It's a really hard game and a really original concept, also, i love the idea of blowing the microphone to boost the car! Great job so far =D

2spooky4me I quit
Sound effects are really good, game actually feel scary. I can't shout much in my office so I was not able to finish the game but I liked it. You have really cool shader on environment, this combination of shadows + chromatic aberration and something else. I really liked visuals.
Nice to see a game with a theme like this ! Nice game and well done!
As the maker of the original 'Slender: The Eight Pages', I had to check this out the moment I saw 'Slender-like'. Not bad! I like the concept of using the microphone for additional speed, to help turn fear into survival. Still very difficult to get away though.
@agentparsec WOAH! Very happy to see you right there! Thanks for your comment, your game was a great inspiration to us!
Playing this you can tell a lot of effort went in to the sound effects for atmospheric purposes. This is one of the best horror game jam games I've played because of the different sfx and tense build up. Good work.
@Carter Andrews Thanks a lot! I personally recorded all voices and downpitched-slowed to give it a spooky feel! Also added SoundCloud links if you want to hear the ambient/theme Thanks for your comment!
Your 2d graphics are awesome.
Interesting concept. I definitely loved the music and mood. Also love the look of the creepy car chasing you. It's actually high quality horror game :) Good job
That was really nice :) ! My main complaint is the car controls, they didn't really feel intuitive... but other than that I like the simple, moody art (especially the way the sides of the screen seem blackened and blurry ) and the slender man / racing concept ! Again, great work, cheers !
@noa-calice Thanks for playing! Actually car controls are: WASD for movement, scream on microphone for boost. Sorry if we didn't explained better, maybe we'll highlight them in next releases. Cheers :>
@Iluvatar Thanks a lot!I put a lot of effort making musics and SFX for this game, your words are really appreciated
Good game , good idea :) Good luck.
You can check my game here if you want https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/bomberess
I was interested in playing your game, however it appears to crash on me after the splash screens. A Shame, because the screenshots look interesting, and the concept is pretty interesting in itself too. Anyways, I don't know to much about Unity, so perhaps there is a work around/ fix for this, but for now all I can tell you is the art looks good, and the concept is nice, and judging from the other comments, the game is nice too, so its a shame I can't play it... :(
@Gamekrazzy Are you on Windows 10? Try to change resolution, maybe it's a graphic cards problem! We tested it with W10 - W8 - W7 so I'm clueless about your problem :(
Nice touch with the microphone boost! Man, that monster car is tough to escape. Its one mean driver.
The controls were fine. Micro Machines: The Horror Years!
@Temmy Thanks a lot for playing! We tried to make it hard to escape, so you have to clue when the enemy will spawn and fast position in a obstacle-free place, saving the boost :)
It's hard, that's awesome :) And great sound!
ARGH, I died just because I missed the 5th cookies while trying to escape the slendcar, and end up stuck in the wall. I was so clooose.
Your game is really cool, it made me jump a few times. Perhaps the controls are a bit slippery ? Maybe it was designed for this, though. Overall, it was a good experience :)
Great art and sound! Quite an original idea, and created a tense horror mood.
@Hyorvenn We choosed to overslipper the car to better match with the LD theme! In this way, we mixed the classic struggle of racing games (slippery in the road that makes you go away) with the horror theme.
Thanks for playing! :>
This was really cool! I always feel weird with games where I'm shouting into the microphone while playing haha. The atmosphere is solid and really sold the whole experience! Awesome work!
@DraperDanMan Thanks a lot for playing! We had lots of fun debugging the microphone inputs. Shouting for 15-20 hours! Ahahah
@Memel06 Oh I totally would have lost my voice! Even as it is while streaming the majority of the event my voice is raspy!
Really like this game, very well done. The artwork and audio together set the mood of this game fantastically! And I love the use of a microphone, I feel like more games need to use the microphone as another form of input more
@TimeLoad Thanks for playing and rating! Very happy to see that you liked it :>
Well, that was fun! I love the concept, it's super charming. The screaming mechanic is a very nice addition. It worked very well with little to no setup and for me (since I was in public while playing this) I resorted to max sensitivity and coughing.
It was a cool experience, thanks for making this. Good job! =)
Your game is awesome! As someone who isn't even a fan of horror, I was completely immersed, intrigued and invested in the survival of my little car. Aesthetically the elements blend together really well, and really builds the atmosFEAR. Bravo!
