LD38 — A Small World

Uncharted Dreams - Fate of the Miniatures by Franklins Ghost 2017-05-03T17:39:00Z

Wow. You should absolutely make something more out of this. I looks really cool and I think you could tell a great story with the aid of these visuals.

As it is right now the game isn't really a game. The controls feel clunky and the player is guided a bit to much, leaving to room to explore. But there is absolutely potential!

Miniscule Frenzy by Mieeh 2017-05-02T19:30:42Z

Not bad! Not bad at all!

First of all the art style is unique and looks really cool. The controls feel good and the movement i fluid. But I don't think the game really fits in to the theme that well and the level design/gameplay is not very unique. The game feels like a complete package, but aside for the graphics it's a bit too similar to other games. But hey, it was made in 72 hrs so it's still really impressive.

Hop Up by PietPtr 2017-05-03T14:56:28Z

Score: 65.769

Wow! you weren't kidding with that warning:). The game was quite boring to a beginning but when the flashing and camera rotation start it really becomes a whole other game. I like the graphics, simple and effective, but the lack of sound hurt the game a lot. It could had been a lot more stressfull and hectic with some basic sound effects. It's not the most innovative game ever but the execution is great if you factor out the lack of audio. Good job man!

Encircle by Certainly Canyon 2017-05-04T14:25:24Z

Very interesting game! The first part of the game is really enjoyable. The movement controls are a bit weird but it makes the game more stressful and more fun. The enemies are a bit basic and especially the boss. The boss is really quite boring compared to the rest of the game. It is to predictable and to similar to the other enemies. I think having some parts of the boss's behavior random would fit in well with the rest of the game. I really think you should make something more out of this game!

Echoes by ghostbomb 2017-05-04T14:09:50Z

Lovely game! It looks great, the puzzles are interesting and I especially like the design of the lizards and how they react to your echolocation. This has been said by someone else but a really think there should be a reason to not spam X, a cool down or something. The controls also felt a bit to floaty at times for precision maneuvering and I never understood how to get around the lazers but that be just be me being stupid ;).

My Small World by kefir 2017-05-08T11:53:22Z

Very interesting take on the theme. The game looks great, the music is very suitable to the overall tone of the game and the game play is basic but interesting. But I felt like game lacked a goal as there isn't a reason to work outside of earning money to buy food.

Nice work

Small battles by indieDevPT 2017-05-03T13:40:38Z

It's an intressent idea but most of the UI is missing. The buttons on the screenshots are missing form the build you published making the game unplayable.

Honey Home by dvdfu 2017-05-03T18:24:24Z

Beautiful game!

Stunning visuals, relaxing music, interesting and challenging gameplay, this game has it all! This almost felt like a finished game. The movement feel natural an the bee animation is simple but incredibly cute. New mechanics are introduced at a good pace, making a tutorial meaningless without making the game too slow. The frogs are a bit to easy to avoid but apart from that truly a great game! 10/10 ign

Flat Earths! by ponywolf 2017-05-02T18:30:17Z

Great game! 10/10

I love the graphics/style, it's really unique and looks great. The gameplay is very satisfying when you get hang of the controls. It's not the most innovative game from a gameplay standpoint as there are a quite a few similar games on the market already, but the gravity switching does put a twist on it. The audio on the other hand was a bit lacking. The sound effects were a bit repetitive and music would have been nice. Including cpu controlled enemies was a great addition as it's hard to review a game that requires local multiplayer.

I'm really impressed. This is probably the best game i've played so far!

Jig Jog by niksg 2017-05-04T13:43:01Z

This game was a lot more fun than a expected it to be! The gameplay is unique and works well. The graphics are a bit crap but that adds to the charm of the game. I think I would be fun if the were people running around on the ground or something. Squishing something as a giant is always fun. Nice work man!

