Absolutely bleak and unsettling, everything about this makes me uncomfortable in the best way possible.

The control scheme is awesome in how it's both intuitive, fluid and also deliberately inconvenient to build tension, animations feel slick and satisfying, especially reloading and using syringes. Visuals and audio are minimalistic and do a great job a setting the mood.

I love it.

firebelley 2021-04-26 00:21

Everything about this was amazing. I loved how restricting all the controls to the mouse sort of felt like being one-handed. Reloading was stressful in certain encounters, which is good. Great game!

rhys-vdw 2021-04-26 02:45

Mind blowing work. Elegant and creepy as hell. It's also very intuitive and you tutorialized it beautifully. Must have been a long weekend. I'll be keeping on eye on your socials.

I hit a bug where, after entering a map, my revolver appeared to be full (when I expected to have to reload it) and then when I went to fire it was click, click, death.

Also mouse wheel was an odd choice to open a menu... Would be especially confusing for anyone rocking a touchpad.

miziziziz 2021-04-26 03:16

@rhys-vdw I thought it would be funny to have scroll wheel spin the revolver chamber, then I just linked it to opening so I could keep everything mouse-based. And the gun chamber has been the source of the most bugs lol

lomna 2021-04-26 11:58

Amazing work! Really creative use of the theme .The game is creepy and a lack of background music really elevate the mood. Great job!!

sam-bigos 2021-04-26 12:51

Lives up to the Miziziziz name for sure. Very unique concept, well executed. Especially the last level which needed good reaction times. Art and audio is really great too.

Seems like we chose similar movement mechanics for our games :)

judgezedd 2021-04-26 14:56

Sick, disgusting and grim. Which is why I loved it.

Innovative movement mechanics, excellent concept, well executed (aside from a little jank in the menu/inventory side of things) and a compelling use of the theme.

Side note: Assuming you did the sound effects, are you alright?

jetthesimon 2021-04-26 15:03

Really cool concept, was fun to play. Kind of hard on a laptop but what are you going to do?

Really nice graphics, mood.

jafcraze 2021-04-26 15:44

I thought the control scheme was a little weird at first until I started fumbling with the bullets. The last level was nerve-racking but, in the end, I single-handedly escaped the lab :hand_splayed:

aditon 2021-04-26 18:47

Once again blown away by your outside-the-box thinking. This game had me at the edge of my seat freaking out, especially at that final sequence :) Thanks for submitting. I recognized some bugs with movement, sometimes the game would not let me let go, causing me to be unable to move, getting me killed. Thanks so much for submitting!

sweer 2021-04-26 19:00

I really loved the game, but movement felt wayyy to snappy

sevkron 2021-04-26 22:32

This is a great game, execution and all. The aesthetics, the "show don't tell" tutorialization and story. There's a real rise in tension over the course of the levels and you feel it. There's the final level of course but also moments in between, like the dead end where you have to reload quickly before getting caught. A true survival horror experience.

ianthebee 2021-04-26 22:41

Wow... This game is gut-wrenchingly creepy!

I was cringing from the sound effects, because they were so horrifying. This truly is a surreal experience. The movement is super unique, with great gameplay. The graphics are simple but effective, with a lack of post-processing. Everything about this game is pretty much great. A bit too hard though.

Great job.

tescoone 2021-04-26 23:18

This game was actually scary and tense, I enjoyed playing it ! I think it fits your universe perfectly :D

mattincho 2021-04-27 03:15

I ended up loving the reload mechanic (after a lot of replay). Some times, I restarted the lvl without the gun, it felt like a bug, but... added a whole extra layer of anxiety. And the feeling, on reloading, was just the correct amount of desperation. You could benefit a lot from a little more polish on audio, tho'. But it was very interesting and challenging... I LOVED IT.

tobymurray 2021-04-27 04:17

Such a fun set of mechanics. Frantically trying to load your gun with you mouse as if you had one hand, missing the chambers and knowing you don't have much time left, it all comes together so well. Very well done!

lelulagames 2021-04-27 05:54

This is just... unsettling is a good word for it. But when I saw it in my feed I had a feeling it was yours. Very well executed. I do wish I had some sort of indication where the syringe in the level was because I had no idea where I was going, just that the creatures would make me die faster. Otherwise the music, sound effects, and gross graphics work really well together.

notanimposter 2021-04-27 06:25

This is great. My only criticism is that the coughing is _loud_. I love the awful control method. It really captures the experience of only having one limb, without feeling like I can't move quickly, or go where I want.

