LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Recursive Dreams by LoHii 2021-04-29T09:33:11Z

Very cool gameplay mechanic which was implemented quite well. At some points going to sleep and awakening on places was quite frustrating as it was almost impossible to know where I'll end up waking, and couple of points I lost quite a bit of progression by just awakening at a wrong spot. Also the parts with the spinning moons were a bit too hard as I got stuck for about 40 deaths in the long strip with two moons going back and fort. Other than that the main idea of the game is very clever and I enjoyed it quite a lot. The graphics were well done and they fit idea very well. The sounds were decent, but I would have liked to have the sound effects to be quieter, as they really popped up from the background track in a distracting manner. Overall great work!

It also seems that we picked very similar take on the theme, but we went in really different directions :D

Corpse Clue by nusan 2021-04-29T11:22:17Z

Very original and innovative with a really strong atmosphere! This could work great as a puzzle, and would easily be one of the most memorable parts, in a horror game.

Erasmus Singh: The DEEPHUNTER by SimoGecko 2021-04-28T21:13:56Z

Quite fun game with gorgeous artwork! The submarine was a bit frustrating to control as steering was really hard and I ended up feeling multiple times like I couldn't stop myself from dying multiple as a bunch of mines just appeared out of nowhere and killed me. The shock button doesn't seem to do anything? Maybe that could have helped in those kinds of situations. And again the illustrations are amazing.

Altius by Random Thoughts 2021-04-28T16:15:45Z

A nice little game with clear progression. I wish going deeper wouldn't have costed anything, as my first playthrough was stopped quite abruptly by realizing that I don't afford going deeper. Some verticality and platforming could have also been nice to make the maps more varied, but this would have required quite a bit of tweaking with the enemies. The game would have benefitted a lot from audio. UI for the game was really well done and the graphics were well done.

Deep Dreams by Diebanez 2021-04-28T15:20:02Z

Overall a Great game! The music and visuals were very impressive. The gameplay was a nice twist to the bullet hell formula, as after I realized that I don't have to shoot all the time like normally in bullet hell shooters, the movement felt quite tactical. The second last map was the hardest as most of the spawning projectiles felt a little random when appearing. Maybe the projectiles could have had some indicators from where they appear that could have made some deaths feel less cheap?

Crash Lander by AranCutter 2021-04-28T20:54:47Z

It's very easy to make a hard game. It's very difficult to make a hard and fair game. It's almost impossible to make a hard and fair game in 72 hours. After over an hour and over 300 deaths, I can safely say that this belongs to the last category. Thanks for making this!

Parentage by CandleBird 2021-04-28T15:36:16Z

Wow this game was really creepy. I kinda expected what was going to happen but it didn't help at all in the end :D The overall presentation was nice, but the game was pretty slow at start. I felt like the game could have had some small element in the beginning to make the beginning of the game a little more exiting as I first thought that the game was bugging out as there were nothing to see for like the first minute.

Abyss by Nomppie 2021-04-28T16:04:15Z

Charming little game which reminded me of Downwell and such. Music and graphics had an old-school vibe going for them and the pixel art was solid. The green enemies seemed a little too easy as the you could just wait in an upper platform and shoot them from there. Maybe player could have had a taller view of the map and some time constraint could have been added to the game? Overall nice work!

Barochamber by Ourten 2021-04-29T19:38:27Z

There is a fun idea in here with solid presentation, even if it is rough around the edges. The general gameplay concept seemed to be centered around trying to pick your battles properly and it would have desperately needed an additional mechanic to generate some depth (pun intended). The visuals were quite good and fit the general vibe of the game and the soundscape was also good. Good job for making the game!

Mining Robot by Doc_Moustache 2021-04-28T14:57:44Z

Very fun idea, and with little tweaking could become quite addicting. I liked the background music, but I would have wished that drilling a mineral would have had a larger visual/audio cue, as it took I while to realize how do you mine minerals. I also got stuck into the mine with mine minecart, as I didn't realize that there was a teleporter at the bottom of the mine.

Deep Cover by Madbarron 2021-04-28T17:06:40Z

Wow, this was an excellent game with very strong visuals and good sound design. I really liked the character design s of the game. The puzzles were quite simple after I got the general gist of the game, but the presentation was more than enough for a jam game.

