Very funny game! Makes me think if the stanley parable but more violent somehow :) love the weird camera perspctive and the goofy physics. After day 3 it got kind of boring (I just kept piling limbs in the... washing machine?), not sure if there are any other approaches, maybe blocking the walking path? Anyhow I liked it a lot, the room was also very realistic looking and the animations were spot-on and lifelike as well (especially barry, hehe).
Really funny :D How did you come up with this idea ? :smile:
Despite controls being a bit wishy washy in terms of stability, I love the game. It's a great deal of fun, and the tone of the game is great.
Haha didn't expected to really see the cops ! You managed all that well ! :'D I loved it
Nice work on the animations, quirkiness, and the bananas. I put all my stuff in the fridge and just stood in front of it when the cops came.
Fun little game. I tried hiding all the parts under pillows. It looked pretty ridiculous and made me laugh. Also, it didn't work. Good job with this.
@bobismijnnaam thanks for playing the game! Yes, the days get bit repetitive. I had plans for increasingly blocking things (like at some point toilet room door could stuck, on latter days there could be more cops, and of course barry could move to a new bigger apartment and much more). All animations/graphics are from Unity Asset store, so not my creations. I really enjoy the "barry's idle animation". I think that was great choise. :)
@corvin I don't know :id:
@totalaj thanks!
@Draedrus :) thanks for playing
@hankworx :DD you'd made a great... meal hider.
@ramza thank you! buddy of mine piled everything on top of coffee table and then threw TV on top of that pile :)
This was ridiculous, but in the best way! You weren't kidding about it being intense. Great job!
Not sure if I'm supposed to not know that I had evidence to hide before the game started and I'm just forgetful or what. Flailing goofy hands around is funny though.
Wow, it's an interesting concept and it was fun to play the first days, although gameplay itself could be improved. I just threw the axe in the fridge and everything else in the bathroom. Liked the voice recording as well. Feel mixed about the goofy physics. :p The system that says how many evidence you have to hide is completely bonkers, though. It always shows ridiculous amounts and said they'd found 1 evidence when they hadn't found none.
@fashionbatman thanks you! my job is done ;)
@huminaboz one of the important things is to make interesting start, so that you could have a laugh when you realize what you are hiding there. That was purposely bit blurry... although I think there was some finger pointing regarding evidence ;) Thanks for playing. And that is good feedback. I did consider whether to have exact names for things you need to hide.
@Nathalia Hohl Thanks for playing! I had plans to make guy check bathroom at some point, or so that bathroom door gets stuck. In one sense, this was also about letting you decide where you pile the stuff. Goofy physics - that's got both thumbs up and thumbs down. For this, it's definitely part of the challenge (if you use something else than bathroom, but like for example the fridge). If there would be no goofy physics, then it would change core gameplay for sure. I think that could be tested. I cannot say which one would be right.
The "1 out of 4 evidence found" text works. That's working correctly. After each day it always say "cops found nothing" even cops find something --- that's not accurate. Thanks for detailed feedback.
Wow! Very fun game! Made me nervous :D Barry Has a Secret is when: Barry can not go to the restroom, because there are remains of his neighbor. This is when you try to lay out neighbours limbs on the couch and cover them with a pillow, they are perfectly visible, you think cops catch you now, but they passed by didn't notice anything. This is when you stand near the dishwasher and hold its door, otherwise your evidence will fall apart. Thanks for the game, I really enjoyed it and amused mach! Good luck to you!
@Darkwing00Duck thanks for playing. I think you've mastered the game :D
Very original concept! Even though you didn't make the graphical assets you chose them well and created a convincing scene. The music was very suitable as well and I thought you did a good job with the voice recording. I hid everything beside the toilet haha had a great time playing. I love the idea you came up with here - great submission!
I don't get it. I only found the axe to hid :smile: Did I miss something? I played it in browser so it was a little sloppy. I liked the idea behind it!
Theme and mood of this game are great! The lighting and music work really well. Definitely was nervous playing!
