LD42 — Running out of space

Exiled out of homeland by Risist 2018-08-15T23:38:26Z

Cool concept. I liked the atmosphere to it. It did seem like you may have took on too much for the jam, as it seems pretty buggy, and there didn't seem like much direction towards anything. I was able to build a couple things, but it didn't seem like anything else was happening.

Brightly-Wrapped Boxes by incobalt 2018-08-16T00:01:15Z

Pretty nice concept. I didn't really like how obstructed your view was when you picked up a box though.

Ultimate Boss Battle of Doom by Gurbx 2018-08-15T23:28:22Z

Great game, really enjoyed it. And it's always nice to see another game written with Godot!

Crowded Dungeon by RandyTayler 2018-08-16T01:37:10Z

I was disappointed to see the end of the game. I wanted to hear more of the story! Cool game, well done.

Clippy's Awakening by aevek 2018-08-16T02:47:26Z

Great game! Best game I've played so far. I did run into one bug where it wasn't registering my movement consistently. If I held down "W" to go up it would go for half a second, then stop registering all together. Restarting the game fixed it though.

Tomb Walker by herinque 2018-08-15T23:42:28Z

Pretty funny take on the theme! The controls did seem difficult to manage. When moving backward and turning, it seemed like the turn would go in the opposite direction of what I would expect. I expected the reverse to steer more like a car while reversing, which through me off quite a bit.

The Screen Saver by SvartTand 2018-08-13T23:29:57Z

Really cool game. I liked your take on the theme with the window shrinking. I did notice that when the window would shrink, my input would get "reset", so if I was holding down a key to move, I would stop moving after the window would shrink, which made it quite difficult at times.

Galaxy Adventure, An Adventure In Spaaaaaace! by Cody Foster 2018-08-14T23:29:18Z

I really liked the music in the game. It was a little difficult to understand what I was supposed to be doing however.

Dungeon Faller by nicksmaddog 2018-08-14T23:19:14Z

@incobalt the web version definitely has some bugs in it, but I haven't seen these particular issues. What browser are you using?

Dungeon Faller by nicksmaddog 2018-08-14T23:20:20Z

@derpylz @doomshmuck @nick-girardo thanks for the feedback regarding hitboxes. It seems my last minute changes to the character's animations may have messed it up.

Dungeon Faller by nicksmaddog 2018-08-14T23:21:57Z

@ramanujo thanks for the feedback. That probably would make it easier on the player to get a feel for the movement more easily.

Dungeon Faller by nicksmaddog 2018-08-14T23:22:08Z

@andre-van-zuydam thanks for playing!

Dungeon Faller by nicksmaddog 2018-08-15T02:47:32Z

@incobalt sigh, yes I do see these issues in Chrome. I'll try to get them fixed, as it's pretty much unplayable. Firefox and the downloadable versions are working fine.

Dungeon Faller by nicksmaddog 2018-08-16T01:39:11Z

@randytayler thanks for playing the game! You should be able to move in all directions, and change the way your character faces by moving the mouse.

Inventorium by Ramanujo 2018-08-16T01:12:45Z

I had a lot of fun with this. I think being able to shoot with a mouse button would feel more natural. It would also be awesome to save your high score.

Space Inc by Lander Miskolczi 2018-08-16T00:07:55Z

Fun game! Really liked the graphics. One thing I noticed was sometimes when there were two walls to slide under back-to-back, they would get placed too close together, so the guy wouldn't stand up in time to hit slide before the second wall hit him.

Running out of Space by Andre van Zuydam 2018-08-16T01:21:10Z

Pretty fun game! Is the second level supposed to give a game over on one crash, even when you have move spaces left? I also noticed that the spacebar didn't seem to register on keydown, only on keyup, which seemed counter intuitive.

The Eternal Fight (for space in bed) by derpylz 2018-08-16T01:04:02Z

Cool idea! It took a while to figure out how to get the combos working. I think it would help if there was some visual cue that you've hit a combo starter successfully. It didn't seem like my character did anything until completing a combo.