Godly Corp. by Zeriver 2017-05-03T15:19:15Z

I must say, this game is quite similar to my game in some ways! [Set Sails](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/set-sails) (shameless plug :-) )

The controls where a bit of a struggle. During my first run the globe was spinning wildly out of control as I desperately tried to wrestle it. After a few round I learned to control the beast but it was sill a bit to hard to control. The game is very unique and charming in an odd way and the audio is a good math to the rest of the game. If you want to develop the game further I fear if will be hard to make the game enjoyable for more than a few minutes but if you continue to add more weird shit it might become a interesting product.

GG guys!

Tau Zero by sharpcoder 2017-05-08T12:06:37Z

The concept is probably nice but the game is a bit hard to understand. The game is also quite buggy and I kept getting stuck in "mid-space". It's also incredibly hard to judge how much to charge as you don't know how far the planets are.

Little Lost Planet by LDP 2017-05-02T15:33:26Z

Overall a great little game!

Graphics: The art style is really nice but some assets like the health icon is a bit low res. Audio: Nice and relaxing. Fits really well with the look and feel. Fun: The game is quite hard but not necessarily in a bad way. It feels like a rope swinging game but the ropes are invisible. When you get it right it feels great!

*Technical tips: I noticed the camera dosen't follow the planet smoothly and I have had the same problem many times in Unity. If the planet has a ridigbody, try setting it to interpolate. You can also try to move the code for the camera movement to LateUpdate *

A Small Mystery by Shinmera 2017-05-02T18:40:41Z

Crash on start-up :( win 10 64bit

Don't go off the edge of the screen by Minerscale 2017-05-03T14:08:13Z

Interesting game however I fell like the outcome of the game is determined more by the randomness of the objects you're trying to avoid than the skill of the player. The moment felt good and getting hit by an object, spinning out and regaining control is fun. The green lines do make the game harder but feel really out of place. A big, slow space ship would probably fit the game better.

UFO GO HOME (VR) by Clavus 2017-05-18T14:45:10Z

**Works with HTC Vive using revive!**

The game looks great and plays well in VR but there isn't enough to do. The missile arcs are beautiful to look at and the characters are really cute. A game like this needs to be hectic, and at the moment it's not.

Good job!

Look up by Vodzik 2017-05-03T17:20:18Z

The idea is neat but something is missing. I never felt stressed or panicked. I think being able to hear meteorites as they're coming closer would add a lot. Making the terrain more difficult to navigate could also improve the gameplay as you would have to frantically watch the skies and at the same time watch where you're going. As it is right now you can look straight up all the time. But overall it's a nice little game, good job man!

Planet Taxi by Marin0104 2017-05-04T13:06:02Z

This could become a great game if you continue to work on it. The game is quite buggy at the moment but it has potential. I like the look and tone of the game. The driving is fun but improvements could be made. I personally think it could be a bit more "slidy" and it would be cool if the car left skidmarks everywhere. It could also be fun if there were some AI traffic and maybe pedestrians. Some landmarks have weird names making the game unnecessarily hard.

Some bugs I found: * The camera rotates for no reson around the "poles" causing the car to suddenly crash. * Sometimes when I start the game, the car is stuck under ground and I must restart the game completely to fix it. * I often got stuck on the bridge even if my speed was high.

Other than that, Great game! 10/10 ign

Small Worlds by stoo 2017-05-14T08:18:49Z

The world eater really looks horrendous but is a good way! The gameplay is fun but the collision with planets seems a bit wonky. The ship doesn't feel floaty enough making it hard to shoot without stopping completely and dying. I also think having the ship effected by the planets' gravity could make the movement more interesting.

Clash of Bugs by Evgeny Romashov 2017-05-03T18:46:15Z

It took me a while to understand the game, but after that it was a fun game. The biggest problem is that when a team is winning it's basically impossible to make a comeback. Some kind of times ability or something might be enough to be able to gain an advantage. With some more strategy elements this could be a cool little game.

