LD25 — You are the Villain

Sin Regne Enbre by Twila 2012-12-18T01:58:00

Also, I am part of the team of programmer Aleph (his username on this site he wrote an entry post on), myself (another programmer), and two more guys (awesome artist and awesome sound/level design guy) from Oklahoma State University.

LD28 — You Only Get One

Started to lag noticeably by the time I got to the 5th wave right after taking this: http://i.imgur.com/BA6sMz8.png beforehand. Seems that the enemies all firing at once makes all the calculations for those projectiles happen at the same time, causing that spike at a fixed interval. Other than that, and the amusing warning at the start, the core mechanic grew on me and the movements and spawning of your minions seems good! I thought there was going to be an issue because for a while I was able to just cram them either (1) where the enemies were spawning or (2) in the little entryways to the top-right area, but then the opponents seemed to increase their spawn area, heh. I think you could certainly keep improving it if you felt motivated to! Oh, and a pause button would've helped a bit with all the frenetic movements, I could barely get a screencap in by the time it got hectic! :) (Final score of 105~)

Good work putting together all the graphics and transitions, it has a very solid mood--was the lack of sound a design choice? It feels like the draw of the game is to try and figure out strengths and weaknesses, assuming they exist... One I'm going to save and come back to later to see if I can't crack. I feel like there's more questions posed than answers given, and that's the point, but it makes it tougher to come to a conclusion about the game on the whole. ;)

I'm sitting dumbfounded trying to think hard at the screen you put up as the 4th screenshot with all the people, guhh... Main thought running through my head is "would they really have made it hinge on who you talk to, or were there clues in the introductory texts"? Reading speed's good, at least for me, but I might read a bit faster than average. Nice use of the music, I think it's important to nail that in a game like this. I'm not sure if the control is in there since I didn't see a description for them, but a "back" function of some sort would've helped. Will also point out that your Source download is only for registered Box users, and that on the readme it currently says LD29, not 28. :) Good luck, friends!
