Nice experience. It would be nice if you could use WASD for movement as well, but the loop shrinking each time an enemy gets too close is a pretty innovative mechanic!
Nice game! I liked the mechanics and the color palette feels good. A little feedback, it would be nice if it could support WASD and multiple inputs at the same time. Also, I think you are spawning the bullet from the center of the player which gives a small latency to the shots. Maybe move the spawn point on the edge of the circle? :)
It's pretty nice, colors are great, but mechanics are kinda boring, overall i liked it, GG!

Cool game, had fun playing it :v: - highscore would be nice, also WASD movement because using arrow keys + mouse is a bit uncomfy BUT anyways i like the colors you chose, smooth shooting experience, sound "ok" - overall a good game for this short period of time - like it :heart:
Fun and simple game. enjoyed it.
I like the concept, dodging and shooting with ever-less space to dodge in. The game could perhaps use a bit more polish for balancing and to make it *feel* better. In that sense, the circles hitbox (playing web version) is much larger than the actual circle, so it's impossible to tell how close enemies are actually allowed to get. Enemies could have a bit of a destroy-animation to give shooting them more impact? something like that.
Also question, you mentioned above you used KENNY ASSETS for your graphics? I don't really see anything in your game that would have benefitted much from even using an asset pack (mostly very simple shapes?), but using one technically does disqualify you from the **graphics** category, so if you did use pre-made art without significant editing, you should opt-out of that category.
@iak I only used kenny assets for the white symbol for the buttons. I don't know if it is against the rules because it is my first time.

A really good game. The loop shrinking idea was very clever. As others have said it would be nice to use WASD to move.
Nice one. As many pointed out, mechanics are not enough to be entertaining for longer time, but it's a nice shooter for first ten runs. Everything is smooth and while only a little, it feels finished. Good job.
It looks nice, the controls are smooth. It gets really hard really fast, once you're trapped in a small circle you are doomed.
I like the flat design aspect of the game. the idea is also cool and it would be great with more feedback and juiciness :)
overall it's a nice little game, well done! As other people have mentioned, WASD movement would be awesome, as would being able to hold to shoot. Good game! WASD would be better for movement with mouse as @dom-harris said, it is very intense gameplay! I survived for 3 minutes almost but damn.. However it is fun to play! Good job :smiley:

+1 on the WASD comments. also this game is really hard. having to avoid bullets from all directions without any cover, and shooting at targets approaching from all directions becoming basically as small as a bullet itself. All while being barely fast enough to dotch a bullet at short to medium distance and no diagonal movement.
However I like the visual style. Simple and flat, but the colors go well together and nicely integrated HUD/UI elements. Sound effects are fitting, some kind of fast paced music would be nice.
People have been saying it already but i'd rather use WASD to move. And the speed of the player seems a little slow to react.
I can easily see a nice skin for your game with wizards, fireballs and cute enemies !
And damn that tiny enemy is hard to hit whene you are no aligned with it

Also agree with the WASD comments. Movement also could have been a bit faster, and I like it if I can just keep the mouse button pressed to shoot. Visuals looked good though, but as others have stated, you could've juiced it up a bit (Example: give the enemies a bit of knock-back when they get shot and change their color for a short period of time)

I was a bit confused because WASD didn't work at first but got the hang of it quickly. Overall, nice and simple! Could be quite fun on mobile as well.

Really liked it. Your last life is the hardest to keep since usually I'm also in a smaller circle.
A neat idea, and the simple art style worked well! Maybe you could add some score system to the game? Also the movement and shooting could be tweaked to be a bit more responsive. But overall, nice job!

Neat game although like others have said, options between wasd and arrow keys would be nice for making it less awkward to play with a trackpad

Really enjoyed the visuals in this game, simple but pleasant. I found it quite difficult to do well at, the main aspect it was missing for me was auto-firing bullets, my index finger started to get tired! :laughing: Otherwise, well done, a fun interpretation of the theme.

