LD55 — Summoning

Summoner's Arena by Kurakurture 2024-04-23T01:01:03Z

This game is good, simple fun. I really enjoyed the music and the art - it's unique and adds to the fun factor. I also really like how it just continually increases in difficulty. This makes it addictive, since the gameplay of smashing rabbits is fun and it's so easy to just keep going.

Issues I had were: 1) When you pick up something, it's not clear how far away it will hit. I found myself missing the enemies with objects when my brain felt I was close enough. 2) Building on that, it feels bad to miss an enemy you thought you should hit, and then no new objects spawn to smack the rabbits with.

Overall, great job!

Unfortunately it kept crashing a few seconds after I hit Play from the main menu. Not sure why since I didn't get an error message.

Some positive feedback for you, though - I LOVE the art style and environmental choices you've made. It really is beautiful.

This game is a mood! It fits the theme so well that I'm impressed. The gameplay, while not really breaking new ground, is a lot of fun.

The feedback didn't trigger every time I hit the note correctly, and the animation for the summoners only seemed to change every few hits with no real pattern I could recognize. I played for quite some time and also couldn't figure out how close I was to winning - maybe there's a way to enhance the UI so the player knows how far along they are to summoning?

What a fun art style! I tried to get through the tutorial but got stuck because the game doesn't expand to fit my monitor resolution (3440x1440). If you're able to put together a build that works with my monitor size, I'd love to give it more of a try! The tutorial and controls feel good, even in the first little area.
