Not sure how well it matches the theme but it's a lovely game! The art style and music are both top notch, only thing I would wish for is the shooting to be 4-directional instead of 8, it's a little too hard to aim as is right now :disappointed:

rickdearman 2020-10-05 20:33

Excellent. I loved the graphics and the puzzle aspects. Like previous poster, I found it hard to aim when shooting.

The artstyle and music are top notch and I love how you are Schrodinger's cat with the box on your head lol. I think the puzzle aspect of using the portals was very cool. Overall, great work.

im pretty sure i got stuck in the tutorial level. It told me to find a box and put it on the platform. I was using the green portal and it kept leading me to a version of the level with no platform.

conneli 2020-10-06 20:44

The visuals reminded me a lot of GBA games, an excellent stylistic choice. I may have gotten stuck early on, couldn't find a platform after taking the box back from the green portal? But I commend your visuals and idea. Very cool.

Really like the art style. It makes me want to reopen my Aseprite and learn to do stuff like that. The color palette is pretty neat and the gameplay is fun! Nice job! It was a bit hard to aim, but I got better

I finished it! I kinda cheesed all of the enemies, killing from off screen because I found close combat to be too hard. I got a bit frustrated dying on the long vertical level, because it took me back 3 levels. I'd appreciate saving on each level. The last one was my favorite, keeping track of which boxes go where. Nice job!

lautaro-nosiglia 2020-10-06 20:55

The game looks amazing, I would play it if you continue with the game! Keep up the good work !

harusame 2020-10-06 21:00

The pixel art is really good. I also like the music and the gameplay is good. Agree with previous comments, it's hard to aim. I think you are not using a pixel perfect camera. Your game could be even better with it. But it's already a great job :)

Really good concept and a awesome realization ! I would just say that's it's a bit frustrating to die, I would expect more checkpoints especially in a puzzle game. And the enemies are horrible to kill... BUT this game is still a stunning entry, good job ! Felicitationes ;) !

hardscore 2020-10-06 21:04

The game is very polished for a jam entry. I also liked the tutorial, which did a great job of explaining the main mechanics. Great work :)

The sound and art are very nice and the tutorial explained the game well. But the enemies were a little to hard for me, which kept me from solving the puzzles and made it frustrating.

Very cool game and super interesting level design. Great mechanics to mess around with

wiredsound 2020-10-06 21:18

The art and animation are excellent! Was good fun, though as others have said aiming was a little tricky.

corentin-benoit-gonin 2020-10-06 21:27

The small green enemies are dangerous enough in their movement. They shouldn't fire thorns in my opinion. I get how you tried to follow the theme gameplay wise. And I think there is quite a good idea there! Maybe better explanations are needed though. Apart from that, the graphics are amazingly cute! Good job!

victor-hallock 2020-10-06 21:31

Great job! Unique take on the theme!

The mechanic of different versions of the same level is interesting. However, I wish there was some sort of indication of which 'version' of the level you were in, maybe like some sort of color palette change or something to correspond with the colors of the portals. I often felt like I was progressing via guessing until I happened to succeed rather than puzzle-solving. Maybe color-coding the enemies in some way to correspond with their effects on portals would be nice too to make it less about guesswork.

The enemies are a bit frustrating to fight - they're small and hard to hit, move quite fast, change directions on a dime, and they shoot without warning. I often tried to kill them while they were offscreen so I didn't have to worry about entering their range. It wouldn't be a big deal if you just fought a few throughout the game, but since a lot of the levels revolve around killing them over and over to change dimensions, it becomes somewhat frustrating to fight them repeatedly.

As a pixel artist it's a bit of a pet peeve for me that you used different pixel sizes for different assets, and some were scaled in uneven multiples so they looked distorted. I'd suggest picking a scale from the start and scaling every sprite the same way. The spritework itself is quite nice, though.

Overall, nice entry. Good work.

I really liked the art & sound here. It's pretty cute. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a dummy and didn't really understand the level switching mechanic. ><

Whoa, I can't believe you managed to do all the graphics during the jam! Amazing, such a beautiful game! It has nice puzzles, it's nice to look at... my only problem was that judging the distance of the button on which we were supposed to put the box was quite difficult.

manusaiz 2020-10-09 18:50

Amazing entry! · I did the same enemy cheesing as @nardandas lol! I could use either some "tell frames" on the enemies, area attacks, or 360º aiming. · The art was super CUTE! gz! · I liked the music as well · And last level was a bit tedious but I liked how it had a rule to follow to eventually discover and use to win.

So besides of that this was great entry! Nice job :)

shiriks 2020-10-09 22:33

Super cool entry! I really love the mechanics and the patterns presents in the levels (specially the last one, I enjoyed it a lot). The only issue I found is the combat, enemies shoot too quickly, and they don't telegraphy, so in order to kill them you have to position, shoot, avoid the bullet, reposition (and re-aim), and in this time, probably the enemy finished its cooldown and will shoot you again. (I used to kill the enemies when they were offscreen, and looking at the portal color-changing to know if they died).

Anyway, the game is really polished, the levels are interesting, and the art is beautiful, good job!

There were some clever puzzles in there. I like the mechanics and graphics. The enemies were annoying at times, but I still got to the end ^^
