Couldn't get the HTML5 version to work, just a black screen. I think you may have missed the part where you have to zip up the web files it spews out :)
Fun game though, glad to see more people using Godot :)

Good idea. And yea we all know the time problem - happened to me as well :) Html5 didn not work either - maybe you can check that.
loved the opening of the game. A good version of the theme
Web Version worked for me. And i love the freakish character design.
Hey, the opening scene with our creature appearing and eating the first three flowers was great! I would like to see more gameplay in the main part, since it's lacking.
I played the HTML5 version and it worked fine in Chrome. Nice straightforward gameplay & I love the visual style of those characters. :)
A nice entry! I love the intro, breaking out of the egg and having controls slowly enable. That's a great feature. The sfx is good and create a light mood as well as the physic engine that make you feel very light. Maybe some sprite height adjustment when you jump ( crouching and extending) and land ( dampening ) would make it a bit more grounded.
Nice platformer game and doing it within 48 hours without any help from others is really a great thing.
I played the HTML version and worked just fine (Firefox). It is a very basic game but very impressive for a solo work in 48 hours! And I really enjoyed the beginning, when the character and bits of the world appear out of nothing.
Platforming feels good, I like the transistions. More levels would be cool.
So i tested the HTML version and it run just fine (Chrome). Thanks for having one, it really easy up the process of playing and rating the games, and probably would drive more players to play your game due to avaibility.
The concept is very simple but it makes the game easy to understand, so it's a good thing. I liked the whole have to get out of the box to start playing, but find the game almost too easy. The sounds are funny.
I guess something like the scenario coming up and you have to keep up eating and not dying would increase the replayability of the game, but this is a jam and the time constraints are really cruel.
Congrats on finishing your second jam!
Playing your game made me smile  The art was very charming. I love my little monster box. From what I can tell, I hatch from an egg? I love the idea that I'm given control while I'm still in the egg. That's a pretty novel idea I think. Now that I think about it, the expanding field of vision was a way of communicating the feeling of hatching from an egg. I love it! Excited to see what you make next
@ch4oticau @ilikescifi Thank you so much for the feedback! Afterwards, I tried again and zipped up the files and got it working :D
@alexandroskap @charliegray @suchista @garygreen @sai-vivek-amirishetty @fabula-rasa @selftitled Thank you very much for playing the game! Really happy that it was an enjoyable experience :D
@selftitled @derek-volker Thanks a lot for the feedback. I spend way too much time on the first 2 parts of the game (hatching and animations). Honestly I added the enemies 4 hours before the deadline. 1 Hour before the deadline I added the win state reaching 100 health and then I rushed to get the game published. :D
@dhim Thanks a lot! Part of the reason for the simple controls is that I wanted the game to be a way for my niece to understand how to use the arrow keys :D.
@turncoda Yes, the idea is that the player / monster hatches from an egg. As it grows it can see and do more. I made it a square as I was not sure if I would be able to get the collisions to work later on. Also thanks for showing that its possible to port an SDL2 game to the web (I looked at your source code :D)! Thank you all for the feedback!!! Hopefully this year IF I have time, I will think I will make a more expanded game based on this.
Simple = Fun
Nice simple game, congrats on creating something for the compo!
@axkarth @stolen-biscuit Thank you very much!
I tried playing the web version but I think there is a scaling error. gamereview.JPG
@sanjana ahh thank you. Not sure why this is happening... Probably because I set the game window screen size to 1600 by 900 pixels and based everything around that screen size. Not something more web friendly.
@zerohbeat if you can get it fixed, just tag me in the comments and i'll come play again
@sanjana thank you very much for pointing this out. I tried the game on multiple monitors and set the game to run in full screen (even if stuff is visible that shouldn't be :D ). Hopefully this way the game will work as intended for most people.
@zerohbeat It worked! I still wasn't able to see the bottom of the screen but I was able to play the game. I really like it and would definitely enjoy it more if there are more levels.
The intro was a really nice addition setting up the feel of the game.
It's nice and short. The guy at the beginning is real creepy, but evolves into something p cute :D
I enjoyed the intro a lot! Nice little game. Keep it up!
fun little game, web version worked for me
congrats on getting it done! I liked that the level was revealed gradually, this introduced a short but effective tutorial.
I didn't really understand how to play, and after a few tries, still couldn't get into the swing of it unfortunately.
@jesterseraph Hi, thanks for the feedback and trying the game. I really did not communicate that part very well with one sentence that disappears really fast. The idea initially is to press left arrow key and right arrow key repeatedly one after another.
