Interesting idea! Good style and music
I like it.
Great game, i like the concept and blending mechanics 10/10
nice idea! very well executed too, I appreciated the little pop-ups on the main menu to explain things, and the control reminder, etc. I'm not sure how much the colors mix each time you collide (dose size have an effect?), but it felt pretty intuitive nonetheless.
I didnt really get what the goal was at first, thinking I had to just run into the targeted color, but once I got a hang of the gameplay, I loved it!
I can't believe I'm getting this upset about colored circles. This is a game about consuming colors much less than it is about avoiding colors. Two seconds and you go from your beautiful target color to poop brown. Absolutely brilliant! If any critique should be dealt, some sound effects make this game come alive. Thanks... this is a great way to finish coding for 48 hours.
Overall I liked the concept. Would have been interesting to have an ongoing score and receive ranks, like color master or even receive a rank for your score each level. I didn't feel like I was accomplishing much.
Got to level 13 I believe.
Never imagined a bullet hell where I'd have to evaluate the pros and cons of getting hit by a bullet, bl**dy brilliant.
Perhaps there might be a balance issue in slight. I found level 1 to be one of the hardest levels.
Besides that, only advice I can really give is perhaps more movement polish and perhaps a secondary gameplay loop.
Great game.
Love the idea! Gameplay feels nice.
Enjoyed your game! Interesting take on the theme and it was engaging.
Great idea, for the game!
Very smart little puzzle game with great soundtrack!
Fun game. Love the idea that you first try to get hit but when you have the desired color you are avoiding.
Really fun. The hardest part is holding tight when you think you've gotten it 'just right.' I'm curious, what algorithm do you use for the blending? Is it just lerp? Couldn't figure out if the size of the dot impacted the blend amount, or just the challenge to hit it.
Great concept. I feel that a more limited pallet would be beneficial with more distinct changes. I really enjoyed it, but would loved to have seen more grouped? or something. Like if yellows were likely to spawn near other yellows oranges and maybe reds or something.
Thank you all for the great comments! You guys made my day. My favorite part was also when I got the color but failed to hold on to it. There used to be an option when first designing the game where you can just hit 'space' to jump to result, but, as expected, it never made it to daylight.
@walaber @marchmain Yes the size does matter when blending. If you hit larger circles you receive more of their color and same for smaller ones. Hover over to the little tags/stickers/whatevers on the main menu (to the right)! Also for the algorithm, I googled for a while and here's a quick summary. I used a simple weighted combination of rgb, as it is said to be mathematically correct. However, it may not be totally intuitive for human eyes, as we perceive most of the greens more or less the same. There are many other algorithms that I came across but I just did not have enough time to implement and test them one by another :(
@gaz-ireland I see your point! I went for the approach that if you want a bit more yellow, go for a small one as it adds only a little to what you have. Maybe (if I had more time) it's good to have something like two game modes, where one is grouped and traditional/recognizable colors and others are limitless/free-range colors? Thanks for the feedback!
@dk5000p Yeah we have the same feeling. I knew it when my roommate playtested and took photo of a 99 score with his phone. But sadly I spent way too long on trying to curve the unintuitive scores and time flied fast. Definitely will add a scoreboard/highest history to the game after the grading period ends.
Oh wow this is cool! My only complaint is that sometimes the colors are right where you spawn when you spawn, starting you off with a really unfortunate color to begin with. other than that, this was a lot of fun, great game!
Really nice work. Totally original, had a ton of fun playing this. Love the mood of the game -- music is spot on, SFX and VFX when you hit another color make it feel intrinsically rewarding. I didn't really get a sense for progression with the level numbers increasing. Does that have an effect, or is it more of just a 'streak'? Most frustrating bit was when I felt like I was just waiting around for colors I needed that wouldn't come, watching time run out -- tended to feel a bit helpless in those situations.
@blobo Yeah I feel you. That is definitely something I overlooked when designing and playtesting. Thank you so much for pointing it out! I will be more careful next time.
@trevor-shoe Thanks you! I had a hard time deciding how the game should progress as it goes. Like you said, I couldn't just shorten the time we have for each level since it makes it unplayable sometimes. I reduced the time we have to memorize the color for each level a bit as it progress, but yes other than that it is more like a streak and indeed the most fun comes from individual scores and levels rather than completing certain amount of levels. I will work on it as grading period ends. Thank you for the feedback!
Really fun arcade type game. I find the color matching to be a little difficult mostly because I'm terrible at art, but also because sometimes it feels a little like you get a bunch of color at random. It took me a minute to realize that you get more color from larger dots (I think, I might just seeing stuff).
@theseusinabottle Yes you do get more color from larger ones! It's shown in the sticker tips on the main menu (to the right, if you hover mouse over). I should have made it clearer in the description! Adding that right now. Thank you for the comment!
Good concept and nice music. Are there infinite levels? I played through about 5 of them, it mostly becomes a game of "avoid the circles cause I already picked up the right color!" :)
Awesome game, had a lot of fun in the levels!!
The idea alone is really unique, and the implementation of the color apply system to your circle is really neat.
One suggestion - The main menu I saw had hover popups, though I only saw them by chance. Maybe find a way to make it clearer there is content to be seen at the hover buttons.
Really nice game, nice job!
An excellent idea. I'm a bit confused by the colour scoring though, sometimes I got a worse score with colours that to my eyes were closer.