batjak03 2021-04-27 07:15

This is a truly unique and intriguing game! The movement system and the reloading of the gun/inserting of syringe work so well together. Some of the later levels I found were quite difficult though (one in particular seemed impossible).

gramozilho 2021-04-27 08:03

Hey I didn't need to feel this stressed this early in the morning :(

chewiecb 2021-04-27 15:46

Great mechanics (this guy has some insane arm strength to move that fast haha), the gun mechanic was great and incredibly tense, that last level had my hand cramping trying to feverishly empty and reload stuck in the corridor. Awesome bleak/gross atmosphere overall, music might have added a bit more to it, but the silence/ambient noise kind of works to make it feel lonely/tense?

gamesbysaul 2021-04-27 21:09

I felt very on edge but that's definitely what you want from this kinda game, the actual mechanic of dragging yourself around was genius I loved it. The little audio was really nice too, it just fit the theme perfectly.

My one thing was perhaps that opening the inventory whilst having an infected person come after you could've been more forgiving, maybe by slowing time when the inventory is open? Either way a fantastic entry

styrofoamwaffle 2021-04-28 02:16

The reloading mechanic made for a super tense final scene. I'd love to see something like that used in a larger project. Great Job!

jake-white 2021-04-28 17:08

Great final sequence. Took me until towards the end of the game to realize you have to unload the gun. Great job!

malmorsus 2021-04-28 22:12

This is the most innovative and fun game I've played! Somehow it manages to stay funny and cause sudden fear at certain times)

lenophie 2021-04-29 02:20

What a scary piece! It's rare to see a jam game being this creepy without relying on cheap jumscares or similar, congrats on putting this disturbing experience together!

vimlark 2021-04-30 00:21

Great work. Struggles a lot on the last level bit was able to make it!

exopunk 2021-04-30 00:37

That movement is really creepy and interesting at the same time, i loved it, all the mechanics were very unique. That last sequence was pain inducing but worth it :D

yuri-yakovlev 2021-04-30 13:04

Great work. The game keeps you on your toes.

chrissx2 2021-05-01 01:36

That was actually interesting idea. It should probably be played in full screen, because i was constantly clicking outside of the game borders when i was running away from the mutated thingies. The fact that you have to manually remove shells and put new bullets is crazy. GJ!

zuwu 2021-05-01 03:50

Really fun and enjoyable, the movement is fun and fresh, I liked how everything was mouse based, it was just a little too hard though

sonicpixelation 2021-05-01 04:23

Very fun game. Very tense at the end. Hopefully he rates some more games himself.

chriiis88 2021-05-01 08:09

Interesting game and well executed. Definitely one of the few ones the "mood" category actually applies to. The last level is actually impossible if you don't know it's coming and you don't get enough resources in the previous levels, but if you do get it, it feels very rewarding.

wasd 2021-05-01 08:53

Pretty cool game. I didnt like the last level, i can see what you tried to achieve with it but i dont feel it. Saw the youtube video and im amazed how will this works without any music and just the ambience of your air conditioning

skill347 2021-05-01 09:41

Pretty cool game, I didnt really like the last level, but the controls vere innovative and fresh. Love it.

sadsmile 2021-05-01 11:32

pretty innovative, i especially liked the manual reload mechanic. It isn't balanced well tho. Once a monster has you in its sight you're pretty much done for if your weapon is empty. No way you can reload fast enough.

roidz 2021-05-01 13:22

Wow, i got linked to this game and i didn't knew what to expect. Surely not this. One of the most original games i encountered for a long time. ofcourse there are some balancing issues now and then, this is a jam game. But overall about everything on this game is super impressive.

I enjoyed this a lot!

theaxe316 2021-05-01 14:13

Really great game! The sort of 'manual-ness' of the inventory system really added to the scariness and stress of the game. I loved that last level where you had to reload and shoot as fast as possible to survive. In any other game it would be as simple as pressing R and left clicking until they're dead, but it felt very different in this game. Goes to show that you don't need crazy scary monsters to make a good horror, but making the player feel like they are struggling can contribute to the feeling of horror. The parasite was extremely creepy when I first saw it too!

One thing that I think could have improved this game was limiting how fast you could crawl. I was able to zip right past the enemies because I could move as fast as I moved my mouse. Maybe a limit would contribute to the feeling the other mechanics create.

Incredible job overall!

paroxysmal 2021-05-01 19:11

Good entry. The controls to simulate having only one hand is a nice touch, but it is slightly disjointed with being able to move super fast once you get a handle on the controls.

axlplosion 2021-05-01 19:24

The gameplay is really innovative, and fits the survival horror genre perfectly. Some type of stamina mechanic would be a nice addition, as now you can move around really quickly by just repeatedly pulling yourself forward. You could use the coughing as a stamina indicator, and to spice things up the sound could also alert nearby enemies, I think it could really add to the mood and make players think much more about their movement.

