LD47 — Stuck in a loop

The Basement by Geckoo1337 2020-10-07T18:36:09Z

Great job! Really enjoyed playing and attempting to figure out the puzzles! Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to the end. Really love the stipple effect overlaid on everything. You created a great mood with the music and style combined together.

- Not sure if this was a bug or not but sometimes when clicking on the Eye nothing would happen. One suggestion I'd have is to display the color which the Eye is going to change the room to, sort of a preview of what direction you'll be switching the room to. - I agree with Nusan about the controls for picking up the object. Feels like it should be either flipped or combined on to one button. - More visual and audible indications when something has been interacted with.

Again, great job to the team!

Accelerated Assistant by Local Minimum 2020-10-12T14:39:28Z

Nice spoopy game. Definitely got the impression of an older human with the shuffling feet sound and slow movement.

I don't think I fully understood what had to be accomplished. The only things I noticed that were interactive were the doors ( I noticed whichever door I last interacted with I could toggle from anywhere in the room)

After walking through that door which resets you back to the starting point, there is a door closing sound. Not sure if that's meant to represent the door behind you disappearing?

After multiple restarts of the level, the character speed certainly becomes more of a hinderance though. Maybe they could ride the janitors cart for a short duration lol Oh, having a janitors cart with a bunch of useable items would be interesting.

Purgatory is a Music Store by MattWoelk 2020-10-08T00:35:45Z

Wow, fantastic job! It was refreshing playing a game that's about creating something beautiful. Definitely needed during such chaotic times. The game is quite polished, props to everyone involved! Just a side note, I think it should be optional to move to the next instrument lol I really enjoyed playing the piano.

Lost Labyrinth by Baconinvader 2020-10-07T23:58:38Z

Cool game. Definitely should have read the rules first time around. Good use of risk/reward factor of the passage ways that save you from the dead but also limit your vision. The map was a bit difficult to navigate since everywhere looked the same. I think a mini map would have helped with that. Overall great job :)

Synthloop by atlantian 2020-10-12T14:18:16Z

Cool visualizer. I really like that the repetition of the track matched with the object repetition. Would be interesting to see what gameplay you had in mind for this and see it expanded upon. I love synthwave music so I really digged the art style and audio. This is just nitpicky stuff, but from an art perspective I would try to make the street lamps standout out more from the buildings as they get lost in all the glow from the building lights.

Roundabout Way by Quandtm 2020-10-06T05:31:15Z

Great job, creative and fun to play!

Dream Chaser by Sengi 2020-10-30T19:55:46Z

Fantastic job on...everything! Simple, highly polished, beautiful visually and audibly. I enjoyed attempting to reach the dream, unfortunately we all know how difficult it is to get the balance right :p

PARAD🕑X SECURITY by grizeldi 2020-10-12T13:51:53Z

Great job team! The concept is pretty cool and interesting! I'll be honest though, I don't think I managed to hit the anomaly once lol. As already stated, cross hairs would certainly help. The turn rate of the character felt a bit slow for me but perhaps that's because I was trying to get too close to it. Would love to see this games concept expanded upon!

Doggo in the Woods by 113hz 2020-10-07T18:21:39Z

Glad I'm not the only one keeping the tradition going! Definitely interested to see how the gameplay will unfold!

Wild Loop by Cerebral Bore 2020-10-07T23:44:50Z

Love the water color style! Really liked the animated flickering of the building colors. Would be nice to see that same aspect applied to the characters and vegetation to give more life/ dynamism to the world. The music was great, gave the impression of a laid back town. The game play was fairly simple, having some props to jump over or move around would have added more obstacles. Overall I enjoyed it :) Great job!

Fall from Grace by Corentin Benoit-Gonin 2020-10-12T14:05:21Z

Great job! As stated before, interesting take on the theme and quite unique! Was a bit of a challenge figuring out how everything worked. I think I managed to understand how it all worked by the third level though.

I played the windows version and on the startup screen when it says 'press any key' it doesn't seem like any key actually works, spacebar worked though. I think I also managed to jump outside the hourglass? Not quite sure how but my character did disappear when I jumped towards/into the left side the hourglass wall.

The Infinite Parable by BenSlaney 2020-10-07T19:04:46Z

Loved it :) definitely has the stanley parable vibe to it! The audio was really well done, the radio sounded like a radio and the reverb from the alarm gave it so much depth and really made you anxious as it increased in pitch. Unfortunately I'm of the group unable to figure it out as well lol

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-07T23:27:55Z

I would recommend not copy pasting the same message to every game you 'rate' while self promoting. At the very least actually play and rate the games :/ That's what the jam is about, not winning or being on top.

