Nice concept. I really liked the layout and narrative! At some point I had to change the zoom in my browser because the text was cut.

lucien-catonnet 2019-04-30 18:58

I keep getting `Error: no valid storage adapters found`, any idea where that comes from?

psychedelia 2019-05-01 10:16

@lucien-catonnet Hi, thanks for playing (trying to). It appears to be caused by having cookies not allowed in your web browser. Sadly, Twine (at least the Sugarcube story format we worked in) stores the data needed for playing the game in your cookies.

Whitelisting our itchio landing page or enabling cookies in your web browser should help. If not, let us know!

psychedelia 2019-05-01 10:50

@tommyflower Hey, sorry about the text *facepalm*. Hope it didn't spoil the experience for you. Thanks for the feedback!

carraka 2019-05-01 13:24

This layout was super original! Maybe I'm bad at reading comprehension, but at first I thought I was supposed to cut out toxic people, not people who aren't real. Ah well.

I really enjoyed the story, and I didn't have any problems with the text being cut (maybe it's because my screen is really wide?) Suggestions: Make the selectable text a slightly different color, because pixel hunting isn't as fun as making decisions. Make the dialogue choices for the player different when they're first considering whether to reject or keep each person.

Also, when I was a kid, I totally messed up the non-sleeping side of the bed whenever I woke someone up ... just saying.

sbeif 2019-05-01 13:39

This was a really nice experience, I always love trying narrative games during jams and this was well made. I managed to get it almost right on the first try. I'm not seeing a strong connection to the theme but it's still a solid entry, it only needs a soundtrack that matches the situation to really shine. Great job!

vagantb 2019-05-01 14:09

really like the simple way of your artwork, through the visual novel. I had difficulties to get with who i should cut ties. But that's mostly because i'm not a native english.

dudum-lare 2019-05-01 14:23

Wow... powerful, this is my favorite game so far. It touched me. The only thing I think you could improve is to use music :D

jestemstefan 2019-05-01 14:25

This is really great game! I wouldn't be able to sleep without finishing it! Good job!

But theme was far away in the back.

onnofal 2019-05-01 15:21

I've been waiting for this entry whole jam and not being too nosy about the story was worth the experience now; better than all expectations.

tamail 2019-05-01 15:59

@onnofal Thank you! And remember: Ledoveeeec! <3 :)

fat-cat 2019-05-01 17:02

This was very cool! But I wish there were some more clues to who was real or not, I had to guess around 10 times before getting it right

cheesepencil 2019-05-01 17:09

Love these kinds of entries

boxedmeatrevolution 2019-05-01 17:19

Nice to see a narrative game! I thought it was well written, but difficult to tell who were "real". I definitely had a number of guesses before finding the correct combination. The UI was nice and clean as well. Good entry

catangens 2019-05-01 17:20

Huh... That was deep and unsettling at the same time, in the form of metatextual short story of some kind. Well done!

tamail 2019-05-01 17:28

@fat-cat Thank you for the feedback! We realized too late that the game was too hard to play. Just after submitting the game we had the chance to playtest it and nearly no one got it without more clues. We just didn't want to make it too obvious but we kinda did it too hard. Anyway, thanks!

carpin 2019-05-01 18:17

What a curious game. I liked so much. Was a really good experience.

jutjuan 2019-05-01 18:48

The game has a really deep message in it, I really enjoyed it! Some ambient music would be great too.

dimoon-ly 2019-05-01 20:06

Like the kind of art, and I enjoy the message this game brings to me. It just makes me think of my life, people around me, and the cat in front of my dorm.

sver 2019-05-01 20:12

I really enjoyed it. Awesome work!

yukimiitsuka 2019-05-01 21:01

Great work on the black-and-white clean theme and interesting layout. The interaction of clicking the key information is cool.

Only when I finished playing did I realized I should tell by tactile information rather than just guessing what had happened. I wish I could get this clue in the game, perhaps from the doctor. (Maybe there is but I missed?)

And I wish I could turn back to the stories after finishing.

BTW I think CURRENT isn't included in the game.

deepterror 2019-05-01 21:48

Innovative experience, I'm really a big fan of narrative games so I was really glad with this entry. Congrats !

jin47 2019-05-02 10:44

Really cool experience. It takes you quite rapidly into the story and this is a very nice idea! Good job!

jin9310 2019-05-02 11:35

It is nice to see different approaches to this theme and the creation of the games. This is really great entry! Good job

zanar 2019-05-02 17:31

Interesting concept and cool story. I'd like to see that game with further development ! Nice job !

kyavi 2019-05-03 00:21

i love this! :) i'm glad exploring all the different decision trees isn't punishing, but designed in a way that lets you learn as much as you want about everything in the world.

shulololo 2019-05-03 01:35

Just finished playing the game and I thought it was a neat experience! It's a pretty chill game to just read up on the narrative and I enjoyed it, great job!

nyri0 2019-05-03 16:19

Yay I succeeded! Nice concept ;)

nnnikki 2019-05-03 16:20

Wow! Cool! I didn't manage to figure out the solution, but it's certainly an interesting game. I didn't really see the theme though.

qviguier 2019-05-03 16:39

It took me some time to understand the concept but once i did it was some fun time sleuthing around to understandwho is real or not. the real gut punch is the girl when you cut her out tho.

great submition.

limejuice123 2019-05-03 16:45

Best ending first time yay! Anyway lovely game with cool new ideas, needed to use my brain a bit as well. Would love some ambient music just to add to the mood a bit.

alex-kpojb 2019-05-03 17:43

Thanks for this game. I really like the idea... Great job! You might release it somewhere like steam. Its really nice.

