LD45 — Start with nothing

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-07T17:52:25Z

I'm not the biggest fan of platforming games but goddamn if this isn't the funnest platformer game I have ever played (Okay so maybe its on point with Gunpoint but to be fair Gunpoint took multiple years and you did this in less then 2 days!!) Any plan to continue the game afterwards?

The Legend of Sky Stones by Iluvatar 2019-10-07T15:11:24Z

Sweet Heavens! While I'm not much of a point & click player, the old school graphics and animation were so pleasant to look at (Aside from the text it was hard to read but that might just because I sit far to close to my monitor) I only encountered two bugs, while playing one was just the laying of the blue effects on the stone being off and appearing over my head and the other one was right after when the book appeared my mouse cursor just vanished and wouldn't come back, might be because I like to spam click everything because I'm to impatient to just look at my character move! :D But otherwise really well done, I'm very impressed!

Thanks for Nothing by PhilStrahl 2019-10-07T19:07:58Z

Played your game, had a sore throat, now I'm in pain. Best 10 minutes spent. Your Mood and Music are always so onpoint, and now you can add comedic writing to that list! :D Great game, I wonder if you're gonna stick with Unity or not after that experience? ^^

Logical by Cethin 2019-10-07T18:50:19Z

I love logic gates so ofcourse I love this game, good job, great puzzler!

Amor Fati by starvingindie 2019-10-07T19:13:54Z

Love the Music and cute gameplay! But I did just spam leftclick which.. accelerated the progress quite a bit :D

Amor Fati by starvingindie 2019-10-07T20:52:54Z

@starvingindie Well I enjoyed going nuts, all the particles and sound effects playing were very satisfying!

Thief! by MaximBegunov 2019-10-08T09:27:47Z

Great game! Only the punishments seem a bit harsh due To the long play time needed to aquire all the money necessary to win the game, even with the power up. Otherthen that a very neat little game!

Birb Empire by Los 2019-10-07T16:37:37Z

You lured me in with that birb pic, But I'm definitely with Barracuda here, I love the gameplay look and theme of it because I do love birbs. Sounds would just be the cherry ontop of this great game! :D

White Starts With Nothing by Baturinsky 2019-10-07T17:05:55Z

As someone who is rubbish at chess, I Really enjoyed this! Great spin on standard 'ol boring chess :D

Deer Game by kantieno 2019-10-08T09:48:39Z

Lovely art and very interesting idea with the questions at the start, I did take me quite a bit to figure out that you can jump on the pillars. A Checkpoint would not have gone a-miss :D

Tactical Bodybuilding by SuperTibbles 2019-10-07T19:57:58Z

Pretty cool concept and great art and sound! Definitely Difficult, gotta make sure you don't loose your head to survive.

Song of Creation by anttiviljami 2019-10-07T18:01:11Z

I had my microphone not set up correctly so I had to scream and shout for stuff to appear at first which made it more humorous then it might have intended to be :D Great artwork and very creative idea for gameplay! ^^

The Ghost Haunter by Gnappuraz 2019-10-07T20:44:56Z

Very Lovely Animations :) But be careful spacebar replays the intro when you first jump in the game ^^ Not to bad tho having to look at the sweet animations a second time ^^

Poppy by Sozey 2019-10-07T18:34:40Z

Love the look and how everything animates, very very stylish game!

Help Meowt! by Nyunesu 2019-10-08T09:06:02Z

FactoriNode by Ender7 2019-10-07T14:48:17Z

FactoriNode by Ender7 2019-10-07T14:57:24Z

@tadeas-paule You can move the camera with right click and drag I thought? Mouse wheel to zoom aswell.

Trash Can Adventures by t1a2z 2019-10-07T15:57:33Z

@t1a2z Now that's creative gameplay innovation right there! :D

Aphantasia by kristinamay 2019-10-07T15:52:41Z

So unique! I love the art style and the music. And you did it in Lua! Very impressive :D

The Void by Bozarre 2019-10-07T19:25:29Z

The presentation and art are so on point! I had gread fun on this :)

Card Hero by Skyball 2019-10-07T13:58:43Z

Interesting Idea with the cards as weapons! The floor and wall tiles need better distinction, but other then that pretty cool!

