Gee golly gosh, where to even begin. It goes without saying, but the art and animation is impeccable. Just by looking at this, I wouldn't have guessed that this is a game jam entry. I absolutely adore the artstyle. The music is awesome as well (SIX tracks on that level of quality is insane).
The gameplay itself could use a bit of polish, the character is too slippery for the size of the platform and it ends up being a bit frustrating to play (I didn't have the patience to finish a single stage). But good god is it pleasing to the eyes (and ears). I don't even care that the gameplay is a bit finnicky, this seriously impressed me.
This rocks. Took me back to the old quirky flash games I just to play as a kid. Really unique and funny concept, and the graphics are spot on.
What a clever idea, and it's executed really well. Presentation is really, really good. Greatly enjoyed this!
Cool concept, and charming graphics. It was fun and interesting. The music was a bit dull initially, but picked up during the boss fight.
Yo, this game was DOPE. I love this kind of stuff. If it was just a little longer I would have been willing to pay for it on Steam. It looks absolutely beautiful, the environments are really cool and the music is great as well. No complaints, so far this is the best game I've played in this jam (or in any game jam tbh).
Such a charming artstyle. Not the most original in terms of concept, but cute, fun and well-executed. The music is really well made.
Cool game, I love the design of the main character (also, that thumbnail is perfect). It could have done a better job at guiding the player towards the objective, overall it was a bit confusing to play (there should be a map, or at least put all the signs in the same place). And the sound effects were a bit loud and became annoying very quickly. But overall the game looks really good and controls well. Great concept, just needs a bit of polish game design-wise.
Thank you all so much for the kind comments and constructive feedback!
I knew the Stacy stuff was going to be divisive, haha... That scene was supposed to be completely ridiculous, shameless and on-the-nose, with no subtlety whatsoever. We had a really fun time writing that part, but of course it saddens me that it made it difficult for some people to enjoy the game. Ultimately, me and @liquidfunk write dialogue with ourselves as the audience, with the sole purpose of making the other person laugh. Often (and almost as a rule) the end result is stupid and immature. But that's how we like it... Thank you for sticking through with the game despite the parts that were difficult to get through!
What a brilliant concept, super fun to play. It doesn't quite have the polish it deserves (obviously, since it's a game jam entry) so you should really consider making this a full game! I think I would have preferred if the platforms were bigger and if you stayed in the air longer. Regardless, it's a blast.
As for the presentation: Art was good (especially the hands, really clean animation), but the music was a bit dull (a nice boppin' track would have elevated the experience even further).
What a fun game! The concept just works, and is well executed here. Not a fan of the controls though, I would have preferred to have the switching buttons on a separate part of the keyboard (so i could tilt and switch with different hands).
Cute game! I like the GB-style graphics, and the gameplay is fun. The music could be better and maybe a bit more varied. Other than that, good job!
I'm a big fan of the artstyle, kinda wish there were more games that looked like this. Unfortunately, I thought it was a bit frustrating to play. I understand that the point is to make the character difficult to control as a consequence of the hangover, but that "mechanic" does not translate into a very fun gameplay experience.
Still, stellar presentation. If the gameplay is tweaked a bit then this has the potential to be a really great game.
I liked the dialogue and atmosphere. Cool ambient music. Didn't particularly care for the gameplay, and the story felt a bit anticlimactic. Art was very charming.
This was a cool one. I really like the presentation, and the gameplay is engaging and fun. I wish the game had some music, but I guess the silence adds to the atmosphere. Good job!
Cool! I love stuff like this. Very immersive, surreal experience. I just wish there was more variety, especially since the assets were so minimalistic and simple. Either way, it was an interesting and unique game. Good job!
Very fun game! It reminded me of the flying levels in Cuphead.
Jeez, this looks really good. Not just "game jam" good, but just good, period. I'm a sucker for rhythm games so the gameplay loop really appealed to me as well. Maybe I just have no rhythm though, but I felt like the timing window of the key presses was too narrow. Maybe that part could be tweaked a bit to not be as strict.
Btw, that song is brilliant.
Man, people are getting really good at 3D art. Amazing presentation, this genuinely looks like a studio made 3DS game or something. And the gameplaye genuinely had me hooked for a bit. Cute music too, overall I enjoyed this quite a lot!
