Neat idea and great character illustrations. I like how the character also turns left/right depending on where you go on the map.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD50 → Pizza Gal

Cool game i like this character
Really like your interpretation of the theme, and not resorting to an endless survival game. The art and cut scene is beautifully drawn and the instructions are very clear. I am very impressed by the amount of assets you have made in such a short time, you even have an ending card! A minor feedback is to lean on your art strength by having icons of the character on the GPS instead of the triangle or a little more polish/design to the UI of the GPS. I really enjoyed playing it! (My final score is 2750, not sure how it fare)
a fun and relatable game with so much attention to detail, it felt really polished! i like how it subverted the idea of efficiency as well :)
Surprisingly polished and really simple with a ton of depth!
Excellent training! Cool gameplay. I didn't notice that 15 minutes had passed, amazing!
Really cool game, i love the visuals and the fact of the charcater turn left or right depending on where i turn
Really love the character design and animations. The gameplay is fairly simple but fun and has some depth to it.
A lot of fun trying to maximize your route. Good, solid, simple mechanic to base a LD game around. The character animations were great and everything looked good and polished. Cool game!
Well done! I love the illustrations of the pizza gal. I had fun playing :)
Adorable - excellent take on the theme, and fun to play!
Very nice and polished graphics. Simple gameplay, but fun!
It's a very good game with a creative take on the theme, I definitely wasn't expecting to be solving mazes as inefficiently as possible! The only thing that confused me a little bit was when the targets where placed in corners I wasn't really sure where exactly did I need to be. But despite that the gameplay still felt very solid!
Love the cute character design, and really creative take on the theme!
I really enjoyed playing this game, it is perfect, fully finished 5 levels, art, music, even dialogues are going at a sufficient speed
Very funny narrative introduction that supplies a clever motivation for the puzzle!
Had a lot of fun with it - thank you!
Ha, I love the plot of the game. The character design is super cute, and I absolutely adore the art style. It's also pretty great how the character turns the bike in the HUD while you turn on the map. The levels were really well made, and I enjoyed the challenge of the later levels. Great work all around!
The character design is great, and the icon on the bottom right really takes advantage of it; the turning animation is a wonderful little detail too. The sound design is nice as well and the premise is fun. The only thing I'd wish for is a smoother level transition -- even just a fade -- as it's a little jarring as is. Overall a really solid submission!
Great game. all the art is really great and makes everything that much more fun, an impressive amount of original assets. Interesting take on the theme, I liked that the inevitability was completing the tasks for the level. Solid game all around.
This is the best use of theme I've seen in ld50. The graphics are very good and the amount of time spent on polish shows.
I like it ! The concept is simple but addicting. I love the character/art and the interface of the game. You made a great job on it ! pizza01.jpg
LOL the lethargic Speed Racer pose. Absolutely brilliant.
This is easily my favorite concept I've seen this jam. There is an unbelievable amount of innovation here: - An "unoptimal" routing game where you maximize roads and time rather than taking the shortest path to victory - Randomized cities(!) I can't believe you had the time to implement one that created such clean looking cities. Any insight on the algorithms you used? I'd love to try something like this for city generation some day. - A great story and character personality that ties into the gameplay perfectly
Back in the day I would just work in fast food kitchens rather than the cashier so I wouldn't have to deal with anyone. The character was too easy to relate to...
I maxed out my score on the first 3 stages but then got lazy later on. I'm glad you put a cap on it at 200 so that players didn't *have* to completely paint the town red. But at the same time, this core gameplay of quickly analyzing the longest distance route was so unusual and engaging. Never had to flex those brain cells before.
All the little touches on the MC driving and looking around sold the setting of her driving in total boredom. This game is a gem.
This was definitely a cute entry! The amount of creativity into the theme and have a coherent story around it is pretty good. The comics and art was really nice and very well done, and the whole game feels polished and complete. The music was nice but repetitive a little.
Good job!
@peachtreeoath Our map is made of interlocked polyominos -- "minos" for short. A mino is a group of 2D blocks connected by grid edges. (The classic Tetris pieces are 4-block minos, often called "tetra-minos".)
Generate minos: Start with a 1x1 mino and randomly "grow" it outwards by adding blocks adjacent to previously added blocks. When added, each block merges to a random eligible adjacent mino and enlarges it. If all neighboring minos are already at max size, the new block doesn't merge and starts a new mino instead. Keep adding blocks until the level's fully filled.
Cleanup most tiny minos: Increase the max mino size. Iterate over tiny minos (<= 2 blocks) and merge them into a random adjacent neighbor mino. ("Most" because a tiny mino isn't merged if every neighbor mino would exceed the new max size if merged.)
Greedy mino coloring: Iterate the minos in random order and color each mino with the first color not taken by adjacent minos that have already been colored. (The "colors" here are abstract color numbers represented by a small integer.)
Trace mino edges: Expand each mino block to 2x2 tiles. Trace mino edges with road tiles. Assign grass / water / building A / building B to interior tiles by taking color % 4. Adjacent minos almost always have different choice of grass / water / building A / building B.
Autotile: Use Godot's autotile feature to automatically figure out which tile art to use. Godot autotile decides when to use the horizontal / vertical / specific intersection art for a road tile, or when to use corners for water / grass tiles.
@stalemeat wow, thanks for the detailed writeup! It definitely makes a lot more sense after that breakdown, especially since the last few steps obscures it well.
Is that a Speed Racer Reference I see?? <3
I like the concept of the game, you can take any route with some limitations. My score was 2165 :D
Captivating game! The concept is simple but not so easy. Is there an optimal strategy that you would recommand? Nice graphics and music too. The only minor problem I would mention is the fact that UI is not very accessible to the eye, as you always have to focus on the moving arrow. Then, when I finished the game, I saw my final score and couldn't relate it to what was done before, nor evaluating if it was a good score. Maybe adding a grade could be beneficial?
Yo the pizza girl is mad cute, the artwork is just great in general. The concept is interesting too, I feel like it would have been more engaging if it started out a bit faster.
Absolutely love the character design and the artwork of her was really good. The gameplay was solid and I couldn't see any faults or issues. I would have liked more levels but I guess that's just a testimony of how much I liked the game. Perhaps should you add more difficult levels, perhaps the manager could be walking down the street and makes a specific street unusable as he walks down it or something along those lines. I wonder if you could add a way to input a high score system so the game can track players high scores and compete against others?
This game is full of some old nes/sega games spirit, so nostalgic. Artist made good work with a character, a lot of work. Well made, I like it! Thank you for the game!

Wow, I loved the anime art style. The gameplay is pretty simple, but also fun. And the music and sounds are very well applied. Congratulations for the entry, this game is very nice
I like the simple game mechanics! Very fun! And I love that the character looks annoyed when she have do the delivery alone. :D
VERY CUTE and fun game, I absolutely adore everything about this!