It's cool to see someone else who also uses microphone as the control scheme. I hope you don't mind if I promote my game here, since people may want to try another microphone-controlled game :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/karaoke-ninja
@spelos thanks for playing our game! We're very happy that you liked it :)
@GastricSparrow No problem, I'm happy to have a microphone-friend in this LD! ahaha... I loved you game and reviewed maybe 15 minutes ago. Thanks for playing!
ahahaha terrible race! A shot in the voice is something extraordinary! you just surprised me so surprised by this mechanics
Using the screams of terror as a positive mechanic is an awesome concept! Great game!
This is a really neat idea, do you have a mac build available?
I pooped my pants but the game is fun i like the concept of mic :)
scarry...
@tyen we are working for that :D
You actually managed to make a top down driving horror game. AMAZING and the "scream into the mic" mechanic to go faster compliments the mood of the game. Very well done!!!
@eddynardo thanks for your feedback, is really appreciated :) Happy to see that you liked it!
So much fun, was just difficult to find the first cookie at times which felt like it dragged on a while without being chased... but when you did find it :| Thanks for sharing this, felt very immersed in the environment.
@Nerobius tip: the enemy always start spawning after the first cookie! So you have time to look for cookies and manage a strategy to take them :) Thanks for playing!
I enjoyed playing Scarry. Also the boost mechanic was fun
Enjoyable experience, v. spooky
Game doesn't work for me, keeps crashing while loading...
"The Nemesis was a lamb compared to Scarry"
- IGN 10/10
"The Game Over voice is too much sexy"
- Rolling Stones
@DaveTheDev are you on windows 10? Can you try to run it at different resolution? Also try to update your graphic card drivers!
@tyen Mac build released!
@Memel06 I'm currently using windows 10 and I tried changing the resolution, but that didn't help.
I guess I'm going to move on.
Thanks for making a mac version!
One of the best games I've played yet. You've definitely won the "Mood" category for this jam.
Using my voice to activate the boost is a great idea, but I think you should have an opt-out for this feature, because it's weird to play this game with other people nearby.
@james-leib Thanks a lot for playing and for your kind review! We'll surely add an opt-out feature in next releases, but we found that is funny to actually have to scream in order to play :cat: Just a fun LD feature, that's all
Definately one of the more atmospheric games i've played soo far. I like how you can speed up using the microphone. Can't think of any feedback apart from more levels and the opt-out microphone option previously mentioned. The skull artwork is on point. Solid Entry.
@mza We'll surely add more levels! We're thinking about a post-jam version with different enemies, maps and even a VR 3D version with lowpoly models! :> Thanks for playing and for your kind review <3
Well it crashed on my computer, I can't play it now. Can you please do a WebGL version? I think it will with me work in WebGL.
@Belga54 ** WE UPLOADED ON ITCH A 32BIT VERSION **
Don't forged to update your graphic card, and tweak the game resolution!
We can't add a WebGL version because of post-processing (memory eater) and microphone inputs that needs tweaks
Thanks for your time <3
@memel06 Still crashing, I think that adding more of the Unity graphics quality options in the player setting will fix it(I mean not only "Ultra" but also "Good", "Normal" etc.). Please try this I really want to play this game! It's a horror game!
@belga54 Can you contact me on Telegram? Nick: @memel06 So we can better know why you're crashing, maybe with a devbuild with a crashlog :)
Definitely a spooky theme here. It is cool that you have the option with voice to turbo boost. I thought the brown things were the actual cookies
Also try rating / playing my game!
@mazzletov thanks for playing! I reviewed and rated your Game this morning, you remember? I was the one with the "lowscore" ahah.
@Memel06 haha yes  Try Again for a new high score?
@Memel06 I can't use Telegram, you can find other ways to contact me in [my profile page](https://ldjam.com/users/belga54)
Interesting. I didn't expect the microphone gimmick
Got 5 for graphics without playing - awesome ! :D And the idea - i laughed a lot when read about microphone mechanics. Unluckily, my family sleeps right now xd
@GameDevMumin Thanks a lot! You can still play, if you put the microphone sensibility to max and blow on microphone it will work! Give it a try! and let me know :> Thanks for the rating! <3
Your 32 bit Windows export does not run on XP, it seems Unity dropped support for it?
@gonutz Yup, Unity has dropped the support of Win XP from the version 5.3
Game is crashing after second logo in both versions (32 and 64bit) using windows
@ferrandu91 are you using Windows 10? Are you using Integrated Intel HD Graphics older than 2011? Because Unity's shader doesn't support it. Can you run other Unity games? Also, try to add on the executable " -force-d3d9 work" to force DirectX9! Try to update your graphic card's driver, it's a common problem when you have old drivers :>
Well, it is a pity how many games I cannot play on 32 bit XP, Game Maker 2 and Unity both dropped support for it. I guess none of these Jam games really needs DirectX capabillities but cannot change how these engines work, shame on these engine people :-)
Really cool concept and fun to play, actually has a tense atmosphere too at points which is difficult to achieve in 2D, let alone a racing game haha.
