The game was very interesting but my game received a very bad rating. I am also not sure which impact had which decision on the endresult. It would have been helpfull if there was some information displayed more clearly. I also didn't get why I couldn't do anything anymore on this day. It's a good little game but in my opinion the information given is to overwhelming.

@drskort Thank you for the feedback! Yes, the game has a little bit of balancing pending haha

The highlight color was also supposed to change after the player ran out of actions, but it was left to backlog hell and we never got around to it. Might send a bugfix during submission hour!

There are some usability issues, but they are not that important for the experience: - I could not tell when a day was going to end. - Some of the choice buttons had keyboard shortcuts that didn't work (maybe that was supposed to be a goof?)

The sound was weird, which I enjoyed. The textures weren't as interesting.

I don't really think this is a very interesting concept and it isn't executed very well. The text is not subtle about the "meaning".

Sent a fix in submission time addressing one of @drskort's concerns and added a desktop build.

Such a mood. I think we can all relate to this game.

HaHa! Such a cool game. It resonated with me, since I pretty much only make games for game jams and it is all about life/work balance.

This really did encapsulate my experience the past weekend working on my game for the game jam haha! I guess it would be nice for there to be some sort of button feedback for the end of the day screens where you could make choices. Other than that, cool game!

My game Farts was unsuccessful and I have no one to blame but my girlfriend.

The concept is so meta and fresh but I did not feel like my decisions had a real impact on the character or the game. I really enjoyed my run though, good job!

Interesting concept! It's like Jamception lol playing a jam game about making a jam game. I enjoyed it but the results at the end seem a bit random (played through twice with different styles). Also choices like working all night don't seem to do anything regarding progress on the game which is a bit strange. I think with a bit of fine tuning this could be something special! Good entry!

It's very hard to know what the choices I'm making are actually doing (perhaps analogous to where you decide to put your effort in an actual game jam?). I like the idea, but am having a hard time finding the 'fun' in this. The story path choices are all too real. Some way to give the player some insight into the impact of your decisions would do this game a lot of good -- overall a nice entry.

Overall: Not really all that fun on account of an apparent lack of impact of the player's skill.

Fun: I wonder if I'm missing something. Playing through several times, I managed to vary my life loss between -2 and 13 years. But the quality of the game only varied between 2 (if I slept all day) and 4 (full work load). In other words, it's hard to see how the player's decisions/skills factor into the outcome, and this limits the amount of fun to be had.

Innovation: Sure, it's a novel game idea.

Theme: Yes

Graphics: Looks OK.

Audio: Sounds OK; music's repetitive.

Humor: There's a couple of funny events.

Mood: See humour.

(P.S. Seven people is a lot for a jam - what did everyone do? How did you deal with the communication overhead?)

empyrean 2019-05-11 17:25

Thanks for the feedback yall! We're considering working on a full release for mobile, with reworked UI and (obviously) a lot more polish, and we'll take everything here in consideration!

@reheated, seven people in a jam is also a new experience for me! The key to reducing communication overhead is trusting in the skills and dedication of your team - all people have to know is what they are supposed to accomplish right now, and they will find a way to do it themselves. That said, i guess the team had me as the leader figure from the get go, which both helped things organize and certainly drained my life points a little! My 'main' role was developer, yet i couldn't code for 5min straight without someone needing to double check something or ask me for the next task. Stressful! Since the game was made as a part of a local event as part of Ludum Dare, tho, it was great to know first-hand the skills of local gamedev enthusiasts.

quite interesting ittle game, like game dev tycoon, but just about one game. I played it 3 times and still can't understand how exactly my decisions impacted final score.
