love the art style! very enjoyable to play, though the enemies and summons do really push the player around xD

megzneko 2024-04-16 11:10

the art style is super cute and the colours match so well. The animations are well made, even though they do glitch a little. Overall super cute and fun.

saffwong 2024-04-16 12:25

I really dig the art, and the sound effects are nice. Good Job on this! :D

drgcandle 2024-04-16 13:07

I'm absolutely head over heels for your game! It's crazy impressive that this is your first rodeo at a Gamejam. Your art style? It's like a visual love letter to my aesthetic senses. Big props to you!C7C88E47507CAE69D61DEBDEFAFF1368.gif

spica 2024-04-16 14:15

That's your FIRST jam submission? Really strong start, friend! My only complaint is the sensitivity of the controls, felt like I'm not in control of what I'm doing. But the style is there and I like it

digitaliliad 2024-04-16 14:54

Great for a first jam submission! Loved the character designs and the sfx. Projectiles going through walls is maybe the only obvious bug I found. Otherwise, amazing game team! Good job

pedsm 2024-04-16 15:13

Good work, just needs to maybe slow the character down a little bit so the movement a bit more controlled

2024-04-16 15:44

The art style is amazing and with a few game play fixes, I think this game could be amazing!

philocode 2024-04-16 16:05

I love the graphics and the art style of the game! However, I also have to agree with the comments regarding the movement and the projectiles flying through terrain. The movement certainly is hard to control and the jump does not see to work all the time - I assume this is because of the player not touching the ground at that precise moment? I also found it very frustrating to sometimes get stuck beneath platforms, I would expect to be able to jump up through them and land on them. Overall, this was a good experience however and I was very impressed with the submission :)

pokopish 2024-04-16 19:42

The art really drew me in, it's looks really good. The gameplay did leave quite a lot to be desired, I see potential in the summoning system but it isn't really being used to great effect right now.

plintusb 2024-04-16 20:48

Pixel art is wonderful! It is very difficult to make an attractive picture out of two colors. But you did it!!! Wow! The character's behavior can be made more physical, this is the only aspect that you can improve) Good luck and bless your artists!

parkuhrmd 2024-04-16 21:48

Thank you for the stream submission! This game was pretty cute, and your art is lovely! Keep at it :)

mavvy 2024-04-16 23:18

I saw the cover, thought it was dope and the graphics delivered! Could've used some music, bit loose on the movement and a couple of stray attacks hit me out of nowhere, but dang I was **into** the rad visual style! Really strong start here!

noemykiki 2024-04-17 09:54

Thank you everyone for the kind words and feedback <3

saryah 2024-04-17 13:05

Loved the little yip noises, cute graphics, satisfying running and fighting gameplay.

jerem-watts 2024-04-17 14:06

Thanks again for sharing this on stream! Had a blast guys :')

courtneylapin 2024-04-17 17:46

A fun little game with beautiful art. I do feel like the SFX could use a little balancing, and it would also be nice if the music was looping. As for the gameplay, I did enjoy running and swinging my sword around, but the summon mechanic didn't seem to work properly for me. I killed a variety of enemies, but I was only ever allowed to summon the slime. Also, some of the enemies with ranged attacks would send their projectiles through walls, so sometimes I would just get hit out of nowhere. But overall it's pretty fun, nice work!

pandalk 2024-04-17 19:32

the artstyle is really neat, the only problem I had is that the attack animations didn't really work all the time (I think when you jump) which was a bit confusing when I was trying to attack a bat in the air !

the yip noise when you jump was also a bit distracting :p

stormblessed 2024-04-17 19:32

great first game!

civ92 2024-04-17 19:35

Nice little game, not much to add to the previous comments, only that the jump sound got me crazy ^^' but I enjoyed the art and animations, and the general experience overall. I think there may be too much difference between the move speed that makes for a speedy game and the combat that makes for a slower game : both speeds could work for this game, but having this two in the same game made the first controls a little bit hard. Good job :)

matthieu-riboulot 2024-04-17 20:18

I liked the art style. The projectiles through walls was mildly infuriating. Maybe the movement was a bit too fast too.

