LD46 — Keep it alive

Guns are Gas are Life are Score by Josh Riley 2020-04-20T02:49:31Z

Very nice game. My only issue is how fast you rotate, If the game didn't have such polish I would have given up on it earlier. The shake when you fire the particle effects are great but it is impossible to control the space ship.

8 Degrees of Being Charlie McCandless by Simukas 2020-04-20T11:43:34Z

Very nice game, I love it. Simple premise with execution. I think It should increase in difficulty over time, before I achieved stability I was sure this game just goes on and on because there is no sense of progression so people might leave the game without knowing that there is an end. But it is such a nice game with interesting mechanics so amazing job, Kudos!

Keep pizza alive by Sergey Myachin 2020-04-20T08:33:13Z

The game seems to be stuck on the entry screen.

Machine and Nature by MoonAgent 2020-04-20T02:08:26Z

Interesting concept, very nice art. The controllers are not very good and the random enemy generator spawns enemies outside of reach. Great upload thank you!

Plant Baby by theArtifacts 2020-04-20T17:26:44Z

Seems really interesting but to be honest I wasn't able to grow a single plant, I tried understanding how much water to use, I tried different pots and I tried trimming but nothing seemed to work.

Game Jam Brain by PurpledArtFrog 2020-04-20T09:14:08Z

Very nice and fun little TD game. Very impressive how you were able to put so much content in it.

Protect the Walnut! by Eduardo Yukio 2020-04-20T12:02:58Z

Nice concept and puzzels, the controlles are really hard to work with. The levels are great, great entry Kudos

My sweet flower. by TheDebian 2020-04-20T11:57:41Z

Very nice and intresting style. As a fellow Godot developer I really appreciate the result. Good job man. If you ever find out what made it crash in the browser don't forget to file a bug report :-)

Dave's Birthday Party by GoldenEvolution 2020-04-20T09:51:29Z

Wow, Great entry. I love how you made all the elements of the game fit the story. The balloons as a marker for health, The enemies being flying object and the reason why the player is falling from the sky is hilarious. Good job had a lot of fun.

HealWall by xart2012 2020-04-22T08:23:48Z

The game, UI and style are great, I could not figure out what are the rules and when can I add blocks/reinforce them. Amazing art and UI flow for such a short time

Late Medieval Network Engineer by MisterKeefe 2020-04-20T09:20:51Z

Love the mechanics and the execution. Great entry man.

Not Clowning Around! by Wilson Taylor 2020-04-20T02:02:46Z

Interesting game, The game play is not very intuitive but the feel and graphics are very nice

Tears of Coffee by Milestone Games 2020-04-20T12:10:56Z

LOVE the art, LOVE the concept and LOVE the interpretation of the theme. I think the main problem here is the difficulty scaling and sense of progression. I served about 20 customers and quit because the game did not seem to change. I think this game needs some upgrade system and currency. That said if there would have been more machines to use the way they are placed is probably going to become very annoying, a solution can be that the player have to physically go to the machine otherwise it feels like an unnecessary task to artificially increase difficulty. But all that said I don't want the main message to slip which is: the game art, story, concept is great and I can see myself playing this exact game with slight changes and having a long fun time. Great amazing job especially with respect to the time.

Floyd's Fire by BinaryPrinciple 2020-04-21T09:17:38Z

It's a nice little game, In general I love the aesthetics but I think that transforming the player avatar to be an abstract shape like the rest of the objects in the game it would be tied up better. The gameplay is nice but gets repetitive after a while. There seems to be no reason to risk fighting ghost because the fights take more fire than they give back. I found that just by going straighet to the exit I get the most progress. I think that making the ghosts chase you or block the way fighting them would feel more natural. For this short time reaching this nice a mood in such short time is amazing. Great entry!

My Pet Rock by GameGenesis 2020-04-20T12:34:15Z

Very nice atmosphere with the sound and the dark. The writing is great and the result is great. My only criticism is that you are not able to dodge the falling objects because the player is to slow which takes some of the player feeling of agency because there is a time from when you spot the object until it hits you that you are unable to do anything and just wait there for that to happen. The audio cues do make this problem manageable but in general I think you should make the player a bit faster or the objects falling slower. Great game, loved it, thank you!

Dicelem: Rise of the Golem v0.9.0 - demoversion by Snory 2020-04-20T08:40:21Z

Very innovative, I would wish it was a little bit slower at least a t first so I would be able to understand the effect of my actions. Currently you either win or loose and it's hard to keep track as to what was the result.

Satisfy'n: Keep the Love Alive by BlackOpsBen 2020-04-20T02:39:26Z

Nice art. I really love how you set up the interactions. It is such a simple solution for a complex problem to just make the character magnet to a building, you imminently understand where you are and the object knows he has the focus. I wans't able to understand the game and so I did not end up progressing in it a lot because I kept loosing. Maybe a text with some instructions would be helpful for the first couple of actions.

Do not venture into the darkness by Sergio Gonzalez 2020-04-21T09:26:31Z

Very nice game, I made a game so similar that I feel biased  I think that elevating the camera a little would make things easier to see. Very nice game.

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-20T03:08:44Z

@nicksmaddog, It wasn't, thank you so much for the feedback. If I'll make some changes the first thing would be to add music, the second, make the pick able items more distinct.

