LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Stuff and things by Travis turnbull 2017-12-04T14:18:40Z

Fun concept! Would be cool more boxes where added when clicking on the spheres, and it would also help extend the game time. I could see this being a fun mobile game.

As @thiagofr mentioned the game file was not easy to locate, and some of the boxes seemed to get stuck off screen.

Spatium Calorem by AdroitConceptions 2017-12-04T14:00:13Z

Love the overheat mechanic! Felt like there was a good balance between shooting and needing to cool down. Really like your take on the theme.

Flips! by Beavl_Games 2017-12-05T12:02:26Z

Maybe it is just me, but the rules do not seem very clear. For example: On level 8 (I think) when I select the tier 2 red and tier 2 purple, the red tiles clear, but the purple tiles remain.

Beyond the rules, I really like the graphics and the clean (clutter free) look.

Seems like this would be a really fun mobile game if the rules were more clearly demonstrated.

SHROOOMS by theloneplant 2017-12-04T04:07:36Z

Fun concept! It would be helpful if there was more of a visual cue when the mushrooms are no longer edible, but not yet hostile.

LD42 — Running out of space

Board 'n' pieces by AVAVT 2018-08-15T10:44:01Z

Really enjoyed this game. The graphics and gameplay were very well done. Having the reference on the left was a nice inclusion. I think this would work well for mobile (which is an easy add for Unity).

I would suggest that the floor falling happen at a quicker rate. Didn't encounter many situations where a tile was at risk of falling under me.

Overall fantastic entry, and I could see myself playing a version of this with more levels and improved AI.

Storage Rental 101 by SpeedySloth99 2018-08-15T10:55:26Z

Nice job with your first attempt with the UI. I would have never guessed you had not done UI before. There doesn't seem to be any real objective to the game, so I just kept the storage units as full as possible. I would also like to see my current money on the same screen as my clients.

Party Person by DrDolan 2018-08-15T11:04:30Z

Great use of the theme! The game was a great play, and never felt overwhelming with the missions and people showing up. Two possible improvements: - Show a progress bar on completing missions (i.e. how much longer I am stuck repairing the glass) - Have the guests walk in the house through the door and just wander around

Overall this was a great entry. Be proud!

DOS: Deletion (of) Old Stuff by Call_me_Nutty 2018-08-15T13:23:02Z

Fun platformer, but the difficulty ramps very quickly and requires some very precise jumps. A slower difficulty ramp would probably help people get more invested in the game and have the endurance to beat the game.

Memory Exception by rvenson 2018-08-15T13:26:55Z

Great entry! I love the fully developed tutorial level you included. Definitely adds a polish you don't see in most jam games. The mechanic was good, but having a randomizer to change up the color needs for the programs would add more variety to the game. Also loved the detail of showing the programs loading the the bottom right. Really well done!

cargOS by tigerj 2018-08-14T10:18:25Z

Had a lot of fun watching the development on this! You did a great job with the theme. Definitely felt like I was running out of space. I was noticing while playing that the numpad would have been a good key combination if the 5 key was an action key.

Unbelievable Space Runner by Derek Volker 2018-08-15T13:19:52Z

Starts off rather slow. It would be nice if you could sprint to go faster for the beginning stages. That being said I was quite humored by your take on the theme. The phasing power up was a nice way to mix up the game play. It would be cool if you could use the phasing without draining the whole bar.

JUNKYARD by NOTBADGUN 2018-08-15T13:08:01Z

Great entry! The audio and mood were well done. The only problem I encountered was as the blocks settled my combos would break. Otherwise everything was really enjoyable.

Book Crook! by Ossi 2018-08-15T13:13:49Z

I love some of these book names! Overall there seemed that RNG was the only thing to determine the quality of books. It may be more engaging if the books were scrolling by and you had to pick up enough before time ran out. I saw you noted about trying to do something with a timer and changing the book selection. Would definitely add some depth to the game. But hey, this is LD. Everyone runs out of time on great ideas.

Cat´s personal space by DingoDize 2018-08-14T02:16:12Z

Great game! Love your take on the theme. Having objects with different weights added some depth to the game. Finding a way to scale your game window would be useful. I did have to switch windows to play the game.

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-14T10:35:27Z

Awesome work! Very detailed instructions make if feel like a well polished strategy game. Music fit the game well, and really enjoyed the art work.

DEFRAG by jdhollen 2018-08-14T02:08:07Z

Really fun game. I initially did not understand, but after watching the GIF for a couple of loops the game mechanic "clicked". If there was some way to make it more intuitive it would probably help.

Overall I really liked the audio and the mechanic. Great entry!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Sacriphylagus by Igor KinGamer 2018-12-03T20:57:36Z

This is a fun game. It took a little while to figure out the balance between the bunnies and the weight of the overall ship.

The audio was a good complement to the game.

