A good effort and something a little different in style. Good job

you need some how to run instructions in here. Just throwing all the files at people is not ideal when there's nothing obvious to make it run
actually this does not seem to be compiled. It looks just like a project file?
strangely addictive. Good effort!
Same issues as previous comment. Can move things around but that's as far as it goes.
Not working sorry. Failed to load.
Think the biggest problem I had with this was how difficult it is as soon as you get knocked down. Maybe a sideways knock in momentum or something would have been a bit more fair than falling down. Still, good effort with nice cartoon graphics!
plays very nicely. Maybe would have made the floor graphic a bit more simple rather than tight pattern as it would then be easier on the eyes with movement (that's really nit picking though). Very good effort and thoroughly enjoyed playing. Loved lining up enemies for a double kill.
very impressive entry. My only real issue with it is that it could do with a bit more guidance at the start but trial and error still gets you there. Well done on a very well presented effort.
you can continue to move for a brief moment after you die, however, although it was hard, this game was quite fun and nicely made. Good job!
amazing game. Very well made. Loved it!
This game is the most impressive I have played from this LD so far. Well done!
some moments where controls were not as responsive as desired but very atmospheric and sinister feeling. Good job!
"A plugin is needed to display this content"
fun but a few camera glitches along the way spoil the flow of the game. Enjoyed it though
some things are unclear with the items on times although the character does move well. Also as a side note, many people will be put off with the 7zip format as you have to download extra software to extract for many computers.
sorry, forgot to include the data file. please try again with the .zip
Thanks for the comment :) . Yeah the notes were going to be a much bigger deal than they are but I had to cut corners due to time restrictions. The idea was too big for the timescale really but am considering taking the premise and making it into a bigger project like what it should have been. Thanks for the camera bug report too.
jomomomo do you use mac or linux? I can do you an untested build if you wish to try?
Also thanks for the constructive feedback guys, much appreciated. Like I said, am considering developing this into a bigger project and taking the time over it so any bug reporting or helpful suggestions are good :)
Hi fullmontis did you make sure to unzip all of the contents first? What version of windows are you running?
just uploaded a mac build. Untested so if anyone tries please comment.
Linux build now up and working. Remember to make its permissions executable if needs be
@kibertoad it was kind of a combination of Stanley Parable style game mixed with the dark trip into different parts of a persons life that works such as the Dickens Christmas Carol book portrays. Unfortunately I didn't quite have the time to expand on that as much as I wanted but am glad that people are still able to get that sort of vibe from it
Thank you all for playing and giving good, constructive feedback. You've been of great help :)
not a bad little game until it started crashing. Seemed very unstable in firefox
Maybe a bit too artistic for my mind to completely grasp but a good sense of atmosphere all the same.
very fun game. Love the graphics style. Very good job, well done!
Massive issues trying to download the Windows version. Avast anti-virus sees it as a threat and destroys it as soon as the zip is extracted.
Glad I checked back to play this. A neat little platformer. After the dev fixed the issue of false positives it ran fine and happy to say no bugs to report.
Enemy got stuck on a platform and started blipping and then I fell off a platform and the whole thing started glitching out. Wouldn't let me exit or anything (web version).
fantastic art and sound however the game is very buggy. fell in the water and yet the game would still continue as if i was still there.
Very moody and gloomy. A dark but well made game.
very interesting. Wish there were more levels but I had fun while it lasted
fun but I fell through the floor in the far right corner and the game got stuck.
Nice art style but the controls are a bit awkward. My main issue with it was that the mouse was not hidden and locked to screen so running it with a dual screen setup was a bit frustrating as the mouse was flying all over the place between screens. With a bit of tweaking this could be very nice though.
Unfortunately this was pretty much unplayable in my browser due to the size it rendered in. The text was completely unreadable so I was not able to fully experience the game.
@vanleiden Thank you for your kind words. I had to reign things back a bit due to time constraints. Could have gone wild with choices with this but that would have made the scope too much for just the one weekend :)
@zondarg Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed. The idea is that the darker the choices you make, the more dark ones become available to you and it's good that you noticed how quickly you can make the whole thing spiral away from normality.
@von-vista thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
@saering I think you find your comments more harsh than I do. Honestly your feedback was very constructive, thank you :) There is less fighting and more story in some of the other paths if you did wish to play again. I do agree that some sound would have helped though.
@balance686 Thank you for the kind comments. Again, I agree with you that audio would have helped this.
@svats7 Am glad you enjoyed. I will admit the game didn't follow the theme as closely as I originally planned but it didn't deviate completely from it :)
@quasar47 Thank you, am glad you enjoyed the overall experience with it. It is possible to die in the game through loss of health which can affect the ending you get but it relies heavily on a few random number generations going a particular way which I didn't really have the time to perfect in the final testing. If I ever use this battle system in any future projects then it will be more heavily refined and better balanced.
@jjjjason clearly you are better prepared than the fictional version of yourself then. Is a rookie mistake not to carry a teleporter after all! I'm glad you enjoyed so many aspects of the game. It was my first time in using text alone to quite this extent so wasn't too sure how it would come out but people seem to have enjoyed the writing so I feel I now have a good platform to build from with future endeavors.
@julienlussiez Thank you for the kind words. The teleporter seems to be some peoples favorite option, which I only threw in for fun at the time but the feedback is proving very valuable. Will likely include more choices like that in future games.
Linux version works. Was a bit laggy at times on my potato PC but I think that's just because I'm running old hardware. The audio was amazing for this and the game also had a good feel to it.
Loved playing this! Genuinely would have been happy to just sit there and keep playing if this had been a long running series or something. Well done! I played this on Windows but if you still need someone to test the Linux build then let me know and I'll boot up my Linux machine tomorrow for it.
Was very interesting, I did however find myself getting stuck on the chair by the door every time I went through it so I would suggest checking that objects don't cause too much of an obstruction in future projects as it can distract from the game itself. Very good atmosphere when playing this one though. Good effort showing.
Sadly this is not working properly on my laptop (Linux Debian build - All software up to date). In Chrome there are bits cut off and buttons not working and in firefox nothing displays at all. I will give this a go on a different PC tomorrow as I do really want to give this a go. Will comment again after trying this.
Tried it again after you updated it and it now works fine on my machine. Was interesting to play this one. Is not like anything else I've played in this jam. Well done for trying something new! It could get pretty frustrating at times but puzzle games in general have the ability to do that. Nice job on this :)
I did enjoy this game. Did find a game breaking bug though. Car got stuck on another car and the controls stopped responding until I closed and re-opened the game. Fun concept mind.
Enjoyed the flashlight mechanics. Felt maybe some animation on the character and some music would have gone a long way here but I get it that we're making these games under pretty extreme time constraints. Well done with this though, was a good concept :)
This was a pretty good experience. I tend to suck at deck building games but I do like what you did here. The music and graphics were quite charming,
Enjoyable game and the Linux version worked fine on my less than impressive laptop which is always a bonus. Was the odd bug here and there but nothing game breaking. Given more time to iron out bugs and refine the controls a bit more would really make this. Well done on what you made and hope you continue to make good entries in future jams :)