Boy saves local beachfront arcade from aggressive mannequins by throwing stones by Nick Girardo 2018-08-16T01:29:49Z

Really fun game! Took me a really long time to figure out that you're supposed to pick up the debris after destroying enemies to refill the space.

Polterplot by posho 2018-08-16T03:09:41Z

Pretty fun game, and quite addicting. It takes a while to figure out what each of the seeds do, but once you figure it out it's easier. I could see it being fun as multiplayer.

Space Farts by iBalls 2018-08-15T23:54:12Z

Fun game! The movement speed felt really slow, and collisions with the side of the floors would get the character stuck. But other than that, it was fun to play through!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Princess Ribbon by Goutye 2020-04-21T02:56:37Z

Really cool game, enjoyed it a lot. There were a lot of levels you finished in such a short time. I did feel like it'd be nice to be able to click and drag anywhere on the screen, rather than having to click on the cube to drag, although I can see why it was done this way for the levels that have two characters.

The Show Must Go On by Jedeen 2020-04-21T02:15:32Z

Cool idea! It was fun to play through. I did experience some glitches with the movement and collision. I walked through the walls a couple times, and across the screen once or twice. Overall, nice job!

Keep It Alive by Pennycook 2020-04-23T02:07:54Z

Took a bit to work out the details on what each thing did, which was a cool part of the game. Once you learn it, the game becomes very easy. The sound was super loud, as others mentioned.

This was also my first jam since the birth of my daughter, definitely makes it more difficult! Well done!

Keep It Alive by Pennycook 2020-04-23T02:19:23Z

@pennycook I had stopped after 101 days. I didn't realize there would be an ending, it seemed like it'd be a "keep alive as long as you can" type game. After your comment, I went back and played it until the end. I would say it probably is a bit too long. I didn't notice it becoming any more difficult as I progressed either, which could help keep it more interesting.

Eternal Flame by Galgris 2020-04-20T03:23:55Z

Cool game! Enjoyed the art and music as well. I agree with the other comments that the camera movement seems like it could follow a bit faster, especially when restarting a level. Overall, nice job!

Guard'ner by superjai 2020-04-22T23:51:57Z

Art was really nice looking. I especially liked the menu screen. A small tutorial or introduction could be useful, as it took me a while to figure out how to fill my watering can back up. I kept trying to click on the water pump instead of just holding the can under it. Once two of the flowers died and I was down one, the game got pretty easy and I ended up just quitting out at around 5 minutes, so it could use with some balancing as the timer goes on. But overall, really well done!

Potater Toss by BoxedMeatRevolution 2020-04-22T23:33:43Z

What a wild game haha. Lots of fun to play, and the sound effects were great. Well done!

Ducky's Day Out by Kosmo 2020-04-23T00:48:16Z

Really well done level design. I enjoyed the puzzle aspect a lot. The sound effects were pretty great too!

Fishing Around by TheGameGoyal 2020-04-20T02:37:37Z

Cool take on the theme. It gets out of control really fast haha. Pretty fun to play, well done!

Are We There Yet by Twistashio 2020-04-23T01:13:02Z

Cool take on the theme! The controls were super sensitive, so they could use some tuning. Overall well done!

This Wasn't In The Job Description by ScottYT 2020-04-23T01:08:14Z

Cool idea for a game. The dialog was pretty funny. It would have been nice to have some music and sound effects. I didn't quite get the link with the theme, but overall well done!

Pump It by Dizzy 2020-04-21T02:41:16Z

Fun game! Took a couple tries to make it to the end. It'd be cool to have some sort of reward for getting a "perfect" hit, where the hearts line up exactly, like some bonus health back or something. Great job!

Crop Time by nicksmaddog 2020-04-20T13:59:02Z

@galgris @itsarjunsinh Thanks for playing!

Crop Time by nicksmaddog 2020-04-20T14:00:12Z

@justalocalhero That is one thing I really wished I had finished in time. I tried to push in some indicator at the end, but just didn't quite get it finished in time. I should have prioritized that earlier in development. Thanks for the feedback!