The M.O.N.K. by arkiruthis 2018-12-05T14:05:03Z

Really enjoyed this game. The graphics were really enjoyable, and the audio helped set the mood. The only problem I saw was it feels like you can go forever. There was very little threat in the game. The spells were very effective, and the mana was easy to keep high.

Conga Line Survival by fashionbatman 2018-12-03T19:56:55Z

Love the twist on the classic Snake game. The player moved a little fast, and if you press the keys too quickly the input is not received. Either slowing the player down or capturing the key presses in a queue would be a great improvement.

ICATUS and the Golden Ball of Yarn by freakoftheyear 2018-12-05T13:48:50Z

This is a fun game. The graphics and audio are well done. The controls felt a little too stiff. I did really like the added mechanic of being able to sacrifice a feather for a second jump.

Diaball by Antti Haavikko 2018-12-03T17:20:52Z

Love the graphics and music! Really sets the mood. Only suggestion would be to inform the player that they can click and hold to slow it down. It completely changed the game once I realized I could to that.

Diaball by Antti Haavikko 2018-12-03T18:57:28Z

@antti-haavikko Okay so I went back and replayed through level three, and it is clear now that I know what I am looking for. Initially it just appeared to be a cosmetic detail to me. I would maybe change the button out with a mouse icon, and make it a transition screen.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this in my earlier post, but your level design and progression are really well done. I got a high level of satisfaction on some of the later levels. Particularly once the 4-directional pieces started getting involved.

Diaball by Antti Haavikko 2018-12-03T20:00:15Z

@antti-haavikko I didn't get to the very end, I only got to the level which introduces the three arms very close together. At some point I plan to comeback to finish the game.

Difficulty is always hard to judge when you are the one making it, but I feel like the balance was really well done. Especially once I figured out how to slow down time.

Mr. Fluffer's Big Day by CaptainDreamcast 2018-12-05T15:16:15Z

Really loved the humor in the game!

Space Traveler by SanyingLi 2018-12-05T13:31:40Z

Really like the retro feel to this. The gameplay was fun, but the difficulty ramps up very quickly.

x by ericm 2018-12-03T19:50:38Z

This game seems like it might have some interesting puzzles, only problem was I couldn't get past the second level. I couldn't make the jump onto the ledge on the right. The only way I could manage the jump is if I brought the box to jump off of. Getting a consistent boost from the rocket launcher also proved to be difficult.

Outside of that the SFX you added were good, but I don't quite understand how it involves the theme.

You Get Two by justalocalhero 2018-12-03T19:36:48Z

Really great take on the theme! Initially the concept was confusing, but after the first play through it "clicked" for me.

As others have mentioned, the player can get to a point where everything is maxed out and nothing changes. It would be great if there was a little more variety and maybe as time goes on you introduce another row of cards to introduce vertical dragging as well.

Overall I really enjoyed this game. The music and artwork were well done.

Little Red by LastLeaf 2018-12-03T19:20:38Z

Really well done puzzle game. Initially I didn't see any downsides to the "sacrifice" as they were just cosmetic, but at the end it all came together quite well! I played through both endings, and enjoyed the options you left open to the player.

Really great entry!

Village of Sacrifice - LD43 by backurio 2018-12-03T20:45:17Z

Very enjoyable game! The graphics look good, and the music sets a calm relaxing mood. The sacrifice system is a great take on the theme as well.

If you added an upgrade system (possibly from pleasing the gods) it would at a lot of depth to the game.

This is fine by Antt5053 2018-12-03T18:48:58Z

No matter how hard I tried I could never collect everything! I got within 4 items a few times, but I enjoyed trying to get it all.

Enjoyed the humor of the text and the frantic character. I think there are definite positives to take away from this experience.

Eldritchual by arkinrev 2018-12-05T14:30:57Z

Had fun keeping a balance between the different meters. The start to the game is pretty slow, but overall the gameplay was enjoyable.

Hemorrhage by Arcling 2018-12-05T14:50:42Z

This is a fun platformer. I finished with a score of 535. My only suggestion is it feels like the movement is physics based. When trying to jump on single blocks it is very hard to be precise because of this.

The Greater Evil by AndyGates01 2018-12-03T21:21:11Z

The music and artwork do a good job so setting the mood.

The overall game play is good, but you have to be very precise to make the jumps over the priests. It would be great if their range was slightly smaller to be more forgiving.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Jungle Magic by rsim 2019-04-29T13:38:16Z

Enjoyed finding my way through the maze. Great way incorporating the theme with the camouflage. As others mentioned it is possible to climb on the sides and walk past the natives. I would recommend making the walls just slightly higher to remove this issue.

Courage, My Knight by sparewizard 2019-04-29T12:16:55Z

Really enjoyed this game. The artwork was sublime and the theme was well captured. I would definitely enjoy playing a more in-depth version of this game.