I like the interpretation of the theme. The movement felt needlessy sluggish. Generally it's a good idea to support WASD movement if you're going to make use of the mouse, since it's what most people will probably be used to.
Love the aesthetics! I felt like the controls wasn't responsive enough. Would love to play with WASD. Nice simple graphics. Overall Great entry.

Nice work. WASD would be nice too and instead of the loop jumping on loosing life lerping the value would look much nicer. Add some screen shake and particle effects to increase the value of this game ten fold.

A simple but nice idea. The aesthetic is very simple but helps to focus on the main things! However it's difficult to destroy the first balls without getting touched, because of the circle's size (or maybe because I'm using a trackpad eh)

One thing I would add is diagonal movement so it feels a bit better.
Clever idea, it was cool that the loop shrunk when hit to limit the players mobility, but also gave you more time to shoot enemies. I think if the mouse is to shoot, then the wasd keys should be used for movmenet as it feels more natural to have one hand on either side rather than both to the right; alternatively, arrow keys to move and space to shoot. Good job!
Fun game, cool game mechanic
The game is okay. The sound kinda annoying but since it made by BFXR, it's understandable. Gameplay is fine, but you should have WASD as an alternative control. It's so clunky when play with mouse aand arrows. The circle is shrunked so fast that it was like the game got a lag spike. You should let the circle slowly smaller, it makes the game more comfortable to play. Anyway, congratz on the entry.
I like that cute and simple graphics. But I wish I could move faster and easy enough to beat the enemies.

A very simple idea that just works. I wasn't sure whether it was possible to complete but I had a lot of fun trying anyway! Like someone else said it could do with a more gradual difficulty increase and perhaps a few lighter tutorial/prep levels. Big possibility for this to be a popular mobile game.

Hi! I like your game and think the idea and the simple gameplay is really well done.
Love the minimal graphics and would like to see it in different forms with like zombies coming in and people shooting them.
Tiny criticism was with the controls. It felt a bit stiff when going from moving up to moving left.
But a brill idea and well done!
Fun arcade style game, with some replayability (I wanted to find out if I could 'beat it'), matches the theme well, graphics are simple but ok enough though I think if you wanted to further it it would benefit from some characterisation, also personal preference but I think this is a game which would benefit from some music or more sound effects, the sound effects as they are are fine, classic arcade game sounds, Overall though a nice simple game which is easy to play and hard to beat.
Simple but good idea. Just wish there was more to it. A scoring system and a leaderboard would be nice. Also WASD, i noticed many people also complained about that but using your left hand for the arrow keys is not pleasant.
Cool game. I liked how this is apt for the theme. The circle scaling down could have happened every time you get hit or at a slower rate. It is impossible to play once the circle reaches its last stages.
Cool little game. There a couple things you should tweak like the red loop around you gets so small it is impossible to dodge so you are just trying to get as many points before the bullets reach you. The shooting could also be limited, limit the fire rate so that you have to be a little more tactical with your movements but reduce enemies health to counter this.
Just an idea: if you make the red circle bouncy so that if the player gets too close its gets bounced back. Would make the movement more tight and the player would need to pay attention more making it more challenging :)
This was fun but it is in desperate need of a score counter!

Simple idea but had some nice "self balancing" features. As the circle around you gets smaller this makes it easier, not harder but as you shoot enemies they get smaller making them hard to hit. I found it too hard to hit some of the smallest circles however. Good work!

This game is hard! It's very fun to play but damn I'm overwhelmed very quickly! Maybe make the difficulty rise a little slower? Anyway, it's a nice little game, I especially like the presentation, it remind me of a minimalistic mobile game.
I like the asteroids but with a twist idea. The fact that your space gets smaller and makes you unable to dodge the projectiles anymore works well, I just wish there was some way to increase that space again, otherwise it's just certain death at that point. Also a timer would be cool too.

