cool art

gamedevmumin 2018-04-24 13:30

Wow, difficult! :D I think E is too close to R, I accidently clicked it once, but that's all what I would change :D I had fun! :D

darby-costello 2018-04-24 13:31

I was really intrigued by this entry, so I got stuck in and quickly found it to be surprisingly ingenious. Actually quite tricky to get your head around when to use which perspective... but that's what makes it fun! Great entry and love the pixel art and moody intro.

hare-software 2018-04-24 13:39

Great graphics, very good use of brilliant mechanics. Would love to see this be made in a full game (which it kinda already is).

daanvanyperen 2018-04-24 13:45

I'm in love with what you did with the theme. Struggled a bit with the puzzle aspect, but that has more to do with my post-compo puzzling capacity!

daanvanyperen 2018-04-24 13:45

Double submit by accident sorry.

sun-parlor-studios 2018-04-24 13:47

Fun little intro! It actually makes it so you get a little excited to see what's coming up!

Good interpretation of the theme, I like how you didn't go full top down but used the angle to your advantage! Very cool.

The graphics are as good as pixel art can be and they fit the simplicity of the game really well. My only thing here is that I don't have too much patience and I usually hate games where I cannot pull the boxes I pushed, but that's just something personal and nothing wrong with your game!

Good level design, fun to play, very good looking, very well done!

cornel 2018-04-24 19:43

Brilliant approach to theme! Puzzle games aren't my favorite but liked it anyways.

@str1pe @GameDevMumin @darby-costello @hare-software @daanvanyperen @sun-parlor-studios @cornel Thank you guys :)

beebo-studios 2018-05-04 11:07

Wow! Your intro is something else! Your pixelart is amazing for such a small tile size! The music is outstandingly good! The overall mood is fantastic! The puzzles are challenging and rewarding! If you haven't already figured by my extensive use of exclamaton marks, I am in love with your title and in fact I will advertise your game right now on the front page, because you, good sirs and/or madams, definitley need and deserve more votes!

I would totally play this as a full game! Or should I say even fuller game? The only negative thing I noticed is that it sometimes is way to easy to get the crates into positions from where you can only restart. Maybe a pulling mechanic or tilewise pushing could help.

Apart from that, amazing job! I send you lots of love and a bunch of fishes <3 🐟🐟🐟

animaster 2018-05-04 11:58

Great concept, love all about this game, hope to see full version someday

annie-owl 2018-05-04 12:16

Was not expecting a full intro with a voice over. Really well made. Gameplay was also fun, the puzzles were clever, but not too hard for the first levels of a puzzle game. I hope you would not abandon this project, and add more puzzles, with increasing difficulty.

gamepopper 2018-05-04 12:55

The perspective switching is really good!

tommislav 2018-05-04 13:07

Whoa. Awesome mechanics and puzzles! Great work!!

arthur-amorim 2018-05-04 13:28

I loved your game, the levels are really well done and they are really hard sometimes which makes the game intriguing. The story and sound effects plus the voice acting created a nice Mood for the game which i liked the most. The art style that you chose for this game fitted really well! I just missed some songs, but i understand how hard it is to make one that fits the Mood. I really liked your game, Great Job! =D

jonathan-lorenz 2018-05-04 15:01

After exiting the first room I just fall into the black space outside of the boundaries of the game. The game is pretty polished and the puzzle are hard. Made me think about Fez. I liked the overall mood of the game. Good work_

puppetmaster 2018-05-04 22:46

I'm totally surprised no one's ever thought of combining anything like this before. Very great game. I love puzzle games and especially with a clever mechanism.

Would be cool if you have the time to play our game. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/astropover

@beebo-studios, @animaster, @annie-owl, @gamepopper, @tommislav, @arthur-amorim, @jonathan-lorenz, @puppetmaster thank all of you!!! It's really exciting to know that you like our game :D We know about some bugs. We will probably make a full game and fix them all :)

lucas-ferrantelli 2018-05-14 08:32

Waaaw I love puzzle game, this one is good ! I also like your minimalist style, this is a nice entry, good job !

lucas-ferrantelli 2018-05-14 09:44

This is the kind of game I love ! Nice minimalistic pixel art game ! Good entry, great job :)

notpresident35 2018-05-14 19:14

Good job! I like the art, and the theme fits quite well! I'm impressed that you took on a puzzle game in a game jam! That takes a lot of work! I do wish you had used the music in the game though, even if it's just the same music as the menu. I also suggest removing the introduction. Often, games do better with no plot in a minimalistic style or a simplistic game. It often leaves the benefit of the imagination in its place, and lets the gameplay and art tell the story. Games that do this: Mario, Spelunky, etc. If you really want the introduction, you have to add a conclusion to go with it. A story with a beginning but no end falls very, very flat (unless you're using a cliffhanger, but even that is a conclusion of sorts).

Good job, and good luck!

ava-skoog 2018-05-14 20:20

Super super super nice game! Love me a good puzzle and this not only had a really cool main mechanic but it was also challenging (made me feel clever!) and had more content than I expected from an LD game. Props also for the voiced intro! Would've been a bonus to have subtitles for people with low volume or impaired hearing! c:

Did encounter a few bugs while playing. When I cleared the first level and went through the exit I just fell outside of the level, no transition to the next one triggering, so I had to restart the game. On two occasions the game also just froze entirely. And the music just stopped playing at some point. No biggies, but probably good for you to know!

Solid mechanics, music and audio. Felt very complete. Would love to play an extended version with more levels and more puzzle elements than the boxes and the buttons introduced. You've really got a knack for building levels because none of them felt immediately obvious to me.

Minor detail, but would've been nice to have the buttons on the keyboard farther apart. Was easy to accidentally flip the level with E when trying to jump with W or restarting the entire level with R when trying to flip it with E.

Fantastic entry that I really enjoyed. Awesome work!

acoto87 2018-05-14 21:44

Very good entry, the switching perspective mechanic leads to a number of possibilities. Good job!

maysick 2018-05-14 23:23

I love the mood in this game! The art and sound create a very eerie vibe. The puzzle solving is also really good. I found myself having to restart a few too many times just because I pushed a block an inch too far. Best puzzle game I've played in a while.

patrickgh3 2018-05-14 23:39

I quite enjoyed this game! The animation and sound that occurs during the transitions between the modes is so satisfying! Especially so since it's the core idea of the game, and you see it so often. Great job there. The puzzles were fun. I feel like some of them could have been shortened a bit while still getting across the idea of each puzzle. It got tedious sometimes when I accidentally pushed a block *slightly* too close to a wall at the end of a puzzle and had to restart. Also, it was quite confusing at first figuring out that there were two different button types, but I figured it out. Really great job on the intro, I was smiling the whole time. Overall solid entry, I quite enjoyed playing!