Space Hunt by Rewzu 2019-04-30T11:15:21Z

Really enjoyed playing this game. My highest score was 4948. Your energy/currency system worked well, and I really liked your ship and exploding graphics.

I found the enemy ships did a lot of damage given how fast they fire. Maybe halving the damage from enemies would be good. I would also make the asteroids take only a portion of health. I ran into a couple of occasions where I couldn't dodge them.

Decay by Spaceface14Dev 2019-05-03T12:42:58Z

I love the fact that you can bounce the bullets off the walls. Really fun game!

Board of Life by Bentekiller 2019-04-29T12:45:38Z

Really enjoyed your game. I made it to level 10 before stopping. The music set the mood well, and I enjoyed the mix of the random tiles with the visible tiles. It gave the game a nice balance.

Powerless by m110 2019-04-30T11:57:29Z

Very well done. Enjoyed the random generation. Unfortunately I only managed to get to level 4. I would have liked to have seen the ending.

The Bounty Hunter by dk5000p 2019-04-29T13:22:44Z

The voice mechanics was a nice change of pace in an LD game. The voice acting was also a great addition.

I was unable to get the bounty due to the number of enemies that swarm you. It would be nice if you could say a direction and your robot would move until you say a new direction or stop.

Money is Life by lilou_cormic 2019-04-30T11:03:22Z

Really enjoy the twist on such a classic game. Would have been great to see the speed increase or more colors introduced the further along you went.

Rock, Paper Scissors: After (School) Hours Edition by SpliceDev 2019-04-29T14:20:57Z

Fun game. Really liked the art style. It would have been nice if there was a slight delay between each fight, and if I could see an indication of what I picked. My brain had trouble remembering the keys once the timer was sped up.

The most I managed was 10 kills.

Tower Attack by Martomate 2019-04-29T14:49:15Z

Really love the twist on the genre! I had trouble figuring out how to add units and nearly gave up. I'm glad I didn't, but you should note to players that the textbox needs to be populated with the number of units you want to buy.

Adding the ability to speed up the gamespeed would be great. Once I got a lot of units I had to wait for them to make their way through.

Delta Fighter by LiauJ 2019-04-29T14:03:08Z

Well made game! Really liked the retro graphics.

Pandora's Rising by Mantra 2019-04-30T11:35:01Z

Really enjoyed the procedural dungeons. I thought the overall design of the game was good, but I did get stuck on a playthrough and had to restart the game.

The theme was well incorporated with the game.

colosal colosium by chaotic development 2019-04-29T14:13:48Z

As others mentioned the theme is unclear. After reading your comment I went back and re-read the title screen and understand the connection.

I was able to jump over most of the enemies on my first play through which eliminated the need to fight. That being said even when fighting there was very little concern of dying. If the enemies did more damage it would have added to the gameplay.

Pilgrimage of Ascension by Pincushion 2019-04-29T13:19:22Z

The first two levels were fun, and I enjoyed the sacrifice/ability system. Once I got to level 3 I couldn't get to the 4th altar. Making precise movements once you get super speed becomes difficult. I think enabling a Shift to sprint mechanic would make it work a little better.

Top Hat Terror by neonjeff 2019-04-29T13:49:26Z

This was a short fun game. I enjoyed your audio clips.

The player movement felt a bit stiff. The acceleration for the player was really slow.

LD46 — Keep it alive

A drop of light. by cowa 2020-04-23T16:50:27Z

Great ambiance! Enjoyed the art style and music. The platforming was good, but there were a couple of hiccups with the character controller. There were a couple spots where I could not jump (likely not registering I was grounded), and at the beginning if you go left you cannot jump off the slope and have to wait to slide down.

Overall it was a good game, and this incorporated the theme well.

GRAVITY. by ben657 2020-04-23T12:51:38Z

Really love this game! The orbital mechanic was a lot of fun to mess with, and I enjoyed creating "chains" of slingshot maneuvers with planets in close proximity. Great entry!

Go With The Flow by Baby Dino Herd 2020-04-24T00:58:39Z

Great take on the theme! I never would have thought of a game like this. I love the POV from the stage looking into the crowd. Great job.

Adventure Watch by blearn 2020-04-24T01:58:15Z

Really enjoyed this game. The artwork is fantastic. Initially I had a difficult time understanding the minigame in the bottom half of the screen, but after a couple tries it finally clicked in my head. Great work!

Crop Time by nicksmaddog 2020-04-23T01:30:31Z

Good take on the theme. Unfortunately the timer left me feeling pressed to plant more instead of trying to keep the previous plants alive. The best I managed was 13. I could see this as a Frantic Farmer type of game where you have to keep the plants watered and chase away crows and such. Would make for a fun touch-to-move mobile game.

