Not a bad game for your first game jam. A couple of tips.

While I like that you show the entire level at the start, game the player an indication what is happening. At first, I thought that my character started falling through the floor or something.

Secondly, give the level a couple of waypoint or buffer zones. In some cases, one mis-jump could end you back almost at the bottom of the level. And because it is hard to see where we are jumping to, grouping the challenges and preventing the players from having to start over would improve upon the game.

Good job and keep it up.

Good for a first try! The speed of the jump is a little fast, and the camera can give heart ache! try to change these aspects! DO IT !

ryomayonnaise 2018-08-14 12:20

Ok thanks for your advices! I'll try to improve it !

larnin 2018-08-14 23:15

I can't event make the first well :'( I got to the 2nd trampoline only one time in 5 min. Like robo said, your jump speed the speed of the jump is a lot too fast, you can't see what you do. The graphics are cool. With some little tweek, you can have a cool doodle jump remake :)

theludovyc 2018-08-15 18:55

@ryomayonnaise L'idée de passer en revu tout le niveau au démarrage est excellente ;) !!!

ryomayonnaise 2018-08-15 21:46

@larnin I gonna make a post jam version better equilibrated ! @theludovyc Merci !

Looks like you forgot to use time-based movement instead of frame-based movement. Meaning you need to multiply the movement speed by deltatime every tick, otherwise the game runs a lot faster on other computers, such as mine, which have either higher refresh rates or stronger CPU/GPUs.

TL;DR: The game runs super fast for me and my character is zooming across the screen!

biebras 2018-08-19 20:53

Nice game, challenging one, but I missed the audio and the mahanics was kindda poor

ryomayonnaise 2018-08-23 22:04

@batmanasb Thanks for testing, i will do an upgrade for this ! @biebras Thanks for the feedback, i will add some features in my next upgrade !

sauski 2018-08-23 22:56

The change in momentum at the top of the jump feels like it happens too quickly, it gives the jump an odd feeling. If you're planning on updating or making a platformer in the future, and aren't afraid of a little math, check out this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG9SzQxaCm8

Not bad for your first entry. The jumping mechanic felt new, although a bit weird since I didn't feel like I was bouncing from the trampolines but instead used them to increase jump height. Some sounds and music would have went a long way. Anyway i got to the clock and had some fun in the process.

mohua 2018-08-23 23:27

Not a bad game! It may have just been me but I felt the jumping mechanic was a little off and it was really really difficult to jump from trampoline to trampoline. I also recommend WASD controls and maybe click to jump, but that just may be my own preference. Thank you for sharing your game!

balance686 2018-08-24 01:19

Props for going comp on your first jam! This was my second but I haven't dared to try yet because both jams I finished right at the end :P The graphics are simple but pleasant. I saw that @batmanasb recommended you scale your movement by dt and that is definitely essential. I also think you should only have 1 jump per button down so you don't accidentally jump off an edge by holding the button too long. I made it to the clock after a few unforgiving falls lol congrats on your first LD - looking forward to what you make next time!

Nice work on your first jam! The jumping was a bit clunky and the level design could have been done better. But all of those problems can be fixed with a bit more time spent on the game. Also, can you check out my first jam? Thanks! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/size-invaders

erkberg 2018-08-25 09:47

Congratulations on finishing your first jam! The game is actually not bad at all. Yes, everything is rather basic, but works well in that regard. The movement seems really fast and uncontrollable at first but surprisingly it works quite well and I got to the end without falling down too far. Some audio and maybe one more gameplay element would've improved the game a lot, but as it is, I enjoyed this, good job!

ryomayonnaise 2018-08-26 12:52

@sauski Thanks for your feedback, i will try to apply the advices from your cideo ! @borjan1peovski Yeah the trampoline feel strange, with more feedbacks they could be great ! @mohua Thanks for your comment ! Yeah the jump feel strange, it's too fast ! I will see to improve the controls ! @balance686 Thanks ! I think i gonna upload an upgrade in the next days to improve everything ! @alastairwyn Thanks you ! Make a good level design was difficult beacause the resolution is very small and I need to add mor features ! @erkberg Thanks ! I didn't search the difficulty for my first game jam but still hard :p ! I try to add some audio and feedbacks in the next update ! Thanks everyone for testing my game ! I have mora than 20 votes and I'm verry happy !

karai17 2018-08-27 06:50