2D PLATFORMER EXE by GabrielGameDev 2019-10-07T14:39:48Z

Very interesting! Great animations and I those clicky clacky keyboard sounds are very satisfying indeed!

Type with NOTHING by zc74560 2019-10-07T15:41:56Z

Very Unique! Very refreshing to see a wellthought out puzzle game in just one window with simple rules! :D

Outline Memory by hollebecq.baptiste 2019-10-07T14:18:28Z

Love the looks of the game! With the movement system it really gives you that good MOOD :D Great work!

Human by Mathigoful 2019-10-07T14:44:19Z

Seems really interesting! Althought it didn't seem to capture my E keys to interact with anything, Not sure what happends once you run around the lava spewing plains (Which are drawn really well btw!)

The Thrill of the Loan by TJMcDonald 2019-10-07T19:44:31Z

Loved the art and the humor was great! :) Great job!

Spooky: The one who lost everything by Susumu Asaga 2019-10-07T20:39:46Z

Wipe It by BarracudaDisaster 2019-10-07T16:02:30Z

Wow I'm so impressed with how many models you've made, and such a unique uh.. "Propulsion System" :D Love it!

Island Game by aleks 2019-10-07T13:39:25Z

Sounds for somereason are very very loud on my end, although that might be my fault somehow :P Other then that the things that are there work really well! Not sure if the audio glitching sound when you restart is on purpose or not but it kinda fits! :D

Words against Numbers by Mastoast 2019-10-08T09:11:23Z

Very Creative Gameplay!

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T14:14:42Z

@t1a2z Thank you so much for those kind words! :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T14:21:21Z

@Kanonix Thank you very much! I see more people are enjoying the radio then I anticipated :P

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T15:14:26Z

@kristinamay Thank you very much for that feedback! Yes shooting random items is uh.. intentional let's say. But the drop button is T for throw and G for... uh drop! It doesn't say that ANYWHERE in the game so.. thats my fault I did have it writen on this post but I really should have expected people not to read that (I only glance at them from my experience). So uh aside from my failure to present basic controls in a game thank you very much for that :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T15:21:32Z

@zc74560 There is a mouse sens slider next to the mouse in the office, but thanks for the kind words! :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T15:23:03Z

@kristinamay Aw thank you! that really means alot to me! :) Technically I did it in 3 days it was a jam game after all. I did not expect anyone but me to like it as it is very niche :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T15:33:42Z

@zsolt Thank you so much! I'm glad love for detective games aren't dead just yet! :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T15:44:29Z

@barracudadisaster Yes seems like the things I added to just waste time.. did just that! So.. it's a success? :D Thank you so much for the kind words and yes the sensitivity is very oddly placed :D I Didnt want to add it in the option menu as people cant look around to test it immediately, still i put it in a very odd place :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T16:07:50Z

@hjalte Thanks you so much! And yes having i was far to scared to add more content and have people not find it! I'm very unsure how long people actually play these kinds of games for :D But thanks for those kind words really means alot :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T16:24:52Z

Thank you so much @retrobarbare! (Great Name Btw) Yes that's a bug, the numbers do appear afterwards on the Whiteboard for reference so I hope it wasn't to big of a roadblock :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T16:40:33Z

@iconocatstudio Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad to see linux build works!

@kuro Don't worry the "EASY SKIP TO DRAGON FIGHT DLC" Will be out for 25$ in about a month or so, Or the season pass for 50$. :P

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T17:34:05Z

@davidvandeloo Haha well done! Looks like you did it without the staple gun? If so you have much more patience then I do :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T17:49:33Z

@davidvandeloo That is mighty impressive :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T18:09:06Z

@joe-williamson Buying/Download all the art assets helped me alot :P Giving me more time to lurk in stack-overflow and youtube tutorials :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T19:10:26Z

@starvingindie Thanks! I didn't do the models though they are from the Asset Store, soo I can take 2/3rds of that compliment is that how it works? :D Glad you liked the Stapler, definitely the most satisfying part of my game I feel like. That's why its everywhere even in the credits :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T20:28:09Z

@kenarf Thank you so much for the kind comment :) Yeah the UI started out as me not being able to make a more traditional hud work in Unity and then It kind of became the main focus of the Interaction System, one if not the only perks of never having made a game before I guess. Glad you enjoyed it :)

