uhhh, is the gamejolt page not having the download?
It looks really nice, would love to play it. So, pleeeeease, notify when it would be downloadable.
@shreemp @jul-li Sorryyyyy, I thought it was downloadable, gosh dang it!!! I forgot to click the publish button when I was done doing the page! If you're still interested, I've fixed the problem (XD)!!!
Interesting take on the theme. I would argue, that if you touch lava you're more of a puddle than a toast. Gameplay is great, you achieved "just one more time, i feel that I can do better"-ness. Some instructions on the controls inside the game would be helpful. As I said, graphics are really nice. Background music is catchy, but it did lack some sound effects. Other then that - it's a great game. You can make quite a mobile app if you want to continue working on it.
@jul-li Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad to hear you liked it! I did get a little lazy near the end with no sound-effects, but I have never made a video game sound effect in my life so I'm not gonna be too upset about that (XD)!
The gameplay on your game work pretty well. I quite like that the difficulty increase over time, I feared at start that nothing was going to change, but hey, it did!
As @jul-li said, some sound FX could add something to your game. Something like [sfrx](https://sfxr.me/) can help creating simple blips & blops in no time.
Another thing could be to add a way to know *how* to play the game. I add to read at your description in this page to understand that I could double jump and regenerate.
Overall, that's a nice game, and with some more polish, it could be really nice (but well, it's a jam game, having time to polish everything is *hard*). Good job!
Great work! I was able to mostly just double jump straight up with only one of the variations making me go right or left, so I was never pressed for time recharging. Graphics were great. Awesome entry, thanks for making it.
@chocolat-endive Thanks for playing my game! I would've added a tutorial in the game, but I kinda ran myself out of time near the end and I just wanted to get it out there (XD)! I'll need to check into making sound effects on my own, but thank you for sending me that website! Had no idea it existed! ;D
@mooncalf Thank you!!! My brother actually found out about that stratagy of just jumping through everything, so I'm not too surprised to hear someone found it (XD)! I'm glad you liked the graphics, and thank *you* for playing it! ;)
Wow, the game is very pleasing visually, the sprites are great, the lighting is well done, particles are well used, color effects are smooth, animations too etc. So yeah, it is easy to see that you're primarly an artist xD. Gameplay wise the game is very simplistic but it works, it's effective and well scoped.
NOOOOOOO THIS IS SO CUTEEE!!!! Also it's really satisfying to have this strong visual feedback while pressing R to regenerate! The game got me hooked quite some time. Though I'd love when i didn't ahve to start all over again from the very beginning. Because until the score surpases 1000 the gameplay is quite easy and it's a bit frustrating to play through the easy beginning over and over again when i'm here for the juicy bits! >:) This could also be solved when the difficulty would pick up faster. Other than that i had a great time and i'm in love with this little ice cube <3
@pordrack Thank you very very much! I'm glad you liked the visuals as that's probably where 30% of my time went (XD)! The gameplay is very simple, but I drained my time and couldn't really add too much more! Thanks for leaving me some feedback!
@riley9 Thank youuuuuu! I am aware about the game having a slow startup, but that's mostly just so people who haven't played the game can have an easier time (;D)! If I decide to update the game on my own time, it would be very easy to add a difficulty slider, so I may take time to do that! I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for leaving me such great feedback! uwu
Got to a high score of 3500 so I think it's safe to say I have a lot of fun playing the game  That said, like any game, it (in my opinion) a few flaws.
1) The movement's time scale is so slow it feels kind of floaty at times.
2) I would argue that, since it's an "endless runner", death *technically* isn't inevitable, and hence the connection to the theme can be a bit loose.
Don't let those nitpicks fool you though- overall, I think the art and music is really well produced, and love how the levels are generated procedurally despite the game being made in just a few days. Good job!
Btw I would appreciate if you could give my game a shot too :D
@arihan10 Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it, dispite it's flaws! I apologize that since I'm doing this on a computer that isn't mine, I can't really download your game... :P (I've only been playing web games so far)
The game escalates smoothly and has great visual design. I like how you used Slippy Joe's expression as an indicator for when you need to recharge, as well as the bar at the bottom of the screen. I had my eyes on the middle and bottom of the screen for the most part, and never felt I wasn't aware of the situation in either case. The color changes are a very nice touch, too. Awesome!
@mavvy I'm glad you liked it! I did spend a lot of time making sure your health wouldn't sneak up on you, and I'm glad it shows (:D)! Thank you for playing my game and taking enough time to write feedback on it!
at first i was like, ok so i've been dodging lava so far so good but is this it? then i jumped with slippy joe's head above the top of screen... at the same time it was time to introduce projectiles,,,,,,
it's addicting and the visuals are very cozy like a fireplace, which is probably bad for an ice cube :weary:
@shreemp Yeah, everybody who playtested it for me experienced the exact same thing (XD)!
Cool game
I really like how the palette changes when the character recharges, and the recharge mechanic smoothly blends with the game. The double jump also makes it less punishing and makes the game more enjoyable. Although the music is generated, it fits the game quite well. Nice job
@specturnal Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I spent a good deal of my time on the recharge effect, so I'm happy it worked out! :D
this game reminded me of an old game Icytower
Cool little endless runner (literally).