Treelemma by Farious 2017-05-04T08:52:27Z

I really wanted to like this game but the gameplay just isn't interesting enough. The game looks great, I especially like the character animation and the music is nice, maybe a bit to dramatic. The gameplay on the other hand just isn't that much fun. I just ended up running around in circles, stoppning the world from shrinking. You don't really need any strategy or skill. If the game was more challenging and the character has a few abilitets other than just planting a tree, the game could be quite fun.

Quack go the Ducks by dimos 2017-05-03T18:59:47Z

Hilarious game! I don't know why, but watching animals getting brutally murdered by ducks is really fun! The gameplay is simple but effective and the graphics fit the tone of the game well. The difficulty increases at a good pace but when you only have a few animals left, a lot of ducks are to tall to be of harm, suddenly making the game to easy. Overall is a really fun and weird game. I really enjoyed playing it!

Minor Alternative Destroyer by wolderado 2017-05-16T14:32:37Z

Very fun, fast-paced game! I really like the fast, pause free gameplay but the levels repeated a bit to fast. The gameplay is incredibly basic but works really well. Some textures used another pixel scaling than other, which to me looks terrible but the sfx and music was really nice.

Le Petit Shooter by danisson 2017-05-14T08:09:29Z

Absolutely gorgeous game!

I really love the graphics and the music and sfx are nice. The gameplay is a bit hard to judge as I'm only one person but from what I can tell is seems fun but a bit generic. I've seen several games in this jam doing the same thing and I couldn't really find any thing new in the gameplay. I'm not saying it's bad, it just lacks some innovation. I really hope you continue to work one the game or make another game with similar aesthetics. Great work!

Watch Out For That Tree by souldeux 2017-05-16T14:46:24Z

A fun game but way to slow in the beginning. The game is so slow at the start that it's easy to lose interest. The game looks good but I would have made the trees darker and the ground lighter instead of the other way around. Good work!

Little Sky Farm by H4kor 2017-05-14T07:55:14Z

What a nice little game.

The game looks quite nice but the pixel scaling is not sharp when in full screen, hurting the overall aesthetics. I really liked the day and night cycle but making the ui darker at night makes no sense. The gameplay is a bit basic. I feel like there is to much waiting for things to grow. Maybe having the ability to water the plants would make the gameplay more interesting. Gr8 work m8!

smallworld by misterstripey 2017-05-02T18:07:14Z

Well this was an interesting one!

The game really hard, probably a bit to hard. Dodging two objects in such a small area is nearly impossible :). The graphics and audio are unique in a charming way, and complement each other well.

The Thief Of Silverkeep by StayFrosty 2017-05-02T19:12:50Z

Well, the game is quite sort and therefore a bit hard to rate. Is looks cool and the music is relaxing but the gameplay is, well, a bit too simple.

Space Balls VR! by mrroboman 2017-05-03T14:26:07Z

Nice to see a VR game in Ludum Dare!

It took me a while to figure out what was going on but when I got hang of it was fun but a bit to easy. It didn't take long before my planet was bigger than myself, this made it quite hard to see :). The planets look cute but some sound effects would have improved the game a lot.

Formigables by Studim 2017-05-03T13:54:07Z

The game looks cool but I don't understand what the goal is. There is just a bunch off ants running around. You have clearly out some effort into the game so why not write a description and post some screenshots?

Treasure Hunter by The Shadow 2017-05-04T08:24:24Z

The puzzles were a fun but a bit to easy. I never understood what the random letters and the car was about though. The game feels unsure about is't own identity. The graphics, audio, and puzzles doesn't really go together that well. A puzzle game based on math and observation could be interesting but the concept needs more work.

Tiny Game by Rudeboy 2017-05-04T09:03:02Z

Muy bien! I really like the concept of using a small window and I think this games does that very well. It would had been cool if the entire window moved instead of moving the camera to the next level. Overall the game feels very well made. My only gripe is that the controls feel a bit sluggish. Other than that, great job!