torin-denniston 2024-04-17 21:05

What a fun art style! I tried to get through the tutorial but got stuck because the game doesn't expand to fit my monitor resolution (3440x1440). If you're able to put together a build that works with my monitor size, I'd love to give it more of a try! The tutorial and controls feel good, even in the first little area.

joshua-miller-pio 2024-04-17 22:21

@torin-denniston perhaps try through the itch link, not sure how web will do for you if you havent already, will try and add and update for more resolutions, thank you for the feed back!

recursiveanomaly 2024-04-17 22:50

Beautiful game. I chuckled at the jump sound. Others mentioned the controls being floaty, and I would agree. I really liked the concept of summoning monsters to help you, I think it is a good enough idea to remove the player's sword completely and just focus on summoning, dodging, and platforming. Thanks for the game.

ditam 2024-04-17 22:56

Beautiful art! I had a bit of trouble with getting around - movement was a bit slippery, and my own summons often blocked the way. (I think you should be able to just walk through your own summons.)

I had fun nonetheless, nice entry!

orangedragon 2024-04-17 23:18

Cool game! I like the older gameboy style graphics and metroidvania-like caves! Controls were a bit unresponsive sometimes and I got stuck in my own summons one time, but overall really solid, especially for a first time! I think with a bit of polish it could become a great game!

bit-flipz 2024-04-17 23:25

Clicked on this game because of the stunning artwork and the pixel art in the game was no different. The controls and gameplay were a little janky, but great work nonetheless for a first game jam.

erik-tate 2024-04-17 23:26

This was really good. The art was probably my favorite part, loved the limited/retro palette. I ended up saving all of my summons for the final battle which worked out pretty well! I think the movement and the combat was a little awkward, but the level design was really impressive for such a short jam. I did notice it was impossible to summon the small dragons which was disappointing, and I'm pretty sure if I spammed the summon key I could actually summon more minions than I had defeated. Overall, though, this was a really great entry!

vodzik 2024-04-18 00:15

Nice game with cool concept. I really like graphic.

Some improvements that I could think of:

- Make summons not colideing with player or add possibbility to recall them, because player could be stuck in between or thay can block passage. - Add something to differentiate player summons from enemies. Maybe small icon? - Add coyote time and input buffering to improve player controlls

I also encounter small issue with UI visibility on fullscreen mode with UltraWide monitor.

Overall really solid first entry!

stalemeat 2024-04-18 00:44

Great entry. I love how it looks. The art is great. I found myself just dashing through the game. The movement was very fast and hard to control. The controls could be a bit more responsive and the key layout was kind of wide BUT like I said at the start this is a great entry. Great work!

rubixnoob13 2024-04-18 05:21

Art style was very cute.

As others have said, jump sound was kinda annoying. Maybe just a bit of pitch shifting so it's not exactly the same every time you jump would help.

The animations didn't work quite a lot, and bullets coming thru the walls from enemies was annoying.

I also noticed that when I got hit, the hearts seemed to come off the health bar at random instead of in a specific order. Not sure if that was intentional or a bug, but it was difficult at a glance to tell how much health I still had.

Also, having to Alt+F4 out of the title screen isn't the most fun.

Still, it was a pretty solid entry and good job!

noemykiki 2024-04-18 07:20

@jerem-watts Thanks so much for playing our game! We loved watching your stream <3

joshua-miller-pio 2024-04-18 10:37

@rubixnoob13 we would recommend our itch version, those issues were fixed in there :)

neowhoru 2024-04-18 16:26

Really nice art style and nice entry for the first game. Honestly as other also said the jumps are a bit annoying and you did't used platform effector for one way platform on soem parts of the levels. Its a bit sloppy but thats totally fine for the fist game :) Art is amazing!

padlynn 2024-04-18 16:36

I really like the mix of the retro vibe of your game with this kind of gameplay, really well done!

