This was my first idea too

And you executed it pretty well, the mechanics are flawless. At the last map I just jumped around for a few minutes, that's how enjoyable the mechanics are

Nicely designed maps, wish there would be more. Keep it up!

chicomcastro 2018-08-15 01:12

@tudvari, thank you so much! I love this mechanics too, it's delicious, haha

I'm planning to make some levels and improve this game so far, really motivated, thank you!

2018-08-15 15:11

Very nice game, I would love to play more levels of this, and see the mechanics explored even further! Nice job! Theme 5/5

markd 2018-08-16 21:11

Game plays well, spacebar counts even when already in the air? got stuck in the last level as I could clip of the screen. Lastly some audio would be nice, even if it was just for jumping. Overall nice game.

robo-chiz 2018-08-16 21:31

Really fun, I enjoy the little flip he did as he jumped. Good twist on the idea. Keep it up!

chicomcastro 2018-08-16 21:35

@markd oh, yes, that's a little bug, sorry :x I'll fix this as soon as possible! Thanks!

markd 2018-08-16 21:41

@chicomcastro If you make a wall in the same way you did on the left side, the problem is fixed :p

chicomcastro 2018-08-16 21:48

@markd the idea was to put an easter egg on otherside of right wall, haha. Anyway, the last level (6th) is just for jumping around and explore the mechanics :)

chicomcastro 2018-08-16 21:48

@robo-chiz thank you so much!

superpokeunicorn 2018-08-16 22:34

This game's pretty neat. It has a very clever interpretation of the theme. Restricting the number of jumps a player has forces them to take a more thoughtful approach. That said, the control scheme feels a bit awkward when dashing. It would make more sense to control movement with the arrow keys and control dashing and jumping with the other hand. The visuals are pretty good looking, but it was disappointing to not hear any music or sound effects. Despite some flaws, this is an overall solid game. Nice work.

nam-nguyen 2018-08-16 23:10

Hey I like your art style a lot, you have done quite a lot in a short amount of time :O great job! Regarding the platforming element, I find the jump a bit too short, I get stuck at level 3 (I think) where I have 2 spaces and I cant get on the upper platform, the jump was too short. I simply cant think of any other way to pass that round. But as far as I have gone, I really enjoyed the character movement and animation. The transition between scenes was a bit abrupt, but that could be quickly fixed in the post-jam version. Great entry, keep it up!

chicomcastro 2018-08-16 23:31

@superpokeunicorn, well said, right ctrl as dashing was a bad idea, but you could use left mouse button click as well. I think controlling movement and jumping with one hand and dashing with the other. But thank you very much for this feedback, I'll fix this as soon as possible!

And you said all about the music, I really really wanna put some sounds, but don't have time.

Thanks for playing!

chicomcastro 2018-08-16 23:34

@nam-nguyen, spoiler alert:

The idea is to dash after the last jump, haha. I try to explore dashing as an alternative and efficient solution to running out the space bar.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

roberth332 2018-08-17 01:25

Good feeling controls they are responsive and the character is smooth. Great job. I would also love to see more levels.

tom7 2018-08-17 02:43

Great interpretation of the theme! I think I won (I got to the level with 100 jumps?), and I had a fun time. :) Cute graphics!

chicomcastro 2018-08-17 04:01

@tom7, yes, you won, haha! There's just six levels for now :) Thank you for the feedback

@roberth332 Thank you, I really wanna polish this a little more and make more levels! Thanks for the feedback

hammers 2018-08-17 07:56

Great work! Had fun playing through the levels you have there. Would obviously love to see more but what you've got certainly shows off the mechanic well.

Nice work!

prema 2018-08-17 08:04

Love the ninja style character. Good idea with grab a ledge mechanic. No sound? thats because the ninja is deaf:) Good job

chicomcastro 2018-08-18 19:57

Thanks, @hammers and @prema!

justinmullin 2018-08-18 21:06

Really smooth platforming, and I'm a sucker for anything involving wall jumps, which you've implemented really nicely. The limited jumps was an interesting mechanic, and the dash felt pretty great too. I wish there had been more levels (and was confused for quite a while when I reached the 6th level and couldn't find the exit), but I understand the time pressures of course! What's here is really polished, and I hope you get a chance to do more with platforming in the future, 'cause your physics here are spot on.

tero-pulkkinen 2018-08-20 03:40

i dunno how to play this. The player jumps off the cliff recardless of what i do...

balance686 2018-08-20 04:08

Fun game! I like the art style and the parallax scrolling with the background. The control is slick and being able to slide down the wall is nice. I dig the limited number of jumps mechanic you implemented and how it ties into the theme. The only thing that's missing is sound. Great job!

chicomcastro 2018-08-20 04:18

Thank you very much, @justinmullin and @balance686!

@tero-pulkkinen, the idea is to cross the phase (get in the right side of the screen) with limited number of jumps (space). You have to found a way (yes, there is one or more way to reach the objective) just moving (WASD), jumping (SPACE - limited) and dashing (mouse click button or right ctrl). Hope this helps :)

Thanks for playing, guys!

jesterseraph 2018-08-20 04:23

Very fun game. The controls are intuitive enough that each level I couldn't beat, I quickly figured out which new commands (wall jump, dash, double air jump...). Great work!

larzan 2018-08-20 13:29

Great game, the animations worked really well with the movement and felt very ... satisfying for lack of a better word. The puzzles were short but one had to think how to overcome the problem of the missing space(bars) Very well done indeed :)

wowa 2018-08-24 06:34

It took a bit time to get used of the controls, but it's good and i had fun with it :)