Crop Time by nicksmaddog 2020-04-20T14:01:33Z

@sergei Thanks for the feedback! I had gone back and forth on whether to put in a goal objective, or to just have a score at the end. I probably should have gone with the goal objective route in hindsight.

Crop Time by nicksmaddog 2020-04-20T14:02:28Z

@captainabi Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it enough for a couple of playthroughs!

Crop Time by nicksmaddog 2020-04-23T02:36:43Z

@lcstark thank you for the feedback. I can't believe I never thought to test planting on the fence, good catch! I agree, the movement could definitely use some tuning.

Crop Time by nicksmaddog 2020-04-23T02:39:07Z

@meelo thanks for the feedback! I had planned on adding weeds that would grow around the crops and cause them to die earlier, which you would need to cut with a scythe. I didn't quite plan for enough time unfortunately.

@ghast-neoh thanks, that is a good idea. In hindsight, the timer was definitely too short.

Crop Time by nicksmaddog 2020-05-02T01:16:13Z

@vollfeiw thanks for the feedback! I agree with all your points. I unfortunately de-scoped a lot of what you mention from the initial idea due to time constraints, but do wish I had come up with something better than the timer.

Bodyguard by kodran 2020-04-20T03:10:43Z

Great game! I enjoyed your take on the theme. The first round the description perfectly matched the VIP and I shot him because I didn't realize that's what the crown meant, oops.

Outpowered by LCStark 2020-04-23T00:04:10Z

Really liked the mini-map and the fact that it showed the areas you've explored. It made finding the missing parts much easier. I agree with what some others have said, that the timer between enemies was too long. I never really felt threatened by them, because I was able to take them out before they got near the generator. Needing to go back to the generator to recharge it was a good touch, and made the game play more interesting. Nice job overall!

House Plant Hero by dualtagh 2020-04-22T23:43:07Z

Fun and hectic game! Really enjoyed the music as well.

Lights Out by Shafournee 2020-04-21T02:09:24Z

Really liked the custscene images, and the overall idea. I agree with others about the movement. Was there supposed to be audio? There wasn't any playing for me.

How It Bites by Fire_phantom7 2020-04-23T01:26:55Z

I might be super dumb, but I couldn't figure out how to get the sticks on the fire correctly. They would always seem to be placed next to the fire, but didn't seem to make the flames bigger. I really enjoyed the art style though! I would be nice to have music and sound effects too.

Virus Simulator by Sli 2020-04-22T23:13:47Z

Well done for your first jam! It's tough to accurately plan how much time everything will take, especially at first. As you get more jams under your belt, you'll get a better idea of the timing of everything based on your past experience. Make sure to keep joining in future jams!

A.R.S - Alien Rescue Simulator by azagaya 2020-04-23T01:00:22Z

Fun game! I did run into some lag spikes at times, and there seemed to be some buggy collisions with the walls. But the gameplay was a lot of fun, and I really liked the art. Well done!

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-20T03:04:24Z

Well done! I enjoyed the game. I would say the ground was a little on the busy side, which made it difficult to pick out the piles of wood at first, but that may have been intentional.

Fire Saver by Vollfeiw 2020-04-23T02:02:42Z

Really cool idea for the interactions with enemies. I did find that the aiming was not precise enough, which made it difficult to hit the trees with water and the fire with logs. Moving just a little big drastically changed where you were aiming. I did find a bug where if you press escape and go back to the main menu, if you start a new game nothing will spawn in and you need to refresh the page. Overall, well done!

Final Interrogation by Gamer Fates 2020-04-23T01:55:55Z

I liked all the transitions between interrogations, as well as the art style. There was a bit too much reading to get started in the game I felt like, but that's likely just my personal taste. Well done!

The Given Path by Jvdwijk 2020-04-23T00:34:38Z

The stealth mechanic was quite cool. It did seem a little buggy when you accidentally dragged over an obstacle and would sort of need to start over. I also found the card game to be confusing. I think the cards needed the icons to be unique to the what the card was able to do, in addition to the color. Overall, well done!