@Supernerd thanks for your kind review! we've put a lot of effort making this game. Really tought days!
Wow, so spookey. Anyway, nice idea. Use of the microphone was also a nice touch. Overall, I really liked it.
Cool...it's a Slender racing man!!! Lol!! It's very hard but I love the graphic and the mood!!!
Game is fun! I like the twist with the control, but I have some feedback.
Maybe the map is too open? I mean, I really don't know if I'm in the same place every time because I turn much, or if I'm moving through it (Until I collide with the map limit). You have forests/swamp/bushes there to help with the movement sensation, but I don't think they work well with the orientation.
(I whistle to the mic instead of shouting. Too shy for that)
@ccglp Thanks for the feedback! We also feel that the map lacks something, but we didn't manage to fix it because we had to focus on other things (like the microphone manager that was pretty tough to use in real-time). We'll fix and balance surely in a post-jam version. Thanks a lot for the review and feedback! :)
This one was fun!, I had a bit of troubles with the sensitivity at first but then I put it in max and the game was way too easy. After one playthrough I tried again with a more suitable sensitivity and woke up my neighbors.
Pretty fun game! good job :)
So much to like about this game. Great concept, graphics, sound, atmosphere and super creative use of the microphone! Definitely feels like a complete and polished game.
If you have the time I'd really appreciate it if checked out my game, it's a combination of basketball and connect four: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/dunk-four
Awesome Mood. it works.
Awesome Mood. it works.
I loved the idea of voice controlled velocity. The game seems very polished and pretty fun.
Really fun and original game I like the unique mechanic of screaming
Welp... I'm pretty sure my mother and neighbors think i'm insane now... because I was really into screaming into my microphone xD Super fun xD very unique xD i had a ton of fun with this xD More games need to utilize mechanic of microphone and activating things based on sound xD super cool nice art, smooth play style xD
Thanks for making everybody think I'm crazy for making me yell into my microphone
15/10 would scream into my mic again.... now i need a glass of water since i was screaming too much
The game is great and the artwork is polished. 10/10
@edj99 Thanks a lot for your kind words! I'll check your game out :> @limered We worked hard to create this mood, so your words are very appreciated! Thanks! @rodrigo-denubila Thx man for you words! This makes LD so fun and I'm happy to be there :> @johnnyjw Thanks! We thought about screaming because in real life, it's pretty much the same! If you are really scared, you'll start to scream and run away! ahah @SuperTibbles thanks for your kind words, you makes us happy and proud of our hard work <3 @vkmicro YOU MADE MY DAY AHAHAHAHAHHA I'M ROLLING ON THE FLOOR MAN, REALLY AHAHAHAHAH I'm very very happy that you enjoy our work, this makes me insanely happy! This is what Ludum Dare is for!
Thanks to all players for your nice words, an hug from Italy!
The ambient noises and the creepy laughs really set the game to a sCARry tone! I had fun except having to run away from the Skull with almost low fuel xD
@vyolfers thanks a lot for your kind review <3
Nice! The shout mechanic is really interesting :D https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/dance-invaders
The mood of this game is awesome, really well done. Maybe I was missing something, but I had no idea where to go to to get that second cookie, let alone the other 3. Something of a hint system could be useful, considering your use of sound it might be cool to have a little audible ping once you're going in the right direction, something like that.
Thanks @gemberkoekje ! We tried to implement a sort of 3D audio hint but it had some problem, so we decided to delay this feature for a post jam version. Thanks for playing! :>
The game felt quite surreal. Great out of the box thinking. Cheers!
I enjoyed it! I had to stop playing tho, I waked my family up with my screams xD Maybe it could have worked a lil' bit better with better defined map limits and a jumpscare or two. Despite that, it's a solid entry! Congrats! :D
cant wiat to try it this is our game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/incompatible-rally try it out and rate it
Graphics were alright, liked the design of that monster truck, the weird obstacles tho.....looked like poo. 3/5.
Mood and Audio both 4/5 mood not 5/5 cause while it was scary it felt like I was a toy car racing around a carpet.
Theme 2/5 plenty of car games have collecting things and avoidng enemies.