joshua-miller-pio 2024-04-18 16:45

@neowhoru yeah I would love to look into the one way after the jam :)

aaron-hart 2024-04-18 17:03

This is beautiful! I love the designs and the palette! Great job gang :)

surfa 2024-04-18 19:36

Really digged the art and the sounds were well made. However I came across a lot of issues whilst playing. The background sprites seemed to have some issues where they were not aligned correctly all the time and I had seams appear. The summoning managed to get me stuck on multiple occasions as they refuse to do damage to some of the enemies. The health bar did not descrease logically as it seems to delete hearts and add them back in a strange order meaning I died with what looks liked 2 heats left. Also running in on an ultrawide it did not scale properly (but that is a thng on AAA games as well). Overall was enjoyable even with the issues I faced. Good job

alessandro2024 2024-04-18 21:09

That must have been so much effort to make! Unfortunately the hitboxes and strike range are off and the movement still needs polish, but very impressive for a Game Jam game, and I love that there is variety amount the enemies like this! Also the bossfight was sweet, a victory message of some sort would have been nice, to give some closure.

milano23 2024-04-19 02:54

Nice game. I liked the art and audio, they both fit well together. Great design. I can see this turning into a great Steam game or Switch game. The collision seemed to happen further away from me then where i would assume the collider would be. Great game, i had fun. Good job.

goldenmagnus 2024-04-19 03:10

fun gameplay and a good art style, but my game randomly crashed when hit by fire

helviett 2024-04-19 18:46

Congrats on submission! Nice art style! I think it would be more challenging to use summons like skills (e.g. bat flies through the enemies and pushes them away).

kanity 2024-04-20 02:47

The cover art is absolutely gorgeous, like a cover of a comic book! In-game art is fantastic is well. The sound of jumping was adorable, totally unexpected :D Though I feel like it can become a bit overbearing if you jump too much.

I liked fast movement, and the way you showed the tutorial. Struggled a bit with hitboxes, I think. Met the skeletons and couldn't really attack them with my sword(?) With slime also, my and his collision box... Something just wasn't working that well. I would love more intuitive hitbox, and overall control of the character to be smoother.

Also, it's very easy to just fall a few times and rush into places where maybe you were supposed to go later? Maybe the movement is slightly... *too* fast?

Found a secret room with a bat, but didn't seem like I could do anything here...

secret.jpg

pierre-cilluffo 2024-04-21 13:49

Classic but still effective graphic style.

Cool concept but not enough juice : Sound when summon, visual effect when kill...

And make the difference between my monsters and the ennemies is difficult because of the exactly same sprite.

shrillwhip 2024-04-21 15:29

This is a cool game, perhaps a bit too ambitious for a game jam. First off, the graphics and musics are really good and high quality. However, the sound design is a bit grating. The summoning aspect and combat is pretty fun, but the game overall is lacking a lot in polish. If you feel like making a post jam version and smoothing out the rough edges a bit, I think it would be a great experience.

@fumybulb thank you, will look into it

unrealkazu 2024-04-23 20:46

Getting major Gameboy vibes from this color palette! The graphics are amazing, really good job on those. I really love the parallax effect you created, it adds a lot of atmosphere. The sounds were good, but adding more variations of the same sound is key when it comes to not breaking immersion.

The gameplay is interesting, the action combined with the summoning in a great gameplay mechanic in theory. In this game it doesn't really shine, because summons don't always attack or are in the way, resulting in you having to do a lot of the cleanup regardless. Furthermore, dialing down the ice-skating feeling of the controls will probably go a long way with all the comments about not feeling in control of the character.

Very impressive entry, and I can see a lot of potential in this game. I would love to see a full game on this. Congratulations on you all!

ev3ee 2024-04-23 20:47

Superb graphics, in the same color scheme, nice pixel art. Interesting mechanics with summoning creatures. Good platformer. Thanks for the tips! The downside is crazy physics. I want to go through levels, kill enemies, enjoy my power, but instead I glide like a rocket. I also wanted to use the bat to climb onto a higher platform, but you can’t jump from it. It would be great if it was possible

eugene-b 2024-04-23 20:57

Very nice that you created such cool graphics and levels for such short time! Summoning mechanic is also beautiful, but for me it was easier to kill enemies by myself :D Anyway, great job!

