Ahah fun ! but it's horrible to heard these babies cry ! SOS

lazlo319 2018-04-24 11:13

The alternating gameplay is great! Very odd combo, very funny. Great game all around

iker-diaz 2018-04-24 11:15

Some of them turned blue and I gave milk to the first one and it worked, but I couldn't give more to the others, so they all died. Nice game tho.

Check out our game, it's also about crazy shooting <3 https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/shooting-mama

michipantera 2018-04-24 11:18

You have to give them the teddy bear!! @iker-diaz xDD

michipantera 2018-04-24 11:18

Some of them need milk (turning blue), some of them need Teddy bear (turning red)

0nironauta 2018-04-24 11:23

Yeah Teddy is there waiting

cenullum 2018-04-24 11:26

lol I like the humor. I guess I lost because of dead zombie ragdoll. shooting was laggy. good luck!

tomavatars 2018-04-24 11:30

I had much fun playing your game! Just remind me too much my own life

splitpainter 2018-04-24 11:33

hahahah amusing! But really hard.

jesper-k 2018-04-24 11:35

A baby turned blue, I thought it was an alien so I tried to shoot it, didn't work so I gave it some milk. Zombies came through the glass and killed us all.

The game was actually fun :-D I like the graphics style, and the game is cute and terrifying at the same time :-D Great job :-)

The only thing that was a bit annoying was my mouse kept going out of the window :-)

subhajit-nath 2018-04-24 11:40

Love the concept of babysitting and zombie killing.

la-mecanique-du-plastique 2018-04-24 11:43

Ahhhhh, game over ! I managed to apease 8 babies though, that's kind of a great success considering the apocalypse contex and those creepy yelling !

I had a bug at the first launch of the game, I could'nt do any action on the babies.

Nice game concept and execution, and good cinematography (the moment when first zomby appeared work fine on me).

michipantera 2018-04-24 11:43

Thank you so much for your comments! XDD @Tomavatars , I know. It's like a parenting simulator. @jesper-k your comment made me my day! :)

mau 2018-04-24 11:55

LOL, super fun. Those babies can't stay quiet.

elhombrebanana 2018-04-24 12:21

I can't understand why nobody has made a full game about this already. Good concept, good execution, BAD BABIES 9/10 <3

michipantera 2018-04-24 12:30

Thank you so much @elhombrebanana !!! :_)

hugimugi7 2018-04-24 12:38

Very fun and challenging! ...But I hate those babies.

freebo 2018-04-24 12:48

I liked the game, and you executed very well! I especially enjoyed the break in mood from when the zombies entered. Well done!

(If you are not tired of zombies just yet, please checkout our contribution to this years LD; https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/tour-de-france-legstrong )

pkenney 2018-04-24 12:51

This is a great core concept to use for the theme: to set the two genres against each other in a conflict where the player needs to divide their time and attention between competing goals. You even took it a step further and forced me to literally turn my back on the action game to tend to the other genre! Nice.

And the execution is really strong, too. The voxel aesthetic works really well, and the sound is -- well, err, let's set aside the crying baby sound and talk about the rest -- is very nice. I especially liked that dropping the shotgun on the floor made the same sound as dropping the bottle. A clever small joke.

I had about the right amount of breathing room at the start, and I absolutely loved that you didn't tutorialize me at all, and just threw me straight in to figure it out.

The only small thing I wanted to tweak -- setting aside the crying -- was this hitbox for the pickup command, I would have preferred it to be just slightly more generous, I had to be a little more careful than felt smooth.

Overall this was excellent, but let's talk about the crying. I don't know what I want. On the one hand, you have to have the crying. On the other hand, it's crying, which is like a magical sound my brain is designed to find maximally annoying. I *definitely* would have played more of this if it weren't for the crying. My brain was like "nah let's not click the button that opts into more crying" unfortunately.

But that said, I didn't need to play a ton to enjoy this. Very nice entry.

random-thoughts 2018-04-24 12:57

Really fun game! Its very stressful that there's constant zombie noises, so I never know when a zombie is actually there, but that kinda adds more to the game I think.

