LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Deepest Threat by Goutye 2021-04-26T15:26:43Z

This polished experience is great!

I love the amount of content, and the art is stellar to go along with it. I love how fleshed out this is, and how much you were able to do in such a short time.

One of the best games from the jam!

Deep Sea Explorer by interface 2021-04-26T14:01:50Z

I like this game. However, the movement feels just a tad sluggish

Doug: A Miner Drilling Incident by aaants 2021-04-26T14:13:52Z

Really solid, with nice graphics and great level design. There's a slight offset with each tiles, which is uncomfortable, but overall the art looks nice. Great job on this game.

Midniight by Ace17 2021-04-26T17:16:53Z

This game is amazing, especially considering you didn't even use a game engine.

I love the art style, and the music sounds really nice. The sound design is great for a jam game. One gripe is the controls, which can feel lacking at times. Especially the jump. I found myself missing platforms by just a tad bit, and the jump feels really short and lacking.

Overall really strong work.

HyperJack by pkenney 2021-04-26T14:40:39Z

I love the out of control nature of this game, and how chaotic it quickly becomes. Its a desperate struggle to keep the jackhammer in control, which lends itself to fun and hilarious gameplay. Love this game, but some things could have been polished out more, such as the physics, the art, and the sound.

Slimes and Sandwiches by Nick Rafalski 2021-04-26T14:04:53Z

Slimes and Sandwiches is a nerve-wracking Wolfenstein style fps game where your constantly looking over your shoulder. Love this game!

The Reverse of the Summit by squigglez 2021-04-26T14:10:35Z

I love this game! The action is intense, and quickly swishing through rocks feels great.

Endoparasitic by miziziziz 2021-04-26T22:41:32Z

Wow... This game is gut-wrenchingly creepy!

I was cringing from the sound effects, because they were so horrifying. This truly is a surreal experience. The movement is super unique, with great gameplay. The graphics are simple but effective, with a lack of post-processing. Everything about this game is pretty much great. A bit too hard though.

Great job.

Jelly fall by mockthebear 2021-04-26T15:01:49Z

Im not sure what to think here... the link is just... Memes...

Not sure where the game is, but uh... the cover art looks cool!

:3

Geocnetric Go! by appix 2021-04-26T16:03:04Z

Haha! This microphone concept is amazing!

I love how the microphone mechanic work, it was a delight to scream at tactfully! The graphics have a bubbly, cartoony feel to them. The lack of audio is acceptable, especially since your screaming the whole time :sweat_smile:

Overall great entry!

Oh No, My Ball!! by rhewid 2021-04-26T14:23:02Z

This game was really good, and had a really good and funny concept behind it.

Lava Runner by ShaggyFox 2021-04-26T15:09:32Z

I loved the intensity of this game!

I found myself constantly saying "come on... dig faster..." under my breath while playing through this, which lends itself to close and fun moments. Collecting gems gives a fun challenge, while adding more pressure to do well. Great job with the graphics, although audio was lacking.

Overall amazing experience, great job making this game!

Lava Runner by ShaggyFox 2021-04-26T15:58:09Z

@shaggyfox Thanks for responding, but I actually prefer the slower speed :sweat_smile: sorry for the miscommunication on my part!

Make A Wish by J0ye 2021-05-12T15:09:29Z

Cool idea! I like the coin arc, great graphics, realistic sound effects... great but simple game.

Keep up your end of the deal...

Quick Scrap by Vimlark 2021-04-26T18:02:44Z

Nice game!

I think that the movement is probably what makes this game stand out most. It really feels fluid and smooth. The graphics look great, and the monsters are creepy. Audio is good, and the music is probably the best you've made.

A couple gripes: When walking off a ledge with tentacles on it, you die, which feels unforgiving and frustrating. Also, the game is hard. It could have been a bit easier, with less enemies and less tight passages.

Overall, I really like this game. Great art, music, and gameplay makes this one of the better entries in the jam.