Destroyed by robstralia 2017-05-04T07:53:30Z

A simple concept but it works quite well. The biggest problem is that there is no reason to not spam rockets everywhere. Having to conserve your rockets would have put more effort in aiming. As it is right now is more of a spam-fest than anything else, but that works too.

Santa's Delivery Service by Bizbud 2017-12-06T18:15:26Z

Lovely game! A very beautiful and atomspheric game and the truck controls really well for a Ludum dare game. But the DOF effect is a bit over the top and the camera controls a bit to limmited.

Can't Save Them All! by Robert Newman 2017-12-07T11:57:21Z

One of the best games so far. The game looks good and the animations are hilarious. A game like this is reguieres good movement mechanics and in this game the movent is very simple and and the controls a bit wonky. There is no sense of acceraration and chrashing has no repercussions. I don't want to come off as to negative because the game is great but the movment is to simple for me to give it a perfect score.

Great work!

AdBlock Doesn't Work! by talisra22 2017-12-26T11:58:23Z

Fun game! The "youtube" player is really well made and I like the concept but i'm missing some realism. When you click an ad you should get redirected to their website and/or get a virus that slows down the computer or something. The game should be more infuriating and more stressfull. But well done!

TO HOT TO DOG by Lonzago_Art 2017-12-07T09:53:37Z

I couldn't figure out how the game works. The first costumer comes up orders basicly everything on the menu in very rappid succession making it impossible to remember. After that no one else orders anything. But the game looks good!

Tax Evasion Hero by ebim 2017-12-07T15:35:37Z

Cool game! I really like how you can use all(?) items on all objects. The game looks great and the music fits perfectly. I don't get the timer. It only ticks down when you do something making it seemingly unnecessary. The mouse input smoothing combined with the low FOV and extrem motion blur made it a very nauseating experience for me sadly. There are quite a few of us that are sensitiv to this sort of stuff and it might be something to think about next time. :)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Its Just Space by Random Wizard 2018-12-11T11:36:11Z

A pretty simple concept but realy well executed. Some enemy variation and maybe a recharge pickup would be cool. The graphics and music is realy good and the movement feels great!

robot-courier by MTIA 2018-12-07T12:24:37Z

You should probably write a desciption on this page on how to play the game as it's really hard to figure out at the moment. For an example, it says "Press "Space" use Umbrella" but nothing happens when you press space. The concept is as far as I can tell pretty good and I like the color palette

LD44 — Your life is currency

FINGER FIGHTER - High Stakes by Erik Brunnstrom 2019-04-29T11:54:07Z

@chuckeles @benjamin @lubaka Whops! should be fixed now, sorry!

FINGER FIGHTER - High Stakes by Erik Brunnstrom 2019-04-29T12:13:08Z

@chuckeles Yeah there is a major flaw in the game because if both player cut of their index finger they can only play "rock" creating an enless loop

FINGER FIGHTER - High Stakes by Erik Brunnstrom 2019-04-30T12:39:13Z

@5n1p3r-4r73m1s Normally when playing poker or something you bet money and the loser loses his money. In this game you lose your finger instead. You gamble with your fingers as a currency. I had plans to make it so that when you loose all five fingers you bleed out and die but didn't have enough time

Life and Death by thetatautau 2019-04-30T11:35:15Z

Super cute game! The art style is great and the puzzels are realy interesting but the jumping is not great as others has pointed out. You fall way to fast in my opinion. Otherwise a great entry!

Space Hunt by Rewzu 2019-04-30T11:12:09Z

Nice game! I really like the models of the spaceships and the lighting effects. I found the game to be quite hard and never survived for long. I had a hard time dodging the projectiles and the enemies took very little damage. The slow-motion effect on death was a neat touch. Well done!

bloodsucker. by whycardboard 2019-05-01T11:35:24Z

Cool idea! The game play was reminicent of avoiding pokemon trainter in the tall grass . The camera movent was a bit jaring. I think it would be better to have a slower animation speed or no animation at all. Art style was cool, specially the cards but the whole card could have been colored instead of just the corner. Some sfx where much louder then the rest and having no checkpoints is a bit to punishing in my opinion.