yorsh 2024-04-23 21:47

The game looks complete, that's already really nice for a first submission! Graphics are pretty good and the music is cool. Moving around was a bit tedious for me, movements are not quite perfect and the platforms not being traversable don't help.

purplexy 2024-04-23 22:31

I was just randomly scrolling through the ludum's feed, and this one definitely got my attention. I quite like the unique style, parallax effect for the background, and movement, which seems quite smooth. I've noticed that the hero receives damage even if it stands a bit away from an enemy, but maybe it's by design, otherwise I've stumbled upon a few minor bugs like hearts being incorrectly filled when receiving damage or enemies not receiving damage in rare cases, but anyway the overall setting sold it to me, so great job!

cheesepencil 2024-04-24 00:34

SPOILERS?

I didn't have to summon anything after the tutorial and made it down to (what I assume) is the final boss dragon thing in a large room. But after I defeated the dragon... nothing happened! I was trapped in the room because I couldn't jump back out and continue exploring. Did I beat it? There wasn't a screen or anything to tell me that I won, I was just stuck in a pit with dinosaur eggs and crystals.

It looks and sounds good, to me it felt like the frame rate was really low - like 20 fps. I played on a 4k display. Didn't have too much trouble with movement, if anything, I really liked that I could zoom around. I didn't *intentionally* speedrun it but it felt like I was...

kleinzach 2024-04-24 02:30

I really liked the art and audio, but I had a really hard time with the character movement. I kept glitching and being unable to move.

tucan 2024-04-24 03:57

That concept art is really cool! This is a really good entry and I really like how your game look and feel! I really like the exploration, the secret places and the different enemies, also the sound effects were pretty cool! There is a lot of potential with your game! There is is also a room for improvements, here are some suggestions:

-The music is nice but perhaps would be good to have a couple of tracks.

-In my case I would have preferred to control the character only from my keyboard, I felt like the mouse buttons were not necessary.

Like I said before really good entry! Good job! Have a great jam!

maxthedoom 2024-04-24 08:42

Congrats on your first submission! It's a great game, I just feel like the secret rooms could have offered more rewards, I didn't see a clear indicator of when I could summon a monster and when not, your summons look identical to enemies so it's a bit difficult to tell them apart, and you can't move through your summons so I had a moment where I blocked my way with a skeleton that had a stalemate with 2 other skeletons and couldn't get past them. I ended up summoning a slime that slid under them though. Also, there's no "end" screen when beating the last boss. That feels like I'm only complaining, but I had a great time playing the game!

aviv-levy 2024-04-24 12:45

The art and logo are really charming and have a great retro aesthetics. I see and appreciate the effort and love that went into this game! But I do have some feedback 🙂

The music was nice, but the jump and hit sfx were a bit harsh on the ears and needed to be tuned down a bit.

It's quite difficult to control the character. Acceleration and friction need to be a lot greater than now, so the player reaches the maximum speed a lot faster and goes to 0 a lot faster, too. Jump could be finetuned to that as well.

The attack animation was a bit glitchy, especially when jumping, and I think the animation should start without delay when clicking. It was also a bit difficult to get into a position in which I can successfully attack enemies, especially if there were a bit lower than me - my character instantly landed on their heads, etc. I think the player shouldn't be lifted in the air when hit too.

I think the player shouldn't collide with their summons, too, as it was a bit difficult to fight enemies when they're blocked by them.

To sum it up, if you improve the collisions and movement, and make the sfx a bit softer, it'll really enhance the experience of the game.

i1dar 2024-04-24 12:50

artstyle nice!

13x666 2024-04-24 13:49

The decision to put the furthest layer of the scene on the same parallax speed as the foreground messed with my eyes so much I could barely keep playing, my head just kept spinning like the camera kept flying around the character as I'm moving. That's probably my biggest problem with the game, I was so distracted by this I could barely see the rest; other folks in the comments seemingly didn't have this issue, that's curious :)

The platforming was a bit slippery, and I got the impression that my summons weren't keen on following me. I would summon them and they would follow me for a couple of steps and then just stop. Maybe that was by design, but felt counterintuitive. As a result I didn't use their help that much, and the effectiveness of the whole mechanic took a hit.