Wasmball by itsarjunsinh 2020-04-20T03:16:09Z

Nice concept. It would be cool if the difficulty ramped up as you progress. After a while, it's easy to get into a pattern to avoid the projectiles.

The Soulkeeper by Camilo Quintero 2020-04-22T23:26:26Z

Very nice game! The art and music were great. The first couple of tries I didn't quite understand how to play (despite reading the instructions, so it might have just been a lack of comprehension on my part). Once I figured everything out, the game got pretty easy, and I ended up having to just quit out since I wasn't losing anyone, so it might help to have the difficulty ramp up more over time. Overall, nice game!

Keep Campfire On by FedeOlive 2020-04-23T00:55:05Z

Nice game! Having the fire get too hot was a nice mechanic. One note was that the game didn't show everything until it was full screen. Not a huge deal, but I tend to not play web games full screen most of the time. Overall, well done!

Embers by CaptainAbi 2020-04-20T02:55:28Z

Really enjoyed the music, and the art style. It was a little difficult to tell when the fire was getting close to going out, so having a more dramatic size difference in the flames or something would help. Overall, well done!

tiriplici by Trexxak 2020-04-21T02:20:48Z

Cool take on the theme! The graphics were well done. I think the movement on the toaster was a little fast, but overall great job!

Egg Bounce by SteelySam 2020-04-23T02:27:08Z

Cool take on a flappy birds style game. It is super difficult though. Having the egg not bounce quite so high could help there. Well done!

The Old Shelter by Seind 2020-04-23T00:25:38Z

As others have mentioned, the intro was great. I enjoyed the music and sound effects a lot as well. I think it'd be better to be able to see the full map at once, or at least have indicators that show which object a vampire needs, and in which direction they are. It was difficult to keep checking into each room, and sometimes a vampire would almost be dead before I ever saw them. Overall, really solid entry!

Sly as a fox by KarCode 2020-04-23T01:33:21Z

I liked the art style a lot. I hit a lot of bugs though. There were some issues with collisions (I fell through the ground at one point). Jumping didn't seem to work most of the time. I would need to hit the up arrow a bunch of times and eventually it would jump

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Grab Your Nutz by Budaniel 2020-10-10T00:11:24Z

I really enjoyed the audio. I do agree with the other comments that it's not really possible to react to the birds fast enough to dodge them, although it did seem like there were spots on the screen that I could stay where the birds never crossed (around midway down and to the left), but that could have just been chance. Well done!

Aouf Run by shubart 2020-10-08T01:50:57Z

Nice game! Really cool that you used your own engine. I did feel like it was maybe a bit too easy, so maybe having more difficulties would be cool. One issue was not really being able to get going in a straight line (at least using the keyboard). The arrow keys would turn too much so I couldn't go straight. The music was really nice, and I liked the maps. Well done!

Loop Skate by Cfdj43 2020-10-08T01:55:40Z

Really love the graphics and audio for the game. The starting speed was way too high, but after adjusting it in the options I enjoyed it. Well done!

Ouroboros: The Cursed Hero by LERPish 2020-10-07T02:17:02Z

Really awesome intro! I found the combat to be a bit awkward though. I feel like I wanted my character to stand still while attacking, rather than have the attack animation move me forward. Or to have the character collide with the enemies to stop the movement.

Overall, really great game!

TimeSplitters 4 by BlueCalx 2020-10-07T16:33:13Z

Really great game mechanic, and the puzzles are quite challenging. Well done!

Loop Line by sprvrn 2020-10-10T00:17:46Z

This was really well done! It took me a while to figure out how to extend the track without making it "invalid", but once I did I had some fun with the game.

Mental Loops by nicksmaddog 2020-10-07T01:43:43Z

@asemic thanks for playing!

Mental Loops by nicksmaddog 2020-10-07T01:44:29Z

@noah-kuhn @anrqangel thank you for playing! This was the first time I've made something with Unreal (previous jams were in Godot). It was fun to work with!

siad (a visual novel) by printablealice 2020-10-07T02:06:37Z

I tried to play the game, but just keep getting the error "Downloading Story... Cannot download game. Maybe the download was blocked, see the JavaScript console for more information.".