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-08T02:43:32Z

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this game. Initially I thought the first level was the entire game and that the point was to survive as long as possible. Once the second level loaded in I was like, oh! Cool! Changing the play style with each level kept things interesting and fit well with the theme as the seed evolved. It was interesting to play as one of the creatures that is affected by the seeds growth as well. The art style was simple and elegant which tied well with the music and mood.

So at first I thought the seed was a loaf of bread falling or maybe a peanut lol and maybe the birds were trying to eat it. I also wasn't sure at first if I needed to avoid the clouds. Because of the simplicity of the art style, it's difficult to tell what you can or should interact with at first, not a huge issue though, but perhaps there's a way to help differentiate interactable items. Just my 2 cents :)

Great job overall.

Time Code by Oleksandr Shchavinskyi 2020-10-12T13:39:15Z

Great job to you and your wife! The game played well, looked and sounded great! Took me a second to figure out the best method to use those 'extra time' balls was to move all the blocks first and then use the balls on the second run. The rewind effect is cool, but as mentioned in another comment, you end up waiting for it if you mess up early in the stage. Another issue I ran into was on the level which introduces the electrical barrier. I pushed the box at the top down the stairs thinking I could use it to block the electrical current. Completely missed that the button was up where I found the box, and so I was stuck since the boxes don't reset.

Again, great job to you both!

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-06T22:01:55Z

Hey Oleksandr and Moff, I really appreciate you taking the time to play and review my game! I completely agree with all the comments especially in regards to being over scoped. The actual story and dialogue wasn't added until the very end and was pretty much made up on the spot lol so it definitely was longer than needed to be. Anyways, thanks again!

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-07T16:59:30Z

Blubberquark. When I saw the 30+ options for what platform to choose I wasn't sure if I selected the correct option so I added that description. No smugness intended what so ever :/ I'm not sure why you would automatically assume that tone but I'll change it

Edit: I've tried editing the description multiple times now but it's not saving so I don't know what to do

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-07T21:23:10Z

Thank you everyone for trying out my game! Glad my voice acting worked out ahaha XD

@lazenman Wow congrats!! I wasn't sure if anyone would actually manage to make it that far/ figure it out! Well done!

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-07T21:26:35Z

@corentin-benoit-gonin Thank you for trying it out anyways! I'm really sorry it ended up breaking on you. I encountered a few times where transitioning between tasks broke, but couldn't figure out why. The intro is definitely too long and I wish I had shortened it a bit, definitely needs a skip button :p

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-08T02:26:34Z

@aless Thank you :) Haha, yea I realize the intro is waaay too long and needs to be cut drastically, or at least be skippable. Thank you for trying it out.

Hey @etrealjunior, thank you. I really do appreciate you coming back to try it out and leaving some good feedback. You bring up some good points about solely relying on audio to understand the game, something I didn't think about. One of the reasons my intro was super lengthy was to help those who are new to gaming understand what they need to do. One of my parents isn't a gamer at all, and I knew they were going to try it out. That being said, it still could have been better implemented had I spent more time on it as well as having text based instructions. I'm really glad you liked it and happy to hear you're following me on Twitch :) If you catch me live definitely say hello

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-09T02:33:11Z

@ladmiester @atlantian @flazone Thank you for trying it out! I'm happy you all enjoyed the voice acting and I'm sorry for the game breaking bugs :(

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-11T02:02:18Z

@acaral @geckoo1337 Thank you for trying it out! Really glad you enjoyed the voice acting and project idea. I tried not to go with the standard 'loop' theme and attempted to make something unique :) Will definitely need to shorten the intro, or at least make it skippable lol.

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-11T02:06:25Z

@local-minimum Thank you for trying it out! I'm glad you enjoyed the narration. I had thought about having the voice internalized within the players mind, but for whatever reason I didn't go that route. Something to think about though. There are plenty of bugs in the game I wasn't able to fix unfortunately. Having more freedom after day one is also a good suggestion, thank you!

Dynamics Corporation by GarfSnacks 2020-10-30T19:33:14Z

Thank you all for trying it out! I'm sorry you got stuck due to the bug @ivan-perez :(

@theogen I'm so glad you enjoyed the game and that you made it to the end! 10 Days, props to you for making it that far! Great points about the UIO and ability to jump on boxes. I'll need to make it more clear that you can jump on boxes but without giving too many hints as to what the end goal is.

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-07T23:11:13Z

Wow, this might be my favorite game from this jam! Exceptionally well done, very unique, creative, aesthetically pleasing, and fun!