Maze Of The Minotaur by PythooonUser 2021-04-28T19:06:56Z

This is a fun idea with very strong visuals! The maze puzzle was executed quite well, as it wasn't too hard, while still requiring actual thought at parts. The art style was phenomenal and I really liked the general colour palette of the game. The voice acting really brought character to the game. My only real complaint is that the background voice effects were a bit loud and occurred a little too often, making the soundscape at times a bit distracting. Good work on the project!

Catlantis by fabula_rasa 2021-04-28T16:49:49Z

Very solid game with a strong presentation! The graphics and animations for the terrain and the creatures were really good. The gameplay mechanics felt good, even if the game was quite easy. The final boss was the only difficulty spike in the game, but I the battle didn't really feel impactful as the boss just took so many hits. Also I think that the game could have ended after the battle, as rising back to the surface didn't really feel necessary. Great work!

Astral Descension by nyxkn 2021-04-29T12:09:59Z

I liked this a lot - simple gameplay and just enough story to keep you going forward. The graphic style and music fit together with the genre, and all in all this was a solid package! It was nice to have extra challenges on the way, though the game was a tad too easy in my opinion.

Some thoughts that rose:

- Having the starry background move a little, it could make memorizing the paths more challenging (maybe?). - I got confused by the borderless UI on the right and the pits, and thought some arrows just pointed you towards a fall. - The idea could be explored further by f.e. having the player return to the previous, or even older rooms.

Lost Child by andriirinah 2021-04-28T14:12:39Z

A fun little game! The art style for the terrain was very solid and the general design of the characters was good. Audio effects could have had more impact in them, but the main theme was catchy. Also good enemy variety.

Gold Mine & Debt Relief by yellowsalamander 2021-04-28T18:52:58Z

Great execution of a simple concept! The art style is simple yet very effective and the lighting enhances the general atmosphere of the game. The sound department was a little barebones, as a small music or ambience track behind the game would have greatly increased the tension of the game. Gameplaywise I have no complaints: the general gameplay loop is quite satisfying. Overall good job!

Depth of Death by KenForest 2021-04-28T15:10:41Z

Very moody and cohesive game! The opponents were quite too tough and slow, and the shotgun felt useless. The long 180 second monster section was too long. The underwater section was very impressive and it made the starting slog worth the playthrough.

Drill Cave by Ryder Studios 2021-04-28T22:00:05Z

This game was great! The art style was very cohesive and the sound design very atmospheric. The platforming was fun, even if some jump drill parts were not that consistent. The amount of levels in the game was respectable and they were designed well. My only complaint is that many levels seemed to have "gotcha" moments, where you just had to guess where to jump, and if you guessed wrong, you had to start again from the beginning. Overall very good job!

Operation Gridius by flaxhass 2021-04-28T14:44:23Z

Overall a fun game! General aesthetic of the game was quite fun and reminded me of old children books. I especially liked the main character idle animation. The songs was a bit gloomy compared to the rest of the game and the squid sound seemed like a bug, as it was way too loud and seemed to play the same sound every frame of the program. The gameplay was simple but quite intuitive. I managed to find all the bombs during my first game, but I feel like it could have been very easy to miss one of them. Good job!

50 Step Treasure Hunt by Not_AS_Artistic 2021-04-28T15:56:09Z

The general gameplay loop of the game was really good, even if the word puzzles were a little out of place. I would have liked to have a button to reset the whole game, as sometimes I forgot the clue and needed to got back to read it and then walk around to reset the game. Art style was very cute and the Baba is you inspiration was clear. Good work!

DEPTHS OF THE INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX by pierogo 2021-04-28T16:32:51Z

Very ahmospherical and surprisingly fun game (I was first expecting a walking simulator :D). The platforming was solid and actually required thinking at some points as the dash mechanic was very strong. The sounds seemed to be very quiet, I don't know whether this had something to do with my computer or what. The amount of 3D enviroments was very impressive and I liked the general aesthetic of the factory. The textures of the walls made navigation at some points a quite hard, and for small while I was stuck at the door by the bridge as I couldn't see the opening in the wall. Good work overall!

LD49 — Unstable

Variable Volatility by Kimbsy 2021-10-05T16:46:34Z

I really liked this game! The gameplay was very tricky as the button layout is made for some other species, but that adds to the charm in some way. The general presentation is great! I really liked the graphics and the music, and the "tutorial" baked into the game was really good. The game became quite hard quite quickly as I instantly forgot what the button for lowering the pH value was, but other than that the game was very enjoyable.

