LD42 — Running out of space

Skeleport by thristhart 2018-08-15T00:27:57Z

This is really fun, and the audio makes it even better. I would just improve on the menus/text, I can't really read them properly and some of them go off screen. Seriously impressed with that music, and otherwise the game feels quite polished, great work.

Days to Come by Cassio Eduardo 2018-08-16T23:46:07Z

Super impressed that this was made in such a short time, there is a lot in it. That being said, a slightly smaller scope allows you to polish more and make the features you do have more interesting. Nonetheless, I'm impressed, nice game!

LD42 - Untitled Defense Game by paraxite 2018-08-14T23:52:29Z

Pretty fun game, I think you have a good concept - it's scope is right and you focused on game play. I think however that graphics/title screen or just a little more polish would really make it shine.

Escape from The Alliance by Jimbly 2018-08-14T23:45:48Z

Wow I'm really surprised by this. I like FTL so this was right up my alley, but I'm super impressed how fleshed out the game is. As policy I have to suggest improvements, and it would probably just be a little more balance on the different components of the ship, to make it less of an obvious decision what you should jettison etc. Great work!

Hoarding Hank by BarkerGames 2018-08-14T23:34:22Z

The game plays quite nice, it feels clean and I like the concept as well. You have a good balance on hard I would say of timing to keep the game interesting. I do think the control could be slightly improved to make it more satisfying and the sounds were pretty aggressive, but I had the same issue in my game. Overall it was well done!

PushtA by larzan 2018-08-13T01:35:41Z

This is a nice game! I like the simplicity in graphics and the concept is neat. I think it could be improved with audio feedback for your moves especially when they don't do anything. The selected colour should probably also be shown on the blocks themselves rather than just at the top, for clarity. Nicely done.

Brightly-Wrapped Boxes by incobalt 2018-08-15T00:21:36Z

Nice concept, and the game looks great! I would only improve the movement system, it felt a bit cumbersome. The audio is solid, not too intrusive, but I would have like some feedback on when I'm going to lose the game somehow - either visually or audibly. Well done!

Platform (LD42) by bentglasstube 2018-08-14T02:09:17Z

Another one I'm liking a lot! The art style and music are just awesome. The game is simple but well executed. I like that you can't change direction when you've jumped, but it nerfs jumping a bit too much because its easy to just always walk I think. Maybe an incentive to jump floating space junk to collect or dodge would add just that little bit extra to spice it up. That way players couldn't just camp a ledge near a support as well. Still, the simplicity is very nice and I love the audio and graphics, I'm impressed.

Snake With Enclosing Walls by pingFromHeaven 2018-08-13T01:27:59Z

I think we were in exactly the same boat with our game submissions, so I feel you. I wasn't prepared enough for what I wanted to do and had to compromise and submit something just to have something there. So from that point of view my advice would be spend more time at the beginning of the jam making sure the scope of your idea is valid, or it will bite you in the butt when you are on the last day and need to restart.

The game is nicely done for what it is, with polish this could be a nice snake variant. I would recommend a stage more like traditional snake with blocks rather than floating point 'free' placement of the snake as it makes for a cleaner game imo. The snake also moves pretty slowly, the game could be sped up.

Put What Where? by Joe Miller 2018-08-14T01:37:06Z

Clean graphics, nice song and good sound effects. Not to mention the game play felt super polished and it was quite addicting, which is most important. To improve I would say there was just a minor annoyance which was that I was constantly clicking on the pallet rather than the box itself, so maybe a tiny bit of reworking controls would help but it might just be me. Overall very well done, you've done what I find most important which is making it fun!

TINY TOWNS by BearishMushroom 2018-08-13T01:14:56Z

I had to stop playing this because I need to get back to reviewing, this is really amazing. I'm super impressed and I don't have much negative to say. This is really fun, looks amazing and the art and SFX are perfect. One nitpicky thing I can say is that the selected item is not highlighted on the toolbar which would make it a bit nicer to see what you were placing. Excellent game.

