A great start for a first game!

Had a hard time figuring out what to do in this game, but it's an interesting idea.

Nice Work! Game was simple and fun. Could use some work on art assets and the difficulty curve.

Like a reverse Plague Inc! I liked this take, though I was able to win pretty fast by just spamming every option available.

thatothernerd 2020-04-21 02:24

It was pretty fun, but a bit too realistic...

fukusplutus 2020-04-21 02:27

cool little game, very relevant, simple concept with good controls. although missing a tutorial

xeno-software 2020-04-21 02:28

I really enjoyed this game! If only real governments could work this fast...

I entirely agree with @entirelybees on this. A tad too easy when you can just click every option as soon as it pops up. Otherwise a fine entry :)

Ha! I won one:)

So first off: It was pretty self-explanatory, so instructions aren't needed. But more backstory in your description could've been helpful (maybe explain some mechanics).

Other feedback: Music and sound are always a plus, just a simple loop for the music or something. It doesn't have to be part of your rating (i.e. you can use other's work if it is a free license, but do include it as it makes the game a lot more fun)

Screen Size: So I have a relatively common laptop screen size at 1366 x 768, and this game didn't fit right in my screen (too tall) so I ended up continuously scrolling

Mechanics: I Don't understand all the nitty gritty, but you did a pretty great job! I think your game needed to be slower paced, so that we could see the spread more rather than spamming buttons on the "take measures" screen ;)

Finally, It looks like your specialty is the mechanics and not the Gui or Graphics, so I'll spare you that complaint :)

Cool First Game!

hypermania 2020-04-22 22:08

Pretty self-explanatory, but could use some more "gameplay" mechanics. As of present, a lot of the mechanics are "if there's a low number, click the button to make the number higher," with the added complexity of "don't click the button if the number isn't low."

The programming's fine. No major bugs or anything, which is better than the norm for Ludum Dare submissions, but try to put a little stronger of a focus on gameplay design next time!

Interesting take on the jam theme. The UI is clean and clear to read. Nice work.

gamechoy 2020-04-22 23:13

Very impressive simulator, and definitely topical! Hope to see more from you.

nicksmaddog 2020-04-22 23:13

Well done for your first jam! It's tough to accurately plan how much time everything will take, especially at first. As you get more jams under your belt, you'll get a better idea of the timing of everything based on your past experience. Make sure to keep joining in future jams!

proforce 2020-04-22 23:21

Amazing dude! Took a little to understand all the actions, but I did end up winning! Very fun!

bisvilla 2020-04-22 23:23

Nicely done with your time spent and a very good idea of gameplay.

noobexception 2020-04-22 23:25

I really like the idea of the game, but I feel like some things could be improved.

You might add some sound effects, and I think that UI could be a bit better - now I find it a bit ugly, but that's just my taste

As for game made in 15 hours for your first time - it's really great and you should definitely keep on trying.

adonisdevs 2020-04-22 23:27

I actually really enjoyed this! I won with only 5 people dying but it took a couple of tries haha. This game definitely needs sound. Thanks for making this :D

blackgoku36 2020-04-23 22:13

Nice game concept! It was good enough for first LD

gwinnell 2020-04-26 10:47

I kept 198 people alive! All in one day! :O I really like the concept.

From a design point of view it might have been nicer to give the player free reign over what actions they choose, so long as they have the money, rather than have them enable on a timer. If you work on this more, it might also be cool to lockdown or apply specific abilities to specific areas... just like we'll probably have to soon in real life...

For achieving this much in such a short amount of time, and for your first Ludum Dare, well done!

This is a tough one, just like the real situation. This could probably be useful for showing people the difficulties governments face trying to deal with this situation.