Cool game, I liked the character designs and spritework. The gameplay is quite fun and engaging, even though it isn't something you haven't seen before.
This was a cute and charming game, I really enjoyed it. The writing was good, it felt oddly realistic somehow. The art is really pretty too. The only complaint I have (which is a large one) is that it's way too minimalistic. I would really like to see you make something bigger and more ambitious, since there is clearly a lot of talent at display here that I feel isn't being fully utilized.
Amazing game, my favorite gam so far this jam. The gameplay loop is well thought out and engaging, the graphics are fantastic and the music is extremely pleasant to listen to. Overall it was a very comfy, soothing gameplay experience.
My only criticism is that the battle happened in a flash, and I lost all my progress instantly. It didn't seem like I even had time to do anything.
Btw, thanks for playing our game on your stream, I really enjoyed your voice acting! :D
I absolutely adored the artstyle in this. The Undertale-style gameplay gets a bit repetitive after a while, would have liked to see some more variety in the attack patterns.
I love the character designs and animation in this. The gameplay is quite fun as well. However the music doesn't really fit the atmosphere in my opinion. Overall, solid game! Good job on this one.
Yo the pizza girl is mad cute, the artwork is just great in general. The concept is interesting too, I feel like it would have been more engaging if it started out a bit faster.
This was seriously fun! Engaging, enjoyable gameplay and nice art. Good work!
This is such a cool game. The presentation is awesome, I really dig the low poly aesthetic. Music fit the mood but was a bit repetitive.
Taking a hold of a hornet and flying around the stage made for a genuinely fun experience.
Jeez louise, this is on an insane level of quality for a game jam. Mind-bogglingly good graphics, awesome artstyle, fun and engaging gameplay and sick music. I really have no complaints, I wish you make a full game in the future.
Not gonna lie this really made me smile. Art and presentation was really good (although the artstyle looks a bit.. inspired ;) ). Super cute character designs and effective animations. The gameplay concept is very fun and simple, it was genuinely fun to play!
@otterfaelure Heh, it's funny that you say that. I'm in the same camp, I can't stand the stuff 😂. Actually, Fronk started (in Milburt) as an extreme parody of the stereotypical office worker who is overly obsessed with coffee and talking about coffee (I'm just the same with tea btw so no shade against coffee lovers 😂). He turned out to be popular and people said they could relate to him so we wanted to try giving him his own story!
I was actually struggling a bit when writing him because I don't know the first thing about coffee and don't have many coffe-related terms in my vocabulary. Luckily, @liquidfunk who actually drinks coffee came in and saved me by writing all of the funny coffee dialogue in the last boss battle.
Fantastic presentation, the graphics are absolutely stellar. I like how you went for the artstyle of modern Paper Mario games while combining it with a grittier more comical take on the character designs.
Maybe it's just me, but gameplay is a bit confusing and I wish that it was a bit clearer how to play the game. I'm not a huge fan of lengthy tutorials at the beginning of the game, I'd much rather the game show me that stuff via gameplay. But obviously that's harder to do when you're constrained for time in a game jam. Really innovative and interesting concept, however.
Nice game! The graphics are obviously really well done (that title screen is mind-bogglingly pretty). The gameplay feels a bit unfocused, and gets repetitive after a while. Still, I like the concept of a point and click game where you are being chased, it could just benefit from a bit more polish with regards to the gameplay.
Man, I really dig low poly artstyles like these. The presentation is fantastic. The character feels good to control, although the camera can be a bit janky and the level design and objective isn't the most intuitive. But these things are just a matter of polish which you don't get to do a lot of during a jam. This is a really high quality entry overall.
I loved this! One of my favorite entries this jam. The characters are charming both in terms of design and writing, and the gameplay was engaging and interesting (the overworld exploration reminded me a bit of Yume Nikki). The orb sections were challenging, but not unfair. The music really set the mood, the game has this melancholy vibe which contrast really well with the cute characters. Overall, great unique entry. Please keep making games!