The JavaScript console shows quite a few errors.

Leftfoot Louie by TwoBitMatt 2020-10-08T02:19:01Z

Too bad about the sound, but the game itself was fun! It did seem like my car would get stuck sometimes, and I wouldn't be able to move anymore.

A Duck in Time by lovetocode999 2020-10-10T00:25:23Z

This was a lot of fun! In the beginning it was pretty difficult to see between the background and foreground, but I got used to it after a while. Good job!

VINYLED by Kamuniaft 2020-10-10T16:57:18Z

This was a lot of fun. The music was amazing. Well done!

Dreamer by mlkvr 2020-10-06T00:53:44Z

Looks very promising. Looking forward to the post-jam version!

Frying Donut by fachscahfttf 2020-10-08T02:08:40Z

Super addicting gameplay, really well done! I enjoyed the graphics and sounds as well.

The Loopy Wheel by Anshul K 2020-10-07T01:45:06Z

Great job! Sound effects were pretty amazing. Looking forward to your future games!

The Impossible Room by RainyDay2800 2020-10-06T01:15:36Z

Really cool game. I found the movement to be a little slow though. The character would continue to move for a half second or so after I released the movement key, which made some of the challenges difficult. Overall, great job!

RUFF TIME by rickropes 2020-10-07T02:40:42Z

This was really amazing! I though the puzzles were really well put together. My one complaint is it wouldn't always detect when I would press 'E' to pick something up, or Z/Space to turn the hourglass. I often had to spam the buttons multiple times before it worked, which made some of the levels frustrating.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Dome Romantik by Rongo Matane 2021-04-27T12:47:16Z

Really enjoyed this! Having different types of resources to mine was a good way to make the players choose what to prioritize. I did feel like once I upgraded the laser to kill in a single hit the game became a little too easy. I wish there were even more upgrades, because I wanted to keep playing!

Caribbean Invaders by Firesplash Entertainment 2021-04-28T16:49:39Z

Cool game! I think the steering was a bit strange. I think I would have preferred if the controls used W to move the ship in the direction it was facing, and A/D to turn the ship. Overall fun game though!

Helena by Minus 2021-04-29T00:34:11Z

I agree with others about the movement speed being slow. Didn't really seem possible to avoid a lot of the sharks as they moved a lot faster than the submarine. I really liked the graphics, and the ambient music was great!

Cave Golf by RoofloorWall 2021-05-08T19:39:41Z

This is a pretty cool take on the theme. It's very difficult, and sometimes tough to tell where the ball will go. The levels were designed really well, and I really enjoyed it!

Where's the water? by Labete 2021-04-29T00:25:35Z

This was a cool game. I do echo what others have said about the movement. Getting those issues fixed would make the game much easier to control. Overall, well done!

Extreme Pizza Delivery by nicholassoen 2021-04-28T17:04:05Z

Cool concept! I enjoyed the opening scene. I think adding some music and sound effects would be great, and possibly an additional mechanic like collecting pizza toppings along the way or something. Overall, well done!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

The Ribbit by omer1615 2022-04-09T17:58:24Z

Nice art and music. I'm not sure I was able to figure out what the mechanic was with keeping the rhythm though. It seemed like I could just jump whenever I wanted to without consequence (until I inevitably jumped the wrong direction).

3 Minutes to Die by sillyman987 2022-04-06T00:30:11Z

Cool game! Really enjoyed the graphics. I did feel like the collisions with the spikes weren't quite right, it seemed like I died when I didn't think I hit them. Overall, well done!

Wickfall by OriginalDog 2022-04-09T17:51:42Z

This is a great submission. I do feel that music/sfx would have helped immensely, but nonetheless it had a good atmosphere with the lighting. I do wish there was a way to see the castle while down mining to know when you have to head up to build more.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

CardRacer by Smooth 2018-04-24T01:57:43Z

I get a 404 on the Windows download link :-(

Sleeping Cat Drumkit Defense by iMer 2018-04-24T11:50:35Z

Cool idea! I felt like it was a little slow to progress, especially on the first level when it's just one button, but overall I liked it!