Other than that you did an awesome job with making the game so immersive with all the mechanics and sound design, and your devlog on the game was also really interesting, great work Miz!

sharks 2021-05-02 01:22

Genius idea, super createive mechanics, amazing execution and under 15 hours? Thanks, looks like I have a new goal for my game jams! :)

javicoder 2021-05-02 10:21

amazing entry :O

bereg 2021-05-02 12:40

Wow! Just wow! It's so weirdly beautiful! Everything in this game is so nicely done! The animation, graphics, sound - everything sets the right mood. And the fights are so tense, it almost feels like a horror game. The reloading mechanic is punishing, yet it's appropriate in this game. I had a great time trying to escape from these pesky monsters.

my-name-isnt-bob 2021-05-02 18:37

amazing game, hands down. really puts you on edge

spyranteros 2021-05-03 06:05

Mizizizi, you mad scientist did it again!

purpledartfrog 2021-05-03 08:31

Exceptionel job :thumbsup_tone1: loved the mechanics and the ambience ... feels frantic :thumbsup_tone1:

zackavelli 2021-05-03 22:16

Interesting mechanic that elevates the games frantic pace. The hallway level with lots of enemies is very difficult, and is as far as I could get. I wish the menu system could be brought up and sent away with a key press like "space". Something about my brain makes it confusing to have all of the responsibilities on one hand. I guess it makes sense within the context of the game (only having one hand) but in this case I think it makes the menu system slightly clunky. Other than that subjective critique I thought it was a well done entry.

olddog 2021-05-04 13:32

Nice game , I spent a lot time in last level ; it makes me very nervous , the load off ,get bullet ,and reload shooting system is very deep impression  by the way , I not very understand what is the bug in left works, seems every time the bug is colse to my head ,and nothing happens ; nice job

remus-rain 2021-05-06 09:58

Hey there! Great game! I really liked the movement with the arm. I think this the best thing about this game! It is fun to navigate around the levels.

I think you could have improved the level design a little bit. I could run past everything in 20 seconds until the last level, where I had to shoot for the first time. If you had put some goals for the player to achieve in the levels (like unlocking a door etc.), you would have forced him to fight the enemeis.

Another thing that didn't quite work for me is the inventory which took away more from the fun than it brought, because it is so slow and finicky. Instead, I would love to see the whole game play out in the actual game. I think there could have been a way to make the picking up ammo or reloading work without the inventory, where you have to make some specific moves with the inverse-kinematic arm. That you have to pickup the ammo with the arm and move it towards the gun on the players side or something. That way you would have leaned all the way into the fun arm mechanic and gotten rid of the annoying inventory.

Keep up the great work! See you on youtube! :)

itsisaac 2021-05-06 10:17

Great game! Really does give tense feelings when your hurrying to reload your gun!

namidasai 2021-05-08 20:00

The concepts are extremely well thought out and the core of the game is quite genius. Thought the level design and AI were a bit too punishing. Still a great entry for the COMPO with a lot of great innovation and mood going!

sprotex 2021-05-09 08:54

I'm loving this entry! Great atmosphere, unique mechanics and everything plays well together. You have great intuition about the game design and development process, which is shown in how much time you spent on each thing in your video.

If I were to point something out, it would be the only polishing revolver reloading mechanics or rebinding opening inventory controls (scroll wheel to open inventory is quite weird, I'd prefer right clicking), very minor stuff.

Thank you for making this game!

villanelle 2021-05-11 03:36

I was having fun until I got a gun and it didn't shoot in the moments I wanted it to and that was really necessary for the rest of the game's progression... So I gave up a little after that. But overall a nice entry.

alex-davies 2021-05-13 18:16

Cool idea and good execution of it. I know it's been said by others already, but I do thing that the level design could have catered more to the gameplay, and I also wish that the theme was more prevalent, but overall, a solid experience

nonumbersgames 2021-05-16 15:50

Really fun and engaging game. Sounds added a lot of mood, and movement felt surprisingly satisfying despite the lack of limbs. Having to manage health and ammo shone through in the last level - really felt like I had only one hand and every second mattered - shoot, take out empty, still smoking cartridges, stab yourself with a syringe, add new bullets to the gun, quickly shoot, back off while collecting bullets, take out empty cartridges - it was very intense and immersive experience.