@radgegames Thank you! Great Comment! :D

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T20:32:20Z

@n3bul0sa I'm glad Unity just effortlessly exported it to Mac and Linux just fine, as I can't test it myself. Thanks for reporting in and telling me! And your kind words are also greatly appreciated of-course :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T20:34:45Z

@susumu-asaga Yeah I didn't figure out how to travel between scenes holding a Object in time so that got cut, I should have made the E-mail more clearly state that you get the clue on the whiteboard anyway! So it's not a bug just me being incompetent! Thank you so much for playing it! :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-07T20:49:53Z

@daria-toni Thank you for the kind comment! I learnt alot and had alot of fun making it glad to see others enjoy it :)

@nachtwitch Thanks! I did have 72 as this is a Jam entry but I'd be lying that I spend to much time making and less time sleeping, as I think my grammar and lack of cohesion in the story shows :)

@shenawy Yeah I recorded the Street and door sound and that was enough time spend outside and just recording sounds in general, thanks for the kind words :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-08T09:30:29Z

@danielmotta I was never known to be a musician, I went the route of better add music anyway and give the player a way to mute it. So you know you get the best of both worlds :P

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-08T12:26:19Z

@karanveer Thanks, his perseverance amazed me. It was expected people use the stapler to cheat not just the T & F keys :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-09T09:22:22Z

@iluvatar Thank you so much! The Jazz music was very difficult for me to create, alot of speeding and pitching midi instruments and loops to get as right as i could manage it to get, I'm glad atleast someone liked it! And yes Unity assigns some buttons automatically such as the fire & movement keys, but since it doesn't conflict with anything I just left it as is :)

@DWaM I did add quite a few variations to most of the search terms just in case, but its hard to predict every possible combination, definitely something I want to look into on how I could improve it, Thank you so much for your kind comment!

@kunonooni Yes technically it is, Last week on Moday I did start to prepare for ludum dare by following a bunch of youtube tutorials in Unity so I don't go in completely blind, and I do feel like in this weekend I learnt so much more then in the week leading up to it which was great! And hey nothing wrong with platformers it just takes a little bit of innovation to make them stand out as something spectacular! (i.e Gunpoint) I just wish I had the artistic competence to do 2D art at all :D. Anyway thank you very much for your comment and I do hope to participate in every ludum dare from now on :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-11T12:21:34Z

@justcamh Thank you very much, I'm glad somepeople enjoyed the humor!:)

@jupiter-hadley Thanks for playing it on the video! Even if it was only the start of the game, I still appreciate it ^^ You still have to play alot of games afterall :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-13T14:42:28Z

@corentin-benoit-gonin Thank you! Yeah the mouse sens was me panicking and having to add that last second ^^ And yes I struggled with feedback quite a bit. Thank you for your feedback!

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-13T19:57:07Z

@velvetlobster I had a great time making the sound effects, even though recording the street was painfully boring! Glad you enjoyed them! Thank you very much for the feedback! :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-14T16:47:49Z

@mika-la-grand I've opted out of the respected categories, and put it in the credits that the 3D models aren't created by me AND replied to anyone still confused (Or who just complimented me on my 3D modelling) That in fact the models are not by me. Soo yeah. I'm definitely not trying to deceive anyone here. I'm just really confused why you decided to comment that.. but thanks? I guess?

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-15T21:15:28Z

@mika-la-grand Most people don't look at the submission page either, but its good to know why you made that comment! Cheers! :)

The Defective Detective by Polyethyleneglykol 2019-10-31T17:55:31Z

@elysiagriffin Thank you so much for playing the game on-stream! :)

Shadow Walker by SheepDog123 2019-10-07T17:10:19Z

Interesting Idea with the shadow being "Pushed" across the level, I'm just glad there are alot of checkpoints because I died alot :D The only thing was that the hitbox for the spikes seem a little bigger then they should be, other then that perfect!

LEGS by moechen 2019-10-07T14:52:32Z

Lovely graphics and Gameplay! The animation really ads alot to the mood!

Universe Inc. by Czorio 2019-10-07T13:53:55Z

That jumpscare when you reset, god my heart. but the sounds were pretty punchy i like it alot, also nice job on the modelling :D

Spit warior by BRTEK007 2019-10-07T14:56:18Z

Love how the ears are just human ears staples to the head, I did miss the ability to move diagonal but other wise great entry! Especially for a first time participation!