Spelunking Simulator Pro 2022 by roryh 2021-04-26T14:57:10Z

This game feels very polished, and very fleshed out.

It's nice to see a precision platformer, especially in a game jam, with a really fleshed out. The graphics look simple but great, and fit very well. Hitboxes were unforgiving, which isn't what you want in a game such as this.

This is definitely a great entry in the jam, and im glad you made this. Top marks.

ScanR by CharlieGray 2021-04-29T17:42:31Z

Wow! Love this game. I made a very similar game (I saw your comment on mine :smile:), but this was extremely nerve-wracking. I was swinging my mouse around, desperately trying to reveal my surroundings in such a dark space. This concept was extremely innovative, and the theme ties in well. The graphics look great, love the lighting effects! The audio could use a bit of work, but I understand the time limit was very restricting :). Great job on this game!

Spellunker by Naamed 2021-04-30T20:14:43Z

Game is great! The gameplay feels great, with good graphics and good audio to back it. Great game!

The Clownfish Home by crazyMouse 2021-04-26T13:53:04Z

This game is really neat. I love the mechanic of having to dodge out of the way like a racing car. I would prefer if the fish was a little faster. Also, I didn't get the illusion that I was going deeper, more that the trash was coming up at me.

Down Under by TheAppleCake 2021-04-30T20:32:01Z

A nice, relaxing mining game.

I was very impressed by the amount of visual polish, as well as the great music. The sound effects sounded great, and the gameplay was nice. I think that this game could use a bit more variety in gameplay, but I understand that this is a jam game. Great job on this entry.

Fetch Ball! by koalatte 2021-04-26T14:48:19Z

This game didn't fit the theme whatsoever, and also didn't have the greatest experience. The camera is way too zoomed in, without a way to zoom out, so you have to guess where the ball will land. It was frustrating to try to catch the balls. Also, it has no audio and the graphics are stiff and unmoving.

I'm 14 and by Krac3r 2021-05-12T15:01:41Z

This is quite clearly one of your first games, but i'm glad you finished.

This game isn't a masterpiece, it didn't keep me immersed, but i'm glad that it exists solely because of the experience it gave you. You will learn so much from this experience, and hopefully you keep going and make better games. As a 12 year old myself, i'm always trying to learn, and I have some criticism to hopefully help you learn in the future.

1) The Controls need work. The newgrounds page scrolls when the arrow keys are pressed, but in the game itself, there is nothing to help the player out. Coyote time, which will allow you to jump shortly after leaving a platform, can be implemented in construct by simulating jump if you press the up arrow about 0.2 seconds after leaving a platform. The jump is also waaaay too high, and the platforming isn't engaging because of that.

2) The camera, as mentioned by @youthfulidealism, is not lerped, making it feel choppy and stiff.

3) No audio present. There are several great programs, such as sfxr, or chiptone. (https://sfbgames.itch.io/chiptone)

4) The graphics could use some work. Try devoting a bit more time to making them, but you don't actually have to make much art. You could have used a cube, which honestly would have looked better. Try to add squash and stretch, by making separate objects for the player graphics, and the player collision, and pin them together. Then, on certain calls, change the player graphics width and height accordingly.

But overall, even though this isn't the best game, i'm happy you were able to upload it, and finish on time. Great work.

Goblin Philosopher by Jibberwocky 2021-04-26T14:17:07Z

Hilarious game, with amazing art to go with it. I found myself chuckling over and over, and was impressed with the quality.

Mullet Time by Lajbert 2021-04-26T16:00:22Z

I love this game, with the impressive addon of being with your own engine!

The Spartan Kick is inspired, if a bit weak, and the gunplay feels good. I love the music, and everything looks great and sounds great. I think the UI could be closer to the player, as @cammin said, but impressive game overall!

Moss Light by Zykra 2021-04-26T17:55:41Z

I really like this randomly generated tower defense game.