0nironauta 2018-04-24 13:10

@pkenney thanks a lot for your comments. Indeed the crying was very difficult to develop. We try 4 different audios and these 2 was the best. Maybe is a human brin thing XD

"And the execution is really strong, too. The voxel aesthetic works really well, and the sound is – well, err, let’s set aside the crying baby sound and talk about the rest – is very nice. YOU NOTICED!!! I'm happy XDDD

mattpattie2 2018-04-24 13:20

Well one guys. this is great fun. took me a while to realise where the shotgun was.

yetman 2018-04-24 13:32

Taking care of minecraft babies and fighting zombies is a really enjoyable combination. The first thing I tried was to shoot the babies but it unfortunately didn't work. My only complaint is that there is nothing I can see to track the progress (e.g. time or score) since It would be fun to compare scores with others. The visuals are very nice and the crying was, as it is supposed to be, annoying. Now we need a spin-off where we feed zombies and kill babies, please.

beebo-studios 2018-04-24 13:52

I love how you are cast into things and just have to figure out what the babies want. Like real babies, I had no idea if they wanted milk or toys. The artstyle is good and the atmosphere really creepy. Nice job! We send you a fish <3

0nironauta 2018-04-24 13:53

@yetman in the game over screen you have the score to share :id: It's secret formula.

(this is a development image, but you can see it :D) GameOver2.JPG

samupo 2018-04-24 14:00

Not bad at all. Has a nice consistent gameplay and a decent art-style. Sound effect are hilarious.

Too bad I couldn't shoot the babies and shoot particles could have been better.

yetman 2018-04-24 14:12

@0nironauta Nice, I should have played till death before commenting. Still a score UI during gameplay would be nice in my opinion. Now I have to play again to see how far I can get.

0nironauta 2018-04-24 14:18

_Still a score UI during gameplay would be nice in my opinion_

@yetman we were looking for a game without ui. But you are right, it improves replayability. Thanks for your comments.

0nironauta 2018-04-24 14:19

@samupo indeed I'm not fast making particle systems XDD

richnou 2018-04-24 16:33

It's horrible to hear the babies screaming (and can't shoot them... :-)

Very hard, quickly overwhelmed ... Good achievement!

warzoku 2018-04-24 16:34

LOL. Fun idea. Little bit difficult to understand what need to do in the beginning. I very like babies sounds

rha 2018-04-24 16:38

I had fun, it was actually hilarious how the zombies went for the babies, killing them but not eating them so I assume they just wanted to shut them up. Something that kinda bothered me: the zombie noise not ever stopping and always sounding closeby, this woul be useful to know when to turn around and look for the gun!

0nironauta 2018-04-24 16:43

@rha too easy if you know that there is a zombi behind. Better you turn to check :P Thanks for your feedback!

michipantera 2018-04-24 17:34

Be the first to complete Survaby and win a customized digital art with your own cradle, baby skeletons and other crazy stuff that didn't make it into the game. Post a screenshot of the winning screen! **Good luck!**

starlin 2018-04-24 20:28

I could feed the first crying baby, then the second baby just didn't work. I like the concept!

0nironauta 2018-04-24 20:30

@starlin please can you tell me your browser and OS? Or browser at least? :P

gdort 2018-04-24 20:36

Cool concept, I bet you guys had fun developing it :D

michipantera 2018-04-24 20:45

@starlin the second baby wants the teddy. Some babies (turning blue) want the milk, some (turning red) want the teddy. Also you need to refill the feeding bottle :D !

starlin 2018-04-24 22:05

@michipantera Thanks! I think that's why! I keep feeding the second one milk. lol will try tomorrow, bed time!

przekop 2018-04-24 23:11

That refilling part was not that obvious to figure out since babies stop crying when you interact with them with bottle. Besides that very good game. ps. I didn't know that nurturing is game genre.

nerdytea 2018-04-25 15:06

Geez, now I know how Clementine felt after The Walking Dead: Season 2.

Traumatic memories aside, this game was really good, though sometimes the baby needs the teddy when they already have it, so I have to take it and give it back to them.