Unlock by RetroBarbare 2019-10-07T16:34:43Z

Very Funny and polished! Love how the game progresses! :D

NoControl by simXple 2019-10-07T13:46:21Z

Climbing the wall took me a bit to figure out, some sounds would have been nice but other then that a really creative entry! :D

Doodle Ball by Beritens 2019-10-07T20:08:31Z

Love it! Kind of confusing at first when I could only make a dot, but after a couple of tries I got those flashbacks from when I was younger playing those flash games like Line rider, definitely had a blast playing this game!

Start with WHITE by IanTyf 2019-10-07T14:35:40Z

Very smart little puzzle game with great soundtrack!

Nothingness by Mazen Morgan 2019-10-07T13:35:33Z

Pretty awesome idea! A simple tint on the buttons would go along way to give the player feedback if they have selected a planet or not :) But other then that a very creative submission!

Vessel by Gabriele 2019-10-07T18:58:22Z

Very Interesting! At first I panicked and pressed every button and switch I could and it did make me feel like the Dr when he pilots the Tardis, the only difference he was flying through time and space and I just stayed stuck till I took my time :D

Slimy Situation by Vybe 2019-10-08T09:35:53Z

Very solid little game! Took me a bit to figure out how to open the chest, and I do think the slimes have a tad much HP compared to the player but otherwise its pretty cool!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Protecc-Terra by calapout 2020-04-21T06:14:11Z

Neat little game! Although by the sun part of the gameplay loop is to easy to cheese, but the game otherwise is polished up to the max even little sun and moon on the sliders, very cute!

Useless Machines Inc. by herniewise 2020-04-21T05:56:49Z

I was very lost for the first few minutes, but great job on the modeling and atmosphere!

Part Of The Ship by LordKawaii 2020-04-21T02:21:04Z

I like the minimalist representation of the user interface, Some music would have been good aswell! I like the premise though, and some of the gameplay in it remind me of FTL, like the powerbar-style power system. Pretty neat!

Field Hospital by n.feofentov 2020-04-21T12:41:03Z

Very polished game, well done! Sometimes words like unconscious are very hard to read for me with the selected font but that might just be me. Enjoyed my time with this one!

Giant Blobs From Mars by Almighty Games 2020-04-21T04:04:22Z

Finally it's allowing me to post a comment! Finally I can vent that the music is amazing, I did alway want to zoom in instinctively and kept lowering the camera. But other then that very chill and relaxing game!

Null and Void by Polyethyleneglykol 2020-04-21T06:25:26Z

@kushimoto Thank you very much for the feedback! The elevators were a panic decision made by me when the deadline closed in on the last 60 minutes available, I really regret that decision now but it's to late. The Starting Time Is very hard to get right, I saw some streamers reset 2 or 3 times before grabbing one +Time object but others breezed through barely going below 1:30 minutes. I think as you suggested if I had some easier way to regain height It would be much easier to keep the difficulty level steady. Some people suggested more ramps as @jake-marks or some launch pads. All really good suggestions, but those have to wait for a post-ld build to keep voting fair! ^^

Null and Void by Polyethyleneglykol 2020-04-21T12:12:35Z

@afroant Thank you @afroant! Yeah the theme is something that bugged me so much, I had zero ideas so I had to do something, anything haha :D Thank you for the kind words!

Null and Void by Polyethyleneglykol 2020-04-21T12:15:33Z

@technonugget Glad you liked it! I had the player be fully physics based first but found that controlling at that high of speed was difficult as you had to had to cancel out your momentum everything you try to land which was hard. I did try implementing a grappling hook but found that it kindof incentivised people to stay on street-level which wasn't fun, maybe if I was more creative I could have thought of something unique haha :D

Null and Void by Polyethyleneglykol 2020-04-21T12:15:45Z

@erebus Thank you for playing it!

Null and Void by Polyethyleneglykol 2020-04-21T15:20:25Z

@radow Yeah I ran out of time with the level :D Had major build problems thanks to the heavy use of scriptable objects which failed to serialize. As this is just my 2nd jam game I havent got much time management skills just yet, but I enjoyed and learned alot nontheless! Thanks for the feedback as always!