In my opinion, the balancing could do with some work. Also, way too hard. I may have a bias against tower defense games in general, since I don't like them that much, but really good overall. I think that the graphics look great, and the music and audio sounds amazing as well.

Great game.

Deeper Devils by 3amsoda 2021-04-26T14:49:58Z

Dropping down the well was great, and the game feels fun. A bit too hard, though.

I love the Wolfenstein style graphics, but it makes decision making hard and frustrating. Overall, I like this game alot.

The Cavern Of Madness by Nature Studioz 2021-04-26T14:45:48Z

I love the WHEEEEEE! Sound effect! it was very funny and gave me a good chuckle. I like the mechanics, and enemies. Perhaps a bit more polish could do. Overall, very nice game!

Into The Depths by Jason Wilson 2021-04-26T15:03:38Z

I love this game!

This experience is extremely polished, and fleshed out, with a few minor bugs that @branden-wilson and @sugarsugarsugar pointed out. Overall, the graphics are probably some of the best in the JAM, and looks great.

Great job finishing the creating this game.

Beession Impossible by mathewcst 2021-04-26T16:53:39Z

HA! that title!

I love the way Beession impossible plays. It's a standard platformer with great controls, and great pixel art to go along with it.

Nice job!

Deep To Hell by Jacky Chan 2021-04-26T13:49:07Z

Fun concept, and cool game! I wish that it was a bit easier to know what was going on, and i also wish the player didn't fall offscreen. Other then that, great job!

Deep in the Well by TheNiceGuy 2021-04-26T13:55:34Z

I enjoyed this game, it had a really neat concept. I really like the concept of random conditions, but the gameplay felt just a bit lacking.

Deep Minin' by TeuGamer09 2021-04-26T15:47:01Z

Interesting game, with good graphics and nice homemade music.

I like the core mechanic, and the feature of skins is really nice. However, I think it could have done with a bit more gameplay variety. It's not fun to hold left or right and spam space, and i think the concept just isn't strong enough.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T14:20:22Z

@the-neon-shark Totally agree. From a game design perspective, seeing the bigger picture would have been much better. I suppose i wanted it too feel claustrophobic and nerve wracking, but this was not the way to do it. Anyways, thank you so much for playing and leaving feedback!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T14:41:39Z

@untitled-studios Thanks for the great feedback! It's true that painting the dungeon with the gun feels a bit useless, but i wanted a way to reveal things around you without having to go over it. Thanks so much for your time.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T14:57:51Z

@rhewid thanks so much for playing my game! @the-neon-shark was definitely right, a camera that wasn't so zoomed would have helped. Thanks for the feedback, and for your time!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T15:06:11Z

@toasteater Thanks for the feedback!! Yeah, I'm sort of regretting making the camera so zoomed in. It doesn't lend itself to fun gameplay, and you can't get a sense of the bigger picture. The Boss cheese was known, and was more of an alternative strategy lol. Thanks for your time!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T16:15:53Z

@shaggyfox Thanks so much! I really enjoyed your game too :)

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T19:12:59Z

@ghost-wave Thanks for the feedback!

@ehtd Thank you so much! I tried to juice this game up a little more then usual :sweat_smile:

@samurguy Thank you! Yeah, the drops were meant to be scary, and im glad you like the art!

@mdotedot Yeah... I should have zoomed out the camera to account for that. Sorry for the random drops!

@unpronounceable Yeah, that could have been fixed with a zoomed out camera

Thank all of you so much for the feedback!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T19:18:25Z

@mockthebear Thanks!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T19:23:56Z

@chiller Cool! I'll have to check that game out. Thanks for playing!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T20:01:33Z

@fuzzypurplepixel Thanks. Yeah, the one hit death was intentional, but it is a bit annoying.

@clemonades Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, it took pretty much the first half of the first day to pull of the painting mechanic. There's source code if you want to know how.