wassim 2019-05-03 20:37

Amazing concept, I love the idea and how the story is well connected and requires full attention with the story characters even the cat! Great game!

rafa-braga 2019-05-03 22:01

Nice Aesthetic,i liked a lot. Love games focused on dialogue and relationship. I dont got how the game fit´s the jam theme, but im not native english speaker, so maybe i just missed it. The game objective is not clear to me too. Maybe with a good piano music this game could be so muxh better. Anyway, great job my friend! o/

standaaad 2019-05-04 09:23

NOW I finally understand, what those doodles on the whiteboard were about...well, not really :D. Nevertheless, I love your way of storytelling, it perfectly shows, how powerfull tool can simple text be.

prodigalson 2019-05-04 13:37

This is a fun way to tell a story allowing me to put the pieces together as I read them in which ever order I want and I can see how my choices change the narrative. I really would've loved to have some sound in the midst of all of this. Mainly because I'm not much of a book person and this is more or less a book reading game.

Nothing wrong with that at all but it would've enhanced the experience for me and immersed me more if one or more of these are present: - Music (maybe even changes a bit depending on the scenario being played out) - Sound effects even if its for ambiance (girl laughing/singing/sound of brushing teeth, sound of a coffee shop or dinner, cat meows, sound of a busy area people passing around the beggar) - Voice acting (though I understand this may change the intent of allowing the reader to make their own)

Keep it up :)

zuzupd 2019-05-04 14:31

I really like it. But it is really a pity that the game does not have audio. With the audio, the atmosphere would be perfect.

falak 2019-05-05 17:07

A very intense experience. It could be better with some music. Great entry! Good luck!

jjjjason 2019-05-07 04:46

Current level of aesthetic is great. I would love more of it (sounds basically) but I understand what can't be done in a jam session.

I agree with the puzzle being pretty difficult--in retrospect the solution does make sense, but it is pretty hard to get there. Also, I flipped the fuck out when they said it was Doctor Jason, thought there were some browser identification shenanigans going on haha.

bakenshake 2019-05-08 03:57

Very cool interactive narrative experience. It is pretty difficult to tell who are the friends and who aren't. I went through almost every variation, I believe, but I love the concept and layout. It's well executed. I wish there was music, though? Great job, though!

grllle 2019-05-10 18:50

"You trust people too much." Yeah, that's me :) Nice concept and well done!

joror 2019-05-11 15:50

Very cool concept & execution! Exploration of reality and drama, I like it! Some music or sounds would really add to the atmosphere - as a Jam game, you could look into some Creative Commons assets for that! :)

balance686 2019-05-11 18:06

Interesting game! I enjoyed the writing. I don't typically play interactive narrative games so it was refreshing. I used a lot of trial and error/multiple attempts. Not sure if that's due to ambiguity or my lack of skill :P Some audio would sealed the deal on the mood. Nice one!

nathant 2019-05-11 21:26

Fun narrative puzzle. Enjoyed the minimalist art and how the stories came together. Quick to learn for a less conventional approach. Well done.

webox 2019-05-11 21:49

Wow, you're a great writer. Everything is so well written. ASs many state, some moody music would've been amazing. You did an awesome job!. Also, images loaded a bit too slow for me, compress them a bit maybe?. Great job! You're amazing!

petitpois 2019-05-12 05:39

Story driven game, i liked it. nice entry

jakupf 2019-05-12 13:13

Very unique idea, nice job!

gamefive 2019-05-13 10:01

I didn't understand my native language in its entirety, not in English. But I liked the graphic and epic feeling of the game. I will recommend it to those who understand English well. ^^

foumart 2019-05-15 00:02

This game was so interesting and so well written, I liked every sentence and silhouette.. thought I didn't get it the first time, as I was not paying that much attention on all the details and I didn't knew what to expect. But after re-reading everything got to place :) Very well executed!

duke 2019-05-15 10:44

Not really my cup of tea, but I really appreciate the presentation style. I already played some "novel"-style games this jam but this one looks and feels the best. Very well thought through!

coleslaughter 2019-05-18 06:37

Aaaayyyyeee, I finally woke up! :)

I like the concept of this, it really did a good job attempting to sow doubt in my mind about who was real and who was fake. I kind of wish the final confrontations gave me a better idea about who was real and who was fake though. On my second playthrough, I was more critical in examining the initial talking phase, which helped me identify the phonies, but there wasn't really much indication during the confrontation phase, and for a first-time player, it's kind of hard to keep all of that information in your head at once.

Love the unique concept here. Not sure how it fits the theme, but I always appreciate against-the-norm games like this!

von-himik 2019-05-18 13:26

Hello from MFF UK Gamedev! I didn’t play your game in the Joystick bar then, but now I’m fixing it. XD

An interesting concept, a well-written (albeit short) story with correctly “guns hung on the wall”. I like the fact that you can get to the correct ending by working with your head, and not accidentally choosing the answers. I also liked minimalistic, but stylish art.

There have already been written that the right music could improve the atmosphere. And this is true, although in reality it would be a delicate matter - to pick up something that worked for the atmosphere, but did not distract.

And I would like to point out that I see potential in this. The Steam is full of visual stories and even text quests that are not even as good as your work. :)

sergi-montaner 2019-05-18 20:53

I'm not into text based adventures but this one is very intriging. Good job! (haven't succeded yet)

msiddeek 2019-05-20 01:36

I like the writing a lot. I also like how all the characters are surrounding the screen like that. It gives a an eerie sense of mistrust, which multiplies the feeling you want to give with the game. Good job!
