What a fun game! The atmosphere is great, love your art style! I wish there was more variety between the levels though. And controls felt a bit unresponsive at times, maybe snapping left/right movement to only 3 lanes would make it feel better.

ommadawn 2020-10-05 15:01

Nice art :) Maybe you should precise to hold the keys to actually move, because it was hard at first to understand how to move the hamster. Nice loopy game overall !

mykola 2020-10-05 22:44

@lamossus, @ommadawn thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback! We carefully considered it and managed to do some improvements before the final deadline. You are more than welcome to give it another try! =)

ommadawn 2020-10-06 06:53

@mykola yes much better !

yellowmoleproductions 2020-10-06 17:56

Overall great game, very enjoyable. Maybe it wasn't rammed home enough that I have to avoid anything but the stars, and maybe I'm just sleepy.

walkingtall85 2020-10-06 17:57

Nice game, my sense of rhythm is awful, but I think some collision could be less punishing. Aside from that great work guys!

giordas 2020-10-06 18:01

Daaaamn I really liked this game. It really made me fell so good and relaxed. Also easy to get and actually fits the theme very well. Nice little jam

ancient-pixel 2020-10-06 18:06

Nice atmosphere and the artstyle added to the dreamy feeling!

dani-el-urban 2020-10-06 18:12

The first round i didn't get that you had to move with the beat to get points, but that was fun. I think there should only be 3 lanes though, the outer ones don't feel very useful. A nice game overall, with a quirky atmosphere and some cool artwork.

firetwoonenine 2020-10-06 18:25

Took a bit to figure out the controls, but after that it was pretty fun! Getting the timing right on those spikes is pretty difficult.

Fun idea, cute graphics, nice music.

galse87 2020-10-06 18:46

The music is really cool and having a "Beats Nailed" feature is dope. Also, you should consider saying here ( LD Website ) that you have a Web GL build, because you do, and more people might want to play your game if it is Web GL.

mikesalyh 2020-10-06 18:50

Nice music and art style. I got to level 2! My only gripe was that the movement of the hamster felt sluggish sometimes. Since the hamster can only move on the beat, I wish he was faster to get to his new destination. Overall, very nice game!

jafcraze 2020-10-07 15:40

The art and music were very good! Really sets the atmosphere. I agree that there should be fewer lanes and that they should be more clearly defined. Also, some stars were not possible to collect e.g. a star on a black bag. Oh, and thanks for adding volume levels (definitely appreciated)

Very unique entry :) first of all, I loved the art work. Very talented illustrator you got there. The game play itself was not so self explanatory and I was a bit lost at the beginning, even though the music was awesome and pumping. Loved the beat. After scanning the UI I found out that it's a rhythm based game and the second run was more effective. Generally, it worked great, but could use some more audio visual feedback when collecting or hitting stuff.

Here's some constructive feedback you might to work on, if you come around to it: - The controls didn't work all the time. I had issues with movement inputs being ignored sometimes, wich gets really frustrating in a context like this. - It wasn't always clear if you would hit an item when changing lanes. The game could use some more visual aids to help the player make informed decisions if a jump in a specific direction would be a good idea. for me, it came down to intuition which didn't always work out. Maybe a slight grid or something could help.

Other than that, a really solid entry. Loved the music and art! :)

[Edit] Oh hey, it's one of your entries @mykola :) Dunno I you remember, but I played your fire game in the spring. Loved the music there as well!

mykola 2020-10-08 17:28

@duke thanks a lot for the constructive feedback, I agree with every word. Unfortunately, time constraints didm't let us polish the game as much as we wanted.