That said, incredible key art and in-game art style, really loved the look of it. The music is great, and so is the overall idea (on paper). Fun entry, I'd want to experience a more complete/polished version.

notnasiul 2024-04-24 14:05

Beautiful art style! But controls... agh! The character moved so fast! Would have been nicer with a bit more... weight? But it's all been said before, nothing new. In any case, very impressive first entry!

okamit 2024-04-24 14:16

As others said, you move a bit too fast and finicky, and it's a bit hard to find use of the summons in a greater sense, and sometimes it looked like enemies just died by themselves. Graphics look good for a jam and first entry, but I would recommend having uniform pixel size when using pixel art, as it can be a bit confusing to look at when pixel sizes are all over the place.

But you have something nice here you can expand upon, with nice base graphcis, design, level layout etc. Solid start, good job!

retrific 2024-04-24 15:12

The art is great and I like the idea of summoning minions to fight for you, but the movement and combat does not quite live up that and the minions were also not that useful since I was able to fight for myself.

brogan-ward 2024-04-24 20:35

"YIP!" "YIP!" "YIP!"

Love the retro art style with the limited green color palette! It really sets a nice tone and feel to the game especially with the music.

As others have said the combat and summoning need some more love, but it was fun to explore the world you all made.

joshua-miller-pio 2024-04-24 21:53

WOWZERS 125 Ratings Revieved thank you everyone! we did not expect this much engagment, love and support! we have just broken the top 10 most voted games for Ludum 55 and I cant thank you all enough!

spookyrobloxman999 2024-04-25 03:09

its kinda janky, love the art tho!

jcbeaureg 2024-04-25 03:52

Love the art style! Like the others mentioned the movement could use some tweaking, but overall I really enjoyed level design and summoning mechanics!

dekisenpaitm 2024-04-25 17:14

Overall a very good basis to expand on here are somethings I encountered :)

Things I really appreciated: - The overall art was stunning, a couple more frames for one or another animation would have been sick! - General vibe and summon mechanic are really cool and can definitely be build upon even further! - Music was a tiny bit loud but stuck in my ear frfr :D

Things I feel need some polish: - My hearts got reduced like this ( F E F E F E ) f=full e=empty and I died even though some of the hearts were still full - Animation wise I would recommend to make movement not cancel attack animations, sometimes i killed slimes but no attack animation was played - the speed of movement is in my opinion a tiny bit to fast, really hiting the right spot when to jump can be tricky, at one point I got stuck in a corner and I really had to fight to get out of there haha could be skill isssue though!

Overall sick game, put in a bit more love and polish and I could see this happening on steam a small little plattformer :)

Cheers!

prepe 2024-04-25 19:07

I love the retro artstyle, great work on that. The movements is a bit to fast for my taste and I would have loved it when W was mapped to SPACE. I sadly got blocked by my mobs and I didn't see a counter that showed how many of each mob I had in reserves. Great entry for the jam and nice basis for further development.

kujoen 2024-04-25 20:48

Awesome artstyle, movement is a bit hectic but still nice. Unfortunately I did not get very far in the web version due to:

An error occurred running the Unity content on this page. See your browser JavaScript console for more info. The error was: RuntimeError: index out of bounds @https://html-classic.itch.zone/html/10213034/Slaymorehtml/Build/Slaymorehtml.wasm.br:wasm-function[57294]:0x13a9752

I'll try the web version a bit later and see if the problem is fixed :)

lame-rat 2024-04-25 21:34

I like this art! The general idea of collecting defeated enemies to summon them is good! However, I think it would be a good idea to add more friction for the character, as right now she moves like she's on ice. I'm having trouble distinguishing between enemies and friends. The music adds a retro vibe and complements the art well. Overall, for three days of work, it's a great result!

magnusfurcifer 2024-04-26 04:26

I beat the dragon but I didn't get an end screen or anything and I wasn't able to get out of that massive pit, so I wasn't sure if that was the end?