@vimlark Thanks, that means a lot coming from you.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T20:02:50Z

@squigglez Thanks! Yeah, the spikes were a bit overkill at time. Also, I'm REALLY kicking myself for not using a wider view haha :joy:

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T20:04:43Z

@kroyisyork-games Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I realized how the waves looked in game after the jam. Sorry about that!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T21:34:10Z

@tyaka Thanks!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-26T21:57:48Z

@petitpois Thanks for the feedback, im glad you liked it!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T04:26:30Z

@zfert Thanks!

@alec Thank you! I started at about 10, and have been trying to improve ever since.

@interface Thank you! Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I probably should have made the spike hitbox a bit more lenient. Thanks for the comment.

@gonzalo-antuna Thanks for the feedback!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T13:21:43Z

@maple Thanks for the feedback! I wanted the paint to stay, but i couldn't figure out how to code it in :sweat_smile:

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T13:41:47Z

@brainstorm67 Thank you!

@joskerdu Thanks ^^

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T13:44:06Z

@landerack Ah, yeah, It would have been nice to have an ability to 'cheat' and see the whole map. Thanks for the feedback!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T13:50:05Z

@korfi Thanks! Yeah, the camera could have been more zoomed out to prevent that. Also, the shockwave was way too unnoticeable. Thanks for the feedback!

@landerack Ah, got it. Thanks for the kind words!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T14:02:21Z

@upcharlie Thank you! I most likely will try to 'remaster' this game in the future.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T14:07:04Z

@rouge-dragon Thanks!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T14:37:17Z

@jason-wilson Thank you! I also think that the spikes can blend in a bit too much, and the boss cheese is not that fun. The death effect was meant to be jarring, but was probably a bit too jarring haha. Thanks for the feedback, Jason!

@smelly-games Thank you! I will definitely try to expand this game in the future, thanks for an idea.

@hestrateja Thank you!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T14:41:19Z

@cireneikual222464 Thank you! Yeah, the boss cheese was unfortunate.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T14:50:58Z

@mitsouko Thank you! I might add a limited paint mechanic if I expand the game in the future.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T15:53:00Z

@galactgames Thanks!

Thanks, @davision and @alexdart

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T16:46:05Z

@shaolin-dave Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, it would have been nice if I implemented more accessible controls, and limit the players paint gun. These are all good ideas, thanks for the comment!

@jokerbomb Thank you! I think the paint will stay after death if i update the game, and the camera will be zoomed out to remove blind drops.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T16:46:34Z

@sadsmile Thanks!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T17:34:08Z

@ondy1985 Thank you! Yeah, the difficulty is a bit wack :sweat_smile:

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T17:45:59Z

@retrome Thank you! The death sound is a bit jarring, the sound will be weakened when i expand further on this game.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T18:02:28Z

@junamai Thank you! I will still zoom the camera out for the expanded version, but i'm glad you liked it!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T18:22:15Z

@luc-creationallabs Thank you!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T19:10:20Z

@cassowary Thanks! The spikes placements were pretty infuriating at times, I didn't put much thought into them...

@sodaro Thanks for the comment! I will definitely keep the paint you produce when you die. Also, the spikes suffered from hitbox problems, making it easy to hit them as the player but not with the bullets. I will fix these issues in the future!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T19:39:15Z

@pedro-miranda Thank you!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T21:50:26Z

@norris-eldridge Thank you! Since the music I made wasn't that great, i didn't want the player to have to listen to it super loud, especially since i didn't have time for a mute feature.

@nivbeth Thanks! I tried to juice up the boss kill, to make it satisfying to finally beat. Thanks for the review!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T23:18:41Z

@nyanpierre Thank you!

@jvolonte Yeah, the tension before that first death is real! Thanks for the comment!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-27T23:56:16Z

@oeschmid Thanks! When I expand this game, you will most likely be able to keep the paint after death, and have a limit to how much paint you have.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T00:14:52Z

@flashviper Hi! If you're talking about how I made the effect in construct, I used the paint canvas object. You can check out the source code on the itch.io page.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T01:23:09Z

@nature-studioz Thank you! I don't use unity. I use construct 3.