Definitely agree with @shumarie btw. Your world feels organic and lived in, the characters feel alive and distinct. When you throw in easy 4th wall breaking/cheeky self-referential jokes like that just for the sake of it throws all of that immersion out the window. You're in good company tho because I see that kind of stuff a lot on here. 😅 It's a writing crutch I don't think you need to rely on however since you clearly seem to know how to write charming dialogue.
Really nice and cute art, I especially like the design of the main character.
Presentation is very good, however I feel that the game could be more clear on how you're supposed to play it. Is the player supposed to memorize the stuff in the tutorial, or am I missing something? Because in that case I feel like it would make for a more intuitive experience to show that information via gameplay (maybe by cut and pasting the pictograms in the tutorial screen into the game, e.g. as posters on the wall so you can always see them).
Also the music is cool and well made, but doesn't really fit the mood and aesthetic of the game.
Overall though, a really well made and well put together game, and a fun but simple concept. I just wish it was a bit more intuitive to play.
Really well put together game. The gameplay is fun and the level design is solid. Dialogue... is not great. It's too long, self-referential and relies too much on breaking the 4th wall. The humor does not feel very organic.
The rest of the game is great though, the DDR minigame was such a cool surprise. The art and music are good as well. Good job!
This looks great, really love the aesthetic. The Crash Bandicoot style 2D platforming is fun, not a lot of variety but that's expected for a jam like this. Good job!
Cute game, I enjoyed the artstyle and the cozy gameplay. The sound design is a bit jarring; the loud sounds take you out of an otherwise comfy experience.
I love your art and character designs. This was a cute take on the homerun contest type genre of games, but nothing you really haven't seen before. Still, the gameplay is fun and the art and characters are enough to keep my interest.
Fun little game with cute graphics! I wish you could detonate the bomb directly instead of waiting for it to detonate, so you don't have to wait every time. And the sound effects were nice, but a tad bit loud. Other than that, solid entry. Good job!!
Game is cute, but became redundant pretty quickly. It's a neat little idea for a jam though. I like the meowing sound effect. :D Good job!
This is insane. It looks and play fantastic, the gameplay is genuinely fun and the escalation of difficulty is wery well thought out. It almost feels like a Souls game in terms of the combat and the challenge it presents.
I have one point of criticism: the sound design is pretty grating, collecting skulls hurts my ears :D And it's a shame that a game of this caliber doesn't have any music. Using a royalty free track would have enhanced this game even more. The only thing a "post jam version" needs is a kick ass track and better sound design.
Very nice. This was actually quite fun, and well made overall. The gameplay loop is engaging, and the music is well composed and fun (it reminds me of the soundtrack to The Neverhood), although I'm not quite sure if it fits the game.
Anyway, good job!
This has to be my favorite game so far. As a Paper Mario fan, you have no idea how happy this makes me.
The game, character design and animations are beautiful.
The battle system is actually really fun and engaging, I like the combination of turn-based + bullet hell + shmup + DDR. You're mixing and matching a lot of mechanics at once but it all works together really well.
The sound design is really good also. And I really liked the battle theme, it's well composed and catchy. I do think it would sound even more amazing if you got your hands on better sounding samples, even a decent soundfont would do.
I would encourage you to turn this into a full game, or at leash a post jam version.
I like the look of the game (the bird/kite thing is a legitimately cool design).
Controls are a bit unintuitive, unfortunately I didn't get very far. But when I got it to happen, jumping from the ramps felt very satisfying.
Hahah, this was quite the experience. Not sure if I found everything I could, but it was quite engaging.
This is a clever take on the theme. The dialogue is a bit long-winded, a lot of the lines could be condensed into something more concise. It also makes it easier to keep up with the flow of the game (especially since you're on a timer and don't have time to spend reading everything).
Also, swearing for the sake of swearing kind of brings down the dialogue for me. But maybe that's just me.
Graphics are really appealing.
This was cute, I very much like the designs and the concept. It was quite engaging to play as well.
Interesting concept, it's like Simon Says but a platformer.
Controls/camera were a bit finicky, and it's difficult enough to both find the sequence, find your way to the next letter without falling AND avoiding touching the wrong letter. If these things were addressed, it would probably be a quite enjoyable game.
Also I like the design of the character. Overall, good job!