Game Jam Brain by PurpledArtFrog 2020-04-23T14:28:09Z

Great TD game. TD games work well with the theme. As others have mentioned the difficulty curve is low, but that is often a challenge (I seem to always screw up mine). I love the cheats and the lose on purpose options. Adds a nice mix.

4 coins by Vertuga32 2020-04-23T21:38:38Z

Great game! I love puzzle games, and this was a great fit with the theme. The artwork and sound were both very well done. The in game commentary was great, and I loved the humor that was inserted into the descriptions.

Great job by your team.

Keep it burning by Leon Oost 2020-04-23T13:13:34Z

Great take on the theme. The fire didn't seem to die until I just stopped trying. The visual indicator in the upper left was a great way to do a "health" bar. I would recommend increasing the difficulty. I got a score of 100 (I assume 1 point = 1 second) without even doing anything. If you increased the difficulty you would encourage players to stockpile wood for when it is raining. This would also mean the player would have to protect the stockpile from the beavers.

Overall this was a good entry, and without a doubt the Yell mechanic was the best surprise in the game :)

Super Survival Ball by Quinn_Patrick 2020-04-23T15:02:59Z

Great job with the game. The difficulty was well balanced, and gameplay was solid. Overall I really enjoyed this. The global leader board is a nice feature to include in a jam entry.

Save It With Fire!!! by Jason Woerner 2020-04-23T01:59:31Z

This was a great game! The instructions and artwork was well done. Really enjoyed the constant action. Felt like there was no time to rest. Reminds me a little of Overcooked. The only downside was if you lost you have to redo the previous levels. I got to the last level a couple times, but could not get over the final hurdle. It looks like this was your fist LD, but you entry really gives off the vibe of a much more experienced participant. Really great job!

Stay Frausty by GameDoodles 2020-04-23T16:57:34Z

Good game. The tutorial added a nice polish to the game. The audio tied in well, but it would be good to include a way to lower the volume.

The game play was good, and the platforming felt smooth. The responsiveness of the inputs are key to a good platforming experience. Well done!

LifeLine - Music Pattern Obstacle Dodge by WZQXRYS 2020-04-23T12:36:48Z

Congrats on finishing your first LD! Great job with the randomized music. It fit well with the game. The trippy effect was initially overwhelming. I think that would be a good feature to toggle between off, low, and high.

Keep It Alive Game by ZerohBeat 2020-04-23T14:15:36Z

Congrats on finishing your first LD! Good take on the theme, but I never felt like there was a risk of dying. I really like the way you start off the game. Starting from an egg and progressing to the 3 flowers and beyond offers a feeling of progression which can be hard in a short game jam.

I know people often run into time constraints, but having the health go down quicker and re-spawning the flowers would offer more of a challenge.

Henry and Alan by TheDoctorOfTime 2020-04-23T16:29:20Z

Fun game. I enjoyed the single screen platforming. There was a good difficulty on the platforming, but there never felt like I was at risk of losing. The minute timer just felt too long for the game.

Great job finishing this. Definitely feel proud with the work you have done. Completing a game in 48 hours is not a trivial task.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Whack a Mole by Tero Pulkkinen 2020-10-10T03:21:06Z

The concept has potential to be a fun one-touch game. It is slightly frustrating that moles can get by due to timing and the player has no way to stop them. As others mentioned the vertical speed on the moles increases the challenge of being able to stop multiple moles within a moments of each other nearly impossible.

Break The Loop by paulhocker 2020-10-13T10:18:54Z

Enjoyable game. The gameplay was fun and required good timing. I managed to beat all the levels. It looks like some of the UI elements were not actually setup. I couldn't save the score after beating the levels. Overall the visuals looked good.

Circle Golf by CG_Fred 2020-10-13T09:55:03Z

Very good execution on the theme. Really enjoyed this game. This would make for a great mobile game. I would play many more levels of this.

Mars Loops by Oune 2020-10-13T11:37:25Z

I really enjoyed this game. it is actually a very similar concept to my entry. The time allotment was well balanced. The audio was good, and when you first spawn in the visuals gave me a flash back to the old Pokémon games.

Imminent Danger by aplite 2020-10-10T03:05:47Z

@gevernus There was a problem with the 2020 version. If you want to try it again it should work now.

@tero-pulkkinen @apg The text was more involved than I had originally hoped. The story was thrown together at the end. Thanks for trying the game!

@fabdynamic Thanks for trying the game. In the first room you can search the cryopods by using spacebar to interact with objects.

Routine by Jammin 2020-10-13T10:55:18Z

The art style and mood were well executed. The ending was confusing. The purpose of the E key was very unclear for the ending. A proper ending screen would have help increase the impact of the ending.

A Boy and his Ghosts by Rolly 2020-10-15T02:25:45Z

This has been my favorite game I have played in LD47. I love these type of puzzle games. Great job with this. Your animations were great, the sound track was good for a compo game, and the levels were well though out.