Otherwise, a good concept well executed. Well done!

michipantera 2018-04-25 15:13

Hahaha, thanks @nerdytea ! Babies are that way sometimes.. xDD I'm a fan of 'Clement', too. <3

radmccool 2018-04-25 15:22

this game took a dark turn when i opened the medicine cabinet

northernhawk 2018-04-25 15:45

It was such a weird game. I enjoyed it but I don't know i liked or not, i mean i had fun but everythig was so bizarre which i think it is good?. I didn't clearly get the mix of genres here becouse i think this game is a genre by itself. So yeah overall i think it was a good job.

royur 2018-04-25 18:58

good game. got me a heart attack when milking the babies. why there is a big skeleton on the opposite room?

hkoisumi 2018-04-25 21:11

Ooooh the game is so cool! I like the combination between the two game modes! The graphics and animations are so good!

michipantera 2018-04-25 22:05

Thank you for your comment, @HKoisumi ! <3 @royur , the skeleton is kind of an easter egg with art that didn't finally make it into the game. xD

nicksmaddog 2018-04-26 00:09

Cool idea! Really different style of game. Enjoyed it!

lakrits 2018-04-26 00:11

The babies are scarier than the zombies. O_O

Btw it took a while for me to realize I had to point the bottle at a baby and hold down the left mouse button in order for it to do anything.

mrbreadman 2018-04-26 00:24

This game was hilarious, then the babies became annoying to handle while watching my back for zombies. It was a fun game, if I was to recommend any changes I'd say add some knock back to the shotgun when shooting and maybe even add different types of zombies to spicy things up? Overall I had a fun time playing, good job on the game guys!

megrabbit 2018-04-26 00:30

Did anyone else try to shoot the babies? Screen Shot 2018-04-25 at 8.28.39 PM.png

michipantera 2018-04-26 00:40

@nicksmaddog , @lakrits , @mrbreadman , thank you all for you comments and feedback! Yep, many players want to shoot the babies, we definitely have to include that in the future. Different enemies is a must in this kind of game, but unfortunately we didn't have time to do it :( Wow, @megrabbit ! Good score, you almost did it! Thanks for stopping by and playing it :D

megrabbit 2018-04-26 00:50

No one should hire me to babysit. Ever.

themonsterfromthedeep 2018-04-26 01:01

I think two added options for the player would be really helpful: the ability to leave the room before the zombies broke the door, and the ability to reload the gun.

king-kujito 2018-04-26 18:18

Fits the theme well. Nice job.

ithildin 2018-04-26 23:50

The combination of themes worked too well, the moment you have to start deciding between attacking the zombies or continue to tend for the babies the game gets super tense. Congrats on this!

Sound design contributes a lot to the atmosphere, and the graphics were cute and creepy at the same time.

Gameplay felt smooth, but I agree with other comments about the item collision areas. Sometimes picking the feeding bottle up was a bit tricky. It is not a big deal, though.

You've pulled off a really interesting entry. Congrats!

michipantera 2018-04-27 00:37

Thank you so much for your feedback @ithildin ! :D

2018-04-27 15:05

Funny idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cwbDpVj28g

michipantera 2018-04-27 18:43

Thank you so much @jupiter-hadley ! It really made my day to see our game included in your compilation! :) <3

digitaldude555 2018-04-28 15:38

I really like the graphics, you can see the consistant art style across all the assets which isnt always the case for ludum dare games. Was fun for a while but then I got sad that inevitably the babies and me would die.

Only bad part I think was the theme, see I was playing an FPS today its objective was shoot guys and hold a button to lower a barrier, this game reminded me of all those objectives that happen all the the time in fps and thats one genre not two.

And finally those sounds were terrifying form the zombies and also babies crying and turning blue, but that fits the mood of the game perfectly. Well done.

cristiano-m-garcia 2018-05-06 21:08

Good job! Cool game!