Not bad at all for a first jam. The gameplay is quite fun and engaging, even if the controls and camera are a bit slippery, and the game is a somewhat unforgiving, at least in the beginning. Usually you want a game to be easier at the beginning, and gradually become more difficult (instead of the opposite) As a point of constructive criticism, I would suggest always keeping these things (controls/feel and progression) in mind whenever designing a game. I did enjoy it however, really good job. Really hope to see you making games in the future!
By the way, will we get a face reveal of the alien?
This was well done and interesting, although I did get stuck pretty early on.
I really like the idea of a turn-based RPG where you attack by solving puzzles. However, I feel like these were a bit too difficult to solve under just 10 seconds! Maybe it's just me though. Nice artwork.
This is excellent, super charming graphics, gameplay and music (although it felt a bit quiet in-game?). Exactly the kind of game that deserves a post-jam (or even full) version.
Really solid entry. Love the graphics and artstyle. Good job on the music as well.
This was absolutely insane. Controls, game design, music, story, everything was on point. The limited voice acting was a nice touch. I can't believe you made this during a weekend. Please turn this into a complete, commercial game.
Is there any fullscreen support? I can barely see anything! I like the artstyle a lot, the girl is really cute. Sound effects are a bit abrasive. The gameplay idea is novel and engaging, but takes some time getting used to.
Overall, great job.
Fantastic entry. Artwork is charming and competent, and the game plays flawlessly and feels great, especially for a rhythm game which I guess isn't the easiest type of game to implement. Music was good as well (although I feel like it didn't go hard enough). Overall, one of the better entries this jam. Great job!
This is really creative and well put together. My only criticism is that the 10 second limit feels kind of tacked on; it doesn't really serve any purpose other than rushing the player.
This is excellent, I legitimately had fun with this. Presentation is great (i.e. the "juiciness" of the animations work well and are nicely implemented). I wish to see more jam games that revolve around a single boss fight.
As a point of criticism, both the sound effects and the music is kind of loud and abrasive, it gets annoying after a while.
This was cool, I enjoyed the combination of minigames and narrative (even if some games took a couple of tries to figure out). Even though I like the script, I don't feel like it went far enough. Nothing in the dialogue or events really surprised me. The visuals are nice, they really set the mood.
Also, I suggest using royalty free music if you don't have access to a sound person. It does a lot to set the mood, which would have elevated a game such as this.
This was excellent, really creative, innovative idea. Graphics, sound design and gameplay is on point. The gameplay was genuinely tense and challenging. The dialogue was also good (although I wish there was more of it).I would really like to see more of this, please make more with this concept and character!
also the girl is pretty cute :0))))
I quite liked this. First off, the artstyle is wonderful. The gameplay is simple, but engaging enough to keep you on you toes. The lack of music is a minus. Understandably, maybe you didn't have time to write a song (or access to composers), but even using a royalte free track would have made a lot of difference in terms of mood.
Overall, really nice game. I hope you keep making them!
This was quite unique. Controls were a bit unintuitive, and weren't easy to find. I would have preferred if the game told you the controls instead of them being buried in the description.
I enjoyed the faces you've drawn... Would love to know more about these characters. And the music was quite good as well (if not a bit loud and abrasive). Good job!
This is really unique and well made. The gameplay got me a bit confused at first, it took me a while to understand it. If you make a post jam version (which you should, I think a game like this would be well received), you should definitely focus on a good tutorial.
Great job.
This is really bizarre and unique, I really like this concept. I would really enjoy a more polished version of this game. Good job, thinking outside of the box.
Love the artstyle and the designs, they're really cool. Didn't get too far unfortunately, the gameplay wasn't super intuitive and restarting became too much of a chore after a while. Also, the lack of music brings down the mood a bit (a tip is to use a royalty free track if you don't have access to a composer). Great job however, this is a really cool game if not a bit unpolished.
Interesting game, it's strangely atmospheric. Would have liked a clearer description of the objective.
Game jam games don't get much better than this. It goes without saying, but the artwork is fantastic and extremely charming (it reminds me a bit of the game Later Alligator). I sincerely hope you turn this into a full game, where you expand on the mechanics.
This game looks, sounds and play amazing. Don't really have any complaints. I like the gimmick of the changing seasons, very nice take on the theme.