Null and Void by Polyethyleneglykol 2020-04-21T15:20:56Z

@ldf-productions Nice Comment, great feed back, thank you very much! :D

Null and Void by Polyethyleneglykol 2020-04-21T15:22:36Z

@grizzliusmaximus I have thought about making a rim light or outline shader for the buildings and elevators, but because I made it so low poly it looked.. gross. but lesson learned better look gross and play well then the otherway around! And yes there is no win condition. The next level got scrapped so it just sits there. Never enough time in these game jams ;)!

Beat Savior by HKSpadez 2020-04-21T04:54:04Z

I like the Idea, but It would have been much improved if you hand placed the notes and beats on 1 or 2 songs rather then using RhythmTool's inbuilt system as it's not the best for something like this. But as I said cool concept! Oh and also a better shooting sound that doesnt clash with the music as much! But good job anyhow!

DOC+ORS by bixarrio 2020-04-21T02:14:29Z

I love the presentation, iso cut out room etc. Looks great! Some music would have been nice and I found myself often not knowing wether or not I clicked the bed which can be a hurdle when it gets hectic, but other then that pretty damn neat game!

Last keeper by Tatyana 2020-04-21T05:53:16Z

Very polished collection of minigames, Fought at first the fuel is going to stay 100% but that changed rather quickly!

Bodyguard by AlphaQ 2020-04-21T06:07:50Z

I like it! Sometimes the boxes get stuck underground but thankfully there are plenty of them to go around and the restart is snappy. Also I ran over my boss more then once. Oups.

It's Just Human by MomoLala23 2020-04-21T05:12:11Z

Got tough in the end and gave me flashbacks to the simpsons intro, + nice pixel art! Cool stuff!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Turn of the Tide by Polyethyleneglykol 2021-04-28T22:05:43Z

@kszaku Thanks for the nice words! Yeah I always wanted a game like that, the closest I've got to it so far were games like ArmA were you just make a massive battle in the Editor. Got Inspired from those days.

@profan Zooming in on units actually was in the 1.0 version, but sadly with the unity version I used there is a bug where transforming a orthographic camera in the way I did would soft crash the game, as the mouse Input is out of the camera clipping planes. So I had to just remove the button as a sacrifice! All in all thanks for the great feed back and kind words!

@octopussy Yeah, good point! The only way to earn cash is through destroying objectives, giving a player small amounts of cash per resource point generated would have been smart. But bug squashing was the main priority at the end of the jam, who knew making a big scale AI RTS like that would have alot of edge cases to consider :D! And the Anti aliasing issue you are mentioning is a Unity thing sadly, the Pixel Perfect camera is still in experimental and doesn't support the URP pipeline. I definitely should have checked that before hand! Thank you for the comment its much appreciated!

@loginaut There was a way to highlight and control units from the UI but I had to remove it as mentioned in the reply above, as to regards to the world size it was really a shot in the dark to how big the map should be. Thank you for all the kind words, and as per your suggestion a .zip file version is now available, I always kind of default to .7z because it gives around 10% better compression it seems.

Turn of the Tide by Polyethyleneglykol 2021-04-28T22:40:33Z

@kszaku Oh how I wish the newer battlefield games had proper bot matches. ArmA definitely took over that role for me after. Maybe one day I can make a game with a in game editor I can loose as many hours in setting up scenarios as I did in the ArmA editor.

Turn of the Tide by Polyethyleneglykol 2021-04-29T14:12:43Z

@hansj That's a known bug with the current version of Unity's Orthographic camera, it can't read the mouse position properly when the camera is transformed sometimes causing a exception stopping the whole script. I've tried throwing every guard clause I could at it but its up to unity to fix it sadly. If you're on the 1.1 version the only thing that you can try is not making any inputs with the mouse until the Intro is finished.

@crumblybread Thank you for the nice words, and great username btw :D

@maratg2 Thank you for the comment!

Turn of the Tide by Polyethyleneglykol 2021-05-02T00:19:54Z

@asdehielo Once the tutorial finishes one AI quad member spawns at the apartment's in the middle of the screen. Once you destroy the antenna you get some cash to but more saboteur squad mates. There is one antenna right where you spawn to get you going. But yeah with those units you try to control the battle from behind enemy lines by destroying supply trucks and getting more antenna side objectives. The AI units you control have a yellow arrow above them, not the clearest indication I know. But thanks for the nice comment and thank you for playing the game!