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/witchs-escape

joror 2018-05-11 14:30

Ha, nurse-mc-shotgun :D nice genre combo indeed. Good initial startup to teach skills (an in-game hint might have helped too there) The shotgun was satisfying enough - but I reallly wanted for something to happen when you shoot the babies. I mean... that screaming! Resource management might force me.

tero-pulkkinen 2018-05-12 11:33

This looks awesome. Sadly I didn't figure out anything else to do than pick a weapon from the box and shoot the babies. Sadly that didnt seem to do anything. So i'm kinda confused what is the purpose of the game. But it does look awesome / tons of great graphics in the game.

michipantera 2018-05-12 12:56

@tero-pulkkinen when the babies cry, you need to give them the feeding bottle or the teddy bear. Once the feedinh bottle is empty you need to refill it in the machine. All interactions with the feeding bottle by holding left click. 13efe.jpg hope you enjoy it more now. :) Thanks for playing. Everyonr is always trying to shoot the babies, we shoulf have definitely included that.

rodrigo-denubila 2018-05-12 13:10

Amazing game! I loved the way you mixed the theme. The game seems really polished and pretty fun to play. After all, I found having babies more scary than face zombies! Good job!

Please, take a look at my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/confessional

ferrandu91 2018-05-12 15:15

Great game!!! Its really funny the way you represent the babies and animations haha It only needs a good music and sound effects. Check out my game if you have a chance! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/alien-sports

michipantera 2018-05-12 16:13

@ferrandu91 and @rodrigo-denubila thanks for playing! The game has sound and music. Unfortunately we're currently experiencing some troubles with Chrome after the last update. Solution:click on the unity loading image while loading,or open with Firefox.

subztep 2018-05-13 20:14

OMG those crying babies made me feel I'm on an airplane! :D

acuity 2018-05-14 06:47

Hahahahahah this game is funny!

glimaleite 2018-05-14 11:18

aaaaaah man, that is so intense! The babies were driving me crazy, and because I didn't read your instructions, I was not expecting those zombies to come out of nowhere lol.

I loved the mechanics, the idea, the graphics and the audio. I was really into it. Congratulations on the great entry, this seems to me like one that will be on a great position when the results come out.

If you have some time, please take a look at my game at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/last-stand

anubhav-kashyap 2018-05-15 12:37

This game creeped me out for some reason. But it was awesome! The gameplay is also really smooth.

svarttand 2018-05-15 13:58

That was a really cool game with almost everything enhancing the other aspects of the game. For example the music was slightly creepy and then the monsters started coming, just amazing! The camera was a tiny bit too sensitive but other than that a really solid entry!

macdoom 2018-05-15 14:21

LOL! Great game!

The mix of genres is really well implemented and the balance between tasks worked perfectly.

Hats off! 5/5

jonathan-lorenz 2018-05-15 15:18

It works well! The tension of the zombies + the tension of the babies makes a great but stressing game. Also you got an extra star for humour because of the baby sounds made by adults :)

jin9310 2018-05-15 15:19

REally cool stuff :) Really made my day. Great Job guys!

kyyninen 2018-05-15 16:11

Interesting take on the plate spinning genre! Other commenters seem to have already provided the positive feedback I was going to give, so I'll just jump right into nitpicks:

There was something weird going on with the audio. When zombo-attacks started, the zombie groan played constantly, even if there weren't any enemies around. I don't know if that's a bug originating from my browser (Waterfox 56.1.0) or feature, but it didn't feel right. Also this kind of game could have really used positional audio - I get that you were going for intentionally creating stress for the player, but having cries and moans coming from respective directions would have enhanced mood and given player some very useful information.

And I managed to despawn the milk bottle at some point. These minor ramblings aside, I really liked the game!

michipantera 2018-05-15 16:23

Thank you @kyyninen for your feedback. About the sound, it is no bug, we intentionally decided to keep the zombie growl ad eternum, once the first zombie appeared, so that the player would always stay alerted and afraid. We playtested the positional audio as you said, and the game was too easy and not achieving the experience we wanted: being stressed by both situations not knowing if a zombie was behind you or not. :D

kyyninen 2018-05-15 16:39

@MichiPantera Ah, that explains it then. Maybe some reverb in that case? πŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈπŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈπŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈ

michipantera 2018-05-15 16:52

Good point.

johnny-turbo 2018-05-15 18:53

Very funny game! I think you did a good job at making a game that fits the theme. Though I did find it pretty difficult to keep all the babies alive especially when large waves of zombies appeared. Game looks, sounds and plays nicely though! Congratulations on making a complete game!
