The graphics are really nice, I love the neon and the whole atmosphere of it :) Also nice that I could import my own music, overall really solid game
Cool environment! There was a delay on the shooting sound that made it really hard to follow the beat.
Awesome entry! Played Beat Saber for the first time some weeks ago. I'm better at this I think.
Honest to goodness, my favorite game I've played so far. I could easily play this for ages. It'd be more fun with a larger target area, though. Amazing job!
I like the Idea, but It would have been much improved if you hand placed the notes and beats on 1 or 2 songs rather then using RhythmTool's inbuilt system as it's not the best for something like this. But as I said cool concept! Oh and also a better shooting sound that doesnt clash with the music as much! But good job anyhow!
Very cool and nice looking game! Having the video for the tutorial was a nice touch and really helped me to understand the mechanics. I dont know if it was just me but I felt as if the timing for shooting was slightly off, perhaps a way for players to adjust the latency could help. Also being able to play to your own music is just icing on the cake!! Awesome work!
Awesome idea, well polished graphics and mechanics and everything works really well. It's pretty hard but that's not a bad thing, a lot of room to get better at playing it. I think you should change colour\light up the next closest block on the beat, that would make it feel a lot better.

Really good game but for me the rythm was a little off-beat so i had to made a latency in my head to click at the right time x') but it's realllllllly a good idea ! Hope you'll update it later for adding new features ! :)

@texz @andre-fremaux thanks for trying it guys! yeah... the rhythm beat algorithm doesn't work super well with some songs. Mostly old school melody heavy SNES type songs work very well haha. But more complicated music the bpm checker goes out of whack unfortunately.
Maybe we couldve added like a 'latency' shifter or something. thanks for your input!
Absolutely love this game. Its so satisfying to go on a long streak of hitting blocks when playing on hard mode and i really like how the gun feels. I love the fact you can upload your own music, kept me hooked for a long time. Really nice job!
Very Innovative idea but would be great if you can actually move around the level and have actual enemies in the game but i do understand the limited time,great game overall
Clever tutorial. That was a great way to explain the mechanics and set the mood at the same time. The gameplay was very fun too. I had a little trouble hearing the beat. For a game like this, choosing music where the beat is very clear and distinctive is important. Other than that, it was very enjoyable. Great job!
hey @blakegamedev ! was the difficulty in hearing the beat due to the volume or the song choice? if its volume the menu has a "song volume" setting but if its song choice we should definitely could have picked a better default song. just so we know for future reference.

The game was really nice to look at! The video tutorial was a great touch too. This game was well polished but I think the theme was shoehorned in because the overall setting didn't connect with keeping the beat/music alive. The gunshots were pretty out of place. Maybe have the gun shoot out drum beat sounds? Good work.
The game looked great and I love the concept. It was hard for me to follow if my shot was on beat. I wish there was some way that I could shoot and see the beat at the same time.
The menu to select songs/start the game was very clever. I think this game is pretty good and would love to see what you guys do in the future.
Had a lot of fun with this one, keeping the beat while aiming at the blocks is really fun but the blocks were a bit too small to shoot at in my opinion. Definitely see the Necrodancer and Beat Saber inspiration for this game!
The game works really well with custom music, it was very rare that I got misses that I felt should have really been hit on the beat of the music. Also love the bloom and the futristic design. Great work!
@russ-moonbase i totally agree. The blue pulsing cross hair was supposed to help with that but still. It definitely could've been done better to indicate more clearly. Especially when the muzzleflash kind of kills the blue pulse

The scrolling is painfully slow when searching for the right file. But the game is good anyways :D
@bobost2 yeaaah we shouldve sped that up for sure. Little QoL things get missed in these jams. Initially we only used up and down arrow keys and that speed was okay so we kinda overlooked the mouse scroll.

Ahh I didn't notice the blue indicator either. My music kept playing offbeat but I just adjusted and shot in between beats lol
The game is pretty polished and is more interesting than most aim games. It's impressive you got the mp3 loading and everything to work in the jam timeframe, have you done that in the past? Either way, solid entry and a good variation from other games using the "keep the beat alive" concept.
PS. we weren't looking to make an aim trainer but our game ended up playing as one lol, give it a shot when you can.
@peachtreeoath will do! I've worked on a VR game before where monsters spawn to the beat so I mostly re-used that old song spawning algorithm. Was from a couple years back.
Gotcha, it's impressive regardless and yea it's always good to reuse libraries.
oh wow I didn't realize you could use your own music when I first saw this gmae. I totally jammed to some A day to remember and that was awesome that I could use my own music. I tried the different difficulties and did easy then decided to try hard and I lost so badly haha.
I would of loved to see blue blocks that you needed to right click or something. I'm curious if that was an idea that you all had but didn't get it implemented in time.
Also the video/voice tutorial in the beginning was pretty cool. I don't think I've seen a tutorial like that yet in this ludum dare.
@barret lol yeah we totally considered the dual block color idea. well cause.. beat saber XD
Or some blocks that shoot back at you upon death. to give players a reason to move and jump around.
@hkspadez Yeah that's cool. I just saw beat saber post today they have options you can change the colors of the blocks.
well if you ever decide to go further with game those would definitely be cool additions, and being shot at could be cool too b/c you have to dodge the bullets

This is well done, and for all I know on par with many popular VR games. It is a bit hard to rate the game, since a lot of the fun comes from a good choice of song. It seemed a bit strange to me that missing a target but doing so on-beat would not break the combo. There could be more obvious signaling of the rhythm than just the small cursor and the indicator on the bottom of the screen – perhaps making all of the scene lights actually pulse with the rhythm? I think this is especially necessary when the rhythm is auto-detected and may not exactly line up with what the song beats are.
@aurel300 we actually had code to do this but decided the green pulsing was wayy too distracting. thanks for trying the game!
this was definitely something that seemed like it would work out on paper but by the time we realize it isnt going to work out 100%. was definitely way too late to change gears since its a jam. had to just stick with it.at least now post-jam we can mess with different ideas.
i 100% agree the signaling is a bit off. Some people have sent us similar solutions where instead of.
lines at the bottom going to the bullet. instead the lines appear middle bottom of the screen .and flies into the crosshair.
if we decided to move foward we will definitely be trying out different methods of beat deection. thanks again for trying it and for coming to leave some ideas! its been super helpful to hear from people playtesting. how we could fix it.
It looks very cool! I don't see the connection between bits of music and shots like in other music games. But in general the impressions are only positive
For a jam game this is really impressive. I would have loved to see some more interaction with the music, I tried slower and faster tracks and did not see as much of a change, so you probably need to improve on the musical analysis of the songs. But I can see this being a really cool game with some more time invested. It is definetly a cool idea that looks and plays nicely!
