LD45 — Start with nothing

Trelet ~ The Land of Words by Ovidios 2019-10-08T06:57:41Z

I agree with the others, it's not that intuitive at first glance an also a tad punitive! I had a really good run until... I failed the jump while I was going to the marketplace ;_;

I also feel it would be easier to make words if we had all the letters displayed on screen.

But appart from that, what an amazing game! Very clever system, and great art as well! My favorite so far! :)

Graveyard Bones by Jesús González 2019-10-13T03:32:41Z

Pretty neat game! I'll just noticed a few things: - The levels are either too big or too empty (I personally think it's the former) - The bats are soooo hard to see! I was hit and it took me a minute to understand what happened!

Good job otherwise!

empty canvas by pragmascript 2019-10-11T14:29:59Z

I agree with the others... The painting is quite difficult! But the zen ambiance is there!

Sabotage by deepnight 2019-10-11T09:25:27Z

What a very, very fun game! Easy to handle, instant fun! It's easy to see your incredible know-how in the matter! I wonder if the game could have been yet more straightforward with only one action button?

Sabotage by deepnight 2019-10-11T10:27:35Z

Oh my god, this is even better indeed! Great job!

Nothing to Say by celia14 2019-10-11T10:37:49Z

The only thing I think you could have improved (apart from the lack of any audio, I had to do the same sacrifice ah ah!) is the UI. Like showing which line can lead to a piece of dialogue the player has to see yet! Also, I wasn't quite sure if I had a "good ending" at some point (but I guess I have).

Otherwise, your game is really smart! The core idea is very interesting, the story is heartwarming and the art is just lovely! Great job!

Red Rush by helpcomputer 2019-10-08T09:07:29Z

The game is perhaps a bit difficult right off the bat, but this is solid work and a fine game! Great job!

Bumparound by beepyeah 2019-10-11T14:04:04Z

Hey!! A Pico-8 buddy! I love the dust animation and the bounce! Great work on that, it feels very... Pico-8-ty! But, I must say I'm not quite on board with the "static" sprite. I feel it could have been something better.

For the global concept, I'm quite impressed! You have a solid design here! Could be a nice little mobile game!

Muscle Typer by organicpencil 2019-10-11T13:50:33Z

i had the lolz and i rofled too so good job!!! (no seriously, it was hilarious and you are totally right about all the hemorrhoids conspiracy thingy)

Sluggish Grind by Catusfelony 2019-10-11T14:53:26Z

It was fun! A nice little bite-sized metroid-like! Not quite perfect (the enemies are way to long to beat and doesn't give enough feedback when they are hurt for example) but it's impressive that you managed to pull that off in your first jam!

The pixel art is lovely as well! Nice job!

Small Town by Emiliabea 2019-10-13T03:40:44Z

I pretty much agree with the UI feedbacks. We doesn't really know when something is clickable or not. Cool idea otherwise!

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-13T04:06:41Z

Very impressive entry indeed! Quite a feat to have done that in such a short time.

Some remarks:

- I understand the gimmick of putting the mouse sensitivity on the "real" mouse. But, it should also be in the menu option I think :) - Some actions lacks feedback. For example, when a new piece of information is added to the board, the game should tell you.

Otherwise, awesome job!

Beagle by Camden Cecrle 2019-10-11T13:14:33Z

This is like... the anti-Untitled Goose Game! Where you do everything possible to please the human. Controls can feel a bit stiff (I don't think lowering the head is that necessary, I'm convinced you could have done without it) and the environment fells a bit empty...

The ambiance is nice though and the graphics are cute!

Monkey Mountain Holiday! by scalliondelight 2019-10-08T05:38:27Z

The game itself may be a bit stiff but I loved the art style!

Empty box by Corentin Benoit-Gonin 2019-10-08T06:59:57Z

Thank you guys for the warm feedback! And I agree with you: I wish too there was music! I was a bit short on time :)

Empty box by Corentin Benoit-Gonin 2019-10-13T05:01:15Z

Edit: I corrected a lot of them! :)

Indeed it's not! Did you write the errors down by any chance? I should correct them quickly.

Empty box by Corentin Benoit-Gonin 2019-10-23T15:09:27Z

@catusfelony Thank you! <3

And yes, the html encapsulation of Pico-8 is pretty neat for non-action focused games! I love the fact that it transforms your phone into a GameBoy basically!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Permafrost Pirouette by Junber 2020-10-06T02:49:05Z

I am too victim of the post-tutorial crash unfortunately... Too bad because it seemed fun and particularly dynamic! The mechanics seemed on point and fun.