Z-Loop by MoonRoll 2020-10-10T03:11:24Z

The art work is fantastic. This game has so much polish to it. The gameplay was engaging and not too difficult. Great work by the team.

In the lands of EVIL by ShaubbyPlayz 2020-10-13T11:55:16Z

Good job with this entry. It was an enjoyable play through. I really thought the loop would be repeating the first level, but seeing the variation added in was a nice touch.

Torus by APG 2020-10-10T03:31:48Z

Good take on the theme. There were a couple occasions where I died as soon as the game started. It would be good to make sure the bugs are not too close to the player at the beginning of the game. It took me about 10 tries to get all 3 pillars. Good job with the submission.

SYNTH WIZARD by Votron 2020-10-13T11:28:57Z

This was a great game. One of the most enjoyable I have played this competition. Discovering I could stack items was a major game changer. I will say the last level music was very somber and did not match the mood of the rest of the game. Not sure if that was on purpose or not, but overall this was highly enjoyable.

Ufomen Ride Again by Samps 2020-10-13T10:32:20Z

Great game. I really enjoy these gravity puzzles. Making the ship and reset button a little more obvious would have cleared up some initial confusion I had, but overall this was an extremely fun game.

Dryad's Quest by Cyborg Studio 2020-10-13T10:41:32Z

The retro artwork and music were really well executed. Gives a real nostalgic feeling. The hitbox on the plants felt too small. It was hard to really tell if I was clicking in the right spot for them.

Looped by Leo Red 2020-10-13T11:12:30Z

Good take on the theme. The difficulty ramp seemed a little too high. A slower start would allow a player to get more engaged at the beginning.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Challenger SUB by digitaldude555 2021-04-27T11:06:13Z

The gameplay was good, and my best dive was 805 meters. I kept getting stuck at the top and was unable to move. Regardless I was still able to shoot, but I couldn't avoid the depth charges falling from above.

Shatter Blocks by Avi 2021-04-26T11:29:44Z

I enjoyed this game. It took a few tries to get used to the mechanics. I would recommend having the first couple levels be prebuilt easier layouts while the player familiarizes themselves with the mechanics. My first couple attempts started with bullets being immediately shot at me. Also having the difficulty increase by having enemies only shoot in a straight line, and then progressing to the tracking bullets in more difficult levels.

Shatter Blocks by Avi 2021-04-27T11:27:15Z

@avi I noticed the bar quickly, but it would help if it was a little bigger to stand out more. It took a few tries before I noticed bar would slightly change colors when it was depleted. Making the bar go red may have helped it be more obvious.

Moley Maze by tigerj 2021-04-27T11:39:44Z

@tigerj I always enjoy playing your submissions. Y'all did a great job with the artwork and music. It would have been nice if there was a way to regenerate hearts.

ATOM by cyriaque 2021-04-26T11:19:58Z

Really enjoyed the concept, but the movement system/physics were a challenge to overcome. I ended up getting stuck below the level when I fell through one of the doors.

I would definitely enjoy a more polished version of this game.

Deep Mind by JRevel 2021-04-27T11:24:25Z

I really like your interpretation of the theme. The gameplay was fun, but one improvement I think that would really help is if you labeled what type of card each slot required. I know you can hover over the slot to find out, but eventually it is impossible to read it before the black dots reach the slot.

I have never played the Cultist Simulator, but I really enjoyed the concept of managing your player's mood by using different cards. I would enjoy a more flushed out version of this game.

Dr.Daker's Deep Diving Discovery by andy593 2021-05-15T11:30:34Z

This was a great entry. Had a lot of fun playing it. The options in the store added a lot of depth to the game, and added a splash of humor. The pricing and balanced felt really good. The audio worked well for me (Chrome). The only thing I had trouble with was the last boss fight. It was hard to see what was going on with the black on black color scheme. Also I really liked the option included in the store to unlock everything for people who are on a time crunch. I will have to look at incorporating that into my next jam game.

LD49 — Unstable

Rival Sniper by Hjalte 2021-10-17T20:28:25Z

This was a well crafted game. It is a shame you couldn't find a way to tie in the theme, but regardless it was fun to play. The graphical style was well done, and the mechanics were easy to understand. You did a great job adding additional information as the player progressed through the levels.

Rolling Tower Clash by quadtree 2021-10-17T20:41:01Z

This was a fun game to play. It was satisfying making my robot hop up and punching the opponent in the head. Getting an KO hit like that felt great. The controls were a little difficult. It felt like there was no way to recover once your bot started to tip.

L.A.G. - Looking after my ghost by Sashify 2021-10-04T14:56:05Z

I struggled to beat this. The stoplights at the top were not intuitive. The lag did not seem consistent with the numbers/colors on the UI. Maybe some additional information in the description would help clear up the confusion.