@evil-villain-games The construct project is on the Itch.io Page. Thanks for the comment!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T03:47:57Z

@superpokeunicorn thank you! I will expand on my game in the future, and there will definitely be more paint interactions :)

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T11:27:32Z

@danvil Hi, I know it does, that's why there's a full screen button ^^

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T13:45:11Z

@taran-unraveler Good idea! I'll add that in the final game :)

@bidentworks Thanks! The dying sound effect is a bit jarring, and the music a bit quiet. The paint will most likely stay, to give a greater sense a progression.

@lucky-trident Thanks! That's really kind of you to say :smile:

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T14:36:55Z

@tom-robson Thank you! The paint will be kept in the game after death, as suggested, and it is probably a good idea to highlight the thing that killed you. I like the idea of red paint. Thanks for all the suggestions!!

@stroe-andrew Thank you!

@zhi Got it. I couldn't really understand your comment that well, but I think you mean that the spikes are too random, and instill too much fear into the player? Thanks for the comment anyway!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T14:48:37Z

@iron-leonem Yeah. My mom made me start a coding class at 10. I found myself loving making games, but hating writing syntax. So I switched to an engine more focused on design, and on Christmas, I got a license of Construct 3. I've been using it a lot since then, and I've loved using it. I'm trying to make as many small projects as I can to improve my skills, and maybe make a little dough :flushed: Thanks for this comment, it was very kind!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T15:05:43Z

@iron-leonem Cool! Yeah, I'm glad I was able to learn syntax, so I can use it when I need it.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T15:17:57Z

@meep Thanks! The Paint will stay in the final game.

@yamzho Wow! Thanks!

@usenrame Basically, When the paint object touches a wall I make a splash, and make the part of the splash overlapping the wall visible. DungeonPainterExample.png

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T15:18:57Z

@arttu-halonen Thank you! The Post-Jam game is already in development :)

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T16:52:35Z

@she-wrote Yeah, That's True. Thanks for the comment!

@todward Thank you! I'm working on the Post-Jam version right now.

@wandersen Never heard of that game. I will look that up later. Thanks for the comment!

@timtipgames Thanks! I'll be sure to introduce unique ways to use paint in the post jam game.

@krammetje Thank you! Yeah, spikes are a bit annoying

@devmerlin Thank you!

@phlebas Thanks! more particles could have been used, and I might add random colors for every room.

THANK YOU ALL!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T17:21:07Z

@moritz-jaeger Thank you! The spikes are a pit frustrating, I agree. That's why I tried to make the rooms a bit small to account for that.

@martin183 Thanks! Im kind of a huge beginner when it comes to music, so I tried to make the best thing I could. Glad to hear it sounded okay!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T18:16:04Z

@inappropriatename Thank you! I'm liking your ideas

@devastus Thank you! The slow and steady feel definitely dragged down the experience.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T19:06:13Z

@jusw85 Thank you! I will inform the player he can hold, and I might play with making the camera movable.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T19:25:45Z

@stuartc Thank you! The Paint is there to provide a way to safely reveal your surroundings. Level design wasn't the easiest in such a short jam, but I tried my best!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T19:32:31Z

@xparker Oh no! What comment did I miss? :frowning2: Thanks for the comment!

@heidelbert Thank you!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T19:35:55Z

@iuunno Thank you! The spikes are frustrating, but i'm glad that was weakened by the short levels. The Boss fight was whipped together in the final 2 hours, but it turns out a lot of people actually liked it!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T20:01:22Z

@xparker Oh :rofl:

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-28T23:13:30Z

@nbumgardner Thank you! In the post jam version, the camera is 1.5x zoomed out :)

@merlinnsound Thanks! I really tried to make a tight little experience as fun as possible.