Unstable "AI" by uboretsky 2021-10-05T16:33:19Z

Surprisingly addictive, it seems that we are really hardwired for numbers going up :D I found the visuals quite charming and the facial expressions of the AI very expressive. At some point you get into the zone with clicking the correct buttons with a right strategy, after which the game became quite easy. Maybe the game could get harder with time with more difficult facial expressions? Other than that it was a fun game, good work!

Chihuahua Revenge by Grigri Games 2021-10-05T15:23:33Z

This was a very fun one! While the general gameplay was a quite simple, there was enough to do keep me entertained for quite a while. The difficulty curve between the enemies was a little steep: the demons with projectiles were the end of me for quite many rounds. The graphics for this game were very good and the intro sequence was great. The background was probably my favourite part of the game, but the audio mixing could have been better. The song was very loud compared to rest of the sounds. Great work!

[ERROR 404] by Feesh 2021-10-05T17:01:15Z

A very simple, but very fun game. While the movement was a bit clunky, I really liked that both of the levels seemed more like puzzles instead of just plain reaction tests. Especially the last section of the second map was quite fun to "solve". The presentation was quite fitting for the game, while I would have appreciated some sounds for the game. Thank you for making this!

Super Mutant Horse by cannashblue 2021-10-05T17:30:42Z

The horse was definitely unstable to control, but other than that the general movement and combat were quite solid, other than couple of times when the rope refused to go where I wanted it to go. The graphics were great, but the framerate seemed a bit unstable(heh), though this could be just my laptop. The music was quite endearing and the game itself was quite well put together as a whole. Good job!

Tetrominal Space by Locke8 2021-10-05T15:06:08Z

Quite a fun game, but after couple of attempts controlling the spaceship around the sun became quite easy, which lead it to be a little repetitive. I really liked controlling the spaceship, which seemed to be the main mechanic in this game. Maybe some gatherable objectives could have been an interesting addition? The art style had a old flash game charm in it which I liked, but the space ship itself was a little weird. The game could have benefitted a lot from very simple audio, but this can be of course a lot asked from game jam games. The thrusters could have been a little larger as it was sometimes quite hard to click them while the spaceship was rotating like crazy. I got to score 4000, hopefully that ain't too bad!

A Year of Rest by Binary Systems 2021-10-05T16:06:59Z

While the game was quite buggy with AI pathfinding and occasional dropping from a wall into another dimension, the game was quite ambitious in scope. While I haven't heard of the source material, the central theme became quite apparent. The gameplay loop definitely does message the general idea clearly. I managed to get through September but then the characters cigarettes ran out and store also didn't want to sell them as they were out, so I'm not sure if I locked myself out of the rest of the game. I liked the visuals of the game, but the game definitely would have benefitted from some audio. A very interesting concept indeed, great work!

A Spelling Error by Naymsayk 2021-10-05T17:18:19Z

This was a fun puzzle game. I think the gameplay foundations for the game were very solid, but the levels felt like an introduction to the concept, instead of the full game. The voice acting was great, and the graphics were solid. Very fun concept!

Server Hell by ChristianB 2021-10-05T15:44:19Z

I quite liked this! The art style for the game was very unique and brought an interesting atmosphere to the game. The gameplay was quite simplistic, but it didn't really bother me. The only task that was quite annoying was the fires as could not find the fire extinguisher anywhere. The soundscape was good, but I some minimalistic and atmospheric music could really have benefitted this game. Great job!

Vive la révolution by felixwentzel 2021-10-05T16:22:01Z

Quite fun idea for a game! Controlling the crowd was quite difficult and at some point I lost the ability to select units, but I still managed to beat the game. Combat between units was a little weird, as throwing molotovs seemed to be the best strategy for attacking opponents, but there were enough things to do to keep me entertained. The graphics for the game were simple and effective and the music was very fun. Good work with the game!

BALANCE-PARKOUR by Arken 2021-10-05T17:08:01Z

I really liked it! The music and the very, very psychedelic graphics really put me into the zone with this quite hard platformer. The whole thing was a very well put together. My only complaint is that the movement with the character seemed really stiff and it was quite difficult to determine what was the effect of the weights to the movement of the character. At first I thought that the effect was only visual until the jump with both weights. But these are quite minor problems, really good work!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate by benjamin 2022-04-19T14:03:55Z

It's impossible to say something about this that hasn't already been said. Easily one of my favorite submissions of this jam. The aesthetics are phenomenal, the core gameplay is clever, and the setting is interesting. The quality across the board is incredibly high for a jam project. Playing this was a blast.