Innovation using the microphone as a boost was a good idea, especially for a horror game. 4/5
Fun 2/5 sad to say but searching for those cookies got really tedious.
Overall 3/5
That was crazy!! Im impressed  Cool Concept! Check out my submission https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/gun-hockey Great work!
Its fun and the graphics is 5/5. Very well done Sir. I Love it Good job!
The first time I saw the bad guy was really scary! Wish there was a way to know what areas still had cookies left. I never got that fifth cookie :slight_frown: Nice work
@AfroAnt thanks for playing! We manage to spread the cookies like in the "Slender" game, where you have to collect the 8 pages but you don't know where they are (and no clues at all) With a bit practice you will know where cookies will spawn and starting orientating. We'll add an Easy mode with an audio clue (like a ping or something) to find cookies.
Thanks for your kind words <3
@ekkoekko, @digitaldude555 and @isopoly thanks a lot for playing!
I love how you mix the genres! The mood of the game was great, I have never finished slender but at least I could beat your game. Cool art and music! Congratulations.
I could not test microphone, but even without it the game is quite playable and scary.
Love the concept and having to use the mic to boost. Feels satisfying to yell when you're being chased and the music is pounding. The graphics and ambient sound effects are very creepy. Great job on this!
It crashes for me : ( Windows 10, x64
@antvelm can you write me down your video card and processor spec?
Awww... I'm a cute, little WHAT'S THAT!?!?! Works flawlessly on Linux, as far as I can tell.
It's scary! I liked the squishy mud sounds.
Both builds won't run on my Win10/64 machine. Sorry I can't rate...
I loved that you've build a racing horror game. Sound effects are really good, game actually felt scary. I can’t shout much in my office so I was not able to finish the game but I will do so later.
I’d love for you to review my submission as well.
@pebkac have you tried the "force d3d9" method? It's explained in the game description. Take it a shot!
@crowens thanks for your kind words, I'm happy that you liked it :)
@Memel06 Tried the link on both 32/64 bit versions, I get the Unity and Studio logo, then nada.
Hey man Cool game you've got there. Its awesome
**For all have some troubles with our game probably is the latest win10 update that cause some problem with our assets. Sorry for the inconvenience. We hope to solve this issue in the less time as possible. Thanks for understanding.**
I had LOTS of fun playing this on my LD41 Twitch stream yesterday! https://clips.twitch.tv/LovelyKitschyHippoNononoCat
Really interesting controlls and mechanics. I'm so bad at this kind of games but i appreciate a good work here. Nice job guys!
Love the mechanics and the style. This game is great.
This game is neat and a nice concept - think you need to find a better name though 🙃
This is really great, I wasn't expecting to need a microphone! Actually pretty tough to play in parts and I suppose that with further development, you could get that balancing perfect. But as it stands this is a funky little game and I love the sharp graphics. The audio really works with it all too. Good job!
Simple and effective! Really, that game was amazing. You managed to make a freaking big ugly car something that I actually feared. HAHA. Kudos. The game itself is simple, but for some reason all the features it needed were there. Good job.
When I first saw the screenshot of the monster I thought it wouldn't be that scary. But when I played it, it felt scary because of the ambiance set by the music and sound effects. I felt like the focus was on the horror part, but I think that is kinda good. Since I also made a survival horror racing, I think I focused too much on the racing, so my game didn't felt scary and I feel like my game failed. After playing this game, I thought of a lot of things that I wished I included while developing my game. Overall great job on this game!
PS: I think sCARy(Highlight the CAR) would be a better title than scarry, but that's only my opinion.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/black-horizon - Please check out my submission, Thanks!
Really neat idea, especially the actual yelling mechanic. You managed to make a really creepy atmosphere in this despite it being a silly game. Great job!
This is one of my absolute favorite games in this Ludum Dare. The voice control is sooooo innovative and fits the game perfectly. I have seen voice controls in other games, but they have only made the game worse. Here they actually make the game better. It was a blast to play, and I actually managed to win.
Great job!
I LOSE HAHAHA I don't know if creepy or funny but why not both. The sound effects both has a creepy vibe but also makes me laugh at the same time. I really love the "You Lose" sound so much. Since I hate shouting, I maxed the mic sensitivity and knocked with my finger to boost. The game game is fun to play but really hard too especially in some places where I keep hitting objects (they looked like graves). The art looks nice especially the ghost car. Great job.
Great job ! I don't want to repeat what the other comments say, but I agree with all the compliments they made. I would just add it's sad the main car doesn't make any sound when it move. It'ld reinforce the loneliness of the player, like the foosteps in horror games.
