Started out calm and ended up frantic. A well done game with overall ok graphics and sound. I didn't really like the "hover" to wrap input. I'd rather see a click input so that it felt a bit more "feedback-y". But non the less, a great accomplishment. Good work!

ty 2022-10-03 08:29

i love the hovering to wrap! it feels really really satisfying to just have my cursor go woop woop woop, especially as a trackpad user. (i want more hover to interact games.) really fun concept, in my opinion. got really frantic and it was fun!

gotanod 2022-10-03 11:45

I like the face of my boss before firing me xD xD Sometimes the music fits with my movements. Really nice! The important question, when I'm going to receive my wage.

Excellent mechanics. I will steal the idea for a future game ha ha ha ha ha mouse movement without clicking .. I wanted to make a swipe pattern game once and I had problems to design it. Could really have used this idea .. so needless to say that I really enjoyed your entry. You ticked high on humor, overal, fun, innovation (extra) Job well done!!!!!

pixelydian 2022-10-03 17:01

Great game idea and application of the theme! As @mdotedot said, the mouse movement without clicking is neat. I could easily see this as a mobile game with swiping. Good difficulty progression and I appreciate the tutorial! Extra props for the music score - composing anything decent while making a game in 48 hours is difficult enough, and your track fit the mood of the game perfectly. Great entry!2022-10-03 11_52_56-Bobo's Happiness Factory by dzejpi.png

flamboozle 2022-10-03 19:21

Game was funny and the wrapping mechanic was definitely new to me!

Felt a little too easy. I had fun just letting it sit after a while to see the defeat screen.

fifut 2022-10-03 19:33

321 secondes for me at first try!

It highlights the repetitive work that drives people crazy

Nothing more to say, the gameplay works perfectly

Thank you all for feedback!

@daandruff thank you for your feedback! Will try to make graphics and sounds more than OK next time! You have an interesting point with clicking input, will try to keep in mind for the next time. However, that would require to rework the game and make it slower, since I can imagine it would slow wrapping down. Thank you for your feedback again! Rated your game back!

@ty thank you for your comment! Ah, so I am not the only one who played on trackpad. :) Glad you liked the wrapping! And you’re right, it is kinda hectic; unlike your game, which is relaxing and I rated it back!

@gotanod thank your for your feedback! Not sure when Bobo decides to send your money, but I know when you are going to receive a rating from me — unfortunately on weekend, since I am on Mac now and won’t have access to Windows machine until weekend. Don’t worry, I won’t forget! :)

@mdotedot thank you for the feedback! Glad you like the mechanics; feel free to steal them. :) I wanted to make wrapping points "float around" to make it slightly more challenging, but I didn’t have time to implement it. Rated your game back!

@pixelydian thank you for your rating! This could totally work on phone, I will consider it after rating ends. Should be easy enough with Godot! Glad you liked the music; but your is infinitely better. :) I wasn’t super sure about it and I even considered setting it as off by default, haha. It was going back to roots moment for me, since I used Ableton again after like 7 years of not using it. I really tried to like FL Studio, but I can’t. Thank you again, rated your game back!

@flamboozle thank you for your feedback. It’s true that it’s not super challenging at the beginning, but I made sure it doesn’t stay that way forever. :) Rated your game back!

@fifut thank you for your comment! It gets repetitive, that’s for sure; would drive me crazy to do it for 8 hours. :) I already rated your game, it was an awesome one. Thank you again!

Nice mechanics, pretty polished experience for an LD game, well done.

ex3d0 2022-10-04 10:34

Super fun entry! The sprites while simple are really well done. I really like the music track (it fits the more frantic pace of the late game perfectly) and the sound effects fit the game really well (I like the fact that the more expensive items have a harsher sound when they get broken, it adds a really subtle level of detail), the difficulty curve ramps up at a really fair speed.

I also think I have the new high score :) Screenshot 2022-10-04 063259.png

eugenik 2022-10-04 11:51

Very good mood, love the atmosphere and clever gameplay.

ilari 2022-10-04 18:43

Simple yet effective! Liked a lot.

dzejpi 2022-10-04 20:06

@elysiagriffin and thank you for playing it! Rated your game too and see you next LD!

@dr-v thank you for the comment! Rated your game back. :)

@ex3d0 thank you for your feedback! That indeed looks like a high score! Congratulations! Suprised you liked the music; I am not super happy with it, so I am glad someone actually thinks it’s alright. :D Not better than yours though! Rated your game back. :)

@eugenik & @ilari thank you for your comments! I will rate your games on weekend, since I am stuck on Mac now, but I should have access to Windows machine on the weekend. I will not forget, I promise. :)

cogcomp 2022-10-05 17:39

Wow that was hectic. I think I would prefer this on a touch screen. The idea was nice and novel and the game was very well balanced. It it had been harder I would've given up but this just kept me playing for quite some time which made me quite committed to getting better at it. Well done!

dzejpi 2022-10-05 17:57

@cogcomp glad you kept until the very end, Bobo appreciates hard workers! I will consider the touch screen support once the Compo rating period ends, thank you for this feedback! I rated your game back. :)

lesinvisible 2022-10-05 18:23

This game looks so polished and I loved the basic wrapping mechanic. Also think that the game may pick it's pase a bit faster to keep you excited from the start.