The Apocawiz by shadow64 2022-04-10T17:36:21Z

A fun game! It looks delightful and plays pretty well. Indeed, mashing the shoot key gets tiresome quite fast, but I'd like to commend you for taking all the feedback into account and treating it as a learning experience!

It's Not Me It's You by John Livingston 2022-04-19T13:46:45Z

A fun premise with hilarious presentation. Everything from the (literal) menus to the control schemes was fun to explore. A well-made, chaotic, and thoroughly entertaining submission that doesn't outstay its welcome.

Akashica by Skruffye 2022-04-19T14:39:19Z

Thoroughly thrilled to see well-written interactive fiction among the submissions. This was without a doubt one of this jam's highlights for me, and not just because I'm a sucker for the subject matter. The theme is such a core part of the game, and the tone does wonders to support it as well. I'll certainly be experiencing it again to see how much the game does with its procedural nature -- for now, however, I'll extend kudos for its incredible quality.

Post Solis by Nikolay Zapolnov 2022-04-19T13:28:58Z

An astoundingly complex and polished game for a jam project. It looks great, has real depth to its mechanics, and plays like the biggest hitters in the same league. The UI is phenomenal, as it's very clean and helps digest the vast amounts of information and resources you need to use. A neat concept developed and honed beyond what I thought was possible for a jam game.

Dont Wake Up! by Bloham 2022-04-19T13:23:10Z

The environment and sound design really stood out in this one. The gameplay was quite dull, however -- it could have used a few twists to keep it fresh, as waking up felt like being released. The theme is represented well, though!

Perseverance by ql28 2022-04-19T20:09:18Z

It looks and sounds fabulous -- you really got the mood right! It gets the theme across quite well, too. The writing is nice and really helps establish the atmosphere you're going for, but sometimes there's not enough time for the amount of text on screen at once before it fades out automatically. Some prompts were also simply unattainable for yours truly (thanks, bad hands!). All in all, it's a coherent, enjoyable submission with a nice message as well.

Grapecheese by jandourek 2022-04-19T14:14:34Z

Visually it's one of my favorites from this jam. There are some clunky elements that together make it a bit difficult to really enjoy, though: abrupt transitions, awkward sound implementation, no ability to turn off text scrolling, and esc just flat-out closing the game among others. It's a solid submission with a hefty amount of content, however! Nice work.

Reapers & Retirees by Carraka 2022-04-19T13:57:58Z

An amazing concept -- the theme is really front-and-center! The genre is also a great fit for the theme and enhances it mechanically (it's why we went with tower defense for our submission as well, heh)! The gameplay is kept fresh by having to juggle the different characters, resources, and mechanics. The individual characters are a treat to control and watch; not only are their designs wonderfully quirky, but their personalities come through in their dialogue very well.

Overall, congratulations on a great submission.

The Lars Mission by Honest Dan 2022-04-20T14:25:21Z

Incredibly smooth both aesthetically and mechanically for a jam submission! The tasks are mostly fun and engaging, and the theme is represented quite well.

Procrabstination by sebastianscaini 2022-04-20T14:45:01Z

A laugh-out-loud experience that looks excellent and really gets the theme right. There's a lot of stuff to do for a jam game, too! My only gripe is that it contains a lot of mashing, which isn't exactly accessible (something to keep in mind for your next jam), but overall a fun game. Well done!

Holding On by Cubanfrog 2022-04-05T11:16:12Z

@tano Thanks for playing our game and for the bug report! I fixed the resolution scaling (Godot display settings can be confusing at times) to a post launch version, so this should hopefully not bother anyone anymore.

@pandore Thanks for your kind words!

Holding On by Cubanfrog 2022-04-10T17:18:57Z

@daniel-username Thanks for your comment! We actually have an HTML version linked on the itch.io page -- for some reason, our Ludum Dare page isn't updating with the link. Lo-Fi Girl was indeed one of our inspirations!

Edit: The page seems to have updated with the link now!

Beyond The Veil by Hare Software 2022-04-19T14:51:50Z

Incredible work. The first thing that caught my eye was the game's look, but the writing and voice acting take it even further. The overall quality is astounding. Mechanically it's deep enough to keep things interesting for the game's duration. Really solid for a jam game!

Runic Moon by pke1029 2022-04-10T16:38:41Z

Simple and elegant; very aesthetically pleasing, too. The gameplay loop could use a few twists to keep it fresh for longer, but overall a neat game!