Confusing corridors by someone 2020-10-11T18:09:19Z

To some extent, the pure white style can be nice so I completely get why you used it. Maybe some sort of map could have been useful in this mysterious dungeon! Otherwise, good job to have finished the game in time!

Loop2Loop by A-Flat Miner Studios 2020-10-07T20:21:53Z

Well, there is a commendable effort there. I like the Spirograph vibe to it, the game fits the theme pretty well and the graphics are pretty solid.

Now for the "game" part, I'm not as convinced. I feel the game tried to conform too much to normal game standards (score attack, obstacles and survival). I think the game would have been way more interesting if the player could simply draw anything he wants, without any goals in particular.

Other than that, this 72h job is pretty clean!

Bust-a-Loop by PeachTreeOath 2020-10-11T17:57:45Z

Very good take on the combat genre! Too bad there is no sound, but hey, I commend your efforts anyway! Good job!

Ghosts in Limbo by tetha 2020-10-11T17:35:46Z

Nice little game! Too bad you didn't had time to make some SFX or music for it. But it suits well the theme and the puzzles are fun.

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-07T21:31:28Z

What a great idea with this theme! Since you are in the Compo, i totally understand that you didn't have time to implement more "levels". But this is already impressive!

Project Rewind by Roka Josh 2020-10-11T18:58:56Z

I like this kind of game! The ambiance is on point and I also like the Ape Out perspective you put in there. Maybe some of the uses for the item are not that clear. But apart from that, good job!

Schrodinger and the Quantic Forest by Elrric 2020-10-06T21:27:18Z

The small green enemies are dangerous enough in their movement. They shouldn't fire thorns in my opinion. I get how you tried to follow the theme gameplay wise. And I think there is quite a good idea there! Maybe better explanations are needed though. Apart from that, the graphics are amazingly cute! Good job!

Fall from Grace by Corentin Benoit-Gonin 2020-10-06T00:17:21Z

@steambrain I think you are wright. We were too slow to gauge the time correctly... I'll adjust it later, after the reviews. Thanks for your opinion!

Fall from Grace by Corentin Benoit-Gonin 2020-10-06T00:35:27Z

@jeremy-ryan Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, the rotation mechanic feels a bit clunky, even for us. We struggled a bit with this part, ah ah! But the most important was to pull it off in 72h, so, in the end, we take it :)

@rucksack Thank you! We lacked time, but we initially wanted to add more levels to try the concept even more... Too bad the jam lasted only 72 hours!

@firetwoonenine I agree too! We'll add it after the review process :)

Fall from Grace by Corentin Benoit-Gonin 2020-10-14T19:59:24Z

@GarfSnacks Ah, unfortunately, we still had some glitches we couldn't get rif of. It doesn't surprise me that much, but thanks for reporting them!

@thewustache Thank you very much! It means a lot! We have a nice level generator ready so I think we will make some extra levels after the rating period!

Beat Bash by Overlook Studios 2020-10-06T23:06:59Z

What a game! A think that you should give the player more time in the shop and display at all time the price of the items. Other than that, wow! Amazing job!

The Sun Wants a Hug! by nimmems 2020-10-07T20:33:03Z

What a lovely little game! Nothing very innovative, that's true, but hey, it works. Your selling point is of course the CUTEST SUN IN THE GALAXY. The graphic work on the menus is also very nice!

Flooper by Shigi 2020-10-07T21:07:36Z

It's quite alright and fun! I just think that the orbit of the ball shouldn't be that hard to change. At least in the first levels! It feels pretty random at times...

RAIL LIES by Dazrow 2020-10-11T19:11:33Z

I totally get what you went for, but i have to say that the implementation was not as great as I expected... Never too sure what the implications of my actions were! Apart from that, this idea for a loop is clever!

Escape A Curved World by Feraligatr 2020-10-11T17:44:29Z

A solid plateformer! I feel that the character should skip the get up animation when he die. It is a little bit too long in my opinion.

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-07T21:22:13Z

The boxes I had to sort didn't appear. So I made jumps on purpose, triggering errors, to exit this situation. I was sent back to the beginning of the game... Sorry guys, but the intro was too long for me to go through it again.

That being said, the voice acting is pretty amazing!

17:18 by Alexia 2020-10-06T00:29:36Z

You may have lacked some time to tweak the movements of the character. It's too floaty, unfortunately. I liked the art style and the interesting choice of colors, too!

(Also the character has such a 2020 mood!)