I also managed to get partially through the level before realizing I couldn't die and my ghost wasn't with me. It required reloading the game to get it working again.

L.A.G. - Looking after my ghost by Sashify 2021-10-04T15:42:54Z

@herlex That information helped a lot. I got separated from the ghost and so I thought I was unable to die (also could not go back due to 1-way doors). I did manage to beat the game in ~20 minutes. I would recommend a couple more checkpoints. Some of the sequences were brutal to need to repeat constantly. The 4 lasers followed by the bridge followed by the turret traps was brutal.

The lag was a great concept for the theme, but I felt like the lag was too inconsistent which added some frustration beating some of the obstacles. For example I would move through a section without stopping and the ghost would just randomly stop in the middle of the path.

The Train Station Mage by Togis 2021-10-18T13:05:34Z

Wow I was terrible at this. Enjoyed the concept, but I could not get the cargo loaded properly. Really enjoyed the voice acting. Not something you see in a lot of entries. Great job.

On the Thin Ice by agrdev 2021-10-18T02:33:36Z

Really enjoyed this game. The execution with the trigger pressure was well done. I wasn't able to get all the way across the map, but trying to run from the hunter while staying calm with the trigger kept it entertaining. It would have been cool if as the hunter gets closer you provided some visual cues such as the ice at the bottom of the screen starting to crack.

A puzzle with a cube and lazers by A.Bond 2021-10-14T17:27:00Z

Really enjoyed this puzzle game. It was well done, and the animations you added was a graphical upgrade from only using primitives.

Unstable Revisions by ytaha 2021-10-14T19:25:23Z

This was a fantastic game! The polish on this combined with how well the game mechanics worked was perfect.

Sitter by NoahRo 2021-10-21T19:11:35Z

That was an interesting experience haha. Not sure if there was an actual end state other than the patient dying. That is all I succeeded in doing haha.

Surgeon Rush by erkerkiii 2021-10-21T18:47:12Z

Congrats to both of you on the first Jam completion. It was a little unclear what I was doing at first, but it was straight forward enough to figure it out. Including some instructions next time will help.

Tower Construction by VVatashi 2021-10-17T20:12:07Z

Interesting idea. The lack of a real goal takes away from the experience. Having a target height with a limited number of blocks would allow for multiple levels to be included. The slow speed of the crane also made it a little dull.

I can definitely see potential with this concept. I think just one or two tweaks would go a long way.

Volcano BoB by obscure 2021-10-21T19:01:34Z

Great entry. The sound effects were great. Was enjoyable to play, but that screen shake is real near the end haha.

The Nine Pillars by MKRaw 2021-10-04T15:07:54Z

This is an excellent entry! It is very simplistic but engaging. The artwork, text, and music really set the mood extremely well. I managed to beat this in 143 seconds on my second playthrough. I also enjoyed the small details you added like the subtle animation when the pillar is fully set.

Keep up the great work!

Libra City by djee 2021-10-21T18:55:08Z

This was a fun short game. Would have enjoyed an additional couple levels.

Bob's Underworld by chesschaser 2021-10-04T14:34:21Z

Really enjoyed playing this. The music and art were very well done.

I was in the middle of a big jump across the screen and got DESTROYED by a falling boulder. Talk about bad timing haha. It would be nice if there was an on screen warning to where the boulders would fall, but there is never enough time to implement everything.

Great entry!

UnStabled by Zackavelli 2021-10-18T13:12:12Z

Really enjoyed this game. I was worried by the wall of text at the beginning, but the game was easy to understand once I started playing. The audio adds a lot to the mood of the game. Great job.

Incomplete Horse Nonsense by Harrison Dunn 2021-10-18T12:59:07Z

I enjoyed playing this. The controls felt good and the sound effects were a nice touch. It's not often a working pause menu is included in entries so that is great. I really enjoyed the noises in the silly mode.

Great job on picking your theme by the way. Very ingenious.

Balance of Power by Genteel 2021-10-18T02:45:54Z

I like the idea. A few more levels would have added a lot to the experience. As others have mentioned the character controller was problematic. One thing which can help is using physics materials to reduce the friction on the side of objects and your character to 0.

UNSTABLE GROUNDS by Voodoo51 2021-10-17T19:20:33Z

I really enjoyed this game. The artwork looks great. As others have mentioned it took a little while to figure out how to progress. I could see this concept being flushed out as a turn based strategy game. After each move the corruption can tick and the player can weigh the best placement of their next building/action.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Dreaming Bot by Genpaku 2022-10-21T14:05:08Z

Great gameplay and integration of the 10 second theme. I really like the robot character and the animation for when hold the items. The pickup/drop of zones seemed very restricted. Making it more forgiving would make the play experience better.