Pizza Gal by No Grapes Games 2022-04-07T22:30:00Z

The character design is great, and the icon on the bottom right really takes advantage of it; the turning animation is a wonderful little detail too. The sound design is nice as well and the premise is fun. The only thing I'd wish for is a smoother level transition -- even just a fade -- as it's a little jarring as is. Overall a really solid submission!

Hymenoptera King by Skleembof 2022-04-07T22:24:02Z

Wonderful presentation. Playing it was genuinely fun, although getting the hang of it took a while. The theme comes through quite well. It's missing small touches like clearer instructions and perhaps sound effects to make things feel really tactile, but it was a pleasant experience regardless.

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-19T20:18:26Z

What an adorable game. It's gorgeous to look at and listen to (especially love the little "ouch")! The mechanics are interesting and the theme is represented very strongly. I would definitely play more of this -- wonderful work!

Mythical Mediator by Jahwffrey 2022-04-07T17:13:21Z

The game has a great sense of humor. The wardrobe is hilarious and the takes have just the right amount of jank. Some voice lines are hard to make out clearly due to sound quality, though. Points for the video tutorial that simultaneously introduced the mechanics and feel of the game.

The theme is represented very well and the resource balancing is engaging. Unfortunately, the UI doesn't seem to scale too well with larger screens, so I had to squint a little to make some elements out.

Great work overall -- you clearly made the most out of the limited resources!

Fly and Dive by SeabirdDigital 2022-04-10T16:58:50Z

A simple idea with great execution. It handles well and it's quite fun (although my depth perception fails me even with the shadows).

Campfire by Shadowcast 2022-04-10T22:57:06Z

A wonderful short experience. It's well-written and looks great; the jam theme is a core part of the game's make-up. The campfire is an amazing way to pace the dialogue and separate topics, not to mention functioning as an effective metaphor, even if not particularly subtle (it doesn't always have to be!). Definitely one of the games I'll have the fondest memories of from this jam -- great work for a game with such a tight schedule!

Hearts Ablaze by Jon Topielski 2022-04-07T17:21:16Z

A very polished game for a jam project! The theme is represented tremendously well, and would've been right at home with the "one resource" theme as well.

The aesthetics are fun and coherent, the gameplay is fast enough to encourage multiple attempts, and the upgrades are interesting. Amazing work.

Good Boy eats the treat. by RobbzenOne 2022-04-20T20:33:36Z

Unbearably adorable -- fantastic work on the aesthetics! The scale is perfect for a jam game and the theme is represented perfectly; the good boy MUST get the treat, after all. A very coherent whole that was a delight to play.

FWOG by Corrupt Spaghetti 2022-04-20T20:28:49Z

A clever twist on the original (in both title and gameplay) with plenty of character. The distance being measured in centimeters adds so much to the hilarity -- and futility -- of the experience. Nice work!

Wizardfall by Quite Good 2022-04-06T23:48:21Z

A lovely game! The premise is exciting, the visuals are good and all of the dialogue options were laugh-out-loud amusing while also hinting at a deeper history between the characters and the world. Bonus points for replay value via alternate endings.

My only complaints are that there's a chance for repeated dialogue, which is a relatively small issue, and that the HTML version kept eating my inputs occasionally, which was somewhat frustrating.

Wonderful work overall!

WHEN NANA SAYS IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL by alyd asmar 2022-04-19T13:38:22Z

I absolutely loved this. An incredible concept and executed very well. It had my attention from start to finish and was a delight to play. One of the most unique jam projects I've had the pleasure of experiencing, and one that left me craving for more of this kind of stuff in general. Really well done for a jam game -- it really shows how creativity can go a long way!

Divine Rain by Jackaljk 2022-04-20T14:36:50Z

A fun concept that does quite a lot with quite a little -- it's simple but effective, which is the sign of a successful jam. Disliked the mashing mechanic though, having slight accessibility problems -- something to consider for your next project!

RIG WRECKENING by WhyNot 2022-04-07T22:12:10Z

I'm a sucker for this kind of look, and the sound design only makes it better. The controls might need a bit of fine-tuning. The theme is represented nicely, though, and overall the game was a treat.

What Have You Drawn? by MrPouletBZH 2022-04-07T21:01:07Z

The mood is very unique, kudos! It handles quite well, too, which is vital for a game like this. The game takes a while to get going, though; feels like there's more downtime than necessary.