I do remember that you left very useful feedback for my previous game, still very much appreciate it! This time however, the music is by @karl-erik-saks and I focused mainly on the coding part. And you and your team keep surprising and inspiring by doing beautiful games of enormous scale! =D

etrealjunior 2020-10-08 18:50

Hi all right, I played your game and downloaded it I don't know if this was an idea, but it keeps crashing, the idea is good, and the art is very well done, it would be a great differentiator in this project if they were animated, maybe a stopmotion style would match well, I felt that it could improve more, the team is to be congratulated for the project, a big hug for everyone.

mykola 2020-10-08 19:20

@etrealjunior, thank you for trying it out. No, it shouldn't crash. Which platform are you using? You can also try the web version, it should be stable.

nickzouk 2020-10-08 23:18

Nice concept! A bit slow but liked the mood and the music! Good job

carson-bentley 2020-10-09 00:22

I gotta say, those were some nice looking trash bags.

gabriel-pittol 2020-10-09 00:46

Good music and interesting game, good job.

karoukodil 2020-10-09 13:03

The art style and the music are the best thing is the game and the gameplay could be very fun but the controls are not very good and it kinda ruins some of the game, they felt a bit inconsistent sometimes it felt like a grid and in other times it felt like a platformer movement. Locking the movement down to 3 lanes would help a lot.

smiley405 2020-10-09 20:33

loved the graphics and sound

leekanarchism 2020-10-09 20:42

Awesome! I really enjoyed this, and kept coming back for more. The art style is very unique and the music (and its integration with the game) was very cool, and I love the unique premise!

I found the first level to kind of be the hardest, because it was so slow! The latter levels kept my interest a bit more, but it was a bit punishing to have to do the first level again every time I died.

It would probably be helpful to have a little more feedback if you try to move on / off the beat, although I figured it out quite quickly.

I think there's a bug with pausing it -- when I paused it for a minute and came back, the items were no longer moving.

Overall a really well-executed game, nice work! :)

peachtreeoath 2020-10-10 08:14

This poor hamster and his nightmares of spikes and.....stack of paperwork?!

I really liked the camera angle of the game. It's not an often used angle so it makes it stand out a bit on that alone. It reminds me a bit of Booster Hill https://youtu.be/SANO28TAiA4?t=94

Like others, I actually didn't realize it was a rhythm-esque game until a few levels and deaths into it. I'm glad the rhythm aspect is optional, the last stage is a little daunting. Though I'd probably be able to handle it, I did play it safe and stop the rhythm movement just to avoid the devastating death.

I personally thought there may be a lot of hamster wheel games this jam but surprisingly this is the first one I played! I liked the game overall, very bold vision with the art and presentation :)

jofish 2020-10-10 21:13

I love the art style and the theming here. I found the controls felt a little unresponsive, and the angle of the play area made it unintuitive to control and very hard to line yourself up and avoid hitting things. It's really polished for such a short time though, well done!

elemel 2020-10-10 21:20

First other hamster game I've found! The art looks great, and helped set the tone of the game. As others have pointed out, the gameplay suffered due to loose or unpredictable controls. Spikes were difficult to dodge for me. Snappier movement in some kind of grid would have helped. And giving some penalty or damage for missing instead of game over.

balance686 2020-10-10 21:24

Really dig the artwork! The music is great and works well with the rhythm based movement. Also a good use of the theme. The control can be a tad unresponsive and I'd like it if there was some gameplay benefit to being on beat but I had a great time playing. Nice submission!

100th-coin 2020-10-15 16:03

I love the artwork! I didn't quite earn bragging rights, but I can super close! Level 3 sure is a doozy. In any case, the music was a bop, and the game was a lot of fun! Great job all around!

redhermit 2020-10-16 01:44

Great work! I too went the hamster in a wheel route, I like your take on it- incorporating the rhythm control aspect, and that the wheel is the track. Art and music were fantastic, and only constructive feedback I have mirrors some of the others above already, primarily the controls feeling a bit sluggish or unresponsive. Overall though, great job!

gamescodedogs 2020-10-19 10:24

Great concept, and very polished for a jam! Loading time between sessions could be shorter though, right now it kinda breaks the flow

jezzamon 2020-10-24 00:57

Nice game!

I think I agree with what elemel said, having a grid for the player movement would've made the game a lot easier to play. As it is, it was kind of hard to judge where the collisions would start and stop.
