Nice game. I found it a little hard to aim accurately but overall it was fun. And thanks for giving me an escape to the main menu! Seems like a lot of people leave out a way to quit if you want to.

Great, a little hard to aim but still lots of fun

pilcrow 2021-04-27 14:30

Its really hard to aim, I managed to sink one ship down and here goes the gameplay :(

mrbrainfed 2021-04-27 14:47

I love the leaderboard when you die! Really gives players a reason to play. (though I used cheats the first few rounds) Controls are a bit confusing at first. but are also easy to get used to. Great game overall!

Arr, its hard to aim - feels like Ive got just one eye. Steering the ship feels a bit weird, bc i would like to move in one way and shoot in another. I know, the cannon is mounted fix on the ship, but when I move down and then up to point the cannon in the direction of the enemies I float upstream way hight than I would want. The graphics are fine and the audio is good! Tilting the cannon and dialing in the shots in between dodging worked , overall, quite well though

@ancient-pixel Just a hint for "rotating" the ship: if your ship is pointing to the right, steer a bit upwards and then to the left.

In the first moment that sounds weird but from logic side: Ever tried to "drive" a tight circle with a ship? tbh: We were talking about a pure "rotation" control, too but we did not add it to the ganme :D

This was pretty neat. I also am a big fan of the leader board. Meta tip scroll the cannon tilt all the way down. I love the low poly art style and water it's really neat.

Overall the game was good. I liked the addition of a leaderboard at the end of the run. I think the controls could have used some work though.

phoenix-fireflower 2021-04-28 08:34

I had to use some cheats to get used to the controls without dying immediately, but once I got the hang of it I menaged to reach the endless wave. The low-poly aesthetic is a nice touch.

Cool game! I think the steering was a bit strange. I think I would have preferred if the controls used W to move the ship in the direction it was facing, and A/D to turn the ship. Overall fun game though!

Nice little game, I experienced some troubles with aiming, but it was all very fun overall.

eduardo-yukio 2021-04-30 13:45

The game has nice graphics and audio, but I had many difficulties with the "tank" controls. Sometimes the boat moved forward by its own, noy only when I pressed W, which made me lose and confused me a lot.

Other than that, its very fun and the AI is very challenging. Good job!

firesplash-entertainment 2021-04-30 23:58

@eduardo-yukio I think the mechanic you are referring to is that when the boat is in the upper 70% of the screen after a reef wave, it gets pushed back automatically to make room for the enemy wave. I agree this could have used some more polish.

Also thanks for all your feedback to everyone who left some notes! It is very appreciated!

Funny game, but I miss something to aim and what is that "Canon Tilt" good for? I noticed that I can change it with the mouse reel. Good entry. :)

firesplash-entertainment 2021-05-01 16:04

@mighty-mufflon-games the tilt adjusts the height-angle of the cannon so with higher tilt, cannon balls are flying further and with lower tilt shorter. Higher tilt may caus balls to not hit nearby enemies as the curve is calculated in. (Ball higher than deck -> no hit)

gabriela-moura 2021-05-08 17:17

Well done! This funny game.

An interesting mechanic, but I found myself wanting to steer the ship left and right (in local space) rather than moving the whole ship left and right, so I kept turning ways I didn't intend. I think maybe a slower pace where you aren't bombarded with as many shots and have more clear gaps in the enemy attacks might help with the people struggling to aim.