I thought the mechanic of yelling into the microphone was bizarre at first but I found it quite enjoyable! Nice controls and lovely atmosphere as well, very creepy.
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/witchs-escape
Nice job guys !
Very good! Impressing Gameplay and Graphics.
Okey, you got me with the title xD
And you scare me with.. cars! I dont understand how it can happen xD
Nice mix and nice effort mixing the two controls (voice for turbo and wasd for movement)
Good job!
This is really cool! It's really unique that you have to shout in order to boost, but it doesn't feel bad (although I turned the sensitivity all the way up). The graphics are fantastic, especially the design of the evil car. I wish that the sound design had been a little more advanced, like if the cars actually made car noises and if the big skull car sounded spooky. I would also like it if there was some indicator of where the cookies are, although I understand that that's not the point of this genre of horror games.
Amazing work!
This giant car thing was really creepy. The atmosphere was great too. But you have a bug in there. Even if you don't have more boost left in your bar you can boost your car. And I tried something else too. I increased the sensitivity of my micro and every time I breathed I got the boost. Maybe it's an interesting concept too if you don't breathe you get a boost and if you breathe you get nothing because this thing hears you. :D
Great idea with that microphone stuff. I just roamed around for a while and nothing was going on until I found the first whatever you collecting, and then it happened! But man, what have the world ever done to you to deserve invisible walls around the game space? :( Nevertheless, very nice game!
Nice concept! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPBmbPuy0Bg
Hey, cool mechanic using the microphone for the turbo. Also it worked on Linux right away, really nice touch! Although I have to say, I am quite out of breath now, I actually just blew into the mic instead of screaming but that worked like a charm :-)
I am not sure about the graphics, it seems you took the time to create the car and monster truck, they look good, but the objects are kind of unidentifiable, at least for me :-)
One problem with the graphics is that I could not figure out by looking at them what they were, the green things you can just drive through looked a lot like the solid ones. Also the graves were at first hard to recognize but then I got it, you drive over the grave and hit the tombstone, that makes sense :-)
The sound and black border around the map created a nice dark atmosphere, really cool game!
At first I didn't think much of the microphone mechanic, but then found myself singing out of danger when the monster truck came. Good job!
That was brilliant! Very innovative concept to use the microphone in a LD jam. I had a fun conversation when playing this game, hehe. When the monster truck appeared, I would actually scream to use the turbo and that was quite humourous.
Fun game, although it was hard to find the cookies. The graphics were cool but it was hard to see what everything was, but that just added to the mystery of the game.
Overall, really cool and innovative game. Great job
Wow, you actually made this quite goofy idea (the dream of a car?) genuinely creepy! When the big car appeared for the first time and got really close, I even involuntarily made noises :D The novel mechanic of using your voice as a turbo is ingenious! It even adds to the mood because you force me to scream which signals my body to be terrified which I subsequently am. Amazing. Also, my neighbors are propably heavily confused right now. Great entry!
To me the car controls felt a bit slippery. Also, it wasn't always clear what the obstacles where. For example, I discovered by accident I could drive over the grassy patches.
But all in all, a great and really unique entry! Have a fish <3 🐟
At first I was having the same issue as others with the game crashing after splash screens. I realized my mic was unplugged. After force quit and plugging it back in the game ran great! So I'd say if possible let game load even without mic, and maybe in settings you can add a "search for mic" button. I'm glad you had sensitivity setting too!
This was my favorite game yet! It's mostly due to how scary the enemy car is. Visually it is a super scary skull and the sound design on it and the creepy background was terrific! The rumbling of it was really top notch. I found it to be difficult at times because I would get stuck on environment objects that I didn't know would stop me. The art of the environment could be improved to communicate things that you collide with vs just slow you down. Also the player's car is quite lackluster compared to the nightmare car, but I think it's best you spent your time on the enemy because it really adds to the impact of the fear.
I loved the use of the microphone as a boost! It quickly became a natural control and made speeding away for my life more fun. A+
Great game, loved the way you add creepiness. The use of the microphone is also genius. And it actually is legit scary when the nightmare car (as others have chosen to call it) comes close.
This is one of my outright most loved games in this Ludum Dare. The voice control is sooooo inventive and fits the game impeccably. I have seen voice controls in different games, however they have just aggravated the game. Here they really improve the game. It was an impact to play, and I really figured out how to win.https://www.tcswebmail.info/ https://www.upsers.fyi/ https://www.prepaidgiftbalance.fyi/