Rhythm Quest by achebit 2018-04-26T01:23:03Z

Really liked this game! By far my favorite so far. However, I really didn't like the control placement at C, V, B, N. It felt really cramped. I would have preferred something like D, F, J, K on a QWERTY keyboard. It's probably the type of game that would do really well if it allowed you to choose your own control scheme.

It did seem like sometimes when the notes were hit in rapid succession, the sound from hitting the notes could lag a little bit, which threw me off a couple times.

Awesome job!

Keyboard Kingdom by kleinzach 2018-04-26T01:42:09Z

Got it in 9 minutes 56 seconds. Pretty fun concept! I like that the bonuses for the farm and mine allow for you to go back and forth typing between them, while still having type to get their bonus.

Eldritch Cuisine by LoHii 2018-04-24T02:15:51Z

I really liked the artwork and music!

Racing Tower Defense by Flying Cat of the Pepes 2018-04-25T23:50:36Z

Pretty fun! And a different take on the Racing Tower Defense than my game haha.

Monster Beat by neonian 2018-04-24T22:27:00Z

Really enjoyed it! Took me a while to realize that there was a green arrow above the person who's turn it was. Before seeing that it was difficult to tell who was up sometimes. The music also seemed really quiet. Other than that, it was really fun!

Zoccer by PhilStrahl 2018-04-25T02:18:19Z

Pretty fun game! I really liked the overall style of the game. The music in the background sounded really nice too.

Rhythm Jump by _benhumphries 2018-04-26T00:52:48Z

Really enjoyed the music. The art style was really cool as well. I didn't really see how paying attention to the music helped with the timing of my jumps though. I get that the jumps would need to happen at the same time as the beat, but without knowing the song there wasn't any way of knowing when the beat would occur, or how long it would hold. Overall I really liked it!

Chord Run by saturn007 2018-04-26T01:00:44Z

I like how you just fall of the end after you win haha. I enjoyed the concept, and the control scheme. I do agree that it needs to give you more space after a respawn, as it would get kind of stuck in a loop of colliding and respawning until you can get the timing of the first note.

Overall, good job!

Save Witch (Platformer + Puzzle) by pillowPillow 2018-04-24T01:25:51Z

The link you have to itch.io doesn't seem to be working.

clickjumper by Memedev0 2018-04-26T00:32:41Z

I really enjoyed the level design. I didn't really feel a mashup of two genres though.

PlatSCII by whycardboard 2018-04-24T22:18:50Z

Great game! Really enjoyed it. Just wish there were more levels to play!

Racing Defender by nicksmaddog 2018-04-23T22:46:54Z

@JCMonkey yes, I would agree. I re-arranged the level right before submission and forgot to add those in.

@morphine that is an odd bug, I haven't seen that before. To upgrade towers, you need to drive up to one and press 'E'. I admit, I didn't do a great job explaining it on the main title screen.

@Jason-Kennedy I had a hard time balancing the game. After playing it 1,000 times during development, it started to feel too easy. I needed to have some play testing done before submitting!

@aplite @morphine that is strange, I'll see if I can fix whatever is causing that bug. Are you playing the web version?

@let-off-studios That's exactly what I was going for! Thank you so much for your comment, it makes the entire jam worth it!

@morrilet thanks for the feedback! It does actually show you how many resources you have, and how many are needed for an upgrade, in the top left of the screen. The text is pretty light and can blend into the background a bit. That was something I wanted to improve but wasn't able to get to.

@slashee-the-cow thanks for all the feedback! I originally had art for walls to go around the racetrack, but could not for the life of me make them look any good. So, I ended up with invisible walls haha. There is definitely a lack of explanation of resources and building, and the GUI doesn't do it any favors. That's something I want to focus on in the next LD. Thanks for the feedback on the movement, that's another thing I want to improve next LD! Whether it's a car or something else.

Fun game! I was disappointed there was no "You win!" after killing everything.

Cool idea! Really different style of game. Enjoyed it!

Nice suspense. First time I played I was looking around to try to see the bear coming, haha.