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-20T03:23:12Z

@jetthesimon Thank you so much for your input. I totally agree , it is not clear if the player is close enough to the wood and where exactly you should press to pick up.

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-20T06:58:15Z

@fussenkuh I totaly agree, I kept saying: "Ill do the music at the end" I think for the one in October I'll force myself to make something that would be very dependent on a good music.

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-20T09:23:19Z

@snory Thank you so much for you input. Yeah I also felt that the game was to easy but to be honest the enemy AI is so bad that I wasn't able to balance the game difficulty so I opted for variation in how they are distributed across the map.

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-20T10:30:36Z

@ben-taylor Thank you very much for your input. I must admit that my biggest take back from this is that trying to fit levels+dialog+sound was a bad call. They all turned out so raw that I am not sure if they improve the game at all. Next jam is going to be all about simplicity and focus. And thank you again for your input.

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-20T11:34:39Z

@moebiusmeow Thank you for playing and for your input, I appreciate it a lot.

Embers by Barelos 2020-04-21T07:53:41Z

@binaryprinciple Thank you very much for playing. I was really trying to give a feel of progression and there were suppose to be much more emphasis on the dialog and upgrades at the end of each day but I failed doing that. In October I am going to have an extra personal theme and it would be focus :-)

Nature by rjerez192 2020-04-20T02:46:20Z

I would love to play but HTML faulty

Nature by rjerez192 2020-04-20T03:02:46Z

Very nice game, My only issue is that I had to really try and read into the numbers to get a general understanding of what is going on. The premise is clear from the description and the controllers and what they do are very clear but it is hard to understand what are the consequences of your actions. That said I am amazed at the amount of work you were able to put into this, the music is great, calming and nice and the graphics are also very very nice.

Flameout by Tetrago 2020-04-20T15:53:21Z

Very well made game, Everything that was implemented was implemented completely. I think that with a little music and "omf" in the form of particle effects and screen shakes you have a nice time waster.

YOUR RAGING SPIRIT by madbookstudios 2020-04-20T02:44:49Z

Nice game, I love art of the fire. The movement controllers are a lot of fun and are very snappy. I would prefer the there would be one attack button and you'll attack in the direction of the button you are clicking on. I found myself playing for three or four minutes and still making mistakes with the controllers. Great game, love the art!

Feed The Fire by Nuanda79 2020-04-21T13:19:28Z

Very nice game, I love the art. I also made a keep the fire alive game so I wanted to see similar games to learn from. I actually picked up a lot from this game. I loved that the "how to play" button was first which forces players to read the instructions first - very important for this type of jam. I loved the art, It looked so polished and beautiful. I loved the forest ambient sound on the main screen to immediately set the mood. I knew all this things are important but when I compare your game to mine it is suddenly so apparent what great diffrent this stuff make. I am planning on incorporating all this things in my next game jam, So thank you for the game and for the free lesson

Keep Adventurer alive by bigTINYGames 2020-04-20T08:30:03Z

Great looking game. Without the text it is almost impossible to know what to do and where exactly to press. I would try and add some visual queues to the game. But as I said the graphics are awesome and it's amazing how much effort you managed to put into it in such a short time.

Feeding Time! by ghostonline 2020-04-20T09:39:09Z

Very nice game, simple and effective. Great entry.

Cabbage Defender by Nerd Everyday 2020-04-20T02:55:51Z

Very nice game, I love the controllers and the "djj" sound your gun make made me laugh. The controles are great and you imminently understand what you need to do. The only criticism I have is there is no sense of progression, You dont event have ascore to look at. I reached wave 15 and quit because after the boss and the other waves there didn't seem to be anything else to do. But it is amazing the amount of work you were able to put into this game.

Crackles by Mumb0 2020-04-21T13:30:13Z

Great sound effects, Love the ambient in the main screen and the lightning when pressing play, really sets the mood for a creepy dark night. I think there are to few level 1 burnables and at a certin point you are invincible but the game play is very fun and the burning animation and speed boost really make the burring of stuff very satisfying.

dry dry by Nathan123 2020-04-20T02:19:09Z

Nice game, I would try to start with slower enemies so that the player would have time to adjust, especially when there are no instructions for keyboard and mouse players

The Game of our Lives by Owl_Skip 2020-04-20T02:35:42Z

Very interesting game, I love the atmosphere and the vibe you get. You have a beautiful voice, perfect for narration. In the game of life you have a very clear understanding of the rules and by following those very simple rules you get a complex result. In your game I wans't sure what the rules was so I didn't ended up getting engaged. That said it is a beautiful game in its simplicity and a very polished one for such a short time frame.

Grow Together by johnjoemcbob 2020-04-20T09:46:18Z

Very beautiful game, I did not quite understand what the goal is after you first reach the water but the shapes that the plant makes as it grows are beautiful. Mt only problem with the game was the sound. If you have multiple branches die at the same time the sound is very unpleasant. Besides that the controls are a little figity but I just imagine the amount of time it took you to implement the growth behavior and making it so that you can expend the plant from any point and I don't see any time left for polishing the controls. Great entry.

Spread by SapporoVHS 2020-04-20T03:05:00Z

Day 18 is my best result. Very nice game, And I see you are also using the Godot engine, a true man of culture :-)