Like others, I like the spritework and the cold effect when you max out the meter.
I do have some nitpicks with the gameplay: - The difficulty does ramp up a little slowly, which makes additional attempts somewhat tedious. - I think it should not be possible to collide with the sides of the platforms, as it is somewhat annoying. You could have walls as a separate obstacle though.
Something I really like is the ability to start freezing in midair. This enables you to do some regeneration during otherwise dead time, but does require some thought so that you don't plunge yourself into lava. I think it's a really good mechanic.
Also, the music goes hard. I'm kind of surprised it's AI generated.
@marvis & @honey-pony, Thanks for your feedback! Tbh with the platforms, I didn't mean for you to be able to hit the sides, I was just too lazy to find the problem (XD)!
Love the artstyle, and the gameplay is fun. Music is nice too.
Thank you very much, @ianthebee! :D
Really nice art! I'd recommend telling the player the controls in game because I usually try not to rely on the game page for control information. A bit more variety (moving platforms, lava balls flying up from the bottom of the screen etc.) would definitely make this game replayable for longer. Great entry, you should be proud.
@cakts Thank you, man! I totally would've put a tutorial in the game, but I was struggling with time as it was, so I made a stratigic decision not to (XD)! I'd like to see how much more I could cram into this game, but thankfully I am proud with where I came out at! Thank you for playing my game, you should be the 20th rating, so now I'm looking forward to seeing my average stars... >:D
Very good game, the visuals and music are great! I really like that you put good visual cues for player feedback.
I would also suggest this tool [ChipTone](https://sfbgames.itch.io/chiptone) for sfx generation
@chingle Thanks, I'm glad people are liking the regenerate visuals I added! :)
Really liked this one! The platformer controls were overall pretty good, but I did find it slightly annoying when I collided with the edge of a platform and lost my momentum. Loved the visuals, the palette was a good choice and well used and the music choice was also great and matched the feel pretty well. I would appreciate a faster way to start over when I died, like others mentioned the difficulty ramp was pretty slow and I agree there but also, I'd just like to not have to reach for my mouse to reset every time, maybe just letting me keep using the keyboard for those menu buttons would help? Great game, thank you!
@aevek I give a thanks right back to ya, I'm glad you liked it (;D)! I wish I had figured out how to make the buttons keyboard based, as that is an issue that bothers me as well; Thankfully they're just menu buttons, so I don't think it takes away from it too much! :)
At first I didn't know how the regenerate, because I didn't read the instructions, but that's on me. π Overall very well done and I had a lot of fun. Love the regeneration animation!
One of the best games i played so far. Movement, music, visuals everything solid. Really good job!
@peter-sc Yeah, still kinda regretting not putting the tutorial in game (XD)! Thank you for liking it enough to leave feedback! :)
@milan8890 Thank you very much! I tried my best to polish everything to the max, so I'm glad it shows! :D
What a great job you did here my friend!! xD as an artist I tell you that the work on the animations, on the palette used, on the character and stage design is all great. The music you chose is very good, it makes the gameplay more frenetic jaja! Sometimes I found myself with problems jumping, the character would get stuck and not jump correctly, maybe it's a bug in my PC or in the game, I wouldn't know. Really a great job for one person in such a short time, well done!! Congratulations!!
@emaigualmc2-art Thank you so so much (uwu)! I'm glad the art stuff holds up, as I'm still relatively new to it (about 2-3 years learning pixel art off youtube)! I would have to guess that the jumping problems are to do with the game and not your computer, as I really didn't test it too much.
Great work! Gameplay is fun (though I'm notoriously bad at this genre, lol). The art is perfect - Slippy Joe is adorable. Love the "regen" mechanic too.
Thank you, @saintchristopher777! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
A game inspired by Icy Tower with a literal ice cube as the protagonist. I love the cute artstyle! A cool feature to maybe add in the future would be an option to choose your own controls. Sadly - for some reason my antivirus thinks the game is a threat, so for now I couldn't get that far.
@lletzgogames You're actually the second person to bring up that game, but I seriously had no idea it existed (XD)! Thank you for leaving some feedback on it, even though you couldn't play it very long! :D
I managed to get 2655 as my high score!
The art was cute, and the game was quick to pick up and start playing.
It was neat that you put the two core gameplay mechanics (climbing and regenerating) at odd with one another. You needed to do both to stay alive, but couldn't do them at the same time.
If you could have introduced more player choice, it would have been even more compelling. As it stands, the correct choice was _always_ to climb to the top of the screen, and regenerate until you could jump to the next platform. The projectiles later on in the level did help offset that a bit.
Well done overall, solid work!
@andrewkennedy Yay, thank you (:D)! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I did actually add another thing around the score you got to, that made it more difficult to survive! I definitely made them show up too late, but I added some lava that falls from the top of the screen, requiring you to move across the screen! I hope it wasn't too boring without those!
Took me a while to learn the mechanics but overall it was really cool. Could use sound effects though.
@makiling-interactive-arts Thank you for playing! I am aware of the lack of sound effects, but I've got no experience in creating them! XD