@landosilva Thank you! I really tried to kick up the post-processing, particles, and juice for this game.

@caiolima Ha! Thanks. I've heard a lot about this 'Unfinished Swan' game. It sounds cool!

@daniel-whittaker Thank you! Stay tuned for the post jam version! My itch.io is IanTheBee.

@briibot Thank you! I'm expanding this game, and I see a lot of potential in this idea! I'm glad I didn't put more spikes. I've gotten some feedback that the game is a bit hard... even more spikes would have probably tanked my ratings a bit. The Boss was something I was hesitant to make, but it seems a lot of people appreciated it!

@f1refoks Thanks!

@nahuelito Thank you! I'm not sure how to make the spikes more distinct in the post-jam... will have to think about that.

@frokes Thank you! Yeah, will probably add a paint limit in the post-jam.

@galina Thanks! Some mechanics will be reworked.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-29T02:18:55Z

@quantumseagull Ha! I seriously need to check out The Unfinished Swan, I keep hearing about it everywhere! Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-29T13:18:46Z

@illabom Thank you!

@tanner-shelton Thank! The spikes are pretty hard to distinguish at times.

@olddog Thank you!

@zeha WOW! Thanks for the great rating my friend!

@solweak Yeah, the slow and steady nature isn't exactly the most 'fun' thing. Thanks for the comment!

@arancutter Thanks! The death sound has already been lessened in the post-jam version, and maybe i'll have a random shoot sound effect every time you fire :thinking:

@wakobu Thank you! The camera in the post-jam is 1.5x zoomed out, making spikes a bit less unfair :) The theme was something that wasn't very well implemented.

@charliegray Wow, really? I'll check your game out! Thanks for the comment!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-29T19:19:56Z

@duvey Thank you! The Post-Jam game is going well :)

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-30T02:33:09Z

@pkenney Thanks! I was planning to add coyote time, but TOTALLY forgot. Sorry about that! The slipperiness of the player was intentional. I'm glad you liked it. Spikes are bad because they're totally static, and frustrating to get hit by. I will keep them, but the enemies idea is great!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-30T02:42:01Z

@squidly Thanks for the comment! In the post-jam, I might add the ability to move the camera...

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-30T03:11:59Z

@heiach Thank you! Yeah, I saw your stream. Spikes will probably be lessened, and I might add enemies that glow.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-30T13:30:19Z

@runuchok Thank you! I'll take some notes from portal's design... Thanks for the advice!

@fpi'Thank you!

@cornflowerblue Thank you! The momentum thing is true

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-04-30T23:33:47Z

@felo07 Thanks!

@vladadamm Thanks! I saw your game, and I agree the mechanic was very similar. Thanks for the feedback on the graphics. I added many particles, and lots of post-processing. Being able to spam has been removed in the post-jam. It was something that kind of bothered me, but didn't have time to remove. The level ends didn't have a sound effect, fade out, or anything. That should have been fixed. Boss starting was something I also didn't like, and is something I also couldn't fix in time.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-01T20:39:38Z

@asue Thanks!

@skosnowich Thank you. I'm glad you were fine with the very small 200px200p resolution. The spikes were a bit unfair, so I made the camera 1.5x zoomed out in the post-jam. The music was whipped up in beepbox in 10 minutes. Glad you still liked it!

@tanis Thanks!

@tezza48 Thank you. I wanted the player to paint over the bosses eye to block it, but I couldn't figure it out. Maybe in the post-jam.

@asdehielo Thank you. The music was only 4 measures looping, I made it waaaay too late.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-01T23:44:38Z

@theapplecake Thank you! The hitbox of the spikes are a bit too big, I agree :) The reason the second key door didn't open is because there were 2 keys. If you got both the keys... I gotta fix that :joy:

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-02T17:44:09Z

@xpoho Um... I had to translate it, and yeah, that's the game! (Translation: "In the black depths of unexplored caves, secrets lie inaccessible to a mere mortal. Only the most courageous and brave heroes, able to overcome the impenetrable darkness, will be able to reach the end and survive. Thanks for playing ^_^") I mean, your welcome? I guess???

