Nice.
Honestly, even without the timer the game was fun - because the plants wither. It's clearly a well made game, I liked it. It's a pretty relaxing game. Good job!
Cute little game. Like the music, simple as it is. Could have used a way to tell when the plants were in danger of withering.
Mostly I want to figure out the mystery of the tree. It haunts my dreams.
Simple mechanics, nice game! I would probably like it better if I had a specific objective before me like "Grow 10 crops" or something. It would motivate me to outplay the game. But without objectives this game is very relaxing makes me want to return to it if I need this kind of mood. That's nice!
Very nice! I enjoyed the mood and the way the little guy moves. I played a few times to try different strats :)
@galgris @itsarjunsinh Thanks for playing!
@justalocalhero That is one thing I really wished I had finished in time. I tried to push in some indicator at the end, but just didn't quite get it finished in time. I should have prioritized that earlier in development. Thanks for the feedback!
@sergei Thanks for the feedback! I had gone back and forth on whether to put in a goal objective, or to just have a score at the end. I probably should have gone with the goal objective route in hindsight.
@captainabi Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it enough for a couple of playthroughs!
i like the farm games, good job!!
very soothing gameplay, the ominous timer takes away from that a bit. The soundtrack might be the best one I've heard today and unbelievably fits the mood!
I like the character artwork, happy face and hat makes me feel sun safe and happy. I wish it went for longer so I could pick up 'harvest the corn'. Tried to water the tree a few times but just could crack it and get those sweet tree fruit to grow :) What a wild 48hrs, well done.
A fine, relaxing game. The slow and calm music in the background works wonderfully here. :)
Here's a few issues I found: 1. As others have said, it really needs some notification about plant hydration status.
2. When you move the character and want to stop, the character doesn't stop immediately. A lot of times that caused me to waste precious time. I moved fast to try watering a plant quickly, but the character floated a bit too far and I watered an empty tile. I had to wait for the watering animation to finish before I could go back one tile and try it again. More precise controls would do great here.
3. I know it was probably not intentional, but you can plant crops on fence tiles. That is not a huge problem, just looks weird. One thing that can be problematic is that you can plant crops on the top fence row, but you cannot water them - I guess the watering can collider is too big for you to be able to reach the top row of the map.
Its cool! I think this kind of game would be more fun if we would have more time. But great work overall
This is chill and fun -- something that seems kind of interesting to me is that I get to choose the level of challenge I want. Literally, I reap what I sow, cool concept.
I like the art and the player animations. I'd like to be able to increase the time in the game some way. :) Very nice job!
Good take on the theme. Unfortunately the timer left me feeling pressed to plant more instead of trying to keep the previous plants alive. The best I managed was 13. I could see this as a Frantic Farmer type of game where you have to keep the plants watered and chase away crows and such. Would make for a fun touch-to-move mobile game.
Aw, the main character is so cute! And the little animations for watering/planting are nice too. It took me until the second try to water a plant early enough that it later withered and I felt legitimately sad when this happened - my poor little farmer failed! It seemed, though, that this might be more fun if there were more elements of challenge than "water these plants" - something, for instance, that occasionally had to be done in some random place in the screen. Otherwise, it's sort of just planning out a route to water your plants.
I liked it! The timer felt a little harsh though - it felt like my runs were getting cut off before withering really started to be a factor. It maybe would have been cool if it added additional time for fully growing a plant or something like that.
@lcstark thank you for the feedback. I can't believe I never thought to test planting on the fence, good catch! I agree, the movement could definitely use some tuning.
@meelo thanks for the feedback! I had planned on adding weeds that would grow around the crops and cause them to die earlier, which you would need to cut with a scythe. I didn't quite plan for enough time unfortunately.
@ghast-neoh thanks, that is a good idea. In hindsight, the timer was definitely too short.
Pretty nice feel playing this. There's a problem with that 60s loop somehow, feels like there's an optimized way to play this and the low timer, with the fact that you need to loop around your crop to get them pretty makes the game "too" easy to reach that max point. The idea of @ghast-neoh is a great way around this, but i guess this would just push that end point a little further. Maybe you could just find some sort of alternative way to score, based, like giving an extra point for every 5 second a plant is fully grown, and maybe even more points if that fully grown plant isn't watered for a while, that would ensure that player will take more risk to get more point.
I'm pretty sure that would lead to find a better strategy and way more randomized score outcome. You could even put some good and bad spot for growing plant, not that much but like, if they are too close together, they grow slower because of the water spreading out around.
And, don't take it bad, if i'm so negative, that's because I liked your game pretty much, i just feels that some adjustment could make it way funnier :)
@vollfeiw thanks for the feedback! I agree with all your points. I unfortunately de-scoped a lot of what you mention from the initial idea due to time constraints, but do wish I had come up with something better than the timer.
