The movement of the player is kind of awkward, I'd say you could work on that if something! But it feels good to shoot down all the enemies! Good job anyway!

mormert 2018-08-13 00:02

I'd prefer if there was more things on the screen, like obstacles that can't be shooten down or something...

I really like the graphics and also, it reminds me of other really good games. Well done :)

so i managed to get to 4550 points and i then realized what the theme was supposed to be, those pink things pileing up. some ppl might not know about those if they dont get far enough. i would like to see power ups to help boost damage, or alternative shooting styles like split shot, missle shot, lazer or something. the ship was floaty, though it felt ok, but i didnt feel like i was actually in space. the game automatically seemed to give me back health after a while and i dont know from what. then when i died, i still had some health on the health bar. so maybe look into your death condition and check the health bar to make sure its empty. overall this game kept my attention for awhile so that was a good thing. nice job.

The AI seemed nice as well as the laser effects. I liked particularly the way you've implemented the theme here. Some polish on the design as well as some sounds would make this game even better, anyway it is a very solid entry!

I like the art on this one. It could be better with some powerUps and more ennemies. I made it to 3200 points and then, the game was very slow. Don't know if its intended or if its because of all the scripts eating my RAM ?

desperatly need some sounds effect.

good job

ramanujo 2018-08-15 00:08

The art is very good, and game play was satisfying! I would suggest you add sound effects because even the simplest ones kick the game way up a notch. The other improvement would be to embrace those pink debris a little more, to build up that 'running out of space' panic even more. I think you could do this by making the debris permanent but rarer, or at least really hard to get rid of. Excellent first entry.

the game play is very good, the art is great, nice game, just add sounds effects.

The base game was fun and the graphics were simple but effective. The pink shots hanging around didn't pose much of a threat since a single shot got rid of them, so there wasn't much filling up happening.

I think some difficulty and polish could be added by giving the player a little inertia instead of letting them stop on a dime. I think enemy corpses could be given some mass and bullets could push them around a little, and maybe only make the corpses blow up after getting shot a few times - that way you have even more stuff filling up space.

Nice job overall!

skytiger 2018-08-15 01:13

@cromo I actually initially had it so that corpses didn't go away at all, and wanted bullets to push them around but that didn't totally work. I considered making it so the corpses and pink shots would destroy eachother but ran out of time to implement that. I ended up making the build up easy to counter because I found that with too many objects on screen things started to slow down a lot and I didn't know how to improve that.

A fairly fun little game, great as a first one! I enjoyed playing it, although I would have preferred more challenge. Wackier controls, dead enemies, but you still did a great job! Congratulations!

crastinator 2018-08-16 01:24

Nice little game! The art has a good style. Love that sudden acceleration of the missiles which definitely made me jump the first time when it happened.

Adding even just a bit of sound would make it go a long way. Maybe try to make the spaces disappear more rapidly too just to make the game harder.

g4mr 2018-08-16 02:38

Found a bug, I think you forgot to delete enemies that go off screen. The longer you play the slower the game gets and it's taking a long time to process (my guess is a list or something is filling up like crazy)

Other than that, nailed the theme, a bit easy once i learned you could destroy the pink rings lol

rubixnoob13 2018-08-16 03:05

Really nice game! Much like my entry, it could use some sound, but the graphics are pretty solid and I actually like the idea of the ship rotating to face the mouse. Made me have to think a little more about how to shoot at things. Great entry!

captaindreamcast 2018-08-16 03:53

The slowness bug got me too. Which is sad, because I got really into it. Still managed to make it all the way to 5000 points, but at that point the bullet time made the challenge moot.

You put some nice details in there, like enemy debris getting pushed towards the shot direction upon dying, those things are always sweet to see. Really cool take on the theme for the genre too, you do get pretty claustrophobic when the rings start piling up. Had lots of fun with this, it's great!

comenoha 2018-08-16 03:55

Echo @rubixnoob13 on the sound idea, could definitely benefit from some sound. Also echo his reference to the rotation around the mouse, i played around with it for the first thirty seconds because I thought it was very cool. Well done.

jeke 2018-08-16 04:18

Nice job overall, I really like the artwork. The pace felt a little slow, had you considered making the pink circles permanent? It might have pushed the theme a little more into the foreground and made the difficulty ramp up faster.

mrjorts 2018-08-16 12:27

I like the use of the theme and the variety of enemies. Overall a fun shooter. There are some real optimization problems, though. Around 6,000 points the game went into slow motion and by the time I got to 11,500 points it was almost unplayable. Kind of fun to play in slow motion though. It makes dodging bullets much easier :)
