LD38 — A Small World

Space Colonist's Tiny World by SoKette 2017-05-18T00:01:05Z

Nice little game.

LD39 — Running out of Power

False Game by PoV 2017-08-05T18:24:32Z

Fun, but exhausting to play.

Note that my "ratings given" increased when I rated this game. This might not be desirable behaviour.

Power Draw by LukeZaz 2017-08-16T15:25:08Z

I liked slow shooting mechanic.

Power the House by wowods 2017-08-06T14:00:38Z

Innovative mechanic. I would like to see full game (post-Jam).

Bolt World by Linus 2017-08-06T13:20:56Z

Nice game.

Biggest problem was that when I got bigger I small balls become invisible, but arrow still point at them (so basically there is no arrow and you don't see any balls on your screen). When searching for closest ball you should ignore balls smaller than some percent of your size.

Mr Mayor's Energy Crisis by HuvaaKoodia 2017-08-16T13:01:57Z

Very fun game. I don't usually like management games but this one was OK.

I had nuclear meltdown on April 31st.

Unpowerer by Garywiss 2017-08-06T13:55:36Z

Nice interpretation of theme. Thing that annoyed me the most is that boss is faster than player.

Battery Block: Bypass by PietPtr 2017-08-02T17:36:19Z

OK game, not really innovative and puzzles are a bit lame. It is quite obvious that you didn't have enough time. Level restart button (or key that restarts level) would be nice. Try learning how to use some Python "compilers" (PyInstaller or cx_freeze), it's a pain in the ass to use but more people play your games (and you don't have to make executables immediately). Nice to see someone else is working in Python (and using PyGame). Will you participate in next PyWeek?

Jumping Jehosaphat by jharler 2017-08-02T17:08:54Z

Failed to start at first, but run properly second time. Nice little puzzle.

LudumsWitch by Tommy 2017-08-13T18:44:31Z

Great game overall.

There were too few enemies so it was hard to preserve the circle. Also I could use power ups only once.

You Discharge, You Lose by boddiul 2017-08-06T14:11:16Z

I liked the mechanics.

It might be nice if you could use cable like grappling hook (just suggestion). I really hope that you will continue to work on this game after Jam.

Take Me Home by Fengol 2017-08-13T19:06:38Z

Nice concept but too unfinished to be called a game.

Hope you will have more time next time.

The Last Miner by bluellama 2017-08-13T19:57:14Z

Great game.

There is a bug: sometimes after you release mouse button thruster is still active. I also think that music from main menu should be played thru entire game.

Lost in Deep Space by Emicarn 2017-08-05T22:48:02Z

It is a good game for your first Ludum Dare, you will improve over time, but don't expect too high ratings.

Besides the fact that laser is useless and that I'm not sure if game is winnable, it was problematic to remember coordinates of object because new object appeared.

Also you should play and rate others' game to get more votes.

The World's Worst Segway by doomshmuck 2017-08-06T14:46:29Z

Great game.

There are few annoying things though: - Car is slower than player so you have to wait the car sometimes. - Building and roads have similar colour - Collisions are tricky

The devil works in an open space by Greet 2017-08-05T18:14:10Z

Nice game though it was a bit too easy. Also enemies aren't affected by tables and chairs and bookshelf is not destroyable.

Power de Poisson by Jajo 2017-08-13T19:38:41Z

Nice little game.

Tower of Morale by Pixetrichor 2017-08-05T16:16:12Z

Nice game, Level 4 was hard.

Note that some people won't bother too much with level passing and will give up so it is wise to implement skip level so they see all levels and end of the game.

NOT ALONE by Xephrys 2017-08-02T16:35:41Z

I got "Good Ending" and then I tried again, but ending music was still playing (so game lost a bit of its mood). Does game have any other endings? Also, if music isn't yours, are you allowed to enter Compo?

Unfueled by spudboy 2017-08-16T13:15:52Z

Fun little game.

Very polished for first-timer.

Fading Points by SMILEY_4_ 2017-08-06T13:43:34Z

Nice game, but some movements seem random.

Rat blasteroid by Massimog 2017-08-13T19:18:49Z

Well teleportation mechanic is really interesting.

I think shrinking the player or decreasing number of enemies would improve the game.

ULTIMATE PROSELYTISM & MIRACLES SIMULATOR 2017: THE MOVIE THE GAME by Reuh 2017-08-05T13:45:17Z

Nice game.

So realistic graphics, especially Earth falling apart. Just kidding, but really funny game.

I don't know if it is a glitch or not but when you jump, hold up arrow and are on ladders, you go up. I really liked that mechanic.

Sounds are really nice.

P.S.: Unicorn is the best.

Minor Jump by colozz 2017-08-03T21:30:44Z

Nice little game. Jumping mechanic is really cool.

Power Station by Augusto 2017-08-05T16:27:50Z

Nice game, restart button in the end would be nice.

RulesQuest by Adrien Dittrick 2017-08-01T22:40:10Z

Nice game. Not really my type of game but nevertheless it was fun to play. After I found out I can move my castle with hand power it became too easy.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Playable Hams by PoV 2017-12-05T16:03:23Z

Nice game, a bit buggy.

