My first LD game, yey, have fun!

odin 2018-08-14 10:38

The game is very hard but I had fun, although I have never managed to go beyond the second level ^^ '

glad you enjoyed it :)

Very interesting idea. It was really, really difficult. I didn't win. Not a single time. No matter how many times I tried. (You don't even know how long I tried). That made me think: Can you even win this game? Is it even possible to form a perfect heart and win?

Also, I had some weird experiences while playing. The pieces sometimes "teleported" and made the pieces go all over the place causing me to lose faster. Well, it might just be because I was too shaky... Haha.

Anyways, challenging and nice little game. Nice job.

Yes, you can, but it's hard, really hard, but it's very satisfing if you win, glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, i'm aware that tey teleport, sadly i could not fix that :(, but if you drag the tiles using the buttons, (the little circles) it should work Sorry, i'm new in programming and the gaming industry

Congrats on your first LD game!

The idea was simple, but works effectively for the theme, and was implemented well. The game, however, is *extremely hard*, at least while using a track pad - some difficulty options to slow down the walls would be nice!

Graphics are extremely simple, but effective - but some more flair would make this game stand out. If you enjoy this type of minimalist design, maybe take a look at other games with similar style and see how they managed to make it more visually appealing (off the top of my head: Thomas Was Alone, Super Hexagon, both use simple geometric shapes, but have really interesting art styles).

Overall, it's a good first entry, and a great starting point!

@jsmcag Thanks for the support, i will start looking at the tips u gave me, i'm pretty bad at art and sound design, so they might help me! Glad you enjoyed it!

I think this game really has potential.. it is just too hard for me. If you rework the pace a little bit, the game would be much better. My best score was 29.5 secs in the first level ^^

tozzo4316 2018-08-17 16:26

@unfinished thanks for the feedback, i was going to do that, but since i live in Italy, and these days the fricking earthquake had to happen, i couldn't do it. I'm going to work on it now!

balance686 2018-08-17 20:10

Nice first entry! You made good use of the theme! The second level is sadistically hard though lol I was determined to beat it but couldn't do it after MANY tries :P I saw you put out an easier version but I played the bug fix one because technically only bug fixes are allowed during the review period. Also you might want to opt out of the audio category since there is no audio. I think the game has potential. You should definitely expand on it after the jam!

tozzo4316 2018-08-18 14:42

@balance686 ty for the feedback, i didn't know i could toggle the audio rating, thanks for the advise!

It's a nice idea and it looked alright but for me the high difficulty from the start made it not so fun. I think it needs something more added to this good core mechanic. You could maybe make the level easier but have little minions or idk heart strings messing up your work. This would make it a bit more dynamic

Well done for your first game jam! The first level was a lot of fun, buy wow was that difficulty spike brutal. Would have loved to see some more levels to lessen that jump. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! Here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=02h28m30s