Space Depot by Laien Pathfinder 2018-08-13T00:29:54Z

I really like this! The concept and art/music are very nice. Some minor advice would be put a cap on the speed of the ship - when I went full boost for a while I think the collisions were failing. The other big thing is collisions, I think its important to get those feeling nice because it was a little frustrating to get destroyed by the junk that clearly didn't touch me. Great effort, well done.

Delivery! by maxr00 2018-08-13T01:58:52Z

I love the concept! I think this is a great execution of the theme and you made a game that looks and feels quite nice. The game play loop could be improved a little, in that it was a bit repetitive without feeling like very much was changing except the timers getting a bit shorter. I think the concept of the space getting more and more crowded could have impacted the player a little more, maybe if boxes had more weight or there was a more involved mechanism to move them around so that you could really feel that placement mattered and the game was getting harder.

One other thing is I find that the player should be feeling frantic in a game like this, and maybe having tasks be ticking down simultaneously forcing the player to multitask and micromanage a bit more would be fun.

Very impressed overall, fun game, well done

TOROID by Yetman 2018-08-16T01:08:07Z

I know it's unfinished, but let me say that it really shows you took your time on what you *do* have, because it is really beautiful! I think my noobie advice for future jams (as in I'm the noob here...) would be to allocate time differently, if possible. Little things like simple sound effects might have a big impact! Well done.

Forklift Frenzy by malif 2018-08-15T21:59:49Z

Beautiful game, I love the voxel graphics. You didn't disappoint on the game play too, it is simple but well executed. The controls are a little awkward, but I can see the design behind them and agree with @mike-inprinciple on that. I would suggest investing even just a little bit of time into audio, I think it can really bring a game to life, and you have something great already! Well done.

Shrinking Dungeon by DutssZ 2018-08-14T01:55:38Z

Yeah definitely recommend another hosting service! Looks like a fun one

Dungeon Faller by nicksmaddog 2018-08-13T23:47:34Z

Nicely done! I like the art style and animations, really takes it up a notch. I think you could just clean it up a little more if you limited the player's and creature's movement to the tiles as well. The mix between the two feels a bit funky and it would solve some problems with hit detection and clarity.

Garbage Collector by bitowl 2018-08-13T00:13:04Z

That's really well done, the music, SFX and graphics really make it. The game play got a bit boring but the mechanics were well executed.

Save the sheep by Zlabya 2018-08-14T01:13:53Z

The game looks really great, I'm impressed. The concept is good too, and I think this could make a good game. I think the game could be improved by making the player susceptible to the rollers as well. Maybe some randomness could be added to the rollers and the sheep could move around more (even out of the safe zone) to make it more interesting. Well done :)

Give Me Space by annoyedCactus 2018-08-13T02:08:36Z

Nicely done artwork and music, and the concept is quite clever, I like it! I was having a little trouble understanding how to play and making sense of the actual gameplay. It felt like it was a bit more of a guessing game, so maybe some more direction or information would help on that front. Well done

The Unfortunate Story of Hans by Bloc97 2018-08-14T01:05:42Z

FYI the windows build isn't working for me.

Ludum Club- Running out of space! by Snackob 2018-08-14T00:20:11Z

I'm surprised at the number of kids trying to get in and bravely showing off their underage ID. Great idea, this is one of my favourite ideas so far. I like the multitasking and state of panic you can induce. I think you could have gone even further with forcing a minimum capacity or you lose or something. Another improvement would be to add slightly more indication when vomiting/fighting i happening, perhaps a sound would do. Well done!

A slow day at the office by gsalmi 2018-08-13T00:02:46Z

Nicely done, I really like the art. It feels a bit hit or miss like I'm just getting lucky when I complete the levels.

Eterneroids by skytiger 2018-08-15T00:08:26Z

The art is very good, and game play was satisfying! I would suggest you add sound effects because even the simplest ones kick the game way up a notch. The other improvement would be to embrace those pink debris a little more, to build up that 'running out of space' panic even more. I think you could do this by making the debris permanent but rarer, or at least really hard to get rid of. Excellent first entry.
