I like games with rocks in them!

mikedirl 2018-04-23 21:17

I loved the art style of your game, reminded my of that minute physics youtube channel. I did find the game very difficult, took me a long time to make any progress, but it was a good challenge.

willowblade 2018-04-24 14:33

Thanks! Observing friends play, for some it clicks, others have a harder time, I'm glad you were able to finish it regardless. So I just discovered minutephysics, and I see what you mean! For me it's more reminiscent of Line Rider ^^

aplite 2018-04-24 23:10

Love the turn based mechanic; however, whenever I tried to use the Wait option I would be sent to the main menu. To get around this I needed to perform small movements to pass time.

The art style fit the game perfectly. It reminds me of a lot of the old flash games found online. The text was a little hard to read.

jezpez 2018-04-24 23:11

Cool idea! Hard to do without the enemy paths being drawn in the 'pause' mode. Not sure if there's a move limit but sometimes I was pushed back to the start after a move completed without knowing why.

willowblade 2018-04-24 23:11

@aplite Thanks for the kind words (and offending my handwriting)! Where did you experience the wait crashing you?

willowblade 2018-04-24 23:14

@JezPez I think it's because physics may still be broken in the web build, are you on Firefox? Don't forget to enjoy the replays guys

incobalt 2018-04-24 23:16

The text was very hard to read, but it was a fun game. I liked having the replay at the end of a level. There are some problems with clicking and I'm glad you put wait on the menu because my touch pad doesn't register a mousewheel when I scroll with it.

seurimas 2018-04-24 23:18

Love the genre mash up. Turned based platformer done pretty well. However, I couldn't get past the first level :( Is game over delayed? I seem to hit something I shouldn't and only lose after getting to some other arbitrary point.

siuler-lm 2018-04-24 23:19

I liked the idea. Despite the graphics are simple, they are clear and quite good for this game purpose (the bats are cool). Hope you can do new levels for it in the future :)

willowblade 2018-04-24 23:19

@incobalt Thanks! I'll take more care with my handwriting next time , and look into how to register touchpad scroll events!

willowblade 2018-04-24 23:21

@seurimas Thanks! Try downloading a desktop version, that should have stable physics, or try to play in Chrome? What browser are you currently playing in?

@Siuler LM I actually got a few of my IRL friends requesting more levels and made one with a colleague for lunch break today. I'd love to, so you can follow my page on itch for updates?

aplite 2018-04-24 23:35

@willowblade No offense intended! I can't write worth a darn.

The "crash" occurs every time I click wait. I went back and checked and it only occurs if I wait for 1.0s or less. Anything 1.2s and above works as intended. If it helps I am playing it in the browser.

willowblade 2018-04-24 23:38

@aplite What browser? I wish threads were a thing in these comment sections.

omnipotentindie 2018-04-25 01:31

Really liked the concept, creative idea. Wen't a bit slow, but overall well made

incobalt 2018-04-25 01:37

@aplite @willowblade I experienced the same thing in the tutorial (Chrome for me). I had just thought that the tutorial ended early for some reason.

colin-misbach 2018-04-25 01:59

I think there were a few bugs here and there, but it didn't bother me too much. My only real complaint is not having an easier way to select which action I want to do. I wish there were hotkeys or something easier than clicking a small little button. (maybe there was something and I just missed it). Also music and SFX would help.

The level design was great, the graphics were fine, the concept was cool (not really sure how it fits with the theme though), and everything played very smoothly.

Nice work!

silvae 2018-04-25 02:36

I love how literal the name is haha. I enjoyed the gameplay but kept having issues with the game exiting in Chrome. Nice work!

acoto87 2018-04-25 02:42

Good job. My game is similar but not with simultaneosly movement. The concept is pretty interesting as can lead to really cool puzzles. The replay feature is really really interesting, you can se the whole realtime playthough of the level, mostly because as a player, when solving the level, you only see the level one step at a time, and see the realtime version is very cool.

For some reason I ran into a bug in Level 2, where when I jump to a platform, the rock only stop at the initial position of the platform and not a little up since the platform already have moved. I played in Chrome. It did happen again when I refreshed the browser.

Nice job!

baby-dino-herd 2018-04-25 02:51

Well done! Graphics are clear and effective, and I think you really achieved "Frozen Synapse as platformer." The replay function is really impressive for such a short time. I had a lot of fun, but the variable length of turns means that just taking small moves when you need to becomes the best option.

radmccool 2018-04-25 02:56

nice, nothing new to add really. some sounds would me nice and maybe some indication of where everything else is going to move.

svyatozar 2018-04-25 07:18

A totally playable game, needs better graphics and a more convenient action selection mechanism.

notpresident35 2018-04-25 15:02

Good job! I love the execution on the genre combination! The art is pretty good too, and the puzzles are fun, although I wish there were more. I also wish you had sound. Sitting in silence isn't as fun.

Good job, and good luck!

lewis-quaife 2018-04-25 18:07

Neat game - killed myself with the rock a few time lol. Also, the handwritten instructions are difficult to read.

aplite 2018-04-26 01:01

@willowblade Google Chrome Version 65.0.3325.181

willowblade 2018-04-29 12:34

@aplite The wait issue is so strange, I can't even imagine what's causing it! There are other issues in Chrome where it supposedly acts like the escape key is pressed, pretty annoying. I hope the web exports in Godot become more stable in the future!

@colin-misbach the two 'incompatible genres' I tried to combine were a platformer, which is normally reaction and reflex based, with the planning and pace of something more akin to a turn-based game.

Thanks for the great feedback you all  ! Music and SFX are definitely my weakness, I've only made one game with them, hah! If I polish this up and add a few more levels, I'll work on my handwriting and the action selection UI/UX as well.

nathalia-hohl 2018-05-14 02:13

I loved that you're a rock, the turn based system and your calligraphy. Only despite being pretty it was difficult to read in the tutorial. .-. Something that annoyed me a bit was the physics. The rock will fly a quarter of the screen when walking down a ledge. Okay, it was paused from real time where the stone was in constant movement. I just though it was too much horizontal movement. I'm also quite bad, so...

About sound, I myself have to idea how to compose something and wouldn't be able to do much in a compo myself. I'm not really put out by the lack of it but still think it would be a nice addiction. Maybe not a complete composition, but how about a few some effects, maybe a cartoon like xylophone sound when the character walks? It would be funny for a rock. Just trying to give some suggestions, sorry for anything!

Overall, very nice work. Keep up making games. = ]
