Man what have you done? Good game! Really fun to play!
Man what have you done³hahaha, really funny!
Enjoyed a lot playing this. Really funny.
Fun game and a solid entery Keep it up Good Luckš
Has a South-parky feel to it. Just dont market it to animal lover :P
Nice game, fun to play. Collision seems a bit buggy, I couldn't always get why I lost HP.
Also, if I try to move animals to grinder I will get attacked. There should maybe be some time before next attack so you can push at least some animals to grinder?
Very nice game! Loved the cartoonish art style and game concept. I thought that pushing corpses down to the meat grinder felt quite tedious and not very fun. Would be cool if that idea was further integrated into combat, e.g. weapons and enemies having an influence on it. Collisions were slightly buggy but for the most part they were good. Great job! :)
I scored 62! My strategy was to kill all of the animals except for the last one, and then use the free time to push all of the other animals in. I also killed most animals while standing in the grinder. Something that slaughtered the fun (pun intended), however, was the collisions. I felt as if I was taking damage for no reason, and I had to keep myself positioned extremely far away from anything; the dead animals seemed to be hurting me too! Good collisions are essential for a top down shooter game, but I think when that is fixed, this game will be amazing. Great entry!
I notice some bugs with the colliders but overall the game it's pretty fun.
I dig it! I like the art style and the audio was fitting. The mechanics you implemented make good use of the theme. The concept is funny and the game is generally fun to play. I'd like to see the colliders reduced in size because you take damage when the animals are still a distance away from you. Pushing the animals into the grinder could be a bit more player friendly as well. Also the text elements of the UI looked small compared to the health/lives when playing in 4K. There seems to be a spawning bug when you play after seeing game over. Nothing would spawn for me unless I exited the game and started it again. Nice submission!
This game would be great if you explained it how to play it.
Great game! Very cool and interesting! :D
I.. Um. It coming right at me I swear. I think I need a shower now.
Good job getting a game like this made within the deadline, would have liked to have seen a score table of some sort to close the game loop and give me a reason to replay.
Nice drawing style and theme. Also fun for a while. I don't see problem with animal cruelty, as animals are treated more humanely in this game than they are on farms in real life. And at least they get dignity of fighting back. As for some flaws: Bullets don't travel through the center of crosshair. Bullets not going through carcasses is a pain, but I guess it goes with the theme. Since bullets do hit dead animals, some sort of a juicy blood splash and sound would make this less annoying and feel more rewarding. Pushing carcasses into the grinder is least fun part, it is a slow process and you're constantly hindered by other annoyances. Perhaps the whole thing would be livelier if you were able to push dead animals a good distance by shooting them, but that is just a theory.
The pigs look like walking bags full of pink stuff. :D Joking aside, it was a small little cool concept. Also, add more blood. :D
This is so nasty XD Very cool mood, and humor. I think it is a bit too hard to push the bodies in the grinder, but overall the game is well made, good job!
I liked the art and the music. I felt the aiming/shooting wasn't very precise and I'm not sure I like the characters ability to go off screen (which is just my personal preference). Also in the game over screen I'd recommend an option to exit the game? Unless there is one and I missed it. I tried hitting escape but no main menu or anything showed up and had to use the task manager. Thank you for sharing your game!
Great art style and sound. Good job. I like the mechanics as well. Keep it up!
Please do check my game maybe youāll like it and leave some feedback.
Neat little idea and executed well! The mechanic of having to get around the dead animals to kill live animals was neat, although got very frustrating at times. I wish there was a way to clear the dead animals every now and then, I know that defeats the purpose kind of but if all the dead animals from previous rounds were cleared each round leaving only the ones from the round that just happened, then the difficulty would still be there as each wave increases in size and thus the amount of dead animals on the ground would grow each round, but not by as much. I'm not sure if any of that made sense, but it's just a thought. Well Done! :D
Cross which is not corresponding to the projectile path is a little bit confusing
Pushing felt a little tedious and the crosshair doesn't actually point to where you shoot, but it was cool! I ended up falling into the grinder myself a lot, and the fact that the dead animals block bullets was a good mechanic, really pushing the theme. Good work!
The absolute coolest thing to discover while playing this game, was i got the point immediately to start the game, and,... the moving corpses. That was so cool. I wasn't expecting that at all. NICE ended up with this. https://www.screencast.com/t/HC34f5HVz
Nice game, Love how everything is balanced! Good luck, Don't forget to take a look at ours if you don't mind and see what it's like when we just focused on graphics in this game jam! Game Link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42a
Very nice game, the music fit it perfectly and the gameplay was fun, the collision of dead animals was indeed a massive issue and it was far too slow to push them into the grinder. However it was very fun, the style was lovely and it was all executed very well! Congratulations!
This is a cool idea, and there's a lot of nice little touches.
I have a few critiques on little stuff:
- The gun feels a bit limp. I held the button the entire time. The screenshake on the gun shot is a nice idea in theory, but in practice because I am holding the button all day this screen shake doesn't "feel" like anything, it's just a nonstop pulsating camera, which didn't feel very nice to me. I think this may combine with the way the gun doesn't recoil and shoots really tiny bullets to disassociate the screenshake from the act of shooting.
- The main mechanic of pushing the animals into the grinder to reclaim space is a really cool idea. I like the way it combines the sick narrative with strategic concerns: do I position myself to handle the waves, or to claim space? However I didn't feel like you capitalized on this potential in your idea. When attempting to push animals into the grinder, I found it too awkward. I would push in the few seconds between waves, but the circle colliders (I assume?) would slide off to the side unless I was exactly perfect. I just never got good at pushing animals in, so I basically abandoned the main idea of the game and simply didn't do it. I think the way the grinder "disappears" corpses instead of rewarding me with the spectacle I expected was another small reason I felt it wasn't worth doing. Since you have the bullets blocked by corpses, maybe you should make it so that the gun itself is a handy way to push corpses in. Another way is to prevent them from sliding off to the side so easily when I push them... for example by changing them to square colliders with rotation prevented maybe? Or maybe there is another button to kick corpses a bit. I feel something is needed to make it feel more fluid, fun, and effective to move the bodies.
So cool idea for the theme, fun sick theme, and I appreciated the details like blood splats and other juice, but I couldn't help feeling like this had even more potential. (I played only the jam version).
Oh - also, I totally walked myself into the meat grinder just as it went off, which was a hoot!
Really liked playing it!! Its like a animal apocalipsis. Very good job!! Keep on it!
kkkk really funny to play it, the gun ovment is strange, and it could be funnier if it were a machete or a slaughter house gun (electric or compressed air piston)... but it was a nice idea!
Tons of fun! Not sure if it was just me, but I felt the aim reticle was a bit off center. In any case, great work on a solid, fun game!
Thanks @ohmmus. It is not just you. Many others have pointed that out. The reticle was a last minute feature I added without really testing it. It actually is just a rough visual that locks the mouse cursor in place as you rotate, so its not accurate at all, which throws aiming off quite a bit.
Thanks for playing
