LD55 — Summoning

The Ascension by ALeal_Dev 2024-04-16T23:21:10Z

I have ascended! This was a cool twist on the cookie clicker genre. I really dig the art. It's simple but well done and fits the theme really well. I think you did a great job avoiding scope creep and this felt like a small, complete game!

The Ritual by silkworm_sweatshop 2024-04-17T02:37:27Z

This game has the juice. The audio and visual feedback are fantastic. The art is also adorable and the concept is super cool. I might just be over-tired but I ended up getting stuck and couldn't figure out how to progress, but based on the comments I think that might be a "me" problem  Phenomenal job especially for the compo!

Loyalty by Erik Tate 2024-04-17T01:09:24Z

@unbreakable @imwonderr @zarukara @brunoklipel @diego-escalante Thank you for playing and for the kind words! This is our second game jam and we were pretty happy with the progress we were able to make

@baluj I just realized I left a really old build on the github.io page  I replaced that link with the itch.io page which has latest build of the game. Thanks for giving it a play though!

Deathless Sentinel by Fahim Faysal 2024-04-18T00:27:45Z

This was a truly great entry. Art was solid, concept was solid, game mechanics were solid, level/puzzle design was solid. I'm really impressed y'all were able to pull this off in 72 hours, great work!

Alchemess by SlickRamen 2024-04-17T02:13:37Z

This was insanely dope. The art was great, the mechanics felt good, throwing imps is hilarious and crafting potions for game like this was really neat to see. The music and sound fit super well too. I don't really like that the arrow keys select potion ingredients (taking my hand off the mouse in a game that requires the mouse is a bit annoying) but otherwise I just wish there was more content because I could probably play this for hours. Great work!

Dialtide by Diego Escalante 2024-04-17T00:55:52Z

This was really cool! I made it 2m 29s :raised_hands: The typing mechanic was really cool, the only downside was it made it difficult to watch the epic battle taking place before me :joy: The art was great, the background music fit really well, and I like the weird organ/synth sound as you're typing numbers. Towards the end, when there was a bunch of units on screen, the game started to lag pretty hard, but the typing mechanic still worked great even with the lag. Great job!

Hell's Kitchen by Zanar 2024-04-16T23:32:29Z

This was a super cool idea! Graphics, theme, and audio were all fantastic and I think the gameplay would be really fun too. Unfortunately I found it pretty rough to figure out the correct demon and then summon them in time. When I finally did the game seemed to break (every customer just gave me a cha-ching sound when I talked to them). Outside of that, though, I could totally see this getting made into a full game!

Summoner's Emporium by imwonderr 2024-04-17T00:44:19Z

This was great! The art style is fantastic and the concept is great too. I didn't realize for the longest time that I could summon better slimes (even though this is mentioned in the tutorial :face_palm:). I unlocked everything, got epic slimes of each type, and started creating omnipotions in every cauldron. The background music and sound effects were great as well and really fit the game. Overall just a really cool little game

Summon Shuffle by droo shayne 2024-04-17T01:06:12Z

This was really nice! I liked the art and slight shifting effect for the main character. The tileset is really well done too, I just wish it would've made it into all of the environments. I think I did all of the puzzles, but it looked like there was another area to the right that I couldn't reach  Anyway my only real complaint is that there wasn't more puzzles to solve!

SUMMON THE COLOSSUS by aerloth 2024-04-17T02:05:00Z

The intro was insane and the sense of scale playing this game is really something. I love how mysterious it is and the background "music" really drives that feeling. The ending low-key triggered my megalophobia but was super cool. I the mini games are pretty simple and straightforward, but I think this more of an experience at the end of the day. Really impressive to pull off during the jam and a job well done

Sorry, I can't come to the summoning today by Malte Hedenstrom 2024-04-17T01:31:32Z

The splash screens are gorgeous. I really liked the voice acted intro as well  I thought the interpretation of the theme was really creative and the sprites were really good. I ended up collecting so many movement buffs that I killed myself because I was completely uncontrollable

Gods of the Forest by Dan Allison 2024-04-18T00:16:15Z

The writing and story was very good  I also really enjoyed the art. It was simple, but well done. The elemental mechanics were cool but I found them really difficult to use when fighting enemies. Although, the part towards the end with the ice and all the trees was *very* satisfying  That ending though...

Don't Get Summoned! by busisen 2024-04-17T23:45:31Z

This was so cool! A few things remind me almost too much of work  The art, sound, and overall vibe were all superb and I loved the sense of humor. All of the mini-games were cool and made sense, and the office psycho was absolutely terrifying. Great job!

Fausto by PabloAbraham 2024-04-16T23:46:43Z

Art and atmosphere were super dope. I'm not sure I fully understood all of the game mechanics but for what I played it was fun!

Undead Survivor by buloz 2024-04-17T02:20:00Z

Really fun take on the vampire survivors formula! I really liked experimenting with different combinations of ingredients and ending up with new minions I hadn't discovered yet. I think the difficulty ramps a little fast (I didn't realize I could spam summons as fast as I could type initially) and trying to hit 1-4 while controlling with WASD is a bit tricky sometimes. The art and music were both stellar though and this was a really polished experience overall!