Factory Manager Hero by mstrp 2022-10-21T12:26:28Z

Enjoyed the gameplay and aesthetics. As others mentioned some better instructions would have helped. 2 things I would improve: Make the letters on the boxes limited to only the left hand side of a qwerty keyboard to limit players having to move their hands so much, and add a visual feedback when the player hits the right button.

Legend of the Broken Wand by thx4nothing 2022-10-08T01:12:23Z

Good entry. I had trouble getting the shrink spell and trample to work correctly, but I managed a score of 257. Was enjoyable to play for a few rounds.

Shifting Dungeons by APG 2022-10-21T15:01:20Z

The mood was well set with the sound and music, shame it can't be rated. The game play was well done. The integration of the theme was well done as well. Good entry.

DUNES RIDER by Clément K 2022-10-21T13:49:39Z

Fun quick game. The meters felt like they decreased a little too quickly. As others mentioned some additional feedback would be nice. Great job for the 48 hours.

What is that sound? (Repeating every 10th second) by airwaffle 2022-10-21T12:14:26Z

Nice entry. It can be difficult to get people engaged in a text based jam game, but the story was short enough for the format. The input recognition worked very well for the limited development time frame.

J-Menuing by nyxkn 2022-10-05T01:59:58Z

Really enjoyed this game. The theme was well implemented in the gameplay. The music was great. I am always amazed at how people can get music included in such a short time. A couple of areas of improvement would be 1) attack order shuffling mid attack was frustrating. As a player it feels un-fair when that occurs and breaks the flow of fun. 2) Adding some visual feedback (juice) would have gone a long way to add a greater satisfaction when killing the enemy.

Overall I really enjoyed this and am impressed with what you were able to accomplish in the 48 hours.

Bobo's Happiness Factory by DzejPi 2022-10-08T01:50:23Z

Super enjoyable! I love the in game messages that would pop up. Got hard to read near the end, but it was nice to see. Awesome you fit a tutorial so well into your entry. The pacing was good as well. After the first rush you had a nice slowdown and followed by another rush. The game mechanic was so simple but engaging. Made for a very enjoyable experience.

Foodmnesia by naplz 2022-10-21T21:23:47Z

The player controller was really difficult to get a grasp of. It was particularly difficult around corners. Other than that I thought the concept was well done. The level of polish on your menu screen was superb.

10 Second Apocalypse by TexelProto 2022-10-21T14:14:28Z

Great job for a game jam entry! I am amazed at how much you managed to fit in for such a tight time limit. It can always be tough to not bite off too much for a jam game. I can't wait to see what you do next time.

Turnip Terrace by Jonah_SRG 2022-10-21T15:11:50Z

Enjoyable game with a great visual aesthetic. The pacing was a little too fast. Felt like there was not much in terms of interesting decisions. I kept just following the same sequence, and did not see any benefits to changing it up.

Double-sided princess by AL43868 2022-10-21T14:23:22Z

Nice entry. I wasn't able to get to the 5 minute target, but I still enjoyed the entry. I noticed after game over I could pause and unpause the game and continue playing. I'm guessing you are changing the time scale and not checking player health when resuming.

Maudits Fantômes / Cursed Ghosts by Mossieur Patate 2022-10-21T14:35:13Z

I love the twist on Pac-Man. The integration of the theme was perfect. Great job including accessibility features. I only had time to play the compo version, but overall I found it to be very entertaining. Some feedback when the ghost is eaten would be nice. Sometimes it was not immediately obvious if it was the right match.

Tower Boy by Chuckiee 2022-10-08T01:35:23Z

I love inspiration and the style in your game. I saw similar issues as others have mentioned, but overall it was still enjoyable. A couple of areas of improvemnt would be a health indicator (I didn't notice one) and some visual feedback when an enemy is killed.

A Song of Red and Blue (and Green) by Squarefox 2022-10-21T21:31:49Z

The visual look of the marbles and the reflections were great. It was slightly frustrating to have such an unpredictable bounce for the blue marble. It would have been more engaging to have a more limited angle it could reflect at. Having it bounce directly back from the direction it was traveling was hard to anticipate. I know this would make the game easier so over time increasing the speed of the blue ball could have provided a difficulty ramp.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Daunting Dungeon by Jiri_One 2018-04-27T13:36:21Z

Fun game, but as mentioned by others you can die due to a random enemy spawn. It would be nice if there was a slight no spawn zone around the player.

a new day dawns by Ovidios 2018-04-27T19:26:07Z

Wow! This game was incredibly fun.

Please make an Android build. I would love to download this on my phone.

A feature that would be nice is the ability to target an enemy. There were a few instances of an enemy slipping by due to the auto aim focusing elsewhere.

Neural Network Ratatouille by polegar 2018-04-24T22:56:19Z

What a unique mechanic! Really impressive and it works well given the limited time constraint. The movement was hard to get precise so avoiding the traps was difficult at times.