Oh, there's also a little typo in the version I played: when unlocking the speed boost upgrade, the game says it's A on the keyboard, while in reality it's the Q key.

Overall, though, a very memorable experience! Well done.

FEEDING_LOG_01172013 by coyotethursday 2022-04-21T03:37:12Z

A terrifying concept executed phenomenally well. I really enjoyed it -- fits the theme perfectly and certainly stands out with its mood. I'm a sucker for analog horror and similar stuff, so it's right up my alley as well! The technical implementation of the sounds blew my mind; amazingly done for a jam project.

Doctor Dilly-Dally by Sine Nomine 2022-04-19T14:20:03Z

The line deliveries, dedicated cough and mumble keys, and general look made this a standout in my eyes. The theme comes across really well and in a manner I haven't really seen from other games this jam. As others have noted out, some feedback of when you're doing something right would've been nice, but ultimately I thought it added to the awkward atmosphere. The submission's sense of humor combined with its fun premise made me very happy I didn't miss this one!

IBYH!? by Trabasura 2022-04-20T14:55:15Z

Love the look and sound of the game! The theme is highlighted excellently by both the narrative and genre. One of my favorites all jam. There could have been more variety to the microgames, but they were still a blast. Wonderfully done!

The March to heaven by damakuno 2022-04-07T21:15:29Z

Profoundly touching. The theme is front and center, and the polish is astounding for a jam game. A bittersweet, very memorable experience, and not only by jam game standards. Congratulations on a job well done!

Gods of Discord by Ghatazorg 2022-04-07T21:52:17Z

The premise is fun, as are many pieces of art and writing! Sometimes it's not very clear what you're actually being asked, though, and the gameplay could use a refreshing twist. I also ran into a bug with the game automatically choosing for me in a couple of cases (a choice was made as soon as the text and portrait came up).

The length of the game is perfect for an homage, though.

Under Performer by Allax 2022-04-07T21:09:16Z

The sense of urgency is relayed very well! The art direction is also very fitting.

My gripes with the game are mostly with the controls; while getting stuck to the plethora of office furniture adds to the (likely intended) chaos, it's quite frustrating in the long run, as is the mashing minigame at the printer. Another possible improvement would be clearing up the instructions a bit.

Nightwaker by Bottled up Dark Peace 2022-04-19T20:25:21Z

A solid idea presented very well. Really nails the mood. Bonus points for the custom keybinding option!

That Toilet... Feels so good. by Julyyyy 2022-04-07T17:40:37Z

The audio and graphics work together beautifully, and create a fun, cozy atmosphere while contrasting the dull reality. The writing ranges from nostalgic to hilarious to serious, really fleshing out Zoe's inner world (which I think many of us can relate to)! The premise is fun and the stats at the end help in that "just one more attempt" feeling. The subject matter of daydreaming serves the theme well. Good work.

Tamaghost Jump! by Kaiyaki 2022-04-10T16:58:15Z

Astoundingly cute in its look and feel, but gets the spooky vibes right as well! Thoroughly polished aesthetically and the theme is represented quite well. Gameplay-wise, the jump arc is a bit hard to get used to and even some early jumps are perhaps unnecessarily tricky, but I enjoyed it a lot overall -- will recommend.

The game looks fantastic. The topic is both extremely fitting and relevant.

I agree with the rest that a restart option would improve the experience noticeably. Nice work overall, though!

An astonishingly deep game for a jam project. The mechanics have real complexity, the theme is strongly present, and it looks and sounds good to boot! It takes a bit to get acquainted with all the different parts, but it's very replayable and quite rewarding. The only thing I feel it's missing is a clearer, more polished UI -- outside that, this is one of my favorite submissions so far.

A clever game, excellent work for a first-time entry! It looks and sounds good, the writing is solid, and it keeps the attention with its puzzles. My only gripe is the lack of a "view map" option, but otherwise a commendable submission!

The Gallows by Burn Tree 2022-04-19T15:09:25Z

A touching and poignant game with phenomenal presentation. The writing is effective; the graphics and sound design are perfect for the theme and topics. My only issues were the slightly awkward movement and a glitch where the scene change wouldn't apparently trigger properly -- the "press any key" prompt kept throwing errors and took a bit of fiddling. Altogether a very coherent, well-made, and memorable submission that's got the theme and mood completely down!

Aesthetically a bit messy (although some of it is certainly intentional) and structurally a bit confusing, but overall a unique game that's well executed for an RPGMaker project. You nailed the mood category for sure.