Temptation Summoner's Aprendice by Baluj 2024-04-16T23:50:06Z

Love the simple art and it's fun to just watch all the NPCs fight eachother haha. The background track is good too, but I genuinely have no idea what the summoned temptations actually do hahaha

Baphocat by onqdll 2024-04-17T23:59:53Z

This game doesn't even feel like a jam game. This is like something I would expect to see on Steam or for sale on Itch. Absolutely fantastic work  It's a bummer you had to opt out of the graphics category because the art and overall style is top notch. I remember seeing some of your progress in the discord and being blown away at how good things were looking even then! The game mechanics were all smooth and I never noticed anything not working the way I expected it to. I wasn't good enough to make it to the boss, but the difficulty really seems to ramp up suddenly. Not sure if that's been a common occurrence with others or not.

Great work! You should be super proud!

Not the Right Way by DeerofBlue 2024-04-16T23:09:00Z

Also not able to start the game in html5 :disappointed: For some reason the download link seems to not be working either. From what I can see though the art direction looks really interesting!

Elements by CodeGuy-Argaras 2024-04-16T23:55:38Z

I like the palette and the main character art a lot! The idea is interesting (fighting by playing mini games is a neat concept) but every time I kill an elemental the game unfortunately crashes

Slaymore by Joshua Miller-Pio 2024-04-17T23:26:45Z

This was really good. The art was probably my favorite part, loved the limited/retro palette. I ended up saving all of my summons for the final battle which worked out pretty well! I think the movement and the combat was a little awkward, but the level design was really impressive for such a short jam. I did notice it was impossible to summon the small dragons which was disappointing, and I'm pretty sure if I spammed the summon key I could actually summon more minions than I had defeated. Overall, though, this was a really great entry!

Succubi Slayer by Lonthy 2024-04-17T00:17:52Z

This was sick! I would actually play a full game of this with some expanded mechanics. It was surprisingly fun just to run around experimenting with drawing different shapes. I found drawing a straight line between me and a group of enemies seemed to be really efficient and wiping them out. Scope is hard in game jams, but I this was a really cool idea with good (albeit minimal) art. Great job!

Aurora's Ascendance: Orbs of Destiny by Unbreakable 2024-04-17T00:28:07Z

The main game mechanic was really cool! It reminded me a bit of playing Magicka back in the day, which I think is a great thing  The delay took a bit to get used to, but I actually liked it towards the end as it created a bit more strategy. The final boss fight was great and the the isometric tileset was super cool and not something I see a ton of. Overall, y'all did a great job

Sorcerers Folly by Hexy 2024-04-17T01:42:49Z

This was a really cool concept! I thought I lost at first and then I realized I was going through different missions. It's sort of like Asteroids but instead of a lazer you have a blackhole lol. The art was great, the music felt really fitting, and I think inverse-summoning is a cool interpretation of the theme

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Chirpy's Adventure by DJTequila 2024-10-08T01:07:49Z

I think the camera might be messed up in the web build. Once my cursor reaches the edge of the screen I can't turn anymore so I can only see about 180 degrees. I'll save my rating for now and try again later

Tiny World Mayhem by Transkuja 2024-10-08T01:26:39Z

This was a ton of fun! Really impressive for such a short time  I think my high score was ~1,400 with keyboard and mouse. I tried playing on controller and I just wasn't able to drive nearly as fast as on keyboard. Might be my controller though. The graphics, sound design, and whole vibe is gruesomely adorable and the controls and physics feel really good. I actually replayed it several times because I was having such a good time  Great job!

Hop hop don't stop. by erebrus 2024-10-08T00:54:07Z

Frog gang! :frog: This was a really cool! The art and sound design are fantastic, it's a really adorable vibe. I felt like I was fighting a bit with the controls at first, but I think I started getting more used to them towards the end. Buffs and debuffs from the bugs was a great touch, but accidentally eating a snail was the worst  Great job!

Blob, To the Top! by MetRiko 2024-10-08T01:03:24Z

I might just be bad at this, but it seemed like the left click took a really long time to become strong enough to be useful. I had to stop at the 3rd or 4th level because I couldn't move my little dudes even close to fast enough. The art and sound are both really nice though and the game ran and played well outside of my inability to be very good at it

Frogi by JEMH2K 2024-10-08T00:43:29Z

Frog gang! :frog: I got really in the zone and ended up with a score of 160 on my first play through  The music was super zen and I liked the minimalist art style. The arrow was _almost_ too slow, but it reminded me of Dome Keeper a bit. Great job!

Bakudan Baku-tan by TwinkleSoft 2024-10-08T01:39:08Z

This was fantastic! I'm terrible at these sorts of games, but it was done extremely well. The characters and paralax background are both gorgeous pixel art and the game feels snappy. The bullet patterns were really nice to look at too. Great job!