To help players get used to the mechanic you could start them off in a room with just a piece of cheese, and then move them into the room with traps and cheese. I killed myself a couple of times at the very start and had to redo the setup process each time.

Super Bass Racing by isaaclopinho 2018-04-26T02:10:37Z

Wow! Racing and fishing combined with a perfect theme. The music was great within the game. Really helps set the mood of the game.

Great entry!

Cun & Gun by Evan Polekoff 2018-04-27T02:23:35Z

Fun party game! I saw your bug fix mentioned locking the mouse, but it did not appear to work (playing in Google Chrome).

Outside of that it was a really fun game.

Interaural Differences by paulturowski 2018-04-28T14:55:48Z

Congratulations on completing your first LD!

Echoing what was previously stated, I had a hard time understanding the objective. However I did managed to get to the third level. From there I could not figure out how to hit the two cylinders.

Neat idea to have the music volume tied to the fire distance. The third level sound clip was a little abrasive.

I discovered the different colors would send you to different (mirrored?) levels. I like this as a way to give the player the ability for unique experiences on each play through.

Rock Reach Flag by willowblade 2018-04-24T23:10:23Z

Love the turn based mechanic; however, whenever I tried to use the Wait option I would be sent to the main menu. To get around this I needed to perform small movements to pass time.

The art style fit the game perfectly. It reminds me of a lot of the old flash games found online. The text was a little hard to read.

Rock Reach Flag by willowblade 2018-04-24T23:35:41Z

@willowblade No offense intended! I can't write worth a darn.

The "crash" occurs every time I click wait. I went back and checked and it only occurs if I wait for 1.0s or less. Anything 1.2s and above works as intended. If it helps I am playing it in the browser.

Rock Reach Flag by willowblade 2018-04-26T01:01:42Z

Think Before Escape by acoto87 2018-04-26T02:59:33Z

Great game! The turn based mechanic was a really great combo with platformer.

Some of the jumps were difficult to make, and needing to wait several turns for platforms to line up was annoying.

LeChaudron by Jajakeim 2018-04-28T12:15:21Z

Great game! You did a great job of combining these genres.

It would be nice if you could throw a knife at the chopped ingredients to prevent them from going in the pot.

Chord Run by saturn007 2018-04-26T01:15:15Z

Good job on the difficulty curve as I think it was set to a good pace.

Echoing what was previously said, when you reset there is very little time to react. A slight pause to give the player more time to orient themselves would help.

S.M.A.R.T. by FussenKuh 2018-04-24T23:31:17Z

Great game! Showed an elementary school teacher and this is the type of thing they would use with their students.

The only piece I think is missing is the lack of race feeling. As you get closer to the finish there should be something to make it more exciting. Maybe after each lap you add a row of cards to increase the difficulty.

World Bender by aplite 2018-04-26T00:58:10Z

@Apples-mmmmmmmm @Dixonary @willowblade @polegar Thank you all for the feedback! The controller was not working as intended in 2D. Turns out the command to zero out the velocity was commented out. OOPS!

I uncommented it if you would like to give it another try.

World Bender by aplite 2018-04-27T02:28:32Z

@Nick-Rafalski Thanks! I have been researching a lot on game/level design, and was careful of how I progressed the difficulty. Very happy that you noticed.

@TheMonsterFromTheDeep Thanks for the feedback. Definitely need to work on a better player controller. I can understand the frustration of falling off due to the slippery controls when you reach the higher platforms.

Blitzingo by spthiel 2018-04-27T14:03:47Z

What a fun game! It would be great if the "timer" around the boxes was a little more evident (maybe a more contrasting color).

I think this could be a great mobile game.

Racing Defender by nicksmaddog 2018-04-26T01:39:06Z

Fun concept. Definitely not a game combo I would have expected to work so well together.

I encountered the same issue as @morphine, and my car also would turn constantly in some playthroughs. Not sure what would cause it, but if that was fixed this would be a fun game to try for the long haul.

Racing Defender by nicksmaddog 2018-04-26T12:51:27Z

@nicksmaddog Yes. I am playing it in Google Chrome.

I bet that your CATS look good in the dance floor by agar3s 2018-04-26T01:55:37Z

Fun mechanic. I love these types of games. The bright colors did get a little difficult to stare at for long, but otherwise I really enjoyed timing the clicks to place the cards.

Golden Beak Golf by McCordinator 2018-04-27T13:45:08Z

Neat game. Could be great as a mobile game since you can do each action with only one button.

The gap is very small to fly through, which makes it difficult from the start. If you started with larger gaps and had it shrink the further you go it might give a better feel to the game.

Birdy by HagamosVideojuegos 2018-04-28T11:38:38Z

Great game! Great job with the level designs and difficulty progression.

Brute Force Art Defence by Shellfish Games 2018-04-28T13:20:20Z

Love the concept. Really cool how you could see the canvases which got through.