Still, good job!

Space Robots: Fight for Freedom by Fenderbate 2019-04-29T11:41:32Z

I love the scrolling effect on the planets! Really well done. Maybe they could scroll in different directions though. The only thing missing is maybe some animations during raids, like some small explotions or something.

Well done

Memories of a Captain by OwlyCode 2019-05-01T10:30:33Z

Wow! Super uniqe take on the theme. I played the original version without reading the comments but it didn't run as fast as others have reported. I accualy liked speed of the game. It led to many close calls and butt-clenching moments. I had some problems with judging the depth and often ran in to the sides of asteroids I thought I had passed. The music is really good and fit the game perfectly which is rare in LD games. I think the game look a bit "flat" so I tried adding some stars and increasing the exposure slighty in photosop. Let me know what you think! Test.jpg Probably the best game I have played so far. Great job!

5 Minute Dungeon by LubFotPig 2019-05-01T08:32:18Z

Nice game! I have one comment about the dashing. I think the dash-force should be applied in the direction you're pointing, not the direction your moving. As it is right now it works fine for dodging but using it as an attack is really hard. Also the bullet speed is a bit low making dodging bullets to easy. The arrow pointing toward the nearest enemy is a great addtion, playing without it would have been hard. Good job!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Orcs Must JAM! by AfroAnt 2018-04-28T11:26:49Z

Super cute game! I really love the dancing cactuses and the music is great. I would have prefered to have the rythm be based on the accual beat not the sound waves as I found it hard to time the keystrokes to the visual soundwaves even if they "hit" the orcs in time with the music. It's a bit hard to explain but it just feals wrong to me. The rythm system is also super abusable as there isn't anything stopping you from mashing the buttons wich also is super effective.

A really cool game but the rythm system needs a look over

Chef, yes chef! by blacksheepza 2018-04-25T16:35:15Z

Really fun! A interesting take on a cooking game. A scoring system or a time limit would probalby add alot. Right now you have no reason to not spam spacebar until you get it. Great work!

PainBall by Erik Brunnstrom 2018-04-25T18:20:55Z

@travis-spuller Thanks for giving some real criticism. Most people are afraid to say negative things about the games they play but I think it is important to point out the flaws so you can improve. About the goalies, at first they were usless so I did some complicated math and improved them. Then they became way to good. I tried to make them a bit worse but never found the balance so I gave up:|

TL;DR Thanks for the feedback!

BatBall: The Debut by OhFiddleDiddle 2018-04-28T09:07:07Z

I really stuggled with the bat mechanics but different the story lines were really good, especialy for a LD GAME. My favorite moment was when I jumped off the world to see what happened and you boxed me in on my next attempt. I really didn't expect that!

Cosmic Smoothies by tsedate 2018-04-28T08:56:50Z

I took me a while to understand the gameplay mechanics especially throwing the fruit in the blender but after a few minites of struggling I started to really enjoy myselfe. The basic gameplay works really well for the most part and you have mixed space invanders with smoothie making without making one part feel tacked on the other and unnecessary wich is impressive. My only gripe with the gameplay is when one time when I lined up to catch a smoothie a fruit fell in my hands instead. I also feel like there should be some sort of time restiction or something else on the snoothie delivery but that wouldn't mix well with the random spawning of the fruit. Some enemy variation would be great but is a bit of an unreasonable expectation for a LD game. I really love the color choise, purple, turqoise and pink mix really well, but the ground texture is a bit disapointing and looks really bland next to the other textures. And I personally dislike having diffrent pixel scaling and especially the stretching..

Really great work!