Anyway, the art in this game is GORGEOUS. I love the style, the parallax backgrounds, the palette. It just looks amazing. The music is also really good. My primary issue was the platforming controls, they just felt a bit fast and not super responsive. I felt like I held down the key and BAM I was instantly going like 100mph. Not a massive deal, just some minor tuning required to really nail the mechanics in my opinion. Other than that the platforming and combat mechanics were satisfying, and the level design was tight. I liked the little indicators of hidden areas, however I wasn't sure if I actually got anything from finding them or not.

Otherwise a really well made and impressive entry.

osh-studio 2024-04-26 09:05

Art was very pretty! I love the girls hair and look, the enemies were quite glitchy, and often blocked my way, or would get lost and then I couldn't find them. Cool concept, great submission!

sodoj 2024-04-26 11:39

Beautiful spritework and cover art! For a first jam game, this is a banger!

sillyman987 2024-04-26 13:02

A very fun game, but i found that the attacking and movement was a bit wonky

digital-bacon 2024-04-27 00:08

Cute game, love the art design. Controls feel a bit floaty, and the combination mouse/keyboard controls were a bit clunky. Good work!

jean-francois 2024-04-27 09:41

I like GB's graphics, the cursor is very big on my browser and the sound of the jumps is very loud :/ otherwise it's a very good game :) bravo!

animawish 2024-04-27 20:31

Very good presentation, you do a lot with the limited palette. Neat gameplay idea as well. Good job!

zowie 2024-04-29 11:25

I liked the graphics, music and sounds a lot, but the character controller is very janky. In my opinion it's important for a platformer that the character controller feels nice, so this is kind of unfortunate. I also got two bugs: I had a summoned skeleton get stuck in a hole, softlocking the game, and the cursor got way too large at a certain point (I think after moving it out of the window and back into it, this was on the web version).

mrskeleton.png

Nice game! Love the art, animations, and music. One recommendation and one bug: would be great to be able to jump through the thinner platforms, or make them thicker to avoid that similarity to thin passable platforms, and also since the enemies can push the player around they were able to corner me and push me into the wall in the corner of one room.

Considering it's a game made in just a few days, it's really nice. The gameplay is good, although I found some difficulty with character control and some issues with collisions. Clearly, these are all things that are hard to fix with limited time, but you can definitely improve them for a future version of the game. Nevertheless, I made it to the end and defeated the giant dragon! Overall, it's a great job with a solid structure and a clear beginning and end. Well done.

This is a VERY pretty game! Lovely work there! I would say that what the others say about colliding with your summons made life a little hard. I also would say that the player speed was way out of control, but maybe only because the camera couldn't keep up. If you could see ahead of you, that'd be just fine. Not being able to jump through platforms was a bit odd, but not something you couldn't get used to of course.

And lastly if you REALLY just blitz the game and do a bunch of platforming, you can beat it in about a minute and a half, haha. Not a bad thing, just interesting!

This is a REALLY good first jam, good job y'all!

Amazing job on the art and animations! The movement was a bit slippery for me to control and I got a bit lost on what the end goal was. Great job introducing the controls and mechanics, they were simple, efficient, and easy to understand.

Like the game's graphic and also the situation when summons and enemies are blocked each other (a funny bug most of the time!)

Loved the consistency of pixel art style. Controls took a bit to get used too, but the gameplay was smooth and fun overal.

piero-pbes-studio 2024-04-30 20:05

really it's not easy for me to play keyboard mouse especially on a platform game... it makes the controls really difficult to understand... even if the pixel art is rather pretty and the idea of summoning the monsters fought is original

This guy is using fake games to pump up his karma to farm ratings lol... https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/55/test-1 - To me that's cheating.

shasaur 2024-05-02 22:26

Very nice and stylised art style, I love the little sound effects! The jump especially made me jump, but then smile :) My only feedback would be maybe polishing the movement and hitboxes a little bit.

