Awesome game! We kind of got a similar idea about this theme! Our approach was much darker I guess. :-)

There are a lot of fire-based keep alive games in this jam, but this one was the must fun for me, great mood graphic but got disappointed by the minus points after burning an alien :(
Great job thoe, really solid and polished game.
Good job, but are you sure that aliens arent combustible? :D I couldnt beat it in medium, but easy was easy enough for me :) Really nice graphics and game overall!
Thanks @machnikl for your comment!
@fabrizio-spadaro Poor aliens, they are our friends! It's too sad to burn them! :D and thanks for the appreciation!
Great game with awesome graphics! The flashlight mechanic is a bit annoying and I would suggest reducing the number of required clicks. Overall it could be great, polished mobile game.
@pabricka we are not really sure, but it's too sad to burn that smiling little martian! :D Thanks for your nice comment
Thanks @geryon-games for commenting and your advice!
I really enjoy to play the game Music is cool, sound effects are cool, gameplay too, and so on... Really great job, it's fun and fit perfectly with theme
@millhow I appreciate your comment very much, thanks!
I must have been doing it wrong but my flashlight would go off and not turn on again even when I clicked. Still was fun but I wasn't able to beat it on easy.
@danielrmorgan you have to press the space bar several time to recharge the flashlight. Try again and you'll surely beat it quite easely. Thanks for your feedback!
Oh okay thanks!
Yay! Beat it on 2nd try! I love how everyone in the comments seems to be wanting to use aliens as fuel, myself included. :joy: I think that was actually the first thing I attempted to burn.
Overall, this was a pretty cool entry! Simple mechanics that work to make a quite entertaining little experience. Very well executed overall.
Thanks for feedback!
Cool game! We had some similar mechanics and even the same name :D
Fun game! Like others, I definitely at one point tried to use the aliens for fuel (and was sad when I had to use books).
Very nice game, I love the art. I also made a keep the fire alive game so I wanted to see similar games to learn from. I actually picked up a lot from this game. I loved that the "how to play" button was first which forces players to read the instructions first - very important for this type of jam. I loved the art, It looked so polished and beautiful. I loved the forest ambient sound on the main screen to immediately set the mood. I knew all this things are important but when I compare your game to mine it is suddenly so apparent what great diffrent this stuff make. I am planning on incorporating all this things in my next game jam, So thank you for the game and for the free lesson :smile:
Wow that is a really cool game, I was really impressed with the graphics. I did however find it pretty difficult to find the right items to burn. I think also a good addition would be that you can let objects go when you pick them up because sometime I picked up a shoe but a second later rememberd they cant be burned. Overall a great game!
@jordyfornow after a short time you play you can remember what are the good objects and find them faster. Besides you are right, we realized that object release is needed and we are already implementing it!
@barelos such a nice comment, thank you. It repays our effort...
@sarahfrisk I assure you that those books were not really interesting! :-D
Molto carino ragazzi! Segue bene il tema e nella sua semplicità è molto challenging! Bello :)
Great graphics, music is fine, game is very well balanced and you were able to create different difficulty levels. Nice work!
grazie mille @giu-zcc!!
thanks @terrykk!!
I'm more concerned about the alien invasion than the fire.
@rob1221dev they seem to be nice people, they smile and say hello
Nice graphics and cool concept ! But for the flashlight, I wouldn't say no to a bar that indicates the remaining light time (or something like that).
@pierre-cilluffo that could be a good idea, thanks!
This was fun! Pretty clever, and the difficulty was on point! Also damn... this forest is full of things c':
good game, i tried medium first and lost right away as i couldn't find any wood. so then i went to easy and had better luck. it's fun to play, i think as some mentioned it would be helpful to know when your light will go back on as it gets frustrating clicking continuously hoping to see again.
Fun game! I struggled at first even with all the good instructions I just wanted to burn everything lol. I tried using the sword to kill the aliens, but alas this is a peaceful game about burning things with fire. The game looks very nice and the fire animation in the middle is excellent, which is key as it is the focal point of the game. Once I really got the fire going I had to wait to add more stuff as to not waste them, I kind of wanted to make a super huge bonfire and got over the max limit. Really nice game-play overall and solid theme based concept. Good work! You can take the rest of the week off.
I like the humor with some of the objects you can find, but the recharging the flashlight mechanic felt a bit more annoying than fun. Maybe it would be better to make it so you have to move your mouse to a certain spot to recharge it?
Hey, that was funn! Expected that one of the aliens would be easter egg and will burn, but it looks like it was not :D fitting the theme, find music and sounds. Nothing bad to say. Great entry! :)
@alex-weiser thanks for your feedback, congratulations for your game as well!
