I'm bad at these sorts of games, but I enjoyed it! Nice visuals and sound.

tweedle 2018-08-16 02:50

great controls, rocks the theme and the music fits perfectly! 👏👏👏

tiberiusuciu 2018-08-17 02:37

I have played a few games like this one before, I'm glad this genre came up in this LD, good job!

babyking 2018-08-17 02:41

In my short play through I imagine that using the rotate controls are key. Good job! Especially as a team of 1 in compo! I imagine coffee had a large part to play.

Nice job getting such an addictive game done in so little time !

Pros : - Beautiful graphics - Crystal clear objective and rules - The music builds the mood very well

Cons : - Controls (especially rotations) are a bit wonky - The first person view makes it difficult to anticipate ifyou are going to skim the obstacle or just lose the game.

Sweet entry! Makes me feel like I'm flying a spaceship to escape whatever massive base/planet/space station is exploding behind me. This entry fits in well with the theme, and the aesthetics make everything gel nicely. Once I got the hang of the rotate controls (and the brake... definitely needed the brake), I was able to successfully escape the tunnel.

lintfordpickle 2018-08-21 08:02

really enjoyed playing that. Also, I would recommend hiding the mouse pointer in full screen mode.

james-shipp 2018-08-21 15:01

Enjoyed this a lot, nice tunes!

balance686 2018-08-21 15:34

Fun game! I enjoy the graphics and the frantic audio is anxiety inducing lol great for the mood of the game. You utilized the theme well. I made it to the end on my fourth try. Control wise I would ditch the mouse look altogether and maybe even the brake/thrust (I didn't use them). Great compo submission!

furiouswitch 2018-08-21 21:16

Nice game! Nice gameplay and music. I don't usually play this kind of games so maybe my feedback is not very helpful but I felt that braking was not very responsive and the pace was too fast for me to go very far but as I said maybe that is just me :) Regardless, good work :)

ctrble 2018-08-22 00:28

@jlv Thanks for the feedback! And yeah, the controls were pretty tricky, I've found that most players prefer to use a subset of the controls rather than all of them, but everyone seems to have a different preference. I also agree with your point about the hitbox, it's set to 1 unit, but I could probably do a little bit smaller. Originally I was going to have a third person view and a ship you could fly, but I ran out of time.

ctrble 2018-08-22 00:29

@lintfordpickle Agreed! That's on my list of finishing touches to do soon, and I think it'll help with the feel of the mouse look stuff. Thanks for playing!

ctrble 2018-08-22 00:31

@balance686 The controls definitely need a bit more tweaking, it's tough to figure out what's right though cause everyone seems to like and dislike different parts of them. I'll just have to keep working on it and testing it out.

ctrble 2018-08-22 00:35

@furiouswitch Yeah, you're right that the brakes aren't terribly effective. I wanted to make sure the player was always being pulled towards the end of the tunnel, but there's still loads of room to find the right balance for that and the rest of the controls.

ctrble 2018-08-22 00:37

Thanks @elodeon @tweedle @tiberiusuciu @babyking @ropedog! Thanks so much for playing and I'm glad you all enjoyed the game!

doctormozart 2018-08-22 00:49

Perfect idea for this theme! Had a fun time playing it. Oddly the first time I played it I somehow was clipped outside of the level? Refreshed the page however, and it was all corrected. Control wise, I might not include the option boost or brake at all, unless you added a timed component. I found myself just holding brake the entire time as it was easier that way. ;) Overall though, great work!

ctrble 2018-08-22 00:59

@doctormozart Thanks for playing! And I think you maybe found the one buggy thing (at least that I'm aware of), where if you're moving the mouse right when you start the game it gets a little wonky. That's definitely on the top of my hit list for the first update, fingers crossed I can get a good solution for that soon!

carlos-giraldo 2018-08-22 03:12

Good job with this one! The art is done well for the concept. The difficulty spikes nicely. Downsides are the controls maybe too sluggish, though being too responsive would make it too easy. So I would try maybe pushing it a little bit.

ctrble 2018-08-22 03:31

@carlos-giraldo Thanks! And yeah, I've been playing with the controls trying to get the responsiveness right. I actually just uploaded a new version that adjusts the player's speed, if you play again I'd be curious to hear what you think :)

lexyvil 2018-08-22 05:38

Fun game! I just wish it was longer and the speed incremented slower. It really reminded me of the old times I played Star Fox and I had to avoid metal obstacles.

bobo-oh 2018-08-22 10:06

nice and fun game !!

king-kujito 2018-08-22 16:24

I like games like this so I'm sold. Only problem is how the walls sometimes bounce the player around.

novodantis 2018-08-23 00:09

Simple, but very nicely done and an excellent take on the theme. Controls did seem a little rough at the edges, but then they are absolutely core to the gameplay so getting them perfect just isn't doable in a Jam timeframe I think. It was certainly highly playable and nicely complete, but there's plenty of room for expansion on the idea; like recording Best Times and moving beams.

roidz 2018-08-23 00:36

sometimes its kinda hard to control with the mouse but i really enjoyed this. I liked the art also, who doesnt like glowy stuff ! good game !

local-minimum 2018-08-25 10:01

nice game. I didn't survive for very long. perhaps it would have made it easier if I didn't touch the mouse... but the controls were a bit hard to get a hang of, as well as the size of the ship/collision sphere around me. I think I would have liked that one smaller, or actually seeing the ship a bit from the behind.