Simple but nice. Took me a bit to figure out I could move the player around, maybe a short list of hints on the start up screen would have been a good improvement. Press and hold to fire would have been a nice option as well

Fun little game, setting a good foundation. Obviously, the sound is really limited, but that's not such a big deal. The fact that the enemies shrink is cool, but they get so small that it's hard to hit them and stop them from reaching you. I think all my other complaints were already covered by other people, so good job, I like the idea. It would also be cool to have a score, or something to compare myself against.
Cool concept with simple, yet effective execution on the theme. I found the game kinda hard though, as rate of fire vs amount of balls coming in might have been balanced better, as well as added more smoothness or speed to the character, so we can swing / utilize more space in the circle itself. Good job nontheless, I have enjoyed the game!

I like the simple visual style and sound effects. And menu music was interesting, but I was missing some in-game music as well.
I don't feel like it really has a lot to do with the theme, it's more like you're stuck in a circular force field, but that's just my take :sweat_smile:
My circle shrunk a few times even though it wasn't hit by any enemy, so I guess there's some glitch there... Also I wish there was some way to make your circle larger again, otherwise you just become a sitting duck after a while.

I like how your health bar is tied to your ability to move, that's a pretty neat idea! From what I can tell though, it looks like the collision boxes of the enemies don't shrink like the rest of the sprite does? There were a couple of times where my ring shrunk unexpectedly even though I thought I had more time to shoot an enemy...
Regardless, nice job on this one!

Cool and simple idea, I think you could make is really juicy with some very simple tricks, like adding screen shake, particles, small animations when the enemy receives damage, etc. With a little more polish, it has potential to become a great game !

a nice little game! stuck to the theme and i didnt find any glitches. the only this i would say is to add some how to play stuff/instructions cause it took me a minute to figure out what i was meant to do

Nice concept, as mentioned before the game needs a bit more "juice", screenshake, particles, hit effects, better sounds, ... But for a first entry it is quite good and you received already a lot of ratings, you can be proud :D
Good take on the theme. The difficulty ramp seemed a little too high. A slower start would allow a player to get more engaged at the beginning.
Nice idea, a few tweaks away from being excellent. I think the impact of each hit shouldn't reduce the circle by quite so much, and maybe the smallest fragment should be slightly bigger (even if just for a while at the beginning).
Nicely done! The bullets do need to be way faster though, because the enemies are a bit fast for the number that there are, and the bullets are incredibly slow.
Nice entry, I would like to be able to move diagonally though (using W and A at the same time to move northwest). Other than that it's a great entry! Cheerz!
Nice game! I love minimalistic visuals - it is very clean and great for arcade games. It is getting hard pretty steep IMHO, but if you want to deliver a quite arcade-style gameplay, that is how it supposed to be :)
Also, even the smallest dot seems to do a lot of damage to the circle. Maybe it should shrink it just by a little bit?
btw, I haven't seen any powerups - maybe you can include some to spice up the gameplay and deliver some variety for longer play sessions?

You game is pretty fun, so please make it more next time. Thememaster, thats you are, fit into the theme. Not too horiblle art but next time try invest time more into art. Overall I think this game is good, and I think, next time you will create as good game as this is, or maybe better, so good job.

a little fun game, it took me a while to notice that I can move, but having the balls when hit get smaller not on the center is really annoying making the rest of the bullets to miss

@philstrahl Thank you for playing my game and giving feedback. The file is a bit large because it has a lot of junk from prototyping and I did not get the time to remove them and risking the game. The music was a last minute job. I only had 2 days to work on the game as I was having trouble with the player in the circle the first day. The clicking to shoot was added because I thought it will add challenge and players can just stand in the middle and press the mouse around in a circle reducing the challenge but, after playing the game for a while, I think I was wrong. I am making a post jam with all the changes like score system, more juice, maybe better music ? (I am not good at making music so fingers crossed), slower difficulty increase, tweaking, and more...