This looks and plays really well. Granted, the game gets repetitive pretty quickly, but it's super polished for a game jam game. Really solid entry.
I like the artwork a lot. The 10 second countdown, as it is implemented here, doesn't lend itself well to this genre of game, unfortunately. Even when slowing down the time, the countdown just comes in the way of me wanting to read and enjoy the dialogue (which is quite good).
I like the idea of a game where your abilities keep changing. I feel like this game was a bit too difficult/unforgiving, and that the game is a bit unclear on the objective. Am I supposed to explore, or kill every enemy?
I also like the characters and their characterization, not to mention their designs.
Overall, good job. I think this game holds a lot of potential, but suffers from a lack of polish (which is unavoidable in a game jam).
Fantastic pixel-art
This is a fun little application. Obviously generative AIs are nothing new at this point, but you packaged and presented it really well. I like the idea of a prompt-based AI art generator. Really nice job!
Don't want to be that guy, but the font isn't very readable. This is a really unique take on the theme, however. I like that. Good luck with the girl, I hope she appreciates it!
This is seriously creative, and the first game so far to make me laugh.
Who made the music? It's lovely!
This was a relaxing and enjoyable, if not very simple game. I'm not the biggest fan of incorporating internet memes in you original work, although I have to admit they made me laugh, especially in this context. And I suppose it's a good compromise if you don't have time to draw a lot of artwork.
Overall, good job! I quite liked it. :D
This was cool, though I feel like the only challenge comes from waiting for the light to flicker, which isn't the most fun gameplay mechanic. On the other hand, it challenges you to remember the layout of the map, which would be an interesting mechanic and work better if the map wasn't so big.
Also, I feel like the doors are a bit too small. The goal should be more obvious, and I missed it during my first playthrough.
Nice job overall.
This is really good. The graphics are really cool, it looks like one of those old atmospheric point and click games. The gameplay is engaging and fun, and the music is quite good as well. I don't really have a complaint, this is a very solid entry.
This was great. Really creative concept, the gameplay is fun and challening. The artwork is nice as well.
The premise would probably make for a good pitch for a Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon show, haha.
He's dead, and it's my fault.
This was quite fun. Nice progression of difficulty. The controls were maybe a bit slippery. The thumbnail artwork of the girl is beautiful.
Love the graphics style (just wish the UI was as nice as the rest of the graphics)
Whatever this was, I liked it.
Graphics and overall presentation are great, and the gameplay is engaging. I just think the difficulty curve is a bit steep. If you adjust the difficulty a bit, I think this would be a really fun TD.
Thank you all so much for the nice and useful feedback! <3
I like the take on the theme, but considering it's a rhythm game of sorts I think the music could have been more interesting. Good job however
Cute game! Nothing that hasn't been done before, but execution-wise it works really well. The graphics are really charming and well made. I found the music and overall sound a bit grating unfortunately
This was pretty fun, and a good take on the theme. I enjoyed the gameplay, although it became a bit stale after some time. Graphics are good (I... "enjoy" the artwork for the game quite a lot as well), however I think the sprites are a bit too small? Everything feels too "zoomed out". Great job on this entry!
Nice novel take on the theme. Whatever art was there looked really nice, but the rest looked rushed even for a game jam game. I think you should use royalty free art assets if you don't have time to draw everything, instead of compromising by having good art mixed together with a lot of placeholder assets.
I really enjoyed this. Interesting and unique take on the theme, and the art is top notch
This was cute and kind of fun, I enjoy the creative take on the theme. I think using royalty free music would have done a lot in terms of mood; without music it just feels like something is missing
This is a cool game, perhaps a bit too ambitious for a game jam. First off, the graphics and musics are really good and high quality. However, the sound design is a bit grating. The summoning aspect and combat is pretty fun, but the game overall is lacking a lot in polish. If you feel like making a post jam version and smoothing out the rough edges a bit, I think it would be a great experience.
I really enjoy the creativity of this entry, it's definitely not what you'd expect. Presentation is really cool but kind of uneven at times, and the breakout-inspired gameplay sections feel a bit unoriginal and aren't the most fun to play. But overall I think this is a creative and interesting entry, I just think the gameplay itself feels a bit slapped on. Good job!