Hi, neat little game, thanks for making it! I initially thought it was broken because I didn't understand the intro at first, but on my second go I pressed the buttons enough to start seeing the "breaking out of its egg" animation, which led me to play the rest! Yay! :)
web version worked very well, the beginning is a great scene, too bad its so short :(
@omaskery Thank you very much for sticking with the game and giving it a chance. Next time, I will try to have more clear instructions / tutorials :) (not add a sentence at the last minute :D ) Probably images or some kind of animation will be a much more intuitive :D
@mikouaji Thank you! Hopefully I will make a longer version of this someday soon :D
So, I ran your game, played for like 1 or 2 minutes and won. I totally understand the time problem, but I believe you could have use the time you had in a better way. Instead of having some tutorial that does not require to be this long since there are not tons of mechanics, why didn't you work on a better platforming system ? Double jump, moving platforms, etc. that would have make the game more fun ? And maybe make the player slower or jump with less height when he is low on health, which would force the player to find a strategy to reach all flowers?
However, you got it done, and that is a very great point. Good job!
@saering Thank you! I really agree with what you said. I did not use my time efficiently at all :D I even redid the animations 2/3 times, wasting 4/5 hours of precious time.
One of my ideas was for the platforms to start moving at some point. If I could do it all again, I would focus first on the main game loop (and the harder parts first) and go backwards. I added the enimies at the very end and the flowers. In the last 2 hours, I added the win condition (as I didnt know what else I could do)
Really happy that I learned alot about the Godot game engine and submited the game :D
Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare. Welcome to the addiction! I really liked the way this game started. It was confusing, but intriguing at the same time. Hope to see you again in future LDs!
Good idea, I won :D with more time I think it would have been better :) Animations are funny
This was great! I loved all the animations, and the bizarre mood of this game was very enjoyable. I think you could expand this into a level-based game since the controls were very smooth. Nice one!
Nice game. I like the look of the characters. It would be great if you expanded it as a post LD project. I had fun. Good job!
Congrats on finishing your first LD! Good take on the theme, but I never felt like there was a risk of dying. I really like the way you start off the game. Starting from an egg and progressing to the 3 flowers and beyond offers a feeling of progression which can be hard in a short game jam.
I know people often run into time constraints, but having the health go down quicker and re-spawning the flowers would offer more of a challenge.
@jharler @ommadawn @digitallimestone @digitallimestone @convg @aplite
Thank you very much! It really means alot! I am really considering expanding the game and making it a proper project: A more interesting map with different enemies and more evolutions for the playable moster / creature.
Really enjoyed making the game :D
Awesome, I really enjoyed playing it.
Congratulations on your first LD! I liked the way the game started, teaching controls and objective (get the flowers). I feel it would be good to have some kind of an enemy or a risk of dying by falling down to increase the challenge
The idea is here and work realluy well ! I would have love to see just one more "evolutionnary step" just to eat the other creature, but the game is already a lot for a compo game !
What a weird game hehe! Interesting but a bit too short.
Overall, congratulations and well done!
@kaeveris Thank you very much! I realised way too late that the game may become way too easy / not challenging enough. Hopefully next time I do a better job :D
@ribout-horace Thank you very much! I am really considering making a larger version of this with more evolutions. Plus maybe having the player choose which evolution they want.
@marcusnystrand Thank you very much! Thanks for liking it! Hopefully next time, I can make something a bit longer :D hehe
Nice game, simple but working entirely so good job ! The sound of eating was really good x) (be careful, at the end of the game I had time to jump off the right side of the screen before the game reload ;) )
@haoro Thank you very much! Ohh I didn't know it was possible to jump off the right side! I realise that the HTML version is a bit off ( probably the windows version too ).... hopefully next time I will playtest the game before publishing it :D
Quite short and too easy platformer game. It could be more challenging. No issues in game mechanics. I think animations of characters are self-made and nice. :)
@marot Thanks alot! Yeah, I spend way too much time on the animations. Should have spent more time on the actual game hehe :D
Not much game play substance but it got a beginning, some element of progression and an end, so that's that :) That's quite neat for a compo I'd say. The presentation was pretty rough but the controls worked quite well and I liked the stages of the monster and how it became more powerful in time. It didn't seem like the enemies were doing anything though. Also, I couldn't quite find a connection to the theme. Music would've been nice, but I guess the time spent was better used on game play implementation. The core loop wasn't really a fun experience since the whole game more less felt like a rough prototype of a game. Hope you can deliver a more rounded and polished experience next time. Cheers!
@duke Thank you very much for the feedback! I really agree! Initially, my idea was that the monster would need to be fed to live....but that didn't work out the way I saw it in my head hehe.....Next time I will try to focus more on the gameplay (and try to add some music) for a more complete experience :D
The art is weird but in a good meaning  These insane faces have some potential to become new memes, sir! shot_134.png
Cool idea about scratching the shell in the beginning.
@room606 Wow, Thank you!!! Glad that you enjoyed my awful (in a good way I guess :D ) first attempts at animating something :D