dzejpi 2022-10-05 18:46

@lesinvisible thank you for your feedback! You’re totally right that it could be a little bit faster at the beginning. :) Rated your game back, it was awesome!

cafebeef 2022-10-06 02:37

This was a great game! I thought the pace was just right. It got a bit repetitive towards the end (but I take it that's kind of the point :) ). I really liked the attention to detail with how the items get smaller when they fall off the conveyor belt.

projectcolorball 2022-10-06 03:15

asda.JPG nice game!feels really overwhelmed and intense!(rate back plz?)

dzejpi 2022-10-06 16:29

@cafebeef thank you for your feedback! Glad you liked the items falling off the conveyor belts. I was actually planning to implement some breaking mechanics which would make it look much better, but I didn’t have time for it. Rated your game back. :)

@projectcolorball thank you for your comment and for sharing your score! Rated your game back. :)

chase-of-bass 2022-10-06 19:54

Really liked how you made the wrapping movements the same so it felt routine -really felt like getting used to the wrapping job xD Very fun to keep up with -cool idea and really liked the dialogue too lol xD Awesome work on this!! :D

dzejpi 2022-10-06 20:51

@chase-of-bass thank you for your comment! It really becomes a routine after a while, even though I always seem to be hitting wrong point once in a while. Glad you liked the dialogue! Rated your game back; it was amazing. :)

jamdong15 2022-10-07 04:22

Wow, this game was so cool. I think the wrapping mechanic was pretty interesting; I actually discovered after a while that it's easier to do with my trackpad, haha! It was also so creepy (in a good way) to see the clown's face go from happy to angry; I was half expecting some super creepy / scary jumpscare to happen when I lost. In that way, I think the mood was really awesome.

My only piece of feedback: Because I was so focused on not pissing off the clown, I didn't end up looking at any of the dialogue; my eyes were primarily focused in the top-center of the screen because that's where the wrapping took place, and it would've taken too much time / effort to keep shifting my eyes down. To ensure that players are reading the commentary, perhaps, (1) the dialogue box could be replaced to the top-left instead (2) there could be a speech bubble above the clown's head.

In the grand scheme of things, pretty minor concerns :) Amazing game!!

Also, and I hate to do this, but I'd appreciate if you could rate my game as well! :) https://ldj.am/$303168 It's our first ever Ludum Dare, and we want to get all the feedback / ratings we can get so that we can continue to improve. Any help would be great! :)

dzejpi 2022-10-07 18:11

@jamdong15 thank you so much for your detailed feedback! Some kind of jumpscare would be definitely a great idea! That’s evil; I love it. You have a good point with dialog. Some better place would be better. Or leaving it off the game completely, I just can’t help myself. Rated your game back! :)

shibaya 2022-10-07 20:36

Love the gameplay and how wrapping works! That's a very clever game mechanic and the end result is really polished. Good job!

aplite 2022-10-08 01:50

Super enjoyable! I love the in game messages that would pop up. Got hard to read near the end, but it was nice to see. Awesome you fit a tutorial so well into your entry. The pacing was good as well. After the first rush you had a nice slowdown and followed by another rush. The game mechanic was so simple but engaging. Made for a very enjoyable experience.

commanderstitch 2022-10-08 19:37

I'm pretty sure all my horrors of packing and shipping have flooded back to me. It became a mess. I think i did alright. IWON.png

cobrajs 2022-10-09 09:25

Very cool game! Loved the nice ramp up in difficulty, though I kinda wish I had played it on a track pad because the tiny mouse movements for wrapping started to cramp up my wrist once production started to ramp up! The in-game messages were an excellent touch, as well as the clown getting angrier. Well done!!

dzejpi 2022-10-09 13:12

@shibaya thank you for your comment! Rated your game back!

@aplite thank you for your nice feedback! Glad you liked the tutorial, I was glad that the mechanics I wrote made it easy to time it well. And indeed, the rush after slowdown was the last rush to end them all. :) Rated your game back!

@commanderstitch thank you for your comment! That's a pretty good score! Rated your game back!

@cobrajs thank you for your feedback! You are bringing a very good point. I was mainly testing the gameplay on trackpad on my laptop and you're totally right that it's more challenging with mouse. Will keep in mind to playtest that in the future :) Rated your game back!

patomkin 2022-10-12 13:30

Thank you for not requiring clicks to packs those gifts - my hand is already sore from all that aggressive hovering :D productivity hack: you can start packing the item while it is still moving towards the clown! Good job on the game!

dzejpi 2022-10-12 16:23

Thank you for your feedback, @patomkin! Glad you liked the wrapping mechanics, I didn’t go for clicking exactly because of this. I will rate your game back on the weekend; I am not on Windows machine now. :)

flightless 2022-10-13 14:23

The game worked well! 125 gifts wrapped - it got real intense in the end. Innovative game mechanic with the method for wrapping!

izzet 2022-10-14 18:54

Nicely done, good theme music, I liked how the worker progressively starts frowning. Also the wrapping mechanic is quite satisfying.

dzejpi 2022-10-15 09:34

Thank you for your comments @flightless & @izzet! Glad you liked the mechanics. Rated your games back. :)

bathpirate 2022-10-19 18:44

Interesting idea! Didn't understand the controls right away, but then I got the hang of it and it all worked)

dzejpi 2022-10-20 20:13

Thank you very much @bathpirate for your comment! Glad everything worked out in the end. Rated your game back. :)