Why does rating unfinished games increases balance (is it a bug?)?

Disease Simulator 2017 by Knowledge 2017-12-06T21:45:39Z

@pebkac @Poller I accidentally copied entire linux version and ton of other useless shit inside windows build so it grew so big. Now it is less than 10mb.

Farming Sim LD40 by pebkac 2017-12-10T00:47:45Z

My cow died and it was not even 700 years old.

I didn't really like the game (humour was the best thing but still lacking). It is solid cookie clicker, but it is only cookie clicker. Thought making a game is impressive accomplishment by itself and especially for Ludum Dare so don't be discouraged.

Boiler Room Defense by cerno-b 2017-12-16T17:38:45Z

Very innovative game. You should maybe change the colour of the edges so that enemies and ice gets more visible (except if you intended it to be that way).

Superhero Problems by boddiul 2017-12-12T22:23:13Z

Really meaningful game. It was a bit repetitive after a while though.

Eatly by zenwraight 2017-12-16T22:26:02Z

Fun, nice and quite balanced but too damn short. Maybe a bit too easy, but definitely too short.

Party House - have a party and clean up before your parents get home! by Michal Ferko 2017-12-12T20:22:05Z

Not many things to say.

__WHY THE HELL ARE THERE 10 DRUNK BUSINESSMAN IN MY HOUSE WHEN I INVITED 0 PEOPLE???__

At first I tried to put everything in the trash. Cans, plates, pizza (where should I put pizza?), people and amazing leafblower. I guess I should reevaluate my standards.

Bring Your Own Bullets by AlexHoratio 2017-12-12T22:33:36Z

It becomes too hard too fast, maybe a little bit slower.

Other than that awesome game, I'd like to see post-Jam version.

Potdemon by RockhopperGames 2017-12-12T21:49:33Z

I couldn't really understand the game.

Jingle Bells Defense by Kyrv19 2017-12-06T19:59:48Z

The game is not bad (2-3) but controls make it hard to play (I did't use controler though so I only speak for keyboard mouse controls). I also could get why snowmen sometimes have that shield (it seemed because of dead bodies of other snowmen but it didn't always work as I expected).

Lucky Drop by svntax 2017-12-16T16:53:10Z

Interesting, maybe you should lower initial money, I played for a long time to see how can I win (no success).

Birden by Logan 2017-12-11T00:25:13Z

The game is great. I have very few complains. The biggest complain is that it isn't really "the more you have, the worse it is", more birds often help.

It would be nice if you included reset level key and skip level key (which is very useful for people who couldn't pass some level and level selecting). Wall jump felt a bit odd but it wasn't really a problem.

I hope to see post LD game.

Intruder alert by Falk Bruskeland 2017-12-16T17:20:59Z

OK idea but several design flaws make game boring. Stairs are badly designed (you can't kill slimes in many cases) .

Maybe you should include cheat key for those who can't get to higher level but want to see what happens next (not in the real version, only for Ludum Dare).

A Tale about Tail by barsoosayque 2017-12-12T19:46:52Z

Nice game, but has some serious flaws.

I didn't need skill to pass the game, I needed __patience__. You must repeat some actions several times because if you do it all at once, you'll be too slow and get killed. Game becomes __repetitive__ because of this.

I encountered some weird error on level 3. I had to restart the game. There was no level select so I had to play first 2 levels again. It was annoying. I know that implementing level select takes some time and might be a problem during the Jam so I suggest you implementing __next level key__.

RQ5: backup-dancer rampage! by Adrien Dittrick 2017-12-06T19:47:32Z

Awesome game. I've seen similar mechanic but you used it uniquely. Only bad thing I noticed is bad response time, it seems that game ignores some keys pressed.

ADDICT by Steven Garberg 2017-12-12T19:06:54Z

I think that drugs don't work that way.

Soundtrack was the best thing in game but other sounds didn't seem so good.

I think you should make collision area for hand bigger. You should also lock mouse in web version. Even in windows version, mouse behaves a bit weird.

Trapped by PoundTheGroundStudios 2017-12-16T15:35:27Z

I wanted to explore place but didn't have time. Many unused things in game.

Lost Orbs by Masthiks 2017-12-27T14:10:44Z

Awesome concept. Would like to see full game.

Bad things I noticed: no restart button, last level was a bit unclear. I recommend adding next level button in LD games for people who get stuck.

Corridor by aa4z 2017-12-22T00:03:13Z

Nice idea.

Game is very annoying though because of one bug: my movements randomly stuck (player was constantly going left/up).

The Speed of Greed by C1FR1 2017-12-11T00:59:59Z

Game is quite bad, but playable and that is quite an achievement for your first LD. There are so many thing bad in this game, but you probably know many of them so I won't write them down.

If you continue making games for LD, your skill will improve rapidly. So keep trying. You might want to try making a Jam entry (it's a bit easier and more relaxing).

Time is Bad by BudgieM2 2017-12-10T23:43:48Z

Fun game, like other have already said, resetting when dying is useless.

It seems that with time increase, game just becomes harder. I always had enough time if I didn't die. Maybe you should make level a bit longer.