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-03T00:31:24Z

@siberpunk01 Thanks! This is the 5th time I've heard of 'Unfinished Swan'.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-03T13:43:55Z

@eden-shazar Thank you. The paint is limited in the post-jam and the camera is zoomed out by 1.5x.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-04T18:49:25Z

@54t4nmi5t Thank you! You're right about the slow and steady pace. Maybe I'll add a timer, or even a speedrun stopwatch to encourage faster play. Maybe the paint will slowly come off? I'll think about it in the post-jam!

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-05T03:35:29Z

@noteworthy Thank you! The Boss was crammed into the game in the last 2 hours (never a good idea), hoping it would make the game a little less repetitive. Glad you liked it.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-14T00:07:41Z

@j0ye True! The camera is 1.5x zoomed out in the post-jam, (unreleased). You're right about the spikes, they looked like ramps at times. Thanks for coming through with your end of the deal.

Dungeon Painter by IanTheBee 2021-05-18T03:27:28Z

@cymansap Thanks for your comment! I totally agree with your comment, painting was mindless, and boring and tedious. More level design elements or a paint limit was needed. (It's in the post-jam :])

@limbo Thank you!

Elemental Slime by rayriver 2021-10-06T00:28:27Z

Awesome! This game is super cute! I love the elemental puzzles, and there's quite a lot of depth! I also love the paper mario like graphics. However, I do think that the health mechanic is- a bit useless. The health doesn't do much for the game when you can't really die.

Instability by R3L0ad1 2021-10-09T20:53:21Z

Really really enjoyable! The respawn is a bit too long, but the gameplay is smooth, the art is minimalistic but pleasant, and the music is nice as well! Good work!

Game Invaders by Adrieldf 2021-10-06T22:43:14Z

Nice game! I like the art, and shredding through enemies with tons of bullets is very satisfying. One complaint is that the movement feels a bit slippery and fast, and it's hard to position in front of the ladybugs. Great game though!

Not Breakout by franticCoder 2021-10-05T23:47:04Z

One of my favorite games of the jam. I love the brilliant design, the crunchy sound effects, and the stellar art! It's awesome that you made a 6 hour game experience in such a short time, with such a rich story! Great work!

All jokes aside, theres no link.

Unstable Journey by silvrgear 2021-10-06T00:32:39Z

Cool game! I really like the art, and the mechanics are pretty good, but at first I didn't realize I was dying. It's also just a touch unpolished.

Clammy and the Seven Seas by IanTheBee 2021-10-07T20:18:11Z

@lunacyecho Thank you! I'd played Sokpop's "pocket watch" game recently, and was really inspired by the minimalist nature of the game! :)

@leokrechmer Sorry, but the oxygen meter is a key part of the game :sweat_smile:

Afwas by thomz12 2022-04-12T02:55:12Z

Very fun game! I like the pixel art style, and the music is nice too. The Leaderboard is a great feature. Nice game! Sometimes the dropping seems a bit inconsistent, and it's pretty hard. Good job on this entry though :)

The Lute & The Liar by ConnorThompson 2022-04-12T02:46:53Z

I really love the art style! The rhythm combined with the movement was very neat. I think a cool idea could be having the rhythm keys mapped to the movement keys.

Balloon Drift by matt1will 2022-04-12T03:17:11Z

Awesome fun game. The graphics were cute, and the audio was really nice as well. Just a perfect little jam game, and it fits the theme very well. Good job!

Hungry Hungry Bird by IanTheBee 2022-04-06T13:37:20Z

@hcs-hades Thanks for the comment! The music was actually made by my friend SpaceSpy :)

@yaen Man, i'm very sorry about the music bug. I will fix that after the rating period :)