Very nice and polished entry - simple an intuitive :smile:
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
This is a really nice example of something simple done right. A lovely polished entry that has you thinking and laughing. What more could you want? The only thing that would make it better is even more weird things to burn!! I agree with @tatetate about the flashlight recharging being annoying and perhaps there being a better way to do it. :)
Thank you @ponypen for your feedback!
The different colored gas can mechanic adds a lot to the game, I like it. The audio was on-point as well, especially the sound of cranking the flashlight. Nice work!
@wheffle I’m glad you noticed and appreciate these details, thanks!
When I started playing I was worried it was going to be quite a small game, but it turns out you really managed to make a familiar concept feel new. The graphics are very good and in combination with the sounds they give the player a good idea of how good they are doing. Perfect idea for this theme as well. Well done!
@hare-software luckily we have a little surprised you, thanks for the nice words!
you got me w the alien ngl lmao
@saucygames 😀😀
Lots of cool little things in this game. I like how the items only appear/change when you aren't looking at them with the flashlight (at least that seemed to be how it worked). I thought it was funny that you could burn guitars and books. The fact that what was in the colored containers was randomized at the beginning didn't seem that interesting to me, mostly just annoying. Mashing space to charge the flashlight felt good because of the sound. Well done!
Really nice and simple game. The graphics are awesome and the sounds are quite pleasant (except for the "oh no" which I don't personally like). Also I didn't quite like the fact that items are randomized every time you throw something into the fire, so you can't return to an item that you saw earlier. But it probably makes the gameplay better, so it's not a problem. Amazing game!
Nice little game! Feels well-polished, I encountered no bugs or strange behaviour. I liked the clean graphics and I adored the alien :). Sound effects were well-chosen as well. Great work.
The flashlight mechanic was good, having to recharge it was a nice touch. There was a bit of humor with the "bad" fuels and other random stuff that would pop up. The graphics and sound were both really good.
Cool game, lovely art and setting. Good difficulty level, took me quite a few tries. I liked the background music and the sound of the crackling fire. Great job!
I tried chucking the alien into the fire one too many times XD.
Graphics and audio are great and fit the game really well! Game feels really polished and I like the lighting effect of the game!
Really great game! I managed to win and I had fun getting there! Innovative, and I like how items appear in the dark when you have your light in a different area, it adds a very dynamic feel to the game environment. Improvements: I didn't really understand where my looking light would go off (or shrink really small) and come on randomly. The graphics are really cool and, alongside crisp, well layered audio, I think it's a good entry and really well made!
Really simple game but clear and addictive. Graphics looks good and sound effects too. Good game for mobile device imho. Well done :v:
@scott-steffes @TheJonu @fabula-rasa @shaolin-dave @flipsy @lapisraider @emperor-eagle @carlofalltrades Thanks everybody for the nice comments and constructive feedback! I'm going to check your games too! :)
Great little game, I like the concept and the art. This is pretty polished overall so congrats. I like how the items are swapped out and appear in the darkness so the player doesn't actually see it happening.
Some items that I thought should be flammable weren't, which was a little frustrating.I'm also not sure the flashlight running out was really all that engaging, but something could probably be done there to make it more fun.
Nice work overall!
nice concept! I really like the graphic and the main idea of the game. Good job :-)
@ryannielson @faber Thanks a lot!
The game is fun and simple. The mini game to charge the torch is a nice idea. I put the game in easy mode and i lost, i didn't find enough wood or good combustible. Maybe little difficult with the RNG. Good work you can make easily a mobile game with that.(i didn't know there a lot of aliens in the woods)
@robowarrior1982 because maybe you have never been in a wood at night with a torch :P Thanks for feedback!
I like the simple mechanism, the gameplay is smooth and I enjoy the challenge of it, overall nice game. Anyway, I think you should consider make more levels and add different factors to the game, for example a different mode where the player have to survive as long as possible, not just until 7 am. Your game can be developed more.
@sandra-martinez that's a good idea, we are already thinking of enriching the game for a future release. Thanks for feedback!
it reminded me of that Simpson's episode where Bart and Homer are in the woods looking for the alien,and the alien was mr Burns :D
It's a good choice to not put the alien in the fire. But I wish there was more to do. Just grabbing stuff and put on the fire, once you drain out all the possible objects is not a engaging core-loop mechanic.
SFX are a bit annoying overall (the only two I liked were "Oh noo" and the fire sounds)... Graphics is nice and cute.
You should tell somewhere how to recharge the battery of the light torch. but the way you recharge, feels a bit ... off. I would prefer as collecting batteries around and... don't know, mount them in the torchlight ? As I distractor/minigame inside the game.