Wall jumping was a bit weird. Level should always start in same condition (I often timed starting the level). New enemies appearing seems bad idea to me.

Fatty jumper by Marius 2017-12-27T12:31:50Z

Nice small game. You should add exit button.

LD42 — Running out of space

Slaughter House by masterkrepta 2018-08-16T23:22:09Z

Nice game, fun to play. Collision seems a bit buggy, I couldn't always get why I lost HP.

Also, if I try to move animals to grinder I will get attacked. There should maybe be some time before next attack so you can push at least some animals to grinder?

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Dark thoughts by Knowledge 2021-04-28T17:46:34Z

@mujina I think it is common practice on linux that user installs runtime libraries so to avoid duplication. You already have SDL2 probably, you just have to install SDL2_image. To install SDL2_image run `sudo apt install libsdl2-image-2.0-0` you may also need to install `libsdl2-ttf-2.0-0` the same way. Thank you for your feedback.

Hellscape by ToxicComputer 2021-04-28T18:02:17Z

I couldn't find a way to shoot. Is there any or it's not implemented?

Hellscape by ToxicComputer 2021-04-28T21:54:54Z

Don't worry, I definitely intended to replay the game if I had missed such an important feature.

Core gameplay is quite fun but technical problems can really destroy the fun. Bugs are the most obvious ones. I couldn't fire from time to time. Level look's buggy, walls are sometimes strange.

Sometimes portal can appear at the beggining of the level. I would advise to either make sure that portal is generated at the "end" of level or require player to kill most enemies. Being able to finish the game without using guns clearly shows the need to change something about that. It was also a bit to easy to just frantically wander aroung the map and find portal (maybe add collision with enemies).

Player feedback is lacking. I understand that it is hard to polish games for LDJAM (I never succeed). Despite that it is important to provide visual/audio feedback for such fast game. I never had a feel about how much health I got. It almost seemed like I was randomly getting and losing health. Invisible guns reloading added to guns feeling buggy. I also often didn't notice when guns changed.

Platformer levels felt underutilised. Being able to regenerate room made me fell less in danger (especially because my health changed that way). Space key should be used for important and often used action like jumping in platformer part. By setting game-breaking action on such a key seems like mistake.

All that being said, I think your game is good. No one can polish everything in game jam and it is hard to predict such problems with so little playtesting available. Lack of time is a problem for everyone.

Maze generator is nice and promising. Even in this rudimentary and buggy stage it was fun to play the game, so you got fast paced shooting somewhat right (I would say you headed in the right direction with it) and you don't have to change that part of the game (just tweak some things to get pacing you want and it will be fun).

You definitely achieved something and your game could become nice full-fledged game.

Deep Dreams by Diebanez 2021-04-29T22:03:26Z

Nice take on theme. Levels were challenging enough to be fun. At first I ran it on weaker graphics card so it was hard to see what is happening in the last few levels because of low framerate (maybe optimisation material but don't take my word).

When running on better specs it was still chaotic (level before one ball level) and random wandering tactics covers most easier levels. In some levels I could get to 80% before objects even start getting close to me. Some later levels had too little space I would say (screen seemed a bit unutilised).

Also it can be confusing if I am going to previous or next level. I also couldn't always tell when I was struck multiple times what happened (maybe shorten indicator especially if it doesn't mean immunity and add death indicator).

Finnaly, exiting your game from controls or when playing seems impossible except by force.

All those remarks are actually very minor, I liked the graphics and the story is nice. Mucis was pleasant and fitting. Each level is different (it is really a shame that players don't see them much when they can rush most levels) and designed quite good.

Bubbly by Kaish 2021-05-04T18:12:17Z

Game is very promising and has several very interesting ideas that work well together. Unfortunately it has several very annoying problems.

There are 3 enemies each unique, each has a nice idea and each has a flaw which ruins it a bit.

Spiders are very cool but thier string was often invisible until I was very close to them. I don't know if that was a glitch or intended behaviour but dying because of spawning spiders directly beneath you is very annoying.

Mole monsters or whatever they don't have visible enough indicator when they are going out. I'm not sure that it is great idea to have them wake up only when you walk over them because it is quite hard to kill them that way. Possible solutions might be that they are visible always and get out soon after you step on them or have them always be outside or have them go outside in regular intervals. Also they spawn beneath crystals :(

When we talk about inability to kill enemy ghosts are number one. You can't shoot through walls and they are often hiding in walls, especially when they are under you. Changing their pathfinding or making them use walls only when neccesary or having "ghost bullets" or some sort of mechanism for killing things in walls might fix things. Ghosts (which can go through walls) are either very hard enemy or hard to design well.

I sometimes had problems with shooting close range. Weapons would maybe work somewhat better in more open spaces / bigger spaces. Killing monsters was kinda pointless too. Adding some effect like additional points or ball getting stronger or something would be cool.

Music was great but I had to turn the volume down because ghosts sound like annoying fly (everything else sounds great). Ambient is great.

Despite all the flaws game was enjoyable most of the time so it really is promising idea and execution wasn't that bad there is just room for improvement.