Outright insane for a first submission! The palette and subtle parallax effect totally sold me on the game before I even got the chance to fully immerse myself in its mechanics. Compliments the theme extremely well, too :3

I it had a nice presentation of the game mechanics in the beginning and how it transitions from menu to gameplay, right into it! Smooth gameplay, nice graphics, music was good and quite a bit to do and explore. Great game GG C:

Very nicely implemented tutorial at the start. Great graphics and music. Enjoyable game, congratulations on your first LD submission. Some sort of indication which Slime was friendly vs enemy would have been nice, I don't think there was a well to tell currently?

Awesome game! Thanks for making.

vgxmecrew52 2024-05-03 16:58

first jam game i've played ever: i've given it a good score based on games i've seen on an offline ld jam even in my city imo so... doesnt seem smooth... and the ammount of glitches is insane imo... but this is something i see a lot in unity\godot\unreal engine games. very good art & mood. imo it's simple but it's catchy idk like it makes you feel something... ideas like killing enemies and summoning them when you are low on hp & for a final boss is ok but it's just there it's too simple & doesn't catch\grip you much because it's not that well thought out.

jumping sucks... i whould maybe give it all 5ves (i've seen it in the top games i think) but... jumping... maybe it's on my end\browser. i like eneven slopes this gives some gothic dark fantasy vibes for some reason for me

level design got something going for it but again it's interesting but doesn't have a punch ...seems sometimes pointless ...but not like daggerfall or arena ...worse ...is i just don't like pointless vast spaces BUT in this genre it's interesting

i played it through one time. sorry. final boss glitched & made 180 turn & started atacking ground... i thought wow in this asthetic... if those glitches... i mean you can implement "glitches" into a this kind of game... maybe even make it a gamplay mechanic like glitch summoned mobs & block something with them or push them trough a wall... it will take mad ammount of work & redrawing & refactor tho... & brain storm... is like i just thought it goes very well with this colors... maybe i've seen something like this\similar in battletoads or dendi\gbc games

you'll probably won't read it cuz my english skills leave room for improvement to say the least... and i mostly point at the flaws imo... but to stress this it's imo, i've played & beat like 30-40 video games, i am more into anime at this point in my life, idk. good luck & may you be fortunate to avoid all pitfalls and eat tasty food, best wishes

yea forgot to say… like unliftable amount of work\content for a single programmer …just making this level & playtesting in ue +100-200 lines of code going to take like 4-5 days for me or more …good atmept at visual narrative

Cool game, loved the art and concept. Only complain is the character movement / physics that felt a little janky. Overall I had a good time, thanks for making this!

codmen4000 2024-05-03 17:40

I think the art is very good, but there are a few problems I have: the character moves WAY too fast and the attack range is a bit too short. Also, the jump audio is a little bit annoying; I think the noise the character makes should be replaced with a whoosh. But all in all a very good game.

lize-v 2024-05-03 18:19

Art is top notch! Hope you continue making cool games.

smidgens 2024-05-03 18:47

Really neat entry. The art, animations, and just the visuals in general are gorgeous (I particularly love the layered backgrounds). The level design is pretty solid (feels like a slice from a full game), I only had one issue progressing where I clumsily spawned a minion on top of a tiny platform and therefore couldn't stand on it to jump, though luckily an enemy above shot something at me while I was sliding on top of my minion which bounced me up high enough to reach the next platform (maybe give me the ability to axe my own minion in such a case?).

Imo, the gameplay and movement are pretty solid too for a game of this type, albeit just a teensy bit floaty (nothing tweaking a few values can't fix). Maybe consider tinting the friendly minions slightly differently too (I got them confused a few times).

The audio is great. The jumping sound especially is just adorable.

Anyway, lovely game. It's got so much personality and polish. Great work, y'all!

Thanks all!

paul-nadan 2024-05-03 22:12

Really neat entry! I like the pixel art style a lot, especially the backgrounds, and I think the enemy summoning mechanic has a lot of potential. There were a couple gameplay bugs, like the ranged enemies shooting through walls or weird hit boxes (e.g. when two slimes collide), but the core mechanics seemed solid and the momentum when moving felt really nice. I also appreciated the in-game tutorial, but wish it didn't make you keep replaying it after the first time. Overall though great work!

I admire your art, it looks perfect everywhere, waaaaa
