! But I found it really hard, I was stuck at level 1 because I saw data to late and the moving speed was low so I didn't have the time to avoid them :/
From what I saw, it seems to be a good game!
Good job for finishing this ;)