Well, it was a jam, so the scope was small enough, and I actually had fun playing it :) Thanks for the entry
You've put together nice and neat game. Keep up the fire! :fire:
@notapixelstudio I didn't remember that Simpsons episode! ahaha How to recharge the flashlight is written in "How to play" however we can certainly find a more effective system to recharge it! thanks for the advice! we are already planning new game modes and enrichments. We consider our little game a base from which to start to make something a little more elaborate. I hope we will succeed
@mirsakka thanks!! :fire: :fire: :fire:
I was not set on fire by the plot, but I got caught up in the game and really enjoyed it. The mechanic is not a big innovation but the items you can burn are amazing! A little bit disappointed for not being able to interact with the little greenies ^^
@warabii Thanks for feedback! our friend :alien: says hello to you!
Reminds me of warm summer days and bonfires :D
Very tricky game, even easy feels hard! But it looks amazing and there's a lot of graphics for the short time! Love it.
@oakwarrior @drums thanks for the nice feedback!
This game was awesome!! I love the concept. Even though it is an simple game, it is fun to play and challenging. Good Luck!!
This was a simple concept well executed. The music was a little repetitive and got annoying very quickly, and I didn't like that I had to figure out what was 'combustible' and what wasn't by trial and error, but those are my only real complaints. Nice little game for a weekend's work.
This was really well executed and you ended up with a nice game with some replay value too. I did find a bit of happiness playing this game :wink:
Also as others have said I sometimes didn't agree with you what would make the fire burn or not, I think aliens would actually be great fuel, just look at my game haha.
Simple game but I enjoyed it for some time.
@linus Glad we brought a bit of happiness to you, that’s a big reached goal :)
@historymaker118 thanks!!
It's certainly interesting how many different takes there have been on keeping fires alive. The gameplay was simple but enjoyable. Very mysterious that this forest has so many aliens...
Nice game. I like trying to figure out what you could burn. The torch mechanic was really cool, and looked awesome. No apparent bugs. Nice job!
@pepperkep and @convg thanks both!
Really nice concept! This was a really fun game, straight forward gameplay but super enjoyable! Overall, this was a really good jam entry!
Very enjoyable! In a sea of burning games this really stands out good job! Will keep burning aliens/10 ^^
Wonderful little game! Love'd the fire :]
Throwing aliens into the fire should ignite it more (or turns it green)^^ Game works quite well, it is a bit simple but quite fun. I know there are a lot of keep the fire alive games, but I think i would say in the innovation ratings I would say it fits its genre (so it's not negative for me).
Very well done for your little game :) simple, elegant, quick, beautiful design and UI. Good job on on your entry :thumbsup:
Very cute game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/7Pd4SRINH38
@jupiter-hadley Thanks Jupi! Hope you enjoyed it!
Hey, nice game you got there! At first it was pretty hard, but I learnt what to burn and what to ignore (why do you hate guitars so much) and eventually beat the hard level!
Graphics and music is good, the different size torch for the different levels make a whole lot difference, and I like how the different things have a separate effect on the fire. It wasn't completely clear when new items would appear, but eventually I started burning shoes just to get some new ones. Tactics, innit.
Quite enjoyed that - easy to understand but took a while to beat hard. Well done.
@dollarone I hate guitars because I'm a bass player (I'm joking, obviously) :smile: and your shoes strategy is very smart! Thanks for commenting!
Nice game! Good idea with the flashlight and executed well. The hard level was indeed touch xD. I tried different tactics, and it required a great deal of concentration as the levels progressed since the flashlight became smaller and smaller. Good and art and sounds too.
Maybe instead of pitch black, a grey background with outline of trees can be better, I guess in terms of eye strain. But overall well done!
@joamd a background with outline of trees could be a good idea, we'll think about it! Thanks
Hey, thanks for posting the game to my stream!
A nice solid searching mechanic. Cool graphics when they are actually visible, and random aliens which apparently don't burn very well. Good job overall.
Great job!
The game feels nice and is pretty polished. I liked the clear visuals and audio feedback. The gameplay is very simple, yet correct balance makes it interesting. The lamp battery mechanic is also a very good idea. Simple and breaks the rythm a bit when needed.
I loved the "oh no!" sound when putting some water on the fire. my goal on the next runs was actually to find water to hear it again :fire:
Thanks for the game!
Oh no! :smile: Thanks @doot for playing our game and for your comment!
I loved the graphics and the music is very well done, I had fun a good time going up difficulty I am not very good at this hahaha, Nice Job!fogat.jpg
@gameovermexico Congratulations!!
It was Fun to Play Your Game. In the Hard Level The fire suddenly gone off with a pop up of (-5) But at that moment my mouse was away from the Fire. It happened only once. But fun to play game.
@lazzydev72 Must've been a gust of wind... :wink: just joking, we think that it happened because an object has spawned too close to the fire. Thanks for playing and for your feedback!
Good game, found it quite difficult on easy and medium so didn't try hard but that's good made me want to play more to beat it. Well done.