@croewens maybe you need a cup of coffee in game... and remember to find the pie. It is in the fridge... thanks for testing!
@TayGoS thanks for playing!
Great work! I've never played a meal hiding simulator like this before. I loved the mood set by the audio and tasks. Definitely would like some variety when it comes to the objects to hide because I think you could have slowly revealed the story/secret that way.
Mood here was really well done, I was definitely nervous playing and waiting for the cops to show up! There were a couple odd things that I think could be polished:
- items rotate when you carry them, so sometimes you can't tell how it's going to land when you drop it - when I lost, the screen faded to black, but I could still hear the cops talking about how my neighbour was missing - I wasn't a huge fan of the camera angle, as Barry's head and shoulder blocked out some of the right hand screen
Overall, well done!
I got a strong "Heavy Rain" vibe from the setting and main character. Many of my concerns, the lack of AI sophistication, not knowing how you got caught, the lack of variety in hiding the evidence - has been pointed out and answered above. I still don't really understand where the other evidence is on the first night but I did think the hiding-mechanic was introduced very naturally. Very good mood and foundation to develop on.
Thanks @caterein and @Injured for your comments.
And @legavroche :)
Very fun idea. Gameplay is very humorously. I like it :)
this is when one truly begins understanding the joys of horror comedy, and i fucking love it. and i love you, for making this badass, funny, and creepy game with actual effort put in it.
oh a good tip on anyone wanting to get things perfect until the fourth day, just keep everything in the bathroom, and if you wanna feel extra safe, then use the aj box to keep the door closed . it worked for me, at the very least. i'mma go try some of the other people's techniques, like putting the evidence in the washing machine or the fridge, or maybe the sofa.
thanks @imod and @Call me Jack. HANDSOME Jack. :)
Great game! One of the best meal hiding simulations around! The only thing I don't understand is why the police wants to take away Barry's meals. Poor Barry.
The game is fun and well done. Really nice graphics and pleasant gameplay. Found it a bit hard to control picking up and dropping body parts.
Tell me, how did you get jack to play your game :O what kind of sorcery is this????
This was terrifying ... I couldn't get the refrigerator door to close or the bathroom door to reopen, so I ended up trying to hide all the limbs under the pillows on the sofa. Then the pillows weren't enough and I covered the limbs with the TV. It doesn't help that I'm a total wimp when it comes to horror games, so I was relieved when Barry was finally caught.
Hilarious, though. The random physics made it fun sometimes, but it was frustrating when I couldn't walk over the pillows I had dropped and when the object in my hands kept glitching so that I couldn't tell where it would go when I tried to set it down. Still, excellent work on mood and theme.
Really fun game! Interesting concept and take on the theme. The game seems really polished, and even the difficult to carry objects fits with the gameplay. Good job!
Please, take a look at my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/confessional
This is pretty fantastic. I loved the dark humor / mood of it. 9/10, would pile chairs and plants on body parts again.
OH NO! Day 4 and I almost made it, pressing my shelf against the broken fridge! :-D
This is a very funny idea, it is hard to find the evidence first, then it is very hard to hide it.
This game reminds me of Octodad, very hard to control and very funny, great job!
The graphics are cool and the tense music fits the theme. The walking of the cop is weird. The physics drive me nuts but I guess that is not a bug but a feature in this game :-)
Great job! Keep up the good work!
The game is really awesome! I was really happy to see that the cop was respectful and didn't actually enter the my bathroom ss2.png Or to see him not question my furniture arrangement. ss1.png I had a lot of fun with this game :slight_smile:
Very funny idea! I just piled all the body parts in a corner and covered them which seems like it'd be more suspicious but it worked. Also on Day 4 some of the body parts popped out of the drawer under the bed which got me caught unfortunately. Very intense and fun tho!
Really goofy game, too dark at few spots but its totally fine, physics are a bit wonky but i guess it fits the goofy gameplay. really funny and nice entry!
